Worth the money!!

Initial thoughts:
If you’re in the market for a wired all in one security system that is fairly easy to install and has no monthly fees then this may be the system for you. Also, this is NOT a wireless system, there are wires connected to each camera.
What’s in the box??
-8 Channel DVR with 2TB Hard Drive
-4K Heat and Motion-Sensing enforcer Cams (6 of them)
-BNC Extension Cables that are 60ft long EACH (6 of them)
-Ethernet cable
-HDMI cable
-Power cables (There are 3 total you will need to plug in) and splitters (2)
-Mouse(wired)
-Mounting Screws and Plugs
-Quick Start Guide
-Theft deterrent Stickers along with a number if you want to have it professionally installed.
SETUP:
Ok, not going to lie the hardest part was actually choosing where to place the cameras. For me that was toughest part, as I live in a 3 story home. For those of you that are handy and live in a single story, getting in attic and dropping lines may be easier. Once you get your camera lines ran and hook them all up to the main unit, then attach your HDMI cable to from the main unit to your monitor (and if you have access to the internet close by hook up your ethernet cable) plug in the power cord and Viola! From there it will take you through a setup process. Oh and one more thing is don’t forget to hook up the mouse so you can navigate through the on screen menus. One side note is that I tried to plug in a USB keyboard to use instead of clicking but it would not work! Using the mouse wasn’t that difficult truth be told. The setup wizard takes about 12-15 minutes to complete. Then you have access to control how and what you want your cameras to. Once you finish your setup you can access all the camera features. There is no real guide and you have to just play around with all the menus and buttons. Just a note if you manually turn on the sirens, they do get pretty loud.
The App:
So, let’s talk about the app, everyone wants to monitor their home from their phone these days. To get started I have an IOS device and I just scanned the QR code that was on my monitor screen and it takes you right to the app store to install it. If you have installed an app before then you know it comes with the usual questions such as notifications. Once you have the app downloaded and signed in you can do what we all do with our home automation apps. Now if you are expecting 4K UHD and real time from these images you will be let down. The images were pixelated but you could see well enough. You can also access your stored images and video (playback) there is also a user manual in there. If you are smart phone savvy you will have no issue moving around in the app. One last note on the app, I found that there was a 12-15 second delay from real-time.
Picture Quality:
Picture quality on my 4K monitor was nothing short of amazing. I thought that it did very well in bright light and in low light situations. I have another camera that struggles with really bright outside lights but these cameras did an excellent job at keeping the colors correct. Clear and concise(especially on a 4K monitor) nothing more to say.

Great running tech

THE BREAKDOWN:
If you love tech like I do this product will really round out your arsenal. I am a part-time runner and have ran a marathon and several mini/half marathons. I have gadgets galore! When this product became available I was looking forward to testing this one out.
What is Nurvv insole trackers? Well, Nurvv’s smart insoles are suppose to help you run more efficiently and make it easier to monitor your running health. Some of these metrics that are tracked are: Cadence (steps per min), Step Length (distance between each foot strike), Footstrike (forefoot, mid or heal), pronation and balance. Some of the other stats you get are pace, distance and route map. Nurvv keeps track of your runs and uses the data to give you Running Health (more on that later).
The insoles have a left and right each with 16 precision pressure sensors. These sensors capture information at the rate of 1,000 times per second with pressure mapping where foot touches the ground. The tracking units themselves (this is where the GPS and Bluetooth are) clip onto the out lip of your shoe. It attaches with a metal hook and some Velcro. The weight of the trackers add around 22g each and the insoles which total around 70g per shoe. The trackers themselves are IPX7 rated. From my testing the insoles themselves survived through 40+ miles over 2 weeks and a few of those runs where in the rain and I felt as if the rain had no effect on the insoles or trackers. The insoles I felt were a little difficult to fit into my shoes. I also want to note that over time the clip that hold the trackers on the side of the shoe kept getting harder and harder to fit. The reason was because the metal clip expanded and it doesn’t go back either, I ended up using the extra rubber pieces that came in the package. The trackers were also a little difficult to place on holder and get off. Both trackers have power buttons on the inside and I personally thought that it was difficult to turn on when the tracker was mounted on the shoe clip.
The initial setup was fairly easy, you just follow the instructions on your phone and is pretty straight forward. Once the app is up and running it takes 30 seconds or so to prepare before you can run. So, if your inpatient like me this will be irritating.
If you have lots of running gear like I do you get used to certain features such as heart rate. Well, with this there is no heart rate connectivity with that said there is no heart rate zone training.
While running you get you can see your foot strike and cadence and after you finish a mile you get your splits. Running health/ training load score monitors your load over time. It then gives the recommended mileage for the next seven days so as to minimize your injury risk.
One last note is the battery life is as promised, right at 5 hours.

