Great wireless gaming keyboard
on December 1, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
Like most other PC gamers out there, I've used quite a few different keyboards. Each had their own uniqueness to the them but I've never used a wireless one before so this was a treat.
I have various configuration of keyboards from 100%, tenkeyless and 75% wired. Personally, the 100% size fits me the best however that's for normal "work" related usage. For gaming, I feel the 75% works best for me.
Using this keyboard for a bit now, I can see the benefits of using this smaller keyboard layout for gaming. For one, there's less keys to worry about. Most keys are the WASD ones along with a few others but the smaller keyboard, visually, just makes better sense IMO
Aside from the RGB, which is a must for any gaming keyboard, you have the ability to swap keycaps on this one. I'm not too savvy on which keycaps work/feel better however, should I want to, it's nice knowing I have this option for upgraded performance.
Key clicks are clicky but but not too clicky. Just the right balance I think. As far as the OLED display/dial, I think it's OK but it's a bit too small for usage I think. Good to easily see what settings you've applied to your keyboard. I use it to display system temps/info for now.
Connectivity has been good so far. Haven't had any issues with lag or dropped connection which is nice. Overall, pretty nice intro to wireless gaming keyboard for me.

Great functionality but horrible fit
on November 20, 2024

For the road warriors in need of a decent hands-free headset, this is an option to look into.
I'm no road warrior, per se, however I do travel a bit for work so those times when I need to answer an important call, I usually have to pull over and answer the call then. I have bluetooth in my truck however it's an older truck so the connectivity is a bit spotty. I could use my earbuds but, at least near me, any sort of hearing device used while driving equals a tasty little ticket if you're caught. So I figured a headset like this would solve my issues while also keeping me from paying hefty fines while driving.
I initial connected this to my trucks Bluetooth which is then paired with my phone. It worked OK, surprisingly, however there were some connectivity issues which I attribute to my older system. but once I connected it to my phones Bluetooth then it paired easily and no issues with connectivity.
Controls are pretty simple and easy to access while driving. Simple On/Off button, Volume Up/Down and Mute. Again, easy to use/access without distracting you from driving. Included with this headset are some foam tips for the mic as well as for the earpad on the headset, charging cable as well as a charger for your cigarette lighter.
Sound quality was good and voice seems to come through just fine. I had no issues with people on the other end of the line complaining they couldn't hear me so I think that's good in my book. Functions/operates just as any headset you would expect.
Biggest issue I had with this was the fit. This headset in particular is marketed towards truckers. For something that's supposed to be used, long term, by drivers, this thing was SUPER tight on my head. I wear a 7 1/2 fitted cap and this just felt uncomfortable to wear, even for a few minutes. Even with the headset extended all the way, fit was very tight and awkward. The piece that fits to the side of your head is almost at the 10 o clock position on my head. That's without a hat. With a hat on, it just doesn't fit comfortably at all. If the side piece could also extend out then that would solve this problem easily but not sure why it's not setup that way.
So if you have a small noggin then this would work just fine. For those with larger melons, the fit of this thing will probably be an issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great kitchen mixer/food processor
on November 12, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
If you're heavy into mixing/food processing then this would be a nice little pickup for the kitchen.
Like most people, I have an inexpensive food processor and blender however they're pretty cheap and are getting old. This set was a nice pickup in that it's an all-in-one of sorts. There's three different uses for this blender so you're pretty much covered, whatever your blending needs are.
I don't drink milkshakes or use any protein powders or anything like that so the tumbler really isn't something that I'll use a bunch. Nice that it's included but not really my thing. Nice thing about this is that the "lid" has the blades in it so you can go straight from mixing to drinking without any issue.
The food processor is something I'm looking to utilize quite a bit. I recently got into making my own salsas so this thing will come in quite handy for that prep work. it comes with a couple different blades so you have options for how you want to process your food. Everything is nestled into one unit so it's easy to use/transport/etc. Bottom screws out from the mixer so it's super easy tio clean.
The blender is pretty much what it looks like. Nothing really out of the ordinary here with that. Biggest thing here for me is that it replaces my dated appliances and now I have this all-in-one system with a bit more flexibility. Really nice system here and looking to test out some new salsa recipes with it

