Corsair quality. Great budget headset
on June 10, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
If you're in the market for a budget friendly gaming headset, Corsair comes through with their HS35 v3. It's a good blend of quality performance headset that's reasonable priced. This model comes in both wireless and wired varieties.
Having used a few gaming headsets in my time, finding decent ones that don't break the bank is slowly becoming more and more of a chore. With the HS35, you get a good sounding set of headsets, compatible with most platforms, all for a reasonable price.
The fit is quite good on these even for me who has a rather larger head. I can play for hours with these on without any discomfort and the fabric earpads ensure there's no sweaty headset after long gaming sessions.
Sound wise, as you'[d expect from Corsair. Good sound both from the speakers and the mic. Didn't have any issues with team members hearing me or them during gameplay. I'm sure the wireless version of this headset offers decent battery life but I much prefer wired headsets since I'm on PC.
Very nice headset without needing to budget in another paycheck to afford this one.

Earpods need to watch their back.
on June 10, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
For the longest time, Apple Earpods have been my go-to headphones. From listening to music, taking phone calls and just having them in for whatever; they've found a nice place in my ears for all my audio needs. However, these new earbuds from Anker are seriously giving my Earpods a run for their money.
Sound wise, spot on and excellent as one would expect. The noise cancellation on these is on par with virtually any earbuds/headphones I've used thus far. Sound for music is excellent as well since you have the option/ability to change sound settings/EQ on these through the earbud case. Same for phone calls. Very high quality sound and no issues with lag or choppy sound.
The extra touch with these earbuds comes with the case. The case, in addition to acting as an extra battery., can also function as a secondary mic for recording meetings and even a remote shutter for your phone's camera. The case itself enables a slew of settings and other adjustable menu items through the earbuds. Things from audio settings to battery levels can ne cycled through using the screen on the case which is really convenient I've found.
That said, it's missing the real time translation the Earpods have but Anker is slowly catching up in terms of their earbuds games which is a pleasant to see.

Great headset for the road warrior or WFH
on June 1, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Great headset to pickup if you're in the market for something not quite a full blown headset but something you still need to take calls with hands free. Usually I see truckers or heavy drivers wearing these types of headsets. If you need something hands free but not quite as dainty as a Bluetooth headset then something like this is right up your alley.
Firstly, the fit of this is quite nice. Sometimes, headsets can feel a bit restrictive depending on your headset, size of your head, etc. Something like this fits much
better and is more comfortable longer term than a headset I feel.
Like with any other Bluetooth headset, this is pretty much a setup and forget it accessory. Once it's paired up with your phone and on, connectivity is pretty spot on and consistent. Sound quality, both audio and speech, is spot on as well. Crystal clear audio thanks to the noise cancellation on this headset and didn't receive any complaints about my voice crackling or coming in weak.
While this type of headset is geared more for distance drivers, if you work from home or just need a hands free option for calls, this headset also works great in that respect too.

Nice take on health wearables
on May 29, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
There's lots of wearable electronics these days from watches to rings and everything in between. They're nice in that they help track health and sleep cycles and such. Having had a few of these wearables, they're really good depending on the need you have for them.
Like many people, I started off with an Apple Watch to track normal health stats. Thing is that I found it to be a little overkill for things for passive activities, specifically sleeping. Depending on the band you have, the watch can feel a little too much or uncomfortable when you're wearing it while sleeping.
Enter the FitBit where it's a lot better geared for sleep tracking simply due to it size. It's really just a band so no screen or watch face to distract you while wearing it. It's just a wear it and forget it type accessory. There's no screen on it so less potential for distractionns from it, but also there's no way to easily view your stats without grabbing your phone. I feel this isn't as big an issue as I thought it would be since it forces you to check your phone only when needed.
The Google Health app enables you to track all the pertinent information you'd expect from a wearable with the ability to customize which stats you can track in the dashboard.
The FitBit weighs next to nothing so you hardly \know it's there. But it tracks lots of useful info while out and about.

Massive upgrade for your PC
on May 27, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Upgrading your hard drive can be one of the most efficient speed upgrades you can perform to increase speed of your PC and increasing HD capacity. Only downside is the price, especially considering today's economy.
There was a time when 1TB was large enough for any PC/Laptop but with games/applications these days getting ridiculously massive, hard drive space is now a premium. Going with a 2TB is usually the best recommendation these days.
Biggest thing when upgrading your hard drive is the speed and also, what type of drive it is. NVME are the rage while the older spindle or spinning HDs have, mostly, gone by the way side. In my system, I have 5 NVME drives and I can tell you, speed is not an issue with my system. Most of the read/write speeds on my NVMEs are pretty decent but I have a couple in the 6,000mb/s range. This drive puts out an impressive 7,300mb/s read/write speed which will certainly upgrade your PC.
This particular model comes in 4TB and 8Tb models however, if you want one of those, you'll need to really examine your needs and your annual income to make sure you can afford them.
Only "caveat" to this is that there is an attachedf heatsink on the hard drive. Depending on your motherboard layout, NVMEs with heatsinks can cause some fitment issues so be aware of that.

