Fantastic design & build quality, great sound!

This is a really nice speaker. It's got that timeless Marshall design and really solid build quality. It weighs quite a bit too. This isn't a speaker you're going to be moving around a lot. you're going to want to put this in a room and leave it there. It's not one you can use off the AC like many other speakers. This one is more similar like the Echo or Google Home just much, much larger.
The sound on this is pretty great. There's a good amount of bass and plenty to offer with high's and mid's. To really get a feel of the bass though you do have to have it turned up a fair bit, probably around 50% volume. Once you do though, boy does it come alive.
There is an app you will need called Marshall Voice. It will get your Speaker setup relatively quickly. It also takes you through the process of setting up Alexa with your Amazon account providing you have one. There is also an EQ that you can use as well. It's just a 5 Band EQ. It would be nice if it was a bit more featured though. I didn't notice a whole lot of differences in the sound when configuring it aside from the mids. There's also a setting to adjust the brightness of the LED's around the Dials for the Volume, Bass and Treble.
Alexa is very responsive from the little I've used it on this speaker, you could think of it as an extremely premium Echo.
The design and features are really nice. I appreciate the types of connectivity you get with this. You have an Aux In on top next to the dials. You have an RCA in on the rear. Then there is the Bluetooth along with Wi-Fi. I did test using Spotify over the various inputs including the Aux from my phone which has a Quad DAC built in. Using it's a effects was welcome with an increase in audio quality, though it wasn't staggering as what's built in here is really good.
If you're looking for a nice speaker to have in your home a fairly large or small room, this would be a great addition. It will need some room though as it's over a foot wide and at least 8-10 inches deep and about 8-10 inches tall.
My only real dislike with it aside from needing to have the volume up to get more Bass response would be the Dials on top. I do wish they had a stopping point as they freely and infinitely rotate. This is just more a nitpick than a con really. I'd still get another one knowing this though.

This is the very first Smarwatch I've ever owned so my experience is pretty limited.
I really like the look of this watch. It's quite heavy and bit bulky but it certainly feels like there's a lot of excellent build quality to it.
Setting up was a breeze. There was the matter of updating the Wear OS which did take a bit of time but I had it do so when I wasn't going to be using it for a while. During the time from when I started the setup (it was at 86% battery) to when I finally put it on the charger to update it was around 20-30% after only a couple hours. I attribute this to the updates and constant use of the watch for setting up and the tutorial.
I did finally spend a day with the watch on and after what I believe was 6-8 hours maybe give or take an extra hour in there it was around 50-60% battery remaining. I didn't use any of the fitness related apps during that time. I think even with say an hour of fitness related activity I can see getting a good day's worth out of a charge. This does pale in comparison to other like products that can last longer. In my honest opinion, much like my Cell Phone I see no real downside to charging my device once a day.
For apps and such I didn't have any issues. Navigation is quick and I didn't experience any lag or slowdowns. It was very responsive throughout my testing. I like the Spotify integration where you can change tracks, pause playback and also adjust the volume of the device you're listening on. Replaying to text and Facebook Messenger messages is easy and quick. The voice dictation worked nearly without issue. Sometimes it wouldn't pick up what I was saying, though when it did work, it was almost always perfect.
I do wish different bands for the watch weren't so expensive, $40-65 depending on the style. I didn't have any discomfort or issues with the band that came with it.
If you're in the market for a nice Smart Watch, I'd definitely give the fossil a look, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Great efficient Vacuum
on October 19, 2018

from Missouri, USA
We received our new Shark upright vacuum a little over a week ago. Being excited to try it, it was immediately unpacked and put to work. Amazing! This is one powerful vacuum. We did one room , carpet only and when emptied it was half full.
Pro's on this unit are as follows:
1- powerful
2-very easy to clean canister
3- decent length on power cord
4- well built
Cons on this unit:
Wish the power cord was slightly more flexible. It seems Shark has a tendency toward stiff cords.
While well built , expect it to be heavy. It is.
Although it's powerful, at times it has to run over things several times to pick it up.

