Excellent productivity laptop
on May 9, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
If you're in the market for a decent, do-most-anything laptop that won't break the bank, this Acer offering is worth a look.
Decent specs on this one. 16GB memory along with 1TB of storage. Responsive touch screen with lay flat hinge design and newer Ryzen AI chipset.
I found this laptop to be quite capable for just about all "standard" processes. While you won't be gaming on this laptop anytime soon, for most other productivity activities like ChatGPT, spreadsheets/powerpoints, media consumption and the like, this thing works quite well for all those activities.
The specs on this laptop are enough that it'll process whatever you need it to. I didn't get the chance to test any processor intensive video or image tasks, I think it should handle most any task you throw at this without issue.
Touch screen is nice and responsive. Wprks great with the lay flat hinge on this laptop for content consumption.
Overall, very nice addition for someone looking for a do-all laptop that's relatively inexpensive and lightweight.

Great keyboard from Corsair
on May 5, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Finding myself really digging this keyboard from Corsair. Slowly getting used to the size/layout. Normally I use a full size keyboard for gaming however I have started trying out 75% and even a couple 60% ones to get a better feel and such.
The overall build of this keyboard is super nice. With it being machined out of aluminum, there is both a nice look/feel to it in addition to the weight which I'm starting to like. It feels like a sturdy, expensive piece of equipment (which it is). Also the performance is quite nice too.
It's quiet. I know lots of people love their clicky/clacky keyboard but I prefer something a bit more muted for my gaming keyboard. Keystrokes feel very crisp while being quiet and seemingly quite responsive to the touch. I know the keys on here are top notch and they feel/work like they do. RGB on the keyboard seems ok. It's not too muted nor is it super duper seizure inducing light show. Very nice and professional looking.
Overall a great keyboard both in operation and build quality

Nice upgrade to the system
on May 5, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Like most people, I've been using the mic on my headset for communicating online. It works and no real issues with it however, every once in awhile, the mic will cut out along with the headset or some other issue will pop up with the system. I opted to use this stand alone mic along with my newer headset for my PC system in hopes it'll give me a more reliable setup.
I'll be honest, it takes a little while getting used to the stand alone mic if you've never used one before. I will say that it is a little more convenient having this separate peripheral however I do recommend getting a boom arm or something to mount this mic to. I'm looking for something similar just to allow me greater range of motion with this and putting it wherever I want to.
Performance wise, I see no issues with this setup in terms of reliability. I haven't had any issues with the mic cutting out or getting crossed out/over with the headset mic. Everything seems to be working great for the time being.
My companions have also noted how different/better my voice sounds now with this mic. You have the option to adjust/refine your voice with this mic as well as some built-in faetures that enhance overall sound and such.

Slick looking controller
on May 3, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Despite me being a PC gamer, I use controllers for my gameplay. I'm a Playstation convert so I just couldn't get used to mouse and keyboard when making the switch :(
Using a vast variety of controllers in my time, I've had the opportunity to use controllers from a variety of manufacturers. While the OEM controllers are nice, they generally don't last long and often break down pretty quick from my experience.
This GameSir controller was pretty nice looking and offers some features that are better than your normal controller. The controller has a a couple mappable buttons both underneath the controller as well as 2 more near the bumpers which is cool. I find the paddle buttons are relatively easy to push and aren't too out of the way when gaming.
The optical buttons is interesting as well as they're supposed to last longer than your analog buttons liek with OEM controllers. Haven't had this controller long enough to test this but it's one of the things I'm looking to track with this controller.
Probably the biggest feature for me is the "ANTI stick-drift" claim from this manufacturer. Biggest issue I've had with other controllers is stick drift. Hopefully this one will last longer than OEM controllers did.

Great addition to the gaming headset collection
on April 30, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
I've been able to test out quite a few gaming headsets and this one is a strong competitor in that market. It provides great sound and compatible with all platforms making this the one headset you'll need to get into the gaming action.
From the wireless standpoint, this is probably one of the better ones I've used. There's no lag with the connection and the connection is solid or has been very solid for me. I've had other headsets where the sound would cut in/out pretty frequently even for a "high end" headset. This one, haven't had any issue with sound cutting out which is just splendid.
I've been seeing a few manufacuturers incorporating swappable batteris in their devices and this is something I can get behind. Having switched to wireless headsets, it's quite liberating to not be tied down with cables anymore however, the battery life on some of these headsets leaves a lot to be desired. No more with these swappable batteries as I can now just keep them charged up and swap out whenever needed. Great feature in my opinion.

