Great horror comedy!!!

This is a good horror comedy, my wife and I thought it was pretty good! You're really just watching it for the gore and the killing. The plot is just a rip off of Friday the 13th. So, if you're looking for a film with a cheesy plot and lots of pointless killing and gore along with some good laughs, then you'll like this movie. Also, some similar slasher comedies are Just Buried, Otis, and Behind the Mask.
What's great about it: Funny and gory!
What's not so great: The plot was a bit cheesy.

Excellent horror movie!!!

This is a very unique and well made horror movie, my wife and I love it! This is one of those movies with such a good twist at the end that you want to put it back in and watch it all over again. I originally watched the movie No Man's Land: Rise of the Reeker from Ghosthouse Underground, not realizing it was a sequel. But, after watching this movie, Reeker, I noticed that No Man's Land: Rise of the Reeker is actually the prequel. So, technically I did watch them in order. This one came out in 2005 and No Man's Land came out in 2008. Both films written, produced, and directed by Dave Payne. If you're not familiar with either, I highly recommend both films! But watch No Man's Land: Rise of the Reeker first, then watch Reeker, they fit together better that way.
What's great about it: Very intense and a great twist at the end.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

This was a great movie, my wife and I loved it! Based off of a 1926 Alfred Hitchcock film, this movie will keep you guessing til the end. I highly recommend it! Also, some other good movies with similar plots are Taking Lives, Identity, and Secret Window.
What's great about it: Very intriguing with a great twist at the end.
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

Excellent 2 pack!

This is a great 2 pack from Darren Aronofsky. You get Pi, which is a great psychological thriller. It is in black and white, but it doesn't take away from this brilliant film. Also, you get the unrated version of Requiem for a Dream, which is a trippy and twisted movie about drugs. I highly recommend this 2 pack, especially at this price. Plus, two other great movies from Darren Aronofsky are The Fountain and The Wrestler.
What's great about it: Darren Aronofsky.
What's not so great: Pi is black and white.

Watching a $60,000, black-and-white indie movie in a format devoted to video and audio clarity may seem like swatting a fly with a Buick. True, there isn't much to be gained from Pi's non-anamorphic, matted presentation (at least it's letterboxed). More importantly, this disc offers a glimpse into the low-budget world of what director Darren Aronofsky calls the "Pi family," and the driving techno soundtrack sounds at least $60K worth of decent in 2.0 Dolby Surround Sound. The behind-the-scenes montage takes about two seconds to demystify the film's special effects secret: hot glue. But viewers will also see the director's mom, Mom's best friend (who had a small acting part), and the low-rent set in low-grade color. The two commentary tracks -- one from the director and one from his college buddy and lead actor Sean Gullette -- reveal the budget- and sanity-stretching hoops the cast and crew jumped through, including shooting illegally on the New York subway and handling a real brain. Four deleted scenes with commentary, film-geek production notes, and home-video footage of the Pi family's trip to Sundance round out this fuzzy, but still fun DVD.

This is a great psychological thriller, my wife and I love it! This is one of Darren Aronofsky's first films and was done on a rather low budget. I don't know why it's black and white, but it doesn't take away from the film. This movie has a twisted and intriguing plot that makes you think. This is a brilliant film, I highly recommend it! Also, some of Aronofsky's other great films are The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, and The Wrestler.

Great horror movie!

This was a unique slasher film, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The plot is cheesy yet intriguing. There's lots of good killing and gore scenes. I have to say this movie was much better than we expected, it was fun to watch. I highly recommend it! (Also, I think the other guy ment to say 'yes' after giving it 5 stars.) A few other good slasher films that went unnoticed are Seed, The Devil's Chair, and Laid to Rest.
What's great about it: Fast paced, intense, and lots of gore!
What's not so great: Couldn't find anything.

Stephen Gyllenhaal directs an all-star cast headed by Billy Bob Thornton in the drug comedy Homegrown, which comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while French, Spanish, and a second English soundtrack have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. Subtitles are accessible in all three of those languages as well. Supplemental materials are limited to a theatrical trailer. Columbia/TriStar has done a solid job with the picture and sound quality on this release.

This movie is hilarious, my wife and I love it! This is a great comedy thiller in the tradition of Get Shorty and Clay Pigeons. This movie is more than just a stoner movie, it has a great twisty plot. I highly recommend it! Also, as a Billy Bob Thorton fan, some other good comedies of his are Bad Santa, Bandits, and Ice Harvest.
What's great about it: Billy Bob Thorton.

Music video director David Dobkin makes his feature debut with the 1998 comedy Clay Pigeons. This Polygram DVD is presented with both widescreen and full-screen transfers. The Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround soundtrack is in English and French. Optional French subtitles and English closed captions are also available. Special features start off with biographies for director David Dobkin and stars Vince Vaughn, Joaquin Phoenix, and Janeane Garofalo. Theatrical trailers are also included. This is a highly recommended DVD for those who can understand and appreciate Vince Vaughn in a cowboy hat.

Excellent psychological sci-fi thriller!!!

This is a great movie, my wife and I loved it! My wife loves horror, but isn't into sci-fi movies that much, it has to be really good to grab her interest. This movie had both of us on the edge of our seats! This film had great acting, great special effects, and a great director (Danny Boyle- 28 Days Later). This is a fast paced thrill ride of a movie! I highly recommend! Also, some similar sci-fi horror films that are really good are Event Horizon, Dark City, and Dante 01.
What's great about it: Fast paced and intense!

Evil reigns in the Stephen King-based film Apt Pupil. The movie is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and features a very solid transfer from Columbia. Aside a small amount of edge enhancement in the image, this picture includes solid colors and dark black levels. The sound mix is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and sports a vast array of directional effects and Surround sounds (especially when composer John Ottman's music score kicks in). Overall, the mix is free and clear of any excessive hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are English subtitles. The only extra features available on this disc are a fluffy "Making Of" featurette with some behind-the-scenes footage and interviews by the cast, as well as a theatrical trailer for the film.

This is a brilliant movie, my wife and I love it! Based on a Stephen King story and directed by Bryan Singer (X-men 1 and 2), this psychological thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. The plot is intense and the acting is superb. This movie gets better every time I see it. I highly recommend it! Also, two more recent Stephen King movies that are really good are 1408 and The Mist.
What's great about it: Stephen King at his best!
What's not so great: Nothing!
