I've been a Samsung gaming monitor user for a bit but I got a chance to try out this HP Omen monitor and have been quite impressed so far.
From the get go, it has the usual ports and such you'll find on any monitor out there. This does have 2 HDMI slots as well as a DisplayPort 1.4 port. The speakers on this are OK I'd say. I normally play with a headset so I generally don't use, or care, about any built-in speakers on monitors. That said, they provide decent enough sound if that's what yo8're using during gameplay.
Screen is bright and offers pretty good color. The 280Hz refresh rate is nice. It's faster than my current Samsung Odyssey at 240Hz. Not noticeably different but still plenty fast enough for my system. Comes with HDMI, DisplayPort and USB cables out of the box so you're ready to plug in and get gaming. The RGB on the back is a nice touch too although I'm unable to see it the way my desk is currently setup.
Overall, very nice primary monitor for gaming. Only con is that there is no side to side adjustment on this monitor; only up and down. Might be a big deal for you or not. Since I usually mount my monitors to arms on my desk, this isn't an issue for me.

Never hurts to find better ways to sleep. Whether it be from apps or medication, getting that restful night of sleep is always a great thing. Having sleep issues myself, I often am looking for more effective ways of sleeping which led me to these earbuds.
At first glance, yes, they're earbuds. Nothing really fancy about them however they do come in a pretty cool sliding earbud case which I thought was cool. In addition to the earbuds/case, you get a charging cable and 3 different sized tips for better fit/comfort. Initial setup is the same as any other Bluetooth earbud.
Once you download the smart app, you'll be able to select which sound you want to use with these. there are about a dozen or so but only some of them can be loaded onto the earbuds. In addition, you can also set alarms through the app as well and get battery readouts on the earbuds/case.
These are basically a white noise machine. You can get the those sound makers that play ocean surf or bird chirping or whatever peaceful noise you want to play while sleeping. Only this time, the sound is completely isolated so no outside noises to interfere with your sleep. All you hear is whatever "music" you play and nothing else. Helpful for sleep but also very effective if you want wind down or take a minute for yourself during the day. Helps me kind of zone out but without taking a full blown nap. This was helpful in getting me to sleep a bit better but I find that using these to "zone out" during the day a lot more helpful. Whether you're sitting at your desk or going for a walk, playing these with whatever Zen sound you want, helps decrease tension a bit and just makes things a little more "chill".
2 biggest issues I had with these is 1) updating or replacing the sounds on the earbuds. You can only update one sound at a time and, on average, it took me 10-12 minutes to update the sound. At initial setup, it took over an hour just to update the sounds and there is no "Update All" button available. I had to click Update on one sound, wait 12 minutes and do that again for all the other sounds. I think the sound updating/adding process should be A LOT more streamlined and allow users to perform these tasks all at once insteafd of one by one. 2) the price. This is a white noise machine so you can get something like this anywhere basically. If not the machine itself, then there are smart apps that do the exact same thing for way less. I'm assuming everyone already has some headphones/earbuds already so all you'd really need is an app for the noises.
Having a stand-alone earbuds for this is pretty cool but, considering the price, it may not be for everyone.

Having used numerous earbuds/headphones, I'm pretty particular to your normal in-ear, or over-the-ear, variety. Way back in the Walkman days, you had the cheapo on the ear foam headphones that worked but were somewhat less desirable when it came to sound quality. As such, I never really paid any mind to over-the-ear earbuds as I assumed they wouldn't be that great in terms of sound quality. However, having the chance to use these for a bit, I think I was wrong in my previous assumptions.
Most of the on-ear type headphones I've used all had the same issue; poor sound quality. I'm really a big fan of my Apple Airpods Pro and Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra headphones. Sound quality is great, phone quality is also great too and they just fit really well.
These Shokz OpenFit 2+ were a bit of a 180 for me. I had used some "open" earbuds before but they just didn't sound well and the fit was quite bad. Really didn't have high hopes for these to be honest. BUT....having used them for the past few days now, I'm really impressed with these.
Since these loop over your earlobe, the fit took a bit getting used to. I usually prefer the normal in-ear earbuds so these just felt a bit different to me. Not bad fitting, just different. But, once I got these paired and started playing some music, WOW, really impressed. The sound quality isn't muddled nor is it over saturating. You can easily hear your music, quite well too I might add, as well as background noises. Both are blended quite well without one overpowering the other. If you're the type that blasts your headphones then it might be an issue for you.
With the companion app, you get your typical EQ adjustments which I found quite helpful. I listen to EDM mostly so I usually have a bass boost on by default. The bass on these isn't quite great but it's good enough to where the music still sounds great. Along with the music, the phone sound quality is quite nice as well.
With most, or a lot, of earbud/headphones these days, it's all about noise cancellation to help you enjoy the music. I know most of the manufacturers have settings that enable you to hear background noises as well. Which is great and really helpful but these Shokz earbuds do a great job as earbuds while still allowing you some spatial awareness. I think these are perfect either for the gym or if you're riding the subway where you kind of want to isolate yourself but still need some environmental awareness of your surroundings.
Great pickup for earbuds as sound quality is quite good and fitment is excellent as well. Really like having the option to just grab these for specific use cases whether it be at the gym or riding the subway and not having to fiddle around with settings to allow ANC or pass through usage.

