Great Little Frige!
on December 8, 2025

Great little frige!
Let me start by saying I refuse to use use the word "friDge"! There is no no "D" in the word "word "refrigerator", and nietheris there a "D" in the root word "frigid". That said, I will always use the patently correct word "frige".
Packaging was well constructed and held the little frige in place. Unpacking was simple. A couple knife cuts, and the refrigerator was able to be lifted right out.
Once outjust remove the tape from the frige, remove the styrofoam from the interior, plug in, and your on the way to nice cold beverages.
Good looking little frige. Should blend well into most any decore. For us, it sitle perfectly wel in the den by the wetbar. The see-through glass on the front door is a nice feature. You are able assess the inventory with just a quick glance. That's especially true given the LED on the cieling of the frige.
It does come with adjustable shelves to accomoadate most any size beverages. The door is also reversible to accomodate both left and right access points.
If it could have one improvement, the knob to adjust the tempurature is oddly located and not easy to see if you are closer to the lower end, oor higher end f the temp range.
In all, a decent little frige!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Spotlight, Even Better Camera
on November 27, 2025

Excellent spotlight, even better camera.
Several years ago, my first video doorbell cam was a first-gen Ring cam's. I remember that it was a great cam, with a really clean, and efficient app. Over the years, the family gradually moved our in-home integration intomthe Nest eco-system. This was in no way an indictment against Ring, but having the one eco-system for all smart-home is nice.
Having said that, when the opportunity came up to get this, I jumped on it. I am not dissapointed.
Out of the box, the flood-cam has the expected high-quality that Ring has delivered from the get-go. I downloaded the app, and again, I was not dissapointed. It had a simple, but rich offering. Just as I remembered. Don't get me wrong, it was not the exaxct same, but an updated version. Clean, accessable, and intuitive.
For my installation, I had an existing old-school eve mounted floodlight, so I already had the existing junction box, and wiring, so a ladder and a screwdrive was about all that was needed. While I am not the mandiest guy in the world, installation was simple. If you don't have the confidence to work with ellectricity, trade a friend, or local handyman a $20 bill and a 12 pack of beer. It should take no more than 25 minutes for most experienced handy-folk.
Once installed, set-up in the app was a breeze. I have this placed in my backyard, and it is working great. I won't get into the techie stuff becasue that is easily accessable from both the Best Buy and Ring websites. But suffice it to say, this is a great choice, and I would reccomend toa friend.

Great Camera/Spotlight, Quirky Software...
on November 24, 2025
Posted by: Posted1
OK, where to start?
First off, excellent camera, powerful spotlight, decent looking, does not require hard power... But the software is... Well, quirky. In their defense, this is a completely new platform with new hardware and firmware.
Here is my experience: Mounting? Simple. Wiring? Not required, it uses a standard 110 outlet.Out of the box and ready to go? Maybe 10 mintes. So far, so good.
Here is where it gets odd... The software. I am used to motion sensing camera's that are out of the box, ready to sense motion, and is a spotlight, turn the spotlight on. First problem? It did not detect motion. At all. As such, no spotlight was turned on. I checked the MIcroSD card (not included), and sure enough, no video, but it did detect and record audio. Being the grizzled old techie vet I am I dug right in and started troubleshooting. First and foremost, I went into settings and adjusted every detection setting I could. Nothing. Next I deleted the app, reset the camera and re-uploaded latest firmware. Still nothing. After several iterations, I got it to detect motion AND turn on the light, but... The light would stay on for the alloted 10 seconds I had it set for, but then the light would turn off for 1 second, and then come on again for the 10 second. Lather, rinse, repeat...
Went into settings again, and I got it to stop doing that, but on so doing, it stopped detecting motion.
FortunatelyTIN directed me to straight to Tier II Tech Support. Working with Sally for aproximately 40 minutes and after adjusting multiple, multiple settings, it operated as expected. Once that was done, it operated as expected.
So back to where I started, greeat hardware, but in my case, quirky software. I am sure this was a one-off issue soecific to my camera, but it did taint the experience.
End of the day, a 5 star camera with 3 star, one-off experience.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Little Value Camera.
on November 11, 2025

