Only for the bush....not the berries

Maintaining one self can often be a bit of a chore. From gathering up the courage to trim down to finding the right tools for the job. Can be quite overwhelming. However, this little shaver does the job quite nicely.
Most times you'll either use a razor or some facial trimmer to get the job done. But finding a trimmer dedicated to shaving is a must I'd say. There's lots of different brands/models to select from but this one works out quite well for all types.
To start, the size of this is perfect. It's not too big or too small and fits in the hand perfectly. It's perfectly sized to get into hard to reach places which is a huge plus.
The shaver itself charges via USB-C so you can charge it just about anywhere. It is water resistant so you can take it into the shower to avoid any messy cleanup.
The kit includes the shaver, two trimmer attachments as well as some lotions to help with trimming before and after. I must say the crop smoother is wonderful to have as it definitely helps with the after shave burn.
Note to self, this is really only intended for bush whacking, not hedge trimming. If you've got some growth down there then this is the tool you need. However, if you're looking for that super slick look then you need to go find another trimmer for that. Anything below the twig, don't use this for that.
All in all, great way to keep everything proper and neat down there.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty decent headset if all you need is a "basic"
on May 24, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I primarily use Astros for my PC but also like to use less elaborate ones for my Switch/laptop. I liked this since it was wireless and considerably smaller than my other headsets. Functionality wise, pretty much on par with other low/mid level Turtle Beach headsets.
Nothing really out of the ordinary with these. As with most other Turtle Beach low/mid range wireless headsets, this is a pretty inexpensive gaming headset with some features but not quite as premium as their top tier headsets.
The fit? Not too bad. I have a large head so finding good sized headsets is a problem. This one fits kinda snug on me even after adjusting the head band. The earcups on this don't extend like others do so they're fixed and the only adjustment you can make is through the headband. The headband just snaps into place (3 different positions) for your fit. Even on the last one, the headset is pretty snug but not TOO snug where it's uncomfortable.
Takes a bit getting used to the button layout on the headset. If you're used to using TB then it shouldn't be an issue but if you've used other brands then, yeah, will need to learn that layout.
The sound? Average I'd say. Not great but not low end. You can fine tune the sound through their application with your usual treble/bass and such. I found the sound to be sorta muted like it wasn't quite tuned properly out of the box so you need to fiddle around with settings to make it work. This being a low/mid level headset, I kinda expected this so not too surprised.

Not a fan of this band.
on May 7, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I'm a big fan of collecting bands for my Apple Watch Ultra. I have about 12 bands so far ranging from metal to silicon to nylon. Figured a leather band would be nice to add to the collection. While these may be "Genuine Leather", they feel really cheap.
To start, it looks OK. There's nothing really flashy or ornate about this band so it's just a simple, leather band. While I'm sure it's leather, it feels super cheap....almost paper-like. The band itself is very thin so I'm a little concerned about durability with this band. If you have sweaty wrists then this might be a problem with the quality of this band since it'll probably degrade the leather faster than a normal leather band.
This being the Insignia branded band, I wasn't expecting luxury like leather to be used on this band so it's not really a surprise that the band feels the way it does. With hundred, if not thousands, of bands to choose from for your Apple watch, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a nice leather band if that's wha t you're looking for. If you want something that's "different" and not too expensive; this is an OK choice. However, if you're looking for something a bit more stylish in a leather band, probably best to skip this one.

Pricey, but just OK
on May 7, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
The earbud market is flooded with oodles of models from Apple, Samsung, Bose, etc., so are these any better than the rest?
I've used multiple earbuds from all the big players like Apple, Bose, Beats and they all have standout features and/or just sound terrific. There are those in the mid-range that offer decent features for reasonable prices and then there are ones that just kinda defy conventional wisdom....these are those kinds of earbuds.
For starters, they sound OK. Not great, but just OK IMO. They don't have any bass boost like Sony earbuds do nor any exceptional ANC like Apple or Bose. These feel more like mid-range earbuds, which is fine, however they carry top tier pricing which is a put off.
Sound is good. With the companion app, you have the normal EQ settings as well as profiles you can set for any custom settings you come up with. The big thing here for me was the lackluster noise cancellation. It's bearable at best. ANC from Airpods or Bose are really great and block out pretty much all unwanted noise. These, do a mediocre job at that. Even with the transparency mode off, you're still able to hear a good bit which kinda makes the noise cancelling "feature" pretty useless. It's OK, not great.
The fit was a big issue for me as well. I really dislike the shape of these earbuds. For me they were difficult to take out and with the smooth surface of the earbuds, felt like taking these out real quick was a chore. Never had this problem with any other earbuds I've tried so this was a big let down for me.
I'd say, again, that these are just mid-range earbuds which would be OK at the sub $100 level or so. But the price these come in at, I'd expect a lot more from these especially coming from a reputable brand like Sennheiser.

Decent watch for the avid golfer
on April 23, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I've never had a golf watch before so this was something completely new for me. I get out maybe 3-5 times a month whether it be a quick 9 or full 18. Like most people, I just eye ball distances and use yardage markers so having something like this wasn't really something I'd ever thought I'd want/need. However, after a range/round trip, there is something pretty cool about having your personal yardage "caddy" with you when out playing.
In terms of fit/finish, it's a very no frills look to it. Looks like any other basic watch you'd see so nothing really special about it as far as aesthetics go. The band is pretty basic as well....almost too basic. You do get a short/long strap (the ones with the holes in them) with this watch. I'm not really a huge fan of the band itself so I'll probably see if I can cobble one together somewhere else. It uses the standard bar pin so shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
As far as usage. There is some learning curve with this so probably need to run through the user manual first just to see what everything is, how it works, etc. Since I'm a newbie to golf GPS watches, maybe that's why but there's oodles of settings/features in the watch. The watch itself pairs with your smartphone and there is a companion app along with this watch you need to download. After getting all that setup, taking it to the range/course is the next step.
At the range, this watch allows you to track your shots, driver/iron/wedge, however you need to select these manually. There is a scorecard feature in this app/watch which is quite handy. As far as yardages go, this is pretty accurate. Took this to the local course by me and seems the yardages provided are pretty good. Within the phone app you can download your favorite courses for future use as well as get your dashboard of shots, rounds played, scorecard, etc.
Overall, pretty impressed with this so far. Haven't really had a chance to put it through multiple rounds but, so far, seems like a good choice as well as something useful to have.

