I've been an Indiana Jones fan since I was a kid. My wife, father, father-in-law, and I went to see it in the theater. We all loved it. However, in recent months this movie has taken a lot of flack, including South Park ripping it apart. I thought this movie was terrific, (minus the refrigerator scene.) Just like all the other movies, this one was based off of truth. Alot of people don't know that. For me, it makes for a better movie. I can't figure out why some people hated this movie so much. Everyone I know has loved it. All I can think of, is that people are just being to critical or had too high of expectations. All I can tell you, is to watch the movie and make your own judgements. I thought it was great and I highly recommend it.
What's great about it: These movies get better and better!!
First of all, my wife and I are huge movie collectors. We currently own about 2,000 movies, half of which are horror/ thrillers (that's our favorite genre.) I'm not bragging, just showing credability. Secondly, we have a subscription to Fangoria magazine, which is where I read a four page article, boasting about this movie. We were extremely let down! I'll explain why. The movie starts with a four minute scene of water bubbles. I think they were trying to show someone drowning, but dragged it out too long. Then, the first hour is just flat out boring (I actually knodded out a few times.) Finally, the last 30 min. started to pick up. There were a few good scenes that got you into it, but then, it just ends. They never explain the kids, they don't tell you if they found their son, nothing! It just ends! To be honest, I was really looking forward to this movie, and what a disappointment. Like I said, when this movie drops to $5.00 or less, then watch it. If you like it, great. If you don't, then you'll know why I wrote this. I hope this review was useful (or at least saved you $20.)
What's great about it: A couple of scenes.
What's not so great: The fact that you have no idea what you just watched.
OK, so the plot's a bit cheesy (no pun intended.) It's fast paced, fun to watch and keeps your interest. If you like zombie genre films, I think you'll like it. It's a mix between Willard and 28 Days Later. If you're not into zombie movies, you might not like it. For those that do, I'd watch it!
This is one of the best occult/voo-doo films on the market! If you liked films, such as, Angel Heart and The Serpent and the Rainbow, you'll love this movie. Great plot, great acting, intrigue, and even great special features. (Which is a rarity these days.) I highly recommend purchasing this film, because you'll want to watch it more than once.
This was an amazing movie! My wife and I were in awe. This movie has a brilliant plot that keeps twisting right up to this last scene, and you never see it coming. Willem Dafoe's acting is terrific, as usual. This is probably one of the best psychological thrillers I've seen in a long time. It's right up there with Seven. They couldn't have made it better, it was perfect. I can't say enough about it. Buy it, because you'll want to watch it over and over again!
What's great about it: The imagination it took to make this movie.
This movie was great. My wife and I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was. It was so funny, I took it to a friends house to watch it again. Everyone laughed their a**es off. Just watch it. It's a classic gory comedy.
What's great about it: This movie was hilarious!
What's not so great: Of course the plot's cheesey.
This movie would have been better if some one else did it. Spike Lee has a bad habit of going off on racial tangents that have nothing to do with the movie. It skips around too much, but keeps your interest just enough so you'll stick it out to see what happens, only to be let down at the end. Don't get me wrong, I like a couple of his movies, but this isn't one of them. My wife and I are movie buffs, and we both hated it. I say don't bother, there's plenty of other war movies out there much better than this.
What's great about it: The movie could have been better.
First of all, I love Zombie movies. That said, this is probably the worst zombie movie I've ever seen. If you like zombie movies, rent it, don't buy it unless it's like $5. You'll like a few scenes. The move jumps around too much and has terrible make-up and special effects. The plot is decent but the acting is terrible. Diary of the Dead was much better. If you don't like zombie movies, skip it.
I highly recommend this movie to any one who loves horror movies. I saw this in the theater and it had everyone on the edge of thier seats saying,"WOW!" when it was all over. My wife and I are huge movie buffs, especially in the horror genre. First person point-of-view movies are hard to pull off. Unlike Blair Witch Project, which was so jerky you couldn't tell what was going on and it made you sick, this movie is much more controled. You really feel like you're in there with them, and the nightvision makes it that much more intense. My wife and I saw it with some friends and we all loved it. The only negative comments I've heard, came from people who don't like first person point-of-view movies. If you liked movies like, 28 Days Later or Cloverfield, then you'll love this movie. I definitely recommend it!
This is an absolutely brilliant film. Suspense, intrigue, perfection. This movie is a must own, you'll want to watch it more than once. The kind of movie you want to stand up and applaud in the middle of your living room. The plot was great. The acting was supurb. Intensely facinating right up to the credits. I can't say enough, BUY IT!!!