Fantastic Brewer, Can do Tea as well as Coffee
on October 11, 2018
Posted by: Saitzev

Having previously reviewed the Single Server Ninja Brewer and seeing this model be released I couldn't pass this up.
This has in fact replaced that brewer for many reasons.
This particular model came with the Stainless Steel Carafe. There is a model that comes with the Glass Carafe. The Thermal Carafe definitely does a fantastic job of keeping Coffee or Tea hot. I had brewed a full Carafe and even after several hours my coffee was still very hot, almost as if I had just brewed it.
There are several options for brew size as well as several Brew modes. You can see these in my photo.
I do like having the addition of a clock on the device and also being able to set a brew delay. This is great if you want to have coffee ready to go in the morning when you wake up. The only caveat is the system has to stay powered on. If you turn it off, it will not brew at a later time. It's interesting to see something like this in this day and age when a lot of other brewers will power on at the desired time and start to brew. A small nuisance but not irritatingly so.
The brewer does come with two different permanent filters, one for tea another for coffee. Both do their job as they should. My mother typically just drinks tea. When I asked how her tea turned out after a few uses she remarked it was pretty strong. She normally used the Keurig for the tea. I think the reason it's so strong is that she is not used to either the brewing method the Ninja uses or the Keurig was always brewing a weak tea.
For myself, my coffee has always tasted great. I alternate between the rich and the classic brews and occasionally enjoy a over ice brew. I really appreciate the cold brew option now, but I haven't yet used it. I will probably do so over the weekend.
My only real complaints with this model is that brewing takes longer and the reservoir is smaller by about 12 or 18 ounces. With the Single serve brewer I was able to make a cup in any size in about 1-2 minutes. This particular brewer takes about 2-5 minutes. Cold Brew takes quite a bit longer according to the manual.
Another thing I do like is the included recipe book. There's quite a bit of recipes in there for just about everyone. There's stuff for Hot and Cold Tea or Coffee, Cold Brew's, Frappe's and even some adult concoctions such as White Russian variant.
Given that I've had my other Ninja for about 2 or 3 years now and only had one hiccup where it wouldn't brew, but leaving it off for a few days and turning it back on seemed to fix it, I have no doubt this one will last me as long or even longer.

Good sounding speaker. Wide soundstage.
on October 11, 2018
Posted by: Saitzev
from Missouri, USA
I've had a couple of these types of speakers so far over the last few years.
Earlier this year I got one of the XB41 Bluetooth Speakers and it has excellent wide sound as well as lot's of bass in such a small speaker.
I wanted to check one of these out as it's a quite a bit larger and has a larger sub built in to it. I believe it is 5.25". The midrange/Tweeter point out at an angle above the Sub.
This configuration gives a nice very wide sound stage. The sound is really good as well. I was fairly underwhelmed from the sub as given it's twice the size of what's in the XB41 it doesn't seem to have as much bass. I'm not sure if it's due to the sound profile or another issue but I've tried tweaking it in the Music Center app and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. It could have also been the music though. I tested it with some Soundtracks such as LOTR, I also listened to some EDM, Hip Hop/Rap/R&B, Rock, Metal and so forth. Through none of these did the bass seem to really pick up or be overwhelmingly evident like it was in the XB41.
It's possible that using a pair of them would be better in terms of better bass. Again it could have just been my choice of music.
The speaker will definitely not disappoint though.
I do like that there is place in the bottom of the speaker to put it on a tripod to use in a similar fashion as your typical monitor speakers. Though it's definitely not going to replace a proper monitor such as a Behringer, Peavey etc...
Charging can be done 2 ways, either through the USB-C port or through the included charger. The USB-C port can be used to charge a device like an Mobile Phone or perhaps a tablet.
The rated run time is 16 hours. This could be underratted though as the XB40 and XB41 that I both tested seem to last forever as I've charged them maybe a couple times in the months I've used them.
This does feature illumination like the other models. There aren't many option's like the other models, but there's something that will likely fit everyone, including and off option.

Great mouse, plenty of buttons, fast tracking.

