What a machine!

We have been using the same old blender for so long, we can't remember when we got it! This was such a huge change from what we had, it isn't even hardly comparable! We love to make homemade shakes with fresh fruit or fruit we buy in bulk and freeze. This blender works great with frozen fruit and ice. We have also used it to make individual shakes with the smaller jar. Both have been very powerful and easy to use. The presets make it so easy... just press a button, it already knows which container is being used, so it pulses and runs all on its own. I am getting the ratio down pretty well now, so the shakes turn out perfect every time. Our old machine had to have everything cut up very small and nothing could be too hard or frozen or it would choke. This one doesn't even slow down for frozen stuff and seems to be pretty decent quality.
The vacuum accessory takes the air out and completely changes the texture of the drinks. I was a little skeptical, but after the first use, it is definitely a huge improvement.
I am not sure that I would pay the normal price for the blender alone, but when all the add-ons and features are figured in, it becomes a pretty decent deal. We are looking forward to using the dough attachment as well as the food processor. Maybe we can replace a few of the many small appliances with this one system.
I've heard all the hype about the Ninja brand for years, but am finding that it may not just be hype after all! I'm really looking forward to using all the features this machine has. Every time we begin to pull one of the other appliances out, we are finding we are looking to see if the Ninja can do it and it usually does, only better!

Very fast drive, minor setup flaw.

I have several flash drives that I carry off and on depending on what I am working on: a Mushkin 32GB USB 3.0 and a Sandisk 64GB combo USB 3/3.1. The Mushkin is pretty old but has held up very well and has proven itself to be very fast and reliable.
After using the G-Drive R-series, I now have a drive with enough capacity to really fit some of the projects I work on and yet it is still nice and small. Maybe not as small as a pocket flash drive, but with its speed and capacity, I may find myself sticking it in once in a while!
When I ran Crystal Disk Mark 6, I was impressed by the speed of the drive. It performed very well compared to the SSD in my Dell G7 laptop, getting very close in speed on a couple of the tests.
I did some real-world testing before starting to use it as well, backing up a folder of pictures (996MB) in only 11 seconds. In other uses, it has proven to be very fast in both large and small file transfers.
When I first took it out of the box, I tried it on three machines and could not see it in Windows file explorer or my Chromebook's file browser. After doing a little digging online, I found out that they have designed it to work out of the box for Mac machines, but it needs to re-partitioned to work with Windows. I found that kind of odd, since it is marketed as "rugged, super-fast portable storage" and lists both Mac and Windows compatibility. After looking closer, I did find on the side of the box that under the Windows compatibility it does have "w/ reformat" in very small writing.
I was able to talk with one of the techs from Western Digital and she did confirm that it does need to be set up if it is going to be used on a Windows machine. No big deal, if you have set up new drives before, it is a simple process. Just make sure you pick the right drive before deleting and creating the partitions!
I am very happy with the drive and will be using it for anything that needs speed or capacity in the future. With a five-year warranty and since Western Digital is behind it, I expect it to last me at least as long as my trusty Mushkin has!
They also offer even larger drives if needed, it is really nice to see these kind of drives finally becoming reality in this compact package.

Follow your family's bedtime schedule with this 2-pack of C by GE LED light bulbs. The lighting transition between bright and calm helps improve your sleep routine. Set scenes via the mobile app to optimize these C by GE LED light bulbs for reading and movie nights. The A19 bulb connects directly to Google Home devices via Bluetooth with no additional hub or bridge required to provide quick and easy setup. Use a C by GE Smart Plug or C-Reach Smart Bridge to enable voice control with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit.

Nice addition to our system.

First off, I am writing this review after also installing another companies smart lights, so my thoughts on the GE C-Sleep lights are going to be influenced by my experience with the other brand's light setup.
The GE lights come in an unassuming box with absolutely zero documentation! The box actually just looks like any other incandescent or LED light bulb set aside form the wording on the front that claims "Smart Bulbs" and talks about how it helps your circadian rhythm. On the box, it also states it is "Made for Google" and "Works with Google Assistant". On the back of the box, it has instructions that appear to be for those installing a Google Home Mini and these bulbs, a simple four step process that includes plugging in the Mini and downloading Google Home to set it up.
After looking all over, inside and out of the box for instructions on how to add it to my existing system, I finally resorted to doing a Google search. Ge's own site has instructions so I went there first. The site isn't much better than the box since it appears to start out in the middle of setup since the first step is to "... tap the + icon in the top right corner and select Add New Devices". Well, unless you read their minds, you would never know they were referring to the GE App! After installing the GE app, it was unable to see the lights, no matter where I had them installed and on multiple devices with and without Bluetooth enabled.
Once I finally gave up on the GE app, I went back to Google Home and was able to add one of the lights to my setup, pairing it with a room for testing. Google Home still didn't register one of the bulbs, but I figured I would deal with that later. After configuring the first bulb and testing the functions, I went back just to see if the second one could be seen yet and there it was, ready to be set up. I had plugged both bulbs in at the same time, so I'm not sure why it took so long for the second one.
Overall, these ended up being a great addition to our expanding assortment of smart lights in our house. The Hue bulbs are much easier to set up, but they have a base that they come with also, so that may make a difference. GE also sells a base, but these are advertised as working with Google, so I assumed they would have all the functions like other lights do with it. Once set up, I am able to use Google to tell them brightness and to turn on, but I was a little frustrated by the setup routine (and all the runarounds I had to try to get them working).
At some point, I thought that maybe these lights needed to be factory reset, so I found two completely separate sets of instructions for resetting them, neither of which worked! Each one referenced "early" or "late" model bulbs but offered no explanation of how to find out which bulbs you actually had.
In the end, I would have no trouble recommending these to anyone, I would just give them a set of instructions myself and tell them to skip the web site for help!