Decent, not great though
on April 12, 2024

These smart vacs are a really nice upgrade to your place, regardless of whether it's a house or apartment; carpeted or not. Having used a few different models over the years, these are a great way to keep your place clean without having to lug the monster vacuum out everytime. Also really handy if you have pets.
At first glance, this is your "typical" smart vac. There is no self-emptying base with this unit so you'll have to manually empty the dust bin from time to time. This one is a dual purpose vac in that it mops as well as vacuums.
For most applications, I think this is fine. There is an attachment where you can put on a cleaning pad (this comes with 2 cleaning pads) and attache it to the underside of the unit. Fill up the tank and the unit will basically drag a damp cloth around your place. For the most part, this is pretty good in that you're able to get surface stains out from your tile/hardwood floor without needing to get your standard mop/bucket. Doesn't do any deep cleaning but does a decent job at getting any spills or minor stains out.

Pretty standard but nice also
on April 6, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
There's not really too much about this shaver that's "special" I don't think. It's pretty much your standard fare wet/dry shaver. There's no special cleaning stand or battery powered charging case with this one but that still doesn't mean it's not good.
I've used a number of shavers in my time and this is one is pretty decent. I have a more elaborate shaver I use at home however it's not really best for travel. I can travel with it but the case for it is a bit more bulky than I'd like.
This one, however, it well suited for travel as it's pretty much just the shaver. You get the shaver, charging cord as well as a small, nylon travel pouch with this set. Everything fits in pretty nicely there and it's quite light as well.
As far as performance goes, it's decent. I have fairly thin facial hair and, even so, I had to do multiple passes to get all the stubble shaven away. For light, thin facial hair this works OK but if you have thicker facial hair then this might not be what you want.

Minimalist keyboard/mouse combo
on March 26, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
For those looking for that minimalist mouse/keyboard combo, this is a great pickup.
The fit and finish of this combo is really nice. The keyboard has an ultra low profile which looks/works really nice. The mouse, is a bit larger than you typical mouse but really works well with this setup.
I've been using the normal wired mouse/keyboard for a bit but opted to change things up when rearranging my setup. For my work station, it was a bit cluttered with monitors and such and changed that with monitor arms. The mouse/keyboard I'd been using was just antiquated and didn't look "clean
". This setup allowed me A) a nice upgrade in hardware and B) and much more cleaner looking station to work from.
The keyboard is battery powered however there is an On/Off switch. The keys provide good audible feedback without the click/clack of your normal keyboard. Personally, I liked the number pad on my keyboard for the work I do so this full size keyboard fits in nicely. There is a bit of heft to the keyboard however I find it to be quite good in that it provides enough weight so the keyboard doesn't slide around when using it.
The mouse is a perfect size for me. I have a MX Anywhere mouse I've been using for my laptop but I have slightly larger hands. This mouse is their full size mouse so it fits much better in my hand than the MX did. Good DPI on the mouse and customizable thumb buttons as well. Simply, the mouse just fits better which is great.
The combo itself is great for your typical workstation however it also works really well with your smart TV too. I tested it out on my LG 65" smart TV and it worked great for browsing the web there.
All in all, I really dig this setup as it's much more streamlined and minimalist. Works great for any setup although I don't have a Mac to test it on. However, I know these Logitech peripherals are usually a go-to for Mac users.

Good pick for boot drive
on February 10, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
Recently started a new build and am using this for the boot drive. It's a mid range system so, parts wise, it's not top of the line stuff. That said, there are other drives out there that are faster or capable of being faster, but this one does a great job so nearly any application.
Speed wise, it's capable of (up to) 5150 MB/s which is fast enough for any type of system you're building. For gaming, works fine but if you're in the market for a super duper fast NVME then, again, there are other faster ones out there.
I think for the majority of users, whether you're building a new PC or need to replace/upgrade your existing drive, this one would work out just fine. It's not bottom end type of component however it's also not top of the line either. This works best for that mid range application that will suit just about most people's needs.
Great little drive that's fast and pretty reliable (so far). Curious to see what SanDisk has for Gen5 NVMEs but this one looks and works pretty well.

Good quality HP printer
on February 5, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
For those looking for a laserjet printer without the heft/size of a conventional one, this might be worth a look. I've had several laser printers and all of them have been relatively beefy in terms of size/weight. I usually have to put them on a separate stand or cabinet due to their size but, this M140W is rather tiny by comparison.
It's the smallest laserjet HP offers so it's better suited for that home office or small business where you need fast, efficient printing but not having to worry about where you're going to put this thing. It's an HP so print quality is very good. Print speed is also good at 21ppm. As with most other printers, including HP, this is also usable through their app so you can print on the go or do things wirelessly if you need.
The toner for this is also relatively inexpensive at around ~$50 or so which is really nice. Haven't used up a whole toner yet so not sure on output per cartridge but I'm guessing it should be good for a couple thousand prints or so.
Overall, biggest takeaway for this printer is it's a small laserjet. Really like the footprint on this as I can now relocate my older, bigger laserjet somewhere else and still be able to print via the app with this smaller one.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