This is a pretty nice mouse. It has a nice feel to it, though it is quite light.
There's not really any cons to this mouse other than that I wish it had the weighted piece that comes with the G703. I imagine that may possibly fit in this mouse as it looks to have the exact same cutout and there appears to be enough room to insert it into the cap.The only problem that I can foresee with this is the cap is held in magnetically so it could prevent the cap for staying connected. The cap is a bit difficult to get off the first few times you try until you get a feel for how far/hard to press on it to get it to "Eject". Inside there's a spot to store the Wireless adapter which is a big plus.
The tracking on it is quite insane. This will be affected of course by what type of mouse pad you use. I'm just using a Steelseries QCK+ pad. I may move to a hard mouse pad in the future though as they're much easier to keep clean.
The amount of buttons are generous, however I think with the size of the mouse being smaller, any more than 2 is kind of wasted here. I'm a Claw Grip most of the time and this mouse is a little small for that. Though if you don't have longer fingers and larger hands then this would be a great mouse for you.
It definitely has a feel of quality though and the clicking is pretty tactile and responsive with all the buttons. I do like that included in the box and as you can see in my photo's there are 4 buttons included that you can use to replace the pre-installed buttons should you only want to use the mouse with the 2 main and middle mouse buttons, or use it as a 5 button mouse.
This probably won't end up being my Daily driver for my mouse as I prefer the weight, size and customization of my Logitech G900. If I had to guess, it's nearly twice the weight of the Pro Wireless. The other thing I do like on my G900 is the scroll wheel. It's more controllable and I like that you can "disconnect" it with the Hyper-Scroll button so you can quickly scroll through a EULA/TOS page or through websites very quickly. Though the Pro Wireless does seem to have a more defined click type feel when scrolling whereas the G900 is more of a smooth but bumpy type of feedback.
With that all in mind, the Pro Wireless is a really a great mouse especially if you're gaming on the go as it doesn't take up as much space as say the G500-903 Series mice. I'm certain the mouse will be great to use for years to come, I just only wish it was a fair bit larger and heavier.

Sleek, fast speeds, great Wi-Fi range.
on September 4, 2018
Posted by: Saitzev

There's not a tremendous amount to talk about.
My bandwidth for my Internet at home where this is used is only 200Mbit so I cannot vouch for if the modem is in fact truly 1Gbps capable. Setup was very easy. Called my ISP (Su******nk), they had it provisioned and working within a few minutes. Wi-Fi setup was simple and quick. Wi-Fi speeds will of course vary, but I have no problems hitting my provided speeds.
Range is quite good. My only issue with this is that there is not external antenna. This is a bit of a drawback so if you're in a larger home, say more than 2200 sq-ft, you're going to want to look at an extender or repeater if it's on one side and you're on the other. 2.4Ghz was strong throughout our 1500 sq-ft home. 5ghz however was hovering around 4-5 depending on the device and distance. My Roku Ultra that is in our living room was only seeing 3 or 4 bars out of 5 and it's only about 10-15 away with little interference and obstruction. Speeds were unaffected for the most part though.
I like the look of it. It's fairly tall, about 10-12 inches and around 8-10 inches deep. Thankfully the desk it's on has plenty of room. This has taken the place of my old Surfboard modem and TP-Link router for the time being as it takes up less than half the space of both.
If you're looking for a good Gateway that will supports speed up to 1Gbps and has fast Wi-Fi then this will fit the bill. If you're needing something faster or more future proof, you'll need a modem that is DOCSIS 3.1 Compatible and has more than 24x8 channel's.
Outside of the lack of external antenna's there's not really anything to not like about this Gateway.