Retro styling at its finest
on November 7, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
As a PC gamer, you always want the latest and up-to-date technology simply because. Yeah, it'll help you out in game, look really cool and max out your cards but, still, we need these things.
However, for this setup, it's the complete opposite almost. This is a retro styled keyboard that'll bring back a lot of memories for old gamers like myself. The Nintendo NES themed keyboard set is really a nice touch to use on any PC and it's quite functional as well.
The keyboard is really striking IMO. The color scheme is spot on with old NES look and feel, the keys give that nice click/clack sound. With the style, the keyboard is also up-to-date with shortcut keys and knobs for volume and such. Only real bummer is that it's not backlit but, none of the stuff back in the days was so eh.
The joysticks add another level of fun to this whole setup too. You're able to play old games, perhaps on emulators, using these for really old school games. Really nice setup here and reasonably priced. While this may not appeal to the hardcore gamer, it definitely is a nice refreshing touch for us older guys

The CORSAIR K70 PRO TKL empowers you to react faster and overtake all opponents. Its ultra-quick performance is driven by CORSAIR MGX Hyperdrive magnetic switches with Rapid Trigger, which instantly resets keys to enable agile movements once thought impossible. Paired with 8,000Hz hyper-polling via AXON, actions register in just 0.125ms – that’s eight times faster than most gaming keyboards. MGX Hyperdrive’s Hall effect sensor calibrates each key’s actuation distance to your playstyle, from 0.4mm to 3.6mm. And two layers of sound dampening tame typing sounds, for keypresses that sound as nice as they feel. When milliseconds matter, speed is everything, and K70 PRO TKL sets the pace.

Eagerly awaited keyboard and well deserved
on November 7, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
Been using a variety of keyboards recently for my gaming rig and this Corsair one has been a really nice addition so far.
For most people, a keyboard is a keyboard. There are some differences or features that are better than some but, mostly, any keyboard will do. However, for gaming, we sometimes need that little bit extra to max out performance and usability and this K70 Pro satisfies a lot of that for gamers.
As usual, the RGB goodness is there. With the iCue software, you can trick out the RGB to your hearts content.
What makes this keyboard stand out is the Hall effect keys and the ability to customize the keys to your specific needs. With most keyboards, there is a set threshold that activates the keys or registers the key press. With this keyboard, you can customize the length the keys travel in order to activate the key press. Might not sound like much but, for gaming, this enables you to get the millisecond drop on your enemy. You also have the ability to have a single keystroke perform two actions as well. For FPS games, this is huge and a greatly added feature to the keyboard.

Great air fryer to add to the kitchen.
on October 31, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
With the popularity in air fryers these days, it's nice to see updates/upgrades to them which enable them to be more feature driven devices rather than an oddity in the kitchen.
I've owned a few air fryers in my days and these newer ones with touchscreen displays, larger capacities and modularity are a welcome upgrade.
"Most" air fryers you see will look like this one, for the most part. Typical squarish body with removable drawer/tray is the norm when it comes to these air fryers.
I like this model specifically for the touchscreen controls and divided basket. Other air fryers I had were push button or knobs so, aesthetically, these just look nicer to me. Also, since it's a screen, cleaning them is much easier now than with the old controls too.
Cook times are pretty much spot on and everything I've cooked has come out pretty well. One of the bigger features in this air fryer is the ease in cleaning them. I hated having to clean my old air fryers just due to their awkward size and food being burnt onto the bottom of the tray pan. With this one though, that's MUCH easier now so I'm happy with that.
And the other nice feature of this air fryer is the divided basket. I know a lot more air fryers are coming out like this but having this setup allows me to make two different meals/food more easily and without the inevitable mashing up of different foods like with older air fryers. I seem to have an affinity for potatoes so I cook a lot of fries, potatoes au gratin, hash browns and the like with this thing. The divided basket allows me to cook different potato dishes evenly and without them being mashed together.

Great beginner/intermediate drone
on October 31, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I recently got into drones and I feel it's a great activity for just about anyone. You can get the cheap drones for like $40 and really expensive ones for $1000 or so. This one fits very comfortably whether you're a novice or an intermediate drone user.
I own a DJI drone and it works great. Great battery life, great features and just overall really fun to use. Downside is that it's $2k-$5k depending on which model you get. This Contixo drone has most of the features a higher priced drone would have at nearly 1/10th the cost. Sure, it's not some high end model but, to start with or use as a secondary drone, it's great.
You get everything you need to start flying right out of the box. Everything comes in a nice little carrying case too. You get the drone, battery, controller and cables to start off with. This model utilizes your smart phone so you'll have to provide that.
Probably one of the nicest features of this drone are the different flight modes. You get a few different mode like Follow Me, Way Point as well as a selfie mode which is pretty cool. My favorite would have to be the Follow Me mode when walking to the woods.
Connectivity seems pretty good. This model has some decent range (1700ft) so you'll be able to get high enough to take advantage of the drone. The pictures/vids are pretty good, not great, but good enough for just about anyone.
Probably the biggest downside is the battery life on this drone,. It's good for about 25 minutes or so. If this is something you're going to invest in then getting additional batteries would be my recommendation.
That said, if you're looking to get into drones and don't want a super cheap one, this would be a great entry level drone for you. Decent features but at a reasonable price

