Del Toro’s new film is a gripping, traditional Gothic tale. The crumbling mansion, family secrets, isolation, ghosts, the power of the past, these familiar Gothic tropes are used spectacularly to create a film that is a visual delight and genuinely frightening.
It begins in the real world but, as in many fairy tales and myths, the heroine is lured away from her safe home to a dreadful Otherworld, imprisoned and alone. This is Allerdale Hall, sitting atop the Crimson Peak, where she is plunged into a world of supernatural horror, decadence and decay. Brilliantly filmed, these scenes juxtapose decay and disrepair with spectacular beauty. In the Otherworld of Allerdale Hall Edith is forced to shed her identity of lovestruck ingénue and recreate herself, drawing on strengths she did not know she possessed. Ironically, it is her experience in the Otherworld which enables her to fully realise her humanity. She emerges from her experience a different person.
The film explores are the deceptiveness and partiality of vision, where nothing is as it seems, including one’s own self. The ghosts are satisfyingly scary and are crucial to the film's plot and themes. Both Thomas and Lucille are tragic characters, sinister and mysterious, but vulnerable and conflicted. The film is also a mystery story in the Poe tradition, as Edith resolutely pursues the truth about Allerdale Hall and its inhabitants.
Other intertextual inspirations for the film include Rebecca, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Bluebeard. Del Toro clearly knows his Gothic. Here he draws on such influences to create a smouldering, stunning film, filled with menace, suspenseful and with plenty of plot twists and surprises. Highly recommended.

A late night train out of London on a dark stormy night comes to a halt in a forest half way through its journey, the ticket collector Joe becomes an unlikely hero as he does his best to help the passengers remain calm, but something unimaginable is waiting outside for them!!
This is an unmissable British werewolf horror, I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. One of the years top horror releases. This is a die hard horror fans dream come true. Plenty of great building tension once the action kicks in, the movie has a really good cast of characters, your usual stereotypes that you love and hate but not entirely predictable, the effects are spot on all the way, the train and the location etc all looks genuine and work really well. The werewolf effects are great, some of the scariest for sure in long while, some amazing make-up effects from the creators of the creatures from The Descent movies. There's plenty of bloody gore. The werewolf gets some good screen time and looks really frightening .This is a great creature movie with plenty of blood. It is really fun at the same time. Be sure to check out this horror gem.

Zach (Dylan Minnette) and his Vice Principle mom Gale (Amy Ryan) move to Madison, Delaware next to the home of R.L. Stine (Jack Black). Through a series of mishaps, Stine's magical books are opened releasing all the monsters from his stories. You don't have to be familiar with the works of Stine to appreciate the film filled with puns and corny lines. The 3D looks amazing. This is a fun popcorn movie that I would recommend to anybody.

Creepy is the best and most appropriate word to describe this movie. I have to admit a couple scenes made me jump as well. It is hard to get good movies in this genre, and so much is rehashed and repetitive. Not that different in this movie, but it is executed well, and it works.
Setting is excellent, a farm in Illinois, where I wouldn't dare set foot, and the two young actors as the twins do an admirable job.
Worth seeing, make sure to see it late at night. It is quite spooky, and they have done an excellent job creating a 'multi-sensorial' experience.

Three friends who are Boy Scouts try to save the world from the Zombie Apocalypse. This is a romcom just like Shaun Of The Dead. This movie has everything including Zombie cats which are so funny. Tons of gore and more original ideas for kills. I love this movie so much.

If you like films like Evil Dead or the 80s cheesy horror/metal movies like Trick or Treat, Black Roses & Rock N Roll Nightmare you'll almost certainly love this film. A group of heavy metal loving friends get their hands on some obscure metal music, play it, summon demons & then everythig goes wrong. The gore is outrageous, brutal & well done, the characters diverse & funny. Extras include Q&A with director, trailer, teaser, music video, interviews. It also has a reversible cover art which I think looks better then the one it originally shows.

Ive seen a few of the cannibal movies that are considered classics such as Cannibal Holocaust & Cannibal Ferox , but I have to say this is definetly a future classic. A group of activists go to the jungle for their cause, things go wrong, they get caught by a cannibal tribe & things get very bad from there. The gore effects are very well done & the kills brutal so if that's not your thing then please avoid this movie. The cast does a good job, one in particular makes you dislike him so much you want something really bad to happen to him. Eli Roth knows how to scare you as well as make you laugh. I am anxiously awaiting his new remake of his classic film , Cabin Fever which opens on February 12, 2016.

Luther is everything the trailer promises to a tee! I was thrilled that this movie delivered on the suspense and gore. The performances are great as well. This blu ray is a Vinegar Syndrome release and the transfer has never looked this amazing. Go to DVD Drive-in web page for an excellent review of the film as well the blu ray. Well worth the price..a must have for serious die hard horror fans.

As a fan of campy films, I thought this movie was actually pretty great and not as creepy or despairing as other reviewers stated. It laces humor with strangeness, not the other way around. Michael Parks, Johnny Depp, and even Genesis Rodriguez (specifically the close-up scene) did fantastic jobs in this film. Justin Long was pretty alright -- he just plays an overtly vulgar and crass character who becomes victim of Michael Parks's character. The movie is utterly ridiculous, but incredibly entertaining to watch. I do recommend this film.
The first season of Hannibal follows FBI Agent Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) as he becomes increasingly immersed in his efforts to find a brutal serial killer. When Special Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) pairs him with a highly skilled psychiatrist - who, unbeknownst to them, is the perpetrator himself, notorious serial killer Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) - Will questions his own sanity as his cannibalistic partner subjects him to a series of mind games.

Brilliantly done with a cast of characters whose acting talents are far superior to nearly every other on network television. You cannot surpass the level of depth of character development, the writing, where as they discuss real theories of psychology; build up, and character development between Will Graham and Dr. Lecter is unlike anything else on television and cannot be done with a movie.
Eventually we will view shows like this one not to be just a show, but rather a series of movies, each telling a story, where at one point a 2 hour movie will not be enough anymore to satisfy our palate for something as savory as this series. Die hard horror fans will love the special effects and gore. This will become a classic.