Absolutely amazing headphones & exceptional build

V-Moda Review
These are some incredible headphones. These are another that have been added to my diverse collection of various brands and types. These are probably at the top in terms of quality.
I hadn’t heard of V-Moda or experienced their headphones prior. If you can check out a pair at your local Best Buy, do yourself a favor and check these out.
What I love about these is the evenness of sound. There’s no app and no eq to manage on your device so you’re getting a sound that’s already been tuned and tuned incredibly well. I’ve used them wired and wireless and couldn’t find a difference in the sound at all. This is something very difficult to manage as Bluetooth and Wireless connections aren’t the most reliable nor do they deliver the same quality in most cases as a Wired connection.
In my time testing these out I’ve been incredibly pleased. They are very comfortable and very flexible. The fit well and they definitely feel like they stay in place. I’m quite pleased with the quality of the construction of the headphones. They are very well built and are very solid. The leather they use is incredible too! There’s even this same quality leather on the box they come in. The earcups have memory foam and super comfy and super soft on your ears. They can get a bit warm but i never found them to get sweaty at all.
Music wise I tested several types of genres. I listened to some Hip-Hop and Rap like Run-DMC and Macklemore and the bass in the tracks was very natural and smooth and not overpowering to the rest of the tracks. Listening to classical or big band music all the instruments had an evening of sound, not one instrument was overpowering another. Even with listening to Rock and Metal this same characteristic carried over as well. Having an evenness of sound is really something you want in a pair of headphones. Having too much bass or too much treble can lead to too bright a sound or too muddled of a low end and these thankfully don’t experience this.
These also come with a hard shell carrying case that feels very durable. They have a carabiner clip on them so you can attach them to a loop on pants or on a backpack. The case has some room as well for a pair of V-Moda earbuds. There’s also some spots for the Charging cable and the 3.5mm cable. I do like the charging cable as it’s a flat USB cable and seems to have a nice quality to them. The 3.5mm cable is also very nice as it’s braided and has a nice quality feel. There’s also an in-line Mic on the cable so you use it for calls. I didn’t test this however.
Battery life seems quite good. I used them for hours at a time and never really saw much of a decrease in charge. They are rated for I believe 14 hours at low volume. I was using them at about half volume and their included materials state they will get about 1.5 hours at higher volumes. I fell asleep with them on a couple times and they had been on for a couple hours at that point but the battery meter barely budged.
One thing I didn’t realize, they have ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). Now it’s not going to block out everything like an airplane, but they will definitely keep out various distractions. There’s nearly no noise bleed. You can test that by resting the earcups against each other and then separating them. Since they rest on your ears and not over, I was quite impressed with how well the sound was retained.
One nice thing you can do with the headphones is purchase some covers for the outer sides of the headphones. These range in price and quality. They have precious metals, engravings and patterns. You can get 14k gold, plated gold, platinum, brass and even textures. Most of them are a fair investment and can wind up costing as much $30,000 if you want Platinum.
Expensive, but it gives you options for customizing your headphones to make them your own and one of a kind.
If you’re looking for a very nice, high quality pair of wired headphones, these are sure to please as their quality is amazing.