Best Buy at this price point!

THE BREAKDOWN:
The packaging was very basic and to be honest if you are going to cut costs this is the place to do it.
The design and feel of the mouse felt excellent to me. The mouse feels almost weightless and I believe it weighs in at 77 grams. The cord is not braided like most high end brands but it is a rubber material. Honestly, I like the cable because it is not plastic feeling but more durable rubber feeling. The mouse itself was not super smooth/slick if you will but more like a slight textured feel to give grip. The left and right primary buttons felt like they had grip as well. Another thing to note is that the click sound wasn’t a sharp click it was more like a dull thud if you will. I personally found this to be better than the sharper click. Next, is the scroll wheel. I found the scroll wheel to be super grippy and very precise. The last button on the top is the profile changer button. This button can switch between 5 different profiles and works as intended. The last two buttons are on the left side of the mouse. The forward facing and rear facing buttons. I also found them to work as intended. However if you have large hands like myself I found using the side buttons a little more labor intensive. The overall shape of the mouse I thought was great but again I have large hands so it could have been slightly larger for me.
The initial setup was easy, just plug and play but to get the lighting to work in a specific way you have to download the Steelseries software. The software was easy to find, download and install.
Once you have the software installed you can set 3 different lighting zones. You can set them individually or sync them all together. If you like to customize lights then this mouse is for you. Especially at this price range.
The buttons are also customizable in the software. I personally do not use this feature but it is available for those that do.

Surprisingly light!!

THE BREAKDOWN:
The packaging was very well done and protected. It came with the headphones themselves, USB cable with inline volume controls, 3.5mm splitter and 2 Velcro straps that I use for cord management.
The design and feel of the headphones felt great to me. My only complaint is that the cups feel as if they put extra pressure on the bottom of the ear cup. The size is large that is typical for gaming headphones. They are a little deceiving as they look like they are bulky and heavy but once you put them on the feel surprisingly light. You can adjust the cups independently on the left and right to fit your head type. The lunar white color is nicer than I thought it would be. The microphone is hidden in the left earcup and pully out easily. It is also very adjustable. The inline controls worked well. The headset did get hot after a few hours of gameplay.
The sound quality was very good. I would put the sound quality of these headphones in the top 3 of the headphones that I own. While gaming I felt the sound was crisp and you could hear the sounds of the game in the appropriate earphone. If you are looking for bass these may not be the headphones for you but then again these are gaming headphones and they do a great job at that intended purpose.

Great Keyboard

THE BREAKDOWN:
The packaging was very well done and protected. It came with the keyboard itself, gaming keycaps, keycap puller and the palm rest.
The design and feel of the keyboard felt amazing to me. I loved how light it was compared with my older mechanical keyboard. The USB passthrough port was amazing. I can plug my mouse in to the keyboard or my phone, great feature. The lighting was simple and fun to setup and use.
The initial setup was easy, just plug and play but to get the lighting to work in a specific way you have to download the G-Hub software. The software was easy to find, download and install.
I was really looking forward to a more quieter gaming keyboard as my current one is very loud and for that is great I love the feel of the keys clicking when depressed but, my wife finds this noise very annoying. So, this keyboard did not disappoint. The keys were very quiet, not totally quiet but quiet enough that it doesn’t disturb my wife. The keystrokes doesn’t seem to tire my fingers as I also used this keyboard while I worked. I am developer so I type a lot and found it to be very pleasing and easy to use. The added palm rest was just icing on the cake and kept my wrists and hands in a good comfortable position. One potentially negative this is there sometimes is a slight almost grinding noise and feel when depressing the keys.
The G-hub software for the lighting features was intuitive and easy to use. I found myself engrossed in the different settings for almost an hour. I felt as if they worked as intended. I am a plain solid color kinda guy so for me the lighting was just ok.