Best robot vac I've used so far
on April 30, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
I've used a couple different robot vacs in my time and this one has to be the best one I've gotten to try. Setup is pretty simple and the training of the robot vac is a bit nicer than what it was with some of my older model ones. The fact this does both dry vac and wet mop makes this is great addition to every household.
Most of the robot vacs I've used were just the "basic" ones that vacuumed. This being one of the newer ones where it's both a vacuum and mop, offers a great boost in functionality and time saving activities.
With the companion app, it's pretty easy to setup and operate the robot vac that way. Once you get the unit trained for your floor layout and whatever schedule you want to run it on then it'll be pretty much on auto-pilot after that point.
Power wise, it does a pretty good job at sucking up all the little bits of dirt and debris around my place. After each run, it leaves my floors looking clean and dirt free which is what you're looking for here. Also, it tasks a little less time than other models did which is nicer as well.

Nice, sturdy case for your iPhone
on April 30, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Pretty decent case from a name brand, reputable case manufacturer. I've seen and used a couple Casetify cases in the past as they provide good, seemingly well built cases and this one is no different.
The case is seemingly well built. It feels sturdy and isn't too slippery when held which is nice. All the cutouts are good so no issues with cable fitment or anything like that. Protection wise, I think the case is stout enough where it'll protect from pretty much any major fall. The camera lenses have a raised bezel on them so there's room there for protection and the front lip is present so it should spare the screen from direct falls.
The MagSafe ring on the back is a niuce touch. For some, it sits elevated from the case. Most other cases have the ring either embedded in the case or it sits flush with the case. Some people might find this ugly but it is what it is. The ring serves as a phone holder as well as phone stand for viewing your phone.
Overall, nice little case that offers pretty good protection

A very capable laptop for work/home
on April 21, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Pretty impressed with this laptop. Been using this for a couple weeks now and am pleasantly surprised with its performance.
I was interested in this model since it's one of those 2-in-1 laptops so it'll function like a "normal" laptop as well as a tablet if need be. It's 16" in size so there's plenty of real estate to do normal, laptop related stuff in addition to whatever content viewing activities you have. Good size and weight for this laptop.
Specs are pretty solid and enable you to do pretty much what you need on here without running into any hardware issues. This isn't a gaming laptop by any means but it will handle pretty much any multimedia tasks you have in addition to some light gaming capabilities.
Nice solid layout of the laptop however, my one biggest pet peeve with this laptop is the placement of the power button on the keyboard. It's located in the upper right hand corner of the keyboard so the potential for accidental shut offs is present unfortunately.
I will say the tablet configuration of this laptop is really nice and not too laggy. Works great if you ju8st want to be lazy on the couch and surf the net or watch a movie or something

Quality gaming monitor
on April 21, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
If you're in the market for a new(er) monitor or looking to add a second one to your setup, the Samsung Odyssey G5 is a decent bet to go with.
If you're on the fence as to whether or not to get a flat screen or curved monitor, you will be fine with this setup as it provides excellent viewing angle in addition to excellent graphics clarity.
You get the standard connections with this monitor so you can hook up either your PC or gaming console with ease. Monitor clarity is quite nice to say the least. You can get very deep blacks with this monitor that can be accentuated using the Black Equalizer feature on this monitor. Response time is gaming quality and the Refresh rate provides lag free playing (assuming your GPU can handle it).
A nice, but somewhat forgotten feature, of this monitor is the adjustability of it. You get height, swivel and pivot abillity with this monitor so no need for that monitor riser or phonebook to even out your shiny new monitor.
All in all, a very capable monitor either as your main monitor or secondary.

Perfect feeling mouse
on April 9, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Not really much you can say when it comes to finding a "lightweight" mouse. I mean, honestly, they're all lightweight so how can one really tell if their mouse is a lightweight one or qualifies as a lightweight mouse?
No one goes out looking for a heavy mouse.....some people do....but most players want something lightweight and quick when it comes to picking their gaming mouse. Having used this mouse for better part of a month, feel is what you want and this combo of lightweight and touch/feel, really set this mouse a part from the rest.
As with any PC gaming mouse, this one has the ability to program/customize buttons to whatever you need them to be. This mouse also has the ability to program lift off/rotation/DPI settings as well which is not present in a lot of software today.
However, the biggest difference I noticed was in the optical wheel/switches. Most mice, these are mechanical, they click, so you know when it's been pressed and when you activate the button. Pretty standard fare so nothing really out of the ordinary there. But with the optical switches on this mouse, everything just feels to precise. Everything just feels better and more responsive which is a huge advantage when playing.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Bloatware?

It took a bit of time to setup my laptop as well. Have you tried uninstalling the bloatware on this laptop? I did and I don't have any issues with boot speed or anything else on my laptop.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Brighten your day and night with this Philips Being Hue ceiling light. The dimming function lets you set an ambience for different moods, and it works with the Philips Hue dimmer switch and mobile app for versatile control. The ZigBee technology of this 32W Philips Being Hue ceiling lamp provides smooth, efficient interoperability with multiple Hue lighting units.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