Been using Blink for a bit now ever since Google upped their monthly fees for their service. I found that the Blink service has been really solid and haven't had any issues with them to date.
I've had a couple sticky cams from other manufacturers and they've worked ok; some not so much. Firstly, I liked the size of this camera. It's about hockey puck sized so it's not large at all. Also helps in that it's not too conspicuous when mounted either. I mounted mine indoors so it's not really an issue for me. The included mounting bracket is pretty simple/straight forward so no issues with installation. Camera quality is pretty good. You can change video quality in the app to your liking. One thing I did do was hardwire the camera to a USB-C cable/plug. I'm sure the batteries would hold up for a bit but I really feel more comfortable knowing the camera's on and not having to worry if the camera dies when it's most inconvenient. The included sync module helps out a bit if you plan on adding more cameras or other Blink items.

Recently got my gigabit internet and really loving the increase in speeds. I wanted a little nicer router to match with my new internet.
The OEM router that came with my service was really wonky so, whilst getting that sorted out, figured a new router would help resolve this issue and get me gaming again.
At first glance, it looks like any other normal router. There is some nice RGB on the front along with all the status lights. Router is small-ish but still need some room for this. There are dedicated USB 3.0 slot and WPS button. There are 8 ethernet ports where 2 of them can be dedicated for gaming which is really nice. I have my PC plugged into one of them and a separate wifi extender plugged into the other one.
Biggest pro here for me has been the coverage. I live in a 2 bedroom condo so it's not big but there are some weird angles in my place. The reason I had the wifi extender was because of this. However, with this router, I don't really need the extender anymore. I get great coverage everywhere in my place with not a whole lot of speed variance.
Speeds have been a bit more consistent as well with this router. I'm able to have my iDevices/TV/PC as well as several other devices connected to the router without any issues in either speed or connectivity.

I've been a wired headset user for awhile and looking to get a decent wireless headset. I've had a couple wireless ones in the past but none really fit the bill quite right. Either the sound was off, wireless connection was spotty or the headset just didn't fit right for one reason or another. With this headset though, it checked off a lot of boxes for me and I'm thinking I've found my go-to wireless headset now.
For background, I've been using Astro A40s, seemingly, forever now. Good sound, mic is clear and static free, fits nicely and is comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. Biggest two cons I had with it were that they weren't wireless and there's no noise cancelling on them. Having used this headset for a few days now, I'm really pleasantly surprised with these and it's coming time to, possibly, retire my A40s.
Sound is crisp and clear. Whether gunshots in the distance or footsteps nearby, I can hear everything really clearly. Background noises in game are distinct but not muddled. All of this is aided by the ANC on these headphones. Blocks out quite a bit of the ambient background noise in my place so everything in game comes through crystal clear. Mic is also clear as well and teammates complimented me on how better I sound.
Fit is also a plus for me. For those of you with big heads (I wear a 7 1/2 fitted cap) this one fits very comfortably with no head pinch. The earpads are a micro-suede type fabric. Not really my preferred ear pad material but they keep my ears cool during long gaming sessions. Button placement on the headset is quite intuitive so no fumbling around for this or that switch. Volume control is easily accessible and easy to manipulate as well.
Only "downside" I can think of is that I kinda wished there was some RGB on this but that's superficial. Main point is these wireless headphones are great and looking forward to more gaming sessions with these bad boys.

That said, really nice gaming keyboard for those in the market for a 60% one. I know some die hards need their wireless keyboards but this one performs very nicely and have had zero issues with it so far.
Normally, I use a full size (100%) keyboard; both for gaming and productivity. Wanting a little change in the gaming setup, I opted for this 60% one so that I can keep both keyboards on my desk without taking up too much space and so that I can easily swap as needed.
The keyboard itself is really tiny. Took a bit to get used to coming from a 100% size one but it's for gaming so I don't really need all the "extra" keys. There are a number of gaming profiles you can choose for this keyboard/layouts. Some of the more popular titles like COD, Fortnite, etc. Within the Steelseries app, you can select/customize these as needed. I think the RGB on this is a tad weak but that's a personal preference. Could be brighter is all I'm saying.
But the key stroke customization is where it's at. With more and more keyboards these days, you get snappier, more customizable keys that feel great. Whether it be the rapid tap or rapid trigger setup you want, you can tailor the keys to operate how you want them to based on which keys are pressed, last key pressed and how hard you press the keys. For FPS games, which is what I mostly play, these are great in getting the extra millisecond drop in enemies.