So mI have had Arlo products for years. I have always found them to be solid mi-grade consumers that are fairly priced and relatively feature rich. When this Essential 2K came out, I was excited to get it.
The timing was perfect, because the week before, I recieved Arlo Essential outdoor-cam. The original plan was install it at our Silverdale tiny house. Our son is a US Navy Nuclear Engineer at the Kitsap Submarine Base. When we learned he was going to be stationed there, we purchased a few acres, made a few improvements and had a "tiny-house" installed for him until we retired.
Now this is the perfect companion piece. It can cover the enitirety of the living / kitchen area of the house, while the outdoor cam can moniitor the lane leading up to the home.
Arlo has their subscription plan, and it's reasonably priced. They also (I have read), offer a "hub" that allows for localstorage. Weare going witht he subscription. Our thinking is we can monitor the camera's here from Colorado while he is out under the Pacific Ocean, and we can notify local law enforcement if needed. And having the recording "in the cloud", we can be assured that if the hiuse is ever burgularized, they can't steal the recording.
OK, onto the techy stuff. I won't dwell too much here as there is ample great info on the BB site and my fellow TIN reviewers.
Setup was simle. We already had the app, so adding the additiopnal camera was simple. Video quality is great, in both full light and in the dark.
For the price, this is a great choice, especially if you already have the Arlo infrastructure.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Tool, Clunky Head Management, Horrid Manual!
on October 30, 2025
Posted by: Posted1
Let me come out swinging, and say that the included users manual and the online manual's are horrible. Like a three-year-old planned it out and then a two-year-old executed. I can't remember a single time in any of the hundreds of reviews I have done that I have ever mentiond a manual.
Secondly, managing the heads is not intuitive at all. I am not saying it's difficu;t, but it certainly not intuitive...
OK, I got that out my system, so here we go...
This groomer is called "Body & Balls", and targeted to men. That said, I will keep this as family friendly as possible, and much as a heavyweight fighter, I will do my best to keep it "above the belt" (see what I did there?).
So here is the deal, I am a pretty hairy dude. Like without appropriate groomoing, I would like a an early 80's Gym Teacher kind of hairy. So when this thing came up, I was lookong forward to getting it.
Inside the box you'll find the head unit, a foil shave head, 2 adjustable combs and an "intamate" comb. You will also have a USB cable, the charger stand, carrying bag,and a nice attachment to reach your back.
Again, without going IntO details, but everyhting worked as expected. For sure a multi-use manly grooming device.
Two of my favorites are the back attachment. I decided to volentarily go bald when my wife went through 12 rounds of chemo. The back reacher dealio is really nice for managing hair on my back and neck.
Another nice featurer is the LED white light on the heads. Helps you see the old skin and what needs trimmed.
In all, other than the worthless manual and the less than intuitive head management, it's a great tool that does exactly what it's supposed to and it does it we..

Great Gimbal! From Beginer to Expert, Perfect!
on October 30, 2025
Posted by: Posted1
This Hohem - iSteady V3 Ultra 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for Smartphones is a great choice. Until now, I Had not heard of this company. I have had a DJI gimbal I have used and it's been great. That said, this is a huge upgrade.
Build quality is top shelf. It has a decent heft, but is still quite lite and comfortable.
My daughter (she is 1000 times more artsy than I am), and an excellent photographer / videographer. We had it set up and operational in probably no more than 15 minutes. We tested it at the lake in frony of our house. We used it walking, on the golf cart and even took it out on the lake.
To ur amatuer eye, it looked as steady as professional TV show or movie. It's simple to use, while still being super-techy.
A couple of our favorite features, are the removeable remote, and the ability to use it as a standalone tripod. Neither of those are on the DJI gimbal we gave used previously previously. These two items, seemingly as simple as they are, make it considerably more useful.
End of the day, this is a top-shelf choice for even every one from the beginner to the most advanced videography experience.

Great Choice!