OK but not as nice as other Sony earbuds
on October 9, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I've been a big fan of the Sony earbuds/headphones for quite some time now. Biggest feature for me being their Extra Bass setting which is great for the music I listen to as well as their noise cancelling feature. I have their WH1000XM3 headphones as well as their WF-1000XM3 earbuds which are probably my most favorite for listening to music. Both these have great sound and noise cancellation but these LinkBuds kinda fall flat compared to these other ones I have.
As far as sound, they sound OK in my opinion. There isn't that ooompf on those low bass notes like with the other headphones I have. Even with the noise cancelling active, still not really that impressive to me. Highs/Mids come out OK but doesn't seem as crisp as one would expect.
My biggest complaint with these is the fit. I have normal ears and have no problem with using the Sony headphones/earbuds, Beats or Apple Air Pods. The fit with these LinkBuds is downright terrible for me. They don't fit well at all no matter how I position them or how tightly I cram them in my ear. As such, they come loose just from walking, chewing food or talking. Unless I hold my head completely still, they'll fall out. The right one, specifically, WILL NOT STAY PUT and it drives me crazy. I've already dropped them several times just from them falling out on their own. Kind of makes it impossible to enjoy and music when this keeps happening.
These earbuds come with a very small charging/storage case which is nice as well as short USB-C cable for charging.
Normally I love Sony audio products but I'm not really sure what they were trying to accomplish with these.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Super nice and perfect if you have a small place
on October 9, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
I'm not too competent when it comes to the kitchen so anything that'll help me cook food more easily/quicker, is a nice bonus for me. This thing checks off a lot of things (cooking wise) that you need but with a much smaller footprint.
I have a nice microwave as well as another air fryer but this thing is on another level. It's a microwave on steroids or a mini oven whichever way you look at it. It's capable of so many things that I haven't even begun to try them all out.
it'll cook/bake/air fry and even dehydrate food, all in one unit. Pretty much anything you need to cook, you can cook it in here and it's relatively small so it'll fit anywhere in your kitchen. If needed, it's sorta portable too so you could take it to your family gathering for cookouts and such.
I've only tried baking some pizzas/wings in mine but it worked great for that. This includes a couple different trays depending on the food you're cooking, so you won't need to worry about bringing the right pan/tray or anything. With my older air fryer, I liked to cook wings in there but since it was circular, only a few would fit in it at any given time. With the trays in this fryer, I can add more and spread them out evenly for that perfect cook. Pizzas came out quite nice as well.
The controls are all on the handle of the door which makes for easy adjustment to time/temp cooking as well as using any of the preset settings enabled for this oven. Clean up on this is fairly easy since the bottom liner is removable. The different trays are also easy to clean as well.
I'm REALLY interested in trying to cook a whole chicken so that's the next thing to-do with this oven. Overall, really impressed how well this thing cooks, how versatile it is and its relatively small size which makes it great for an apartment or smaller kitchen.

Nice improvement on previous model
on October 3, 2024
Posted by: LouRevue
It's pretty much known that this is the best productivity keyboard case for the iPad. I had the previous model Combo Touch and thought it was a really great keyboard case to have. This one has a few updates from that version which I think makes it a bit nicer than previous models but still remain the best of the keyboard cases out there.
The previous one had a linen/cloth type cover on it. It looked nice and felt nice but it tended to fray and get scratched up. This is, of course, dependent on how you used and it such. This new model is leathery type cover to it so it's much smoother, and looks a little better than before. The base case is a hard plastic which should make for better protection. One of the biggest complaints of the old model was the cut outs for the speakers and cable would distort. Seems on this model, it feels a bit more solid so here's hoping it holds up better than its predecessor did.
The keyboard itself is pretty much the same as old models. Great layout and easy to type on. I feel the trackpad looks a bit bigger than it did on the older ones but not 100% positive on that. That said, it feels nicer and a bit more roomy than the older one was.
What I really like about this case is its versatility. With pretty much all keyboard cases, you have to use the keyboard in that specific configuration. There's no using it while laying down or on-the-go. You basically have a portable iPad laptop. But with this case, you can use the keyboard or not thanks to the ability to detach the keyboard from the case. Like that, then you can use the iPad as a normal tablet and, when needed, you can simply attach the keyboard to the case if you need it in more productive configuration.
Pretty sure other case manufacturers will follow suit with some variant of this but, for me, this is the best overall case setup for your iPad. Really like the functionality of it and its versatility.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
