Super nice toothbrush

Got this to replace an old Oral-B I had been using. I've had the Oral-B for about 4 years but it was slowly dying and in need of replacement. I've heard that the Sonicare are better and clean better than Oral-B's. After using it a couple times, it definitely feels like it cleans better so no questions there. Brush heads are a bit pricey however i'm sure you can find deals for them online somewhere. You get basically all you need to start off with. The carrying case is nice; much better than my older one. You get one brush head and wall charger as well. Hoping this Sonicare lasts for awhile.

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

Nice addition for smart home setup

Really liking this Nest video doorbell. Unit is small enough where it's not too bulky and looks nice installed on the door. If you don't have an existing doorbell, you'll need to get a chime (like I did). Shouldn't be a problem since most houses/condos will have this. Recordings are nice and clear however I haven't been able to test out the video recording in low light. I think it should be okay. Overall, really nice doorbell and works great.

OK, noise cancellation isn't that great
on March 8, 2018

As far as headphones go, these are OK. The fit is pretty good once you find a nice combo of tips. The big thing with these are the noise canceling aspect. By default, any in-ear bud is going to have some noise canceling properties. So having an in-ear headphones with noise canceling feature seems a bit redundant. I thought it was intriguing to have this function in an in-ear headphones however, upon using these, there's not really any noticeable performance with the noise canceling enabled. When using the headphones, switching the noise canceling on/off doesn't provide any real difference. Pretty sad since with the noise canceling enabled, it'll drain the battery significantly. Overall, these are just normal headphones IMO. Nothing that really differentiate it from any other pair of mid-grade headphones.

Pretty good streaming box

While the Chromecast might be a bit more appealing from a price standpoint, I think this one does a great job as a streaming box. It will integrate with you Gmail account and even has a separate button just for Netflix which is nice. Assuming you purchase a Sling plan, there are a bunch of a la carte options you can add/remove from your plan giving you a bit more flexibility on what channels you can get. I haven't tried out the OTA TV adapter yet however I'll probably give that a shot. Looking to cut the cord completely here so that will most definitely be the last piece of the puzzle.

Outstanding earbuds.

Compared to other manufacturers, Plantronics generally isn't associated with good quality headphones. However, after using these earbuds for a little while, I can say that these are on par, if not better than a lot of other manufacturer earbuds. Quite surprising actually as these are great all around earbuds. I have a pair Bose Soundsport earbuds that I've been using for awhile. Very nice and lives up to Bose quality. Compared to these, the 65t's are, again, quite impressive.
As far as sound quality, these are very good and offer a great mix of highs/lows. Personally, I wish the bass had a little more thump to it but not a huge thing. Mids and highs are very clear and crisp and volume is good as well.
Size/portability. While both the 65ts and Bose are small and compact, the 65ts have the edge here as they're smaller than the Bose earbuds/case. The case for the 65t is about half the size of the Bose which isn't a big issue however, it is nicer that these can fit in even the smallest pocket you have. One of my biggest complaints with the Bose earbuds is how they stick out of your ear when you wear them. Looks a tad strange but this is more a personal preference. This is not the case with the 65ts. They sit almost flush in my ear. The fit on these is very good and I don't have any concerns about them falling out or anything.
Call quality. These have the ability to take calls and people on the other end of the line can't even tell I'm using earbuds. The call quality is quite clear however I did have a couple pauses during my call. I'll blame that on the bluetooth connection but just something to note. And these also have the ability to interact with Alexa which, I presume, is nice. I don't have Alexa (I have Google) so I'm unable to test this aspect of the earbuds. I imagine though it would be quite convenient to interact with Alexa in this fashion.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with these and I think they're great for working out, out and about or for whatever. The compact size and good battery life will just about appeal to anyone and the sound quality will be more than adequate for any time of music listener.

Good photo printer but it's not for everyone
on January 7, 2018
Posted by: LouRevue
from Washington, DC
Overall, this is definitely a nifty little gadget to have. Pairs up with the Bluetooth on your phone/tablet and worked perfectly on my Note 8. You need to download the Sprocket app in order to print images from your device so I doubt that should be an issue for most people. This comes with 10 sheets of paper and, I believe, 20 packs of the paper is around $10 or so.
My main thing with this is that I'm not entirely sure who this would be suitable for. In this day and age, photos are almost a thing of the past. With images being directly loaded to FB, Instagram or other sites, I can't recall the last time I needed a physical print out of an image much less one that was pretty small. The prints are about 2x3 in size so they're not terribly large for hanging or anything; maybe for collages or something. The paper is not adhesive either so these pics can't be used as stickers. Also, I can't recall the last time I ever needed to print out an image on the spot for whatever reason. I guess this could be used for things like family gatherings or other social event where you don't see certain people that frequently? Either way, I still think this is a nifty gadget for some people, definitely not for everyone. I guess when you're at your next family get-together, you can whip this out and show it off to the family and give the grandparents some nice shots to hold onto or something.
The picture quality is pretty good. While the pic doesn't show it, the image I printed out was a bit on the dark side. Fortunately, there is no ink you have to purchase for this printer; all you need is paper. It holds 20 sheets at a time and I believe you can get the paper in either 10 or 20 packs. This pic I printed out took around 5 seconds so it's fairly fast considering it's size. Size wise, it's definitely a pocket printer as it's quite small. The pic shows size differences between the printer and my Note 8 and PS4 controller. With this printer all you really need is to load some paper (maybe bring the included charging cable) and you're good to go for a day or so.
Overall, nice little gadget and works much better than I had expected. However, I think this is something that you really have to have a need for. It's definitely not for everyone.