Very impressive kitchen tool!

My wife's old pressure cooker had seen many meals and has been a constant fixture in our kitchen. We had seen all of these newer designs and thought they would never be able to hold a candle to our faithful old Presto. Boy, were we surprised by the first couple of meals we were able to do completely in this one cooker! Our first attempt was a whole chicken that turned out so good we couldn't believe it wasn't from a restaurant! The ability to pressure cook and then use the air crisper to brown it and put that perfect skin on the outside with the spices.
Our next adventure was a roast, but while the instructions show a beautiful pot roast several times, it doesn't actually come with any recipes for it. We just used a little ingenuity and came out with a really good roast first try. We will tweak a few things next time such as cutting the pressure cooker stage down a bit and changing from air crisp to just a cooking stage since it did dry it slightly. It was still a very tender and moist roast and the drippings made perfect gravy.
We are so happy with it that we bought two of the "official" cookbooks from Amazon so we can try even more dishes. I can't wait to try some of our longtime favorite meals that normally take heating the house up with the oven. This little machine is going to come in very handy! It is nearly silent while cooking - actually the air crisper makes more noise than the pressure cooker, something that was a surprise after all those years of the loud swishing sound the old one made.
One thing I would have liked to see is a way to program it in advance, maybe a future model will have that capability. Allowing it to do different stages with a preset delay between would really streamline meal prep even more. As it is, it is nice to be able to use one machine to do much of the cooking and have the stovetop available for other things. We are going to really use it during the holidays this year!
I have found that the cleanup is very easy, just a few parts to clean and if they are done right after cooking, the food doesn't even stick to things. I can't really say how it does when things have dried on. I always hand wash it right away.
Overall, I think this is one of the best kitchen appliances we have purchased since our stand mixer. Now we will really be able to have meals ready with minimal cleanup. I am thinking these would be great gifts, especially for someone who doesn't have many pots, pans and a pressure cooker already.

Another awesome Logitech product!
on October 5, 2018

I have been using Logitech products for almost 30 years now and have always found them very reliable and comfortable. This mouse is no exception, providing adjustability with the weights and all the buttons I could ask for! With my G703, I missed the free spin of the wheel that I had grown familiar with on my MX mice and was thinking of going back to one of them for my main computer. I will miss the lack of clutter with the wireless G703, but this G502 Hero is so comfortable and responsive that I am not regretting the change back to wired at all.
The box is a nice, unassuming design that packs the parts into a small container and doesn’t have any frills or extras to get in the way – just the way it should be! I hate opening a huge package to find a tiny part nestled deep inside! The design of the mouse is interesting, but my hand fits it perfectly and all the places needed to feel comfortable are there. I don’t even notice the gaps and voids between the buttons and surfaces since they are designed not to touch the hand.
I also appreciate the hook and loop tie attached to the cord, allowing it to be wrapped partially if it is too long, such as when I am using my laptop on the table and don’t need all the cable to reach the side USB port.
I think Logitech has produced another winner here with the G502 Hero and am looking forward to years of use.

A decent monitor with lots of real estate!
on August 26, 2018
Posted by: Andy
from Northern California
First thing, I am amazed at how much I can fit on this monitor! I have used several large monitors and was always disappointed by the pixel size. The resolution on this is high enough that I can actually use this one!
When I first took it out of the box, I was expecting a different set of ports and was a little disappointed. A minor mistake on my part, and the ports (HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort) are actually working out very well for me.
The only thing I am not overjoyed with is the lack of true blacks on the screen. I have adjusted it in every way I could both with the onscreen controls and on my video card but cannot get the screen to have enough contrast to get real black. After a week of use, I am pretty satisfied despite that and don’t notice it as often as I did to begin with. As I write this, I have two windows comfortably open side by side on this monitor and another on my laptop screen (which has a very nice screen with excellent colors and contrast) and none of them feel cramped. Word is open to 100% and still has room around the edges with the ribbon bar open.
I am happy enough with this one that I am seriously looking at buying a second one for another workstation. The lack of contrast is not as big a deal as I felt it would be. Videos and applications all show up well and the clarity is excellent.
I like the front panel controls which have real buttons instead of electrostatic or other type of controls so you know when you are touching the right place to change something. With the labels on the silver front panel, adjustments are very easy and I don’t find myself fumbling around with trying to figure out what each button does.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the monitor. I was going to give it four stars at first, but the features have won me over after a bit of use!