Excellent Notebook, Plenty of Power, AMD is Back!
on August 13, 2018
Posted by: Saitzev
from Missouri, USA
One thing I do want to point out before I do get on with my review. When you are using a Notebook computer, regardless of brand or manufacturer, always use it responsibly and on a hard flat surface. Do not use your Notebook on soft material like carpet or a comforter/blanket or especially on your lap. The industry moved away from calling them Laptop as they can get quite hot and can in some instance cause harm. This can and will restrict and prevent proper airflow throughout the Notebook. This will lead to increased heat, potential discomfort if used on your lap. Proper airflow not only keeps it cool, but also prolongs the life of your several hundred or several thousand dollar investment. If you must use it on your lap, please think about buying a Cooling pad with a large single fan or multiple fans, you’ll only be doing yourself and your Notebook Computer a favor.
Now on to the good stuff.
For about the last 10 years the Notebook market hasn’t really had anything noteworthy from the AMD side. That changes now.
Enter the Ryzen CPU’s for mobile. They offer not only just the CPU, but also a Vega GPU. There’s are very capable chips and can handle a good deal of work and play. This particular model features a Ryzen 5 2500U 4 core, 8 Thread CPU with a Vega 8 GPU with 8 Cores.
The screen is a Full HD 1080p Glass screen with touch capability. It responds incredibly well to all touch and supports multi-touch gestures such as pinch to zoom. My only issue with the screen is the colors. They don’t really pop, and don’t look all that special. They seem very muted and dull. From what I have seen, the 13” model of this HP doesn’t have this issue to as great an extent and seems to hold up better.
The Keyboard is very nice and very responsive. It’s also quite clicky and has very good tactile feedback. It doesn’t have a cheap feel to it at all. The touchpad is your basic touchpad. It’s nothing revolutionary or game changing. It offers your typical experience and supports gestures as well similar to the touch screen.
I do wish though that there was more than 8GB of RAM and especially more than just 128GB of storage for the installed SSD especially given the huge decrease in cost for drives between 240-500GB. I did look up to see if this is replaceable by the average person, but it is not and requires a good deal of knowledge and from what I can determine would in fact void the warranty. One option that can be had is if you really need additional space would be to add a SD card to it. There are some out there that can reach speeds of about 200Mb/s. Though this is only about 1/3 of the speed of the installed SSD, it’s still one way to achieve more storage at a compromise. The other option would be to purchase an external SSD, though these can be expensive, it is a viable alternative if you don’t always need it with you or keep it at home or the Office and stationary.
For performance, I really had no issues with the notebook at all. It’s plenty fast, it runs a variety of games, even modern titles. Given that this is on the lower-mid side of Graphics performance you’re not going to be running the latest titles with the highest of settings. Compromises will need to be made, such as a lower resolution or lower visual fidelity. If you don’t care too much about the look of a game and just want to enjoy the story, than this kind of system would be right for you.
For things outside of Gaming, like office work or even just browsing the internet and watching cat video’s all day, this will still be more than enough and then some. The screen is plenty large and having 1920x1080 as the resolution certainly helps with having plenty of information on the screen at once. When I was using two Windows side by side it was handled really well especially for two different tasks such as researching in one window and typing up a document in another.
Battery life was actually much better than I could have anticipated. I’ve tested numerous Notebooks and their batteries and the average of playing a DVD was typically enough for most movies, usually around 2-3 hours. As this lacks a DVD drive, that does reduce the amount of overhead and need for more moving components. I want to say I saw about 3-5 hours of just general use such as web browsing, watching video’s online and some light gaming. I would say if you’re planning on gaming on it with the High Performance Windows Power Plan you can expect around 2-3 hours, possibly less. It depends on what it is you’re playing and the intensiveness of it. If you’re just using it to watch Netflix or something, you can probably get 3 or more hours out of it.
I have to say, I really like the aesthetic of this Notebook. There’s not super weird markings on it aside from some form of a calligraphy styling bit of artwork along the hinge of the Notebook’s display. The rest of the HP Envy is kind of a muted bronze/copper color which I really like and this carries all the way around the unit. Even the new HP logo is more modernized and very sharp looking.
The sound is also very good. It doesn't sound overly tinny and does have some depth to it. It's definitely loud enough to use in private and watch a movie on or maybe with a couple of friends, but it's not going to be near as good as a dedicated pair of speakers. Using something like a bluetooth speaker can certainly overcome that limitation.
The notebook does get quite warm, not hot to the touch or such, but just warm enough to make it where you don’t want to use it on your lap without something underneath it like a cooling pad or some other hard surface especially for an extended period of time. On a desk it still did get quite warm but I never noticed any throttling or reduced performance. I do appreciate the fact that across the entire bottom of the HP there is venting that extends from one side to the other that is about 1.5” in width to help give additional airflow.
Overall, I think it’s a fantastic Notebook and definitely a step up for HP in the quality department compared to the time I was employed with them. You will certainly be pleased with this product. If you find that the 15.6” screen is a bit much for you, the 13.3” version of this model will certainly please just as well.

Fast Printer, lots of ink, easy to setup

This is a great AIO. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing visually, but it is function over form.
This printer will easily get the job done. I've had numerous printers from several manufacturers over the years. I appreciate the amount of ink that you do get with the cartridges, time will tell though if they last long. Your mileage will certainly vary with how much you print. If I recall it states there are some 4000+ color pages and 5000+ black pages for the longevity. The location for the ink cartridges is well placed on the lower front right of the printer and can be accessed and replaced quickly.
The initial setup for the ink did take a bit of time, 6 minutes to fill the reservoir and prepare the ink and push out a test page.
The setup was quick. Mine was setup wireless and putting in the key was simple and quick enough. I do remember that if you connect your printer physically either through Ethernet or USB to the PC it's connected to, the Brother S/W can automatically setup the wireless connection without you needing to put in the wireless info directly on to the printer's touchscreen display.
It doesn't take very long to print page's and is pretty clear and of good quality, though Yellow's did seem a bit muted on the paper I was using. This could be mitigated by using a heavier paper.
The printer does feature Fax Capability but haven't had the opportunity to utilize it yet. The printer does have a front USB port and an SD Card slot that are easily accessible.
This a fairly large unit so make sure that you do have the space for it. It's currently sitting on a filing cabinet that was turned sideways and takes up the entire surface area.
Overall, I think it's a great printer so far and will do pretty much everything I ask and need of it.