Lots of wireless options out there from big names to smaller ones. Biggest thing to consider is the coverage of the provider. Aside from the big boys, most of these smaller providers utilize the larger networks at a smaller fee.
This Lively service comes from Best Buy Health. It's aimed towards senior citizens due to the low(er) monthly cost and the basic/simpler services provided. Nothing really fancy, or too fancy, here in terms of services. However they do have a number of services (based on your monthly plan) that are geared towards seniors and their daily needs/activities. Things like Care Agents, prescriptions aid, as well as health and wellness benefits.
Biggest pro here is that they utilize the Verizon network. Easily the best of the big networks in my opinion. There are a couple dead spots in the area near me but it's similar with all the other networks I've used so no biggie. That said, great reception overall.
As with most other providers, you can bring your own phone or purchase one of the Jitterbug phones from their website.

I think these automated door locks are a must-have these days. They're just so convenient while still being secure. No more fumbling around with keys when loaded with grocery bags or fumbling around in the dark trying to unlock the door. With previous models, you had an app or keyfob to automatically unlock the door. Or, if your door lock was capable of it, you had geo-fencing that would unlock just from getting near your door. This lock takes it a step further with palm reading which is somewhat new but just as convenient.
I've had a couple of these door locks and all worked well. Although I did have a major issue with my previous one that cost me a locksmith to open my door. That being said, still enjoy having these locks for both security and convenience.
This one is unique in that it unlocks by scanning your palm. There is a keypad for manual unlocking but this utilizes your palm to unlock the lock. I've seen/heard this technology being used in China for payments so it works but still might be a bit too "new" for some folks. I had my concerns about this just because I hadn't heard that much of it being used state side, let along with unlocking doors.
So far, it's been pretty accurate. I would imagine it would have to be so if it's used for things like payments/commerce. Still though, I was a tad leery about it since I wasn't 100% sure on its stability and functionality. As mentioned before, it works pretty well and I haven't had any lock out issues with it.
Battery life was another thing of concern as well for me. With most door locks you power them by AA/AAA batteries which has to potential to die on you when least expected. This one solves that issue both with battery use as well as a rechargeable battery within the unit.
The camera on this is cool as well. I have a separate door bell cam already so this one may be replacing that as well since it'll be somewhat redundant to have two cameras on my front door.
Overall, I like it and it works well. I know some may have some reservations with this new technology but it works well for me so no complaints.

I've had a number of different home security devices in my place like sensors, camera, etc. Biggest issue I've encountered is just the confusion with using different apps in order to use them. Sure, some of these devices work with Google Home/Homekit but not all so that usually leaves me having a single app to control this one device while the others can be used with the other home services. This set from Simplisafe eliminates that while still enabling modularity in the future with upgrades or added devices.
The set included a few window/door sensors, as well as a motion sensor; camera, keypad and the main hub. Simply using these devices will pretty much ensure coverage for your place without needing to get any additional sensors or devices. I live in a condo so, sq ft wise, there's not a whole lot to cover so this set does the job perfectly.
I can the the camera covering both my living room/front door and the window sensors in my bedrooms. I'll probably put the motion sensor either in my kitchen or the main hallway. I am thinking I might need/want some more window/door sensors but we'll see. With the keypad, I can activate/deactivate while I'm coming or going or, I can use the app for that as well.
As far as upgrades, I know they have doorlocks and CO2 sensors so I might get those in the future. Overall, I'm liking the set AND the fact that I can add on to it down the road without needing to add another hub or utilize a different app to do that. For now, I'm in the process of removing my old setup and will have this one in place to continue monitoring my place.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
ByLouRevuefromWashington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here. The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops. While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.
It took a bit of time to setup my laptop as well. Have you tried uninstalling the bloatware on this laptop? I did and I don't have any issues with boot speed or anything else on my laptop.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.
I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.
Brighten your day and night with this Philips Being Hue ceiling light. The dimming function lets you set an ambience for different moods, and it works with the Philips Hue dimmer switch and mobile app for versatile control. The ZigBee technology of this 32W Philips Being Hue ceiling lamp provides smooth, efficient interoperability with multiple Hue lighting units.
Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.
Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