Slim and sleek personal printer
on May 27, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Usually when you get a small/sleek printer, their functionality can be somewhat limited. Either they have a small paper tray or only print or just whatever. Still though, with today's multi-function printers this seems to be a thing of the past however there are some instances where smaller is better.
This 6155 printer is a personal printer for sure. You won't be churning out stacks of presentations with this any time soon. This is more for personal printing needs. I like the small footprint of this printer. It's very sleek looking, short/skinny/etc, pretty much what you'd want in a personal printer.
It has some decent "stats" as it were, it's somewhat inexpensive, small footprint, all-in-one functionality, touchscreen and app printing/capability. Paper tray is 100 sheets which is plenty enough for just about anyone or any printing job you may have. The instant ink subscription enables you to always have ink on hand. And for a small(er) printer which might be used considerably less than your large office printer, always having some ink on hand is never a bad thing.

Nice, medium duty printer for home/office
on May 23, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
I've been using HP printers for quite some time now and this one is no different in terms of reliability or performance.
From low end inkjets to higher end laser printers, I've used numerous different model HP printers and I've never really had any major issue with them. With this printer, this offers a great option for a small office and/or work setting pretty easily. This printer offers your standard all-in-one performance that you need to whatever productivity options you need for work/school.
25 PPM which is pretty fast for most purposes; decent sized paper tray at 250 sheets. Printing is pretty easy using the HP companion smart app. I haven't gotten to the point where I need to swap cartridges so I can't comment on how long they last. Based on previous experience though, I don't see any issues with ink cartridges either from the cartridges themselves or the availability of them thanks to the smart ink system.
This printer is a tad on the larger size so that's really the only big con I can think of.

Top notch touch for your flight sim setup
on May 23, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
I think for PC gamers, having a sweet racing or flight sim setup is peak gaming. I've been interested in getting both of these setup for my system for the longest time so it's great that I can start with my flight sim setup.
Primarily been playing Microsoft flight sim along with some Ace Combat thrown in there for good measure. Biggest thing for me was the "authenticity" of the equipment for my setup. I didn't want some cheap plastic looking joystick as my main throttle so I wanted something that looked real world and this Moza racing stick fir the bill quite nicely.
The fit/feel of the joystick is great. The form and flow of the controller, the clicks of the buttons and overall movement are really what I was looking for in my main throttle joystick. The feel more than anything it what really stood out for me. It just has a great feel to it especially when gaming. The feedback on the stick is top notch as well.
My rig overall is still a work in progress but this centerpiece, if you will, has earned its place in my setup and hopefully will last for some time.

Good entry level PC for home/small business
on May 23, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
Pretty much a no frills PC for small office/work/school needs. Powerful enough to handle most day to day tasks but without breaking the bank.
From a specifications perspective, this might be the most jaw dropping PC out there but this can still get the job done for what you need it to. AMD Ryzen processor allows enough power to run pretty much any application you need without issue. 16GB RAM is decent enough. There is a second free RAM slot should you feel the need to update/upgrade. It's DDR5 RAM so fast enough for the time being. Only a 512GB hard drive but it is a NVME so it's fast at least. You can enough expansion slots/USB for additional storage options if you get to that point.
You won't be doing any gaming on this PC since it's integrated graphics AND the PSU on this is pretty low. From a graphics perspective though, it'll function properly on any HD monitor so no issue there.
Overall though, for basic school work or even small office needs. this is a great little PC to have setup and used. Decent power and options ensure this will be usable for quite some time.

Excellent productivity laptop
on May 9, 2026
Posted by: LouRevue
If you're in the market for a decent, do-most-anything laptop that won't break the bank, this Acer offering is worth a look.
Decent specs on this one. 16GB memory along with 1TB of storage. Responsive touch screen with lay flat hinge design and newer Ryzen AI chipset.
I found this laptop to be quite capable for just about all "standard" processes. While you won't be gaming on this laptop anytime soon, for most other productivity activities like ChatGPT, spreadsheets/powerpoints, media consumption and the like, this thing works quite well for all those activities.
The specs on this laptop are enough that it'll process whatever you need it to. I didn't get the chance to test any processor intensive video or image tasks, I think it should handle most any task you throw at this without issue.
Touch screen is nice and responsive. Wprks great with the lay flat hinge on this laptop for content consumption.
Overall, very nice addition for someone looking for a do-all laptop that's relatively inexpensive and lightweight.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Bloatware?

It took a bit of time to setup my laptop as well. Have you tried uninstalling the bloatware on this laptop? I did and I don't have any issues with boot speed or anything else on my laptop.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Brighten your day and night with this Philips Being Hue ceiling light. The dimming function lets you set an ambience for different moods, and it works with the Philips Hue dimmer switch and mobile app for versatile control. The ZigBee technology of this 32W Philips Being Hue ceiling lamp provides smooth, efficient interoperability with multiple Hue lighting units.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
