A great broken lizard drunken comedy
on October 23, 2008

This film is nothing more than you would expect from Broken Lizard at this point. It isn't quite as good as super troopers, but it is far better than Club Dread. So, if you liked the movie then you will be happy to know that the picture quality is quite good. However, the audio is lossy dolby digital 5.1. That isn't to say that the sound track isn't good.
In short, fans of the movie will like this Blu-ray.
What's great about it: Good Picture quality and all the special features found on the DVD
What's not so great: Lossy dolby digital audio

A fun movie to watch on Blu-ray
on October 23, 2008

This film was a great joy to watch in theaters and continues to impress on Blu-ray. The audio and video quality on this one is amazing. This is the first blu-ray that MGM has put out to have any extras at all, so to have some of them in high definition is a plus.
Fans of the movie will not be disappointed.
What's great about it: Near reference picture quality and lossless PCM audio

A decent film with a decent transfer

The movie doesn't look bad, however, there is a scene or two that has some some artifacts that make the picture look blocky due to the master that Warner used. I believe it was a 1080i master. It is also missing the extended cut of the film, as is the first movie on Blu-ray. Suffice it to say, they could have done better with this film.
What's great about it: A classic film in high definition
What's not so great: Lossy audio, some artifacts are visible in a few scenes, and what little extras they gave us are in 480p

A great action flick

While this Blu-ray is missing the extended cut of the film that can be found on the Special Edition DVD, I still think that this is a great purchase for anyone that was a fan of the film. The picture quality is nothing short of stunning and the 5.1 PCM audio track is superb. You will not be disappointed with this one.
What's great about it: Near reference picture quality and lossless PCM audio
What's not so great: Not all the features from the special edition DVD and special features are 480p

A true Classic on Blu-ray
on October 22, 2008

This movie needs no introduction. Suffice it to say, you already know it is a great movie. However, the superb video and audio found on this disc makes it that much better. We are graced with a lossless PCM 5.1 audio track and a video quality that blows away any other version of the film. To suggest that people pick up an out of print DVD over this one purely for the lost special features is just silly. This print has clearly been gone over with a fine tooth comb by Sony. It looks simply amazing. Any fan of the film would be happy to have this one in their collection.
What's great about it: Vastly improved image and audio quality over DVD
What's not so great: Lacks some of the special features found on the previous DVD

A great Action Flick

This movie was a blast to watch and even better on Blu-ray. It has the same bonus features that can be found on the previous HD-DVD and standard definition DVD releases. The movie looks and sounds good, but don't expect much more than that. If you are a fan of the film, pick this one up.
What's great about it: Good Picture and Audio Quality
What's not so great: Lacks Lossless Audio

Reference Quality Blu-ray!!!

It was a shame that Paramount made us wait for this release. However, we were rewarded with our patients by getting Lossless audio and a transfer that is supposedly slightly better than the HD-DVD version. Myabe if you have a 30 foot screen you can tell the difference, but alas, it is an impressive transfer either way.
Blu-ray gets all the special features that we have seen on Paramount's previous releases of the film and they are all delivered to us in full 1080p high definition. Why more studios don't do this I'll never know.
In short, this one is an easy decision for anyone who liked the movie or those that just want a Demo disc to show off their setup.
What's great about it: Amazing, dare I say perfect, picture and audio quality and all the special features are in high def.
What's not so great: Nothing...

Classic Bond Hit's Blu-ray
on October 22, 2008

What can I say, if you like Bond flicks then you can't go wrong purchasing these Blu-rays. I went with the steelbooks because I didn't want another cardboard set that didn't quite fit on a shelf in my collection. (Dirty Harry) Also, buying them separately, I can put them in whatever order I want on my shelf as opposed to the seemingly random order they are in the sets.
The quality of these blu-rays are amazing and you wont be disappointed.
What's great about it: Great Picture quality, Lossless Audio, Tons of special features
What's not so great: Not all the special features are in high def.

I bought this to complete the collection

Well, this is really not the best Bond film out there, although I think Tomorrow Never Dies is worse. However, how can you have a complete Bond collection without the good and bad and not so bad bond films. Unfortunately, for every Casino Royal and Thunderball, there is a Die Another Day, and Tomorrow Never Dies. It is too bad that Brosnan peaked with Goldeneye.
What's great about it: Great movie with excellent Picture and Audio quality
What's not so great: Not all the special features are in high def. and this is one of the weakest bonds in my opinion

Are PS2 games compatible with PS3 console?

I want to know if PS3 will play my PS2 games before I go ahead and purchase it.
There are no longer any PS3's being produced that will play PS2 games. The 80 gigs used to, and now they don't. I think the last ones that did were the Metal Gear solid limited editions. The 60 gig PS3's also had backward compatibility. However, it was encoded with hardware as opposed to the software that the 80 gig uses and therefore had different problems with different games, as does the 80. The 60 is generally thought of as more compatible with older games than the 80. You can find lists of games that wont work with either system, but they are few and far between. As of right now, you cannot buy a new PS3 of any size that has the ability to play PS2 games unless you buy a used one.