I really like the Arlo line, and have had exprience with them in the past. When this Arlo - Essential 1-Camera Pan Tilt 2K Security Camera opportunity came up, I jumped on it.
One of the main reasons I got this was because our sone is a US Navy Nuclear Engineer on a boomer submarine. When we learned he was going to be stationed at Naval Base Kitsap, we ended up buying a few acres out there and had a tiny house installed on the land. After he moves on, it will make a for great vacation home for us. Anyhoo, with him being gone fpr the long periods of time, I wanted to make sure we could monitorhis property while underwa. This is the perfect platform for that option.
Installation was simple. He is an EMN (Electricians Mate Nuclear) so for him, he cuold have installed in his sleep. He did "hardwire" it, but I watched him install the camera proper in just a few minutes. We downloaded the app and had it up and running, no problem.
Camera control and 2K video is great. Arlo does offer a monthly subscription to staore and access the cameraand recorded clips. We are going to try it out for a few months and see if we like it. The good news is the subscription cloud storage is relatively inexpensive. The bad news, is it only holds the video's in the cloud for two months. When he goes underway, he can be gone, for quite literally, who knows how long. A 6 months cloud storage would be preferred for us, but I do recognize our use it not like most others. For most, this should not be an issue. Our workarond is that while he is underway, his mom and I will monitor the house and alert local Law Enforcement if need.
I just started looking onito it, so can not comment with any authority, but I believe there is an Arlo hub that can be associated with the arlo cameras for local storage via microSD cards. I am pretty sure we will also lookinto that to store footage locally for longer periods.
End of the day, this is a great consumer choice that offers good control, and great 2K video.

Decent Choice, Great Video, But IPX Limitations...
on October 23, 2025
Posted by: Posted1
Great Doorbell Cam!
I got the Aqara - Video Doorbell Camera - Wired/Battery Powered - Hub G410 for oneofmy rental properties. Providing as much security as I can for my clients is very important for me.
One of the BEST features of this doorbell, is It's ability to be battery powered. This means there is no need to have it powered, since you can use batteries. Great option for most users needs.
This video doorbell cam is compatible with Apple HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and IFTTT, making it nearly unicersal for most any existing, and future technologies.
It also records in 2K Video, with "Tall Aspect Ratio" resolution and a 4:3 view that captures visitors head-to-toe, even for the tallest of front door visitors.
Some of my negatives?
Larger and "blockier" than most doorbells. This may not suit your aesthetics. It definately leaves no questions as to where press the ringer, but it doesn't do it with much grace.
It is only IPX3 rated. So it's splash-resistant but not fully waterproof. You may need to mount it under a ca]ivered porch or patio to fully protect it
End of the day, this is great for my needs, great vido quality, but may need to be covered or protected to sustain it's IPX3 weather rating.

Solid Choice!
on October 21, 2025
Posted by: Posted1
OK, I have been in the Google smart home for... Well, for longer than I can remember. I have Google hubs, existing doorbells, floodlights, and multiple indoor and outdoor cameras. So when the opportunity popped up for this Google - Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen), I jumped on it.
In typical Google fashion, the hardware is great. High quality consumer build, and of course, Google's home software, you know what you are expecting.
The one area I think they could (and should) improve is the actujal mounting hardware itself. I have used Blink and Ring doorbells in the past, and while I find Nest Doorbell's to be overall better than both, the mounting hardware of the Google Nest is most assuradley sub-standard. That is the only reason I rated it four and not five stars.
The biggest thing (in my perspective) that this generation brings is the improved 2K HDR resolution. This improvement not only means clearer video, but also a wider view angle, and noticeably better night video. That is a nice feature.
It also has Gemini AI. I hav enot been able to mess with that much, but previous experiences tell me it will be a solid feature as I get more experience. with it. Another nice touch.
In all, this product line was a great base and the 3rd generation is a noticeable upgrade.
Great choice!

Great Game CaptureCard
on October 18, 2025

My son is a U.S. Navy Nuclear Engineer and an avid gamer. Needless to say, after months under the ocean on the submarine, when he back on-shore , he passes away a great deal of time gaming. So when the chance came up to grab this Corsair Elgato 4k S Capture Card, I jumped on it. He was glad I did as he loves to record and stream his gaming on-line.
In the box, you will find the Corsair Elgato 4k S Capture Card, HDMI 2.0 cord, and a USB C to C cord. This Elgato 4KS has a quality feel and a fairly small foot print. The cord also have a solid, quality feel. With what's included, setup up is quick as it is simple. You can be open the box to fully in use in an easy 10 minutes, and that will include the time to get a fresh beer.
From a techy standpoint, here are some highlights:
*Records with 4K 60 resolution
*Plug-and-play with the included USB-C and HDMI 2.0 cords
*HDR10 passthrough up to 4K60; HDR capture supported up to 1080p60
*VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support
*Ultra-wide resolution, ujp to 3440×1440 & 2560×1080)
*High frame rate passthrough@ 1080p 240
End of the day, this is an excellent choice if you have the need.
I would, (and have) reccomend to a friend.