Classic Look Great Product!!

THE BREAKDOWN:
Let me start by saying that I love the old school broadcast microphone look, very classic.
The packaging was very simple with nothing extra. This is a plug and play device so, after unboxing, I plugged the laptop into a windows laptop and I was up and running in just second. This microphone does come with two cables, a micro-USB to USB for Windows based computers and lightning cable for MAC/iOS users.
The design and feel of the microphone for me was great. The two main stand out features is that it is portable and it has fold out feet. The power to this device actually comes from the device you plug it into. There were 3 modes or selections that you can use with this microphone: cardioid, 360 and bi-directional. Just to note that to monitor your voice you can plug headphones into the headphone jack. There was a hole in the bottom of the device which I can assume that you attach a boom or a stand.
The performance I felt was great. I felt it was far superior on my Windows desktop, MacBook and my phone. I felt the pickup patterns of the mic worked as intended. The 360 did pickup sound from around the room, but that is what it is intended for.

Great Package and Price!!

THE BREAKDOWN:
Let me start by saying that gaming laptops these days are a super competitive market. I was expecting big things from Dell on this one. Have had other Dell laptops in the past I look forward to putting this one through the paces.
The packaging was very simple with nothing extra. At first when I opened the package I was thinking that I received a refurbished laptop as there was just the laptop, charger and warranty card, that’s was it. No fancy vibrant pictures or anything else just bare bones.
After unboxing, I plugged the laptop in and turned it on. The Windows 10 setup was pretty easy, especially if you have an account already. I was up and running in a matter of just minutes.
The design and feel of the laptop for me was great. It feels very solid even though its made of plastic. I love the blue rubber feet on the bottom and it also raises up the laptop to allow for airflow. One thing on the design for me was very lack luster and that is the fact that at the top of the keyboard the plastic goes up at an angle and creates a viewable space in-between the base and the laptop screen. It may not bother some people but I found it very distracting.
The performance was very competitive among other gaming laptops in this price range. I would score it slightly higher than other laptops on this price range.
Running some benchmark tests, 3D Mark and PC Mark 10, this laptop comes in slightly higher than there typical results of a gaming laptop. Played several games on max settings and averaged anywhere from 40-100FPS. One note is that when playing World of Warcraft for some reason I was getting only 40-50FPS.
On this laptop I found the fans to be louder than normal. I also had a Bios update while playing a game and on restart I received the blue screen of death. I took several times going into advanced setting and finally had to just wipe it and start again. So, one note to buyers is go to the Dell support website and download all of the updates before you begin testing/playing.
I thought the battery life was just ok at about 2 hours of gaming and around 3 hours of streaming video.
WiFi was excellent as expected for me I was getting really good almost max throughput every day.

THE BREAKDOWN:
Where was this when I was younger. This is a super fun toy and I thought that it was enjoyable without the app. It has realistic light effects and authentic movie sounds. This thing is packed with a plethora sensors to track your every movement and it is bluetooth enabled to integrate with modern technology like smart phones and tablets.
The light saber itself is pretty cool looking with a few buttons with a little slide section that opens to expose the “Kyber Crystal” that is a button. It has multiple LED lights and even changes with the characters. The sound effects are even synced up. The sensors that I spoke about earlier are an accelerometer, gyroscope and barometer that tracks the angle, speed and your accuracy and communicates all that with the app.
The app itself was easy to locate and download. Once you get the app downloaded you press the action button on the light saber it connects quickly. After you get the saber connected and calibrate the sensors on the saber the fun begins. You can go to training or right into fighting. The battle master game is turn based and you can block, attack and use the force.