Unlock a world of crypto possibilities with the Ledger Nano S. The world’s most popular hardware wallet to securely start your crypto journey. Buy, secure, exchange, grow and manage your favorite crypto assets.

Does this wallet support Dogecoin?

It certainly does. You can buy, swap or send and receive Dogecoin on the Nano. You do all this from the Ledger Live app either on PC or your mobile device. I'd recommend doing so from the PC as connecting it to your phone would require you to use an adapter since it uses the antiquated Micro-USB connection.

If you need to know about other coins, you can visit the Ledger website and click on Crypto Assets and from there search to see what it supported.

Stream your favorite tunes from media servers, PCs and smart devices with this Yamaha sound bar. The built-in Alexa voice control lets you decide how your favorite content should play, and the preset modes provide different surround sound effects for your listening pleasure. Featuring clear voice technology, this Yamaha sound bar ensures clear dialog so you can keep up with critical scenes or plot twists.

can i use this remote only and not have to go to a different one?

If you're meaning whether or not you have to use the included remote, then yes, you don't have to use any other. If you mean if you can use a 3rd party universal remote, that would be something you would probably have to reach out to Yamaha or the manufacturer of the remote for.

Also keep in mind you can use your phone as a remote with the Sound Bar app. It's called Sound Bar Controller and it's made by Yamaha. You can also use Alexa to control it as well.

Do you know the average fps on high setting on high quality games.

Performance is of course going to vary from game to game especially when you consider the settings people use. I've attached my benchmark report from AC:Odyssey. This would be a killer unit if the GPU was a 1650 instead of the paltry 1050. As you can see at 1080 it just barely holds on to 30 fps at mostly medium. Further tweaking and you can probably get that closer to 35-40.

I bought this laptop with 256gb a month ago. Can I add extra 2.5 Internal HDD or SDD in it?

You certainly can. It's got expansion for another M.2 drive as well as a standard 2.5" Mechanical or SSD drive. If you want to expand the SSD storage I'd recommend looking at the Corsair MP510 series. They're cheap, fast, have a 5yr warranty and will probably outlive you lol. They have the highest endurance of any drives currently on the market, enterprise sector aside.

See who's at the door on your smartphone with this SkyBell Trim Plus home-security doorbell. It sends HD video and two-way audio and can detect and record a visitor's presence via live monitoring and a motion sensor. This rugged SkyBell Trim Plus home-security doorbell has full-color night vision and withstands inclement weather.

Does it come with the angle mount?

It does not sadly. You'll have to buy them. They're $10 per wedge at their website. You'll have to use theirs though, I bought some off Amazon and the SkyBell does not fit on them. They secure points or too close together which makes it impossible to use with them. Sadly I had to eat the cost cause it would have cost me more to send them back than I did paying for them.

How many USB ports does it have

Sadly it doesn't have any. I was hoping it might have had even just 2 USB 2.0 ports but it doesn't even have that.

Does this monitor rotate to be used in portrait mode?

You sure can rotate it. It might not seem like with how high the stand extends, but it is enough with some room left if you have anything beneath the screen itself.

The ambient lighting only displays from the middle one below the logo, how do i make it display from all of them?

The lighting is only along the bottom center strip, the Green you're seeing go out along the sides is merely accenting trim. It would have been nice to see either just the single bit being green instead of all along the bottom or just extend it but that just doesn't happen to be the case here.

It's still quite bright and doesn't really seem invasive. You can adjust the lighting option in the OSD though from either Off, On or Breathing.

Enjoy interactive streaming with this Google Nest Hub. With the built-in Google Assistant, you can view your calendar, receive alerts and reminders, and control devices from the single dashboard, and voice control lets you access other smart features. This Google Nest Hub lets you listen to music from Spotify and Pandora and view YouTube content. "

Can this be used with your phone to make video calls? Using Duo App?

It cannot :( as it lacks a Camera. There may be 3rd Party models that include one, but the one from Google does not have this capability. I attached a photo of mine, pardon the grainyness, but at the top you can see a small oval, this is an Ambient Light sensor to adjust the screen brightness. There's 2 mics flanking the Sensor to it's sides.

I imagine in the next revision we may get a Camera though.