Pretty decent antenna

SInce I canceled my cable, I've been looking to add some local channels to my TV. I haven't been a fan of streaming devices or the like so I wanted something simple to hook up and get access to more channels. This flat antenna works pretty well. I was only able to get about 30 some channels. About 4-5 of them are sort of fuzzy but most seem to come through pretty well. Does come with plenty of coax cable which was nice. All in all, this does the trick so I'm happy with it.

Great smart light for your home
on December 10, 2017
Posted by: LouRevue
from Washington, DC
It goes without saying that you shouldn't get this light unless you want to go the smart home route. To use this light, and any other Hue light, you'll need a bridge in order to connect it to your wifi. Then, you'll need either the free app or some home speaker like Alexa, Google Home, etc., to utilize this to its full potential. And since you'll probably want more than one light to use, be prepared to fork out some money for the "full set" as it were.
That said, very nice light and offers bright illumination for just about any room. Installation of the light is pretty standard however the one thing you'll want to pay attention to is the shade. It's essentially in three pieces and might take a bit of time to line up once you've installed the mounting bracket. You'll also probably want to use some small sized wire nuts as there isn't a whole lot of room between the bracket and ceiling.
But, once installed it's a very bright and modern looking light. Looking forward to getting a few more lights and then being able to light up my place remotely or whenever I need to .

Great all around laptop
on December 1, 2017
Posted by: LouRevue
from Washington, DC
Initial impressions of this laptop are pretty nice. What might throw off some consumers is the fact this is Chrome OS and not Mac or Windows. There is a small learning curve when using ChromeOS compared to other operating systems however it's nothing to get bent out of shape over. It's basically a larger version of the Pixel phone from Google and, at time, a trimmed down version of an OS compared to other ones. That said, I think this is great laptop either as a secondary/traveling/work laptop or as a normal laptop for light duty users.
The appearance of the laptop is quite chic. It's metal and glass giving it a very minimalist look while offering a pretty sturdy frame. It's a 12 inch laptop so, for me, it took a little while getting used to since I prefer more larger sized laptops. Nonetheless, the fit/finish on this laptop is comparable to any high end laptop out on the market now. My only issue with this is that it's not all that easy to lift the screen up.
The functionality this laptop provides, again, is comparable to anything out on the market. While the specs on this laptop might not be as alluring as others, it will easily churn through any task with ease. Since everything on this laptop is cloud based, really boils down to how fast your connection is. But I haven't experienced any hiccups with this so far and don't really expect to honestly. The one thing some people might miss are the ports. There aren't any on this laptop save for a power plug and a spare USB-C port. You're not able to hook up any HDMI or monitor to this just to be clear. This laptop is pretty much an all-in-one sort of machine. Battery life seems pretty good. I haven't burned through a battery cycle yet however I figure this should give you, at least, a good 6-7 hours (maybe more) of use.
As far as the touchscreen/flip out screen, it's nice but not something I personally use all that much. In cases where I'm watching a movie or streaming something, I'll put it tent mode but that's about it. The touchscreen is quite good so no noticeable lag or anything. In tablet mode, this pretty much just becomes a 12 inch phone for the most part.
Overall, I think it's a great laptop for most general uses. It's not a workhorse laptop or a gaming laptop by any means but, for most uses, I think this is great in terms of functionality, size and performance. There is a small learning curve needed with this if you're not familiar with ChromeOS but it's not a big deal IMO.

Good, all-around earbuds
on November 14, 2017
Posted by: LouRevue
from Washington, DC
To be honest, there's nothing really noteworthy about these headphones however, they are pretty good all-around earbuds if you're in the market for some. The sound quality on these is pretty good. It does a good job with lows/mids/highs so there's no issue here. These are very lightweight so very suitable for exercise/gym/jogging activities and the cord is covered in a braided cotton material so it should be a little stronger than your normal earbuds.
As far as overall appeal, I think these are pretty good earbuds that don't cost $200+. They're lightweight and have pretty good sound quality and are pretty comfortable as well.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.