THE BREAKDOWN:
This product was nicely packaged. Everything you needed to get this product up and running was in the box. This Lynksys Velop AX5300 is a dual node mesh Wi-Fi networking system. I have to admit that I own the previous version of this product except it has 3 nodes.
This system is very simple to get setup and running. Once you download the app it walks you through each step and it really doesn’t take but about about 10-15 minutes to get it up and running. I actually kept my Wi-Fi name and password the same so that all my devices would just connect automatically. I only had one device that I had to reenter the Wi-Fi name and password.
If you are a previous owner of the Velop system (like the one I mentioned above) then it is good to note that the new system is compatible with the old system. What does that mean? Well, it means that this system is backward compatible with the old system and will also work with the new system. You can use the old nodes to help further extend your Wi-Fi if you wanted. I have found that the 2 nodes far exceeded the 3 nodes that I used to have.
Performance was excellent. With my old system I was getting speeds around 180Mbps down and 24Mbps up wirelessly. As soon as I got this system up and running I immediately tested it and it far exceeded my expectations. I was getting speeds 100Mbps faster down!!!! I tested this in all the remote areas of my 3000+square ft home. Yes, speeds of 290Mbps just like that, simply amazing!!
Another new feature that I really liked is the addition of 4 Gigabit LAN ports. I use this for hardwiring some of my devices and this was a huge plus for me.
You can also add a USB storage device to the 3.0 port and share other devices like printers over your network.
A couple things that I found particularly annoying is that for some reason my phone and a couple other devices would connect to the farthest node and connect on the 2.4Ghz band. This was one of the features of the past that dramatically hindered my speed. If there was a 2.4Ghz device connected it would downgrade all the devices connected to that 2.4Ghz band. I had to call tech support and log into the router via the computer not the app and configure a separate 2.4Ghz band. However, for this router I found that even though it stated it was on the 2.4Ghz band the speed did not downgrade.
The other issue was when enabling the Guest Wi-Fi access it locked up and lost the second router. I had to manually turn off and back on the node and then from the app I had to restart my Velop system.

Fun for the whole family

THE BREAKDOWN:
This product was nicely packaged. This package included the Portal TV device, power cord and remote with batteries. The only thing needed that wasn’t supplied that is needed is an HDMI cable.
This system is very simple to get setup and running. It took around 20 minutes to do the initial setup. It takes a while to get the updates and connect to your Facebook account. One note on my installation is that initially my contact downloaded and I was able to set favorites but once I went all the way into the app my contacts disappeared. I tried restarting the device and that did not work. Once I logged out of the app and logged back in the contact list just seemed to reappear. Once everything was updated and logged in I could call anyone on my contact list that had Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.
I thought the camera worked well. I think they call it a smart camera that is AI powered and automatically adjusts and zooms. I feel that this worked well with the exception of having multiple people in the room as it would not pick them up in the viewing area. The camera put your head at the top of the screen would sometimes cut off the effects even while playing the games.
This is a great tool for communicating with friends and family, especially those that live far away. We were able to communicate with our family, add those cool augmented effects, play the games and the story books.
The portal offers a variety of 3rd party apps like Showtime, CBS, Stars, Sling TV and Redbull to name a few. These apps are available by selecting the “Portal Apps” icon.
One last thing that I would like to mention is the way that it sets on the top of your TV. At first I had it setting in front of my TV then I realized how it was designed to set on top your your tv. Just genius!

is that machine automatic?
Yes, this machine is automatic. Once you load the whole beans or you can a scoop of ground coffee and fill the water reservoir you just select the button for which coffee you would like it to make. It automatically dumps the grounds inside. I have made several cups before I had to empty the grounds collector. Hope that helps.