Nice upgrade from our older player.
on August 7, 2018
Posted by: Andy
from Northern California
We have had a Samsung smart Blu-Ray player for a few years and it has served us well and continues to work fine. We decided to update our living room entertainment and were able to get this new player. I really liked our older model, although it was pretty slow to navigate through the menus and starting apps took a bit of a wait. This model is lightning quick! Not only does it load the apps (like Netflix) very quickly, it even remembers where you were in the app so you can click and continue watching with very little effort.
The Samsung apps were pretty limited on our old player. Although it listed a huge number, only a handful seemed to really be useful. The new model has a bunch of very useful apps and it seems you should be able to find something for about any taste.
Setup was a simple task and the network access is quick for loading apps and searching for videos. The remote is very simple, but can handle every task needed for the player, as well as having a few buttons for controlling a TV.
I also enjoy the ability to stream the audio to my Bluetooth headphones so I can listen to the sound without going through my sound system late at night. The only thing I would like to see is a way to make a shortcut for this in the “Apps” screen so I can switch to it without going into the settings screen. There may be a way, I just haven’t found it yet!
I am really impressed with the speed and features of the player, it is proving to be a great addition to our home. While a bit expensive, I doubt many people would be disappointed with this player and smart device.

Great Gaming and general use machine
on July 3, 2018
Posted by: Andy
from Northern California
First Impression – The Dell G7 comes in a fairly plain box with no frills… kind of underwhelming compared to some of its competitors! That’s OK, because what comes out of the box is a very nice machine that is ready to get down to business.
Setup – Initial setup is typical of just about any Windows computer. In addition to the regular Windows setup routine, Dell has their own and McAfee adds even more to initialize their year of coverage. The blue color of the backlight is a pleasant shade that doesn’t distract but does make every key easy to see.
Use – The touchpad is very large compared to some other brands, allowing easy multi-finger gestures. I reversed the two-finger direction for scrolling so that I can drag down to scroll down and up to go up. The keyboard has the keys in the “right” place, something I’ve come to be aggravated by with some laptops that insist on cramming keys together or putting “Home” and “End” keys as functions of other keys.
The backlight turns off after a few seconds and is something that does take a little getting used to, but it comes right back on by just swiping the touchpad or tapping a key. Under normal use, the machine stays quite cool but I still use a cooler fan pad to make sure the vents remain unobstructed.
Upgrading any of the parts is as simple as backing out a single screw and then unsnapping almost the entire bottom of the case. This allows complete access to the M.2 slot, RAM, HD bay, wireless slot and battery. I just wish the machine came with 16GB of RAM since there are reports of difficulties with finding compatible RAM, a machine of this level should come with more than 8GB.
Specs – The G7 is slightly larger than some other 15” laptops with similar specs, but looks even larger because of the angled front and rear edges. The GPU is slightly faster on several benchmarks than an ASUS ROG with a “regular” 1060 video card, even though this is the detuned, cooler version. I updated drivers on both machines and ran them several times to be sure. Battery life is pretty impressive for normal use, but it goes away very quickly when the 1060 is used, as expected. The screen is very bright and clear, as should be with any modern machine.
Connection – The wireless card is stable and connects quickly at startup. I connected the G7 to an Epson EX9220 projector wirelessly and it performed very well, without the need to run cables. As a teacher, the need to connect to my projector is extremely important. I was impressed by how easy it was to connect Windows 10 to the projector!
Conclusion – I personally prefer the dark color of this model as opposed to the white version, as well as the lack of a gaudy light-up logo on the lid... it has a classy, understated look. After adding a 2.5” 2TB SSHD for storage space (screws and bracket already installed in the bay – thank you, Dell!!!), I have a very powerful machine for both work and play. I look forward to spending more time with this machine, it will be a great asset for me.

A very capable "notebook" gaming computer
on April 28, 2018
Posted by: Andy
from Northern California
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The packaging is impressive… open the generic cardboard box and you will find a rather interesting container that, when opened, pushes the laptop up toward you with a hinged back to the box. This makes getting the plastic wrapped laptop easy to pull out of the protective container. Underneath, you will find a small compartment that houses the documentation for the machine.
The “notebook” itself is covered in a black, brushed finish that runs in two directions, diagonally along the cover with the ROG logo that lights up when powered on. Right off I notice the three lights at the center for power, battery and hard drive access… some of which have been sorely lacking from recent notebook computers.
USAGE
Size - The notebook itself is slightly smaller in footprint than my old Dell XPS 17, but it is much thinner. I would have traded a few millimeters for a bit better cooling, but with the overheating safeguards that are in place, it keeps adjusting itself to stay just cool enough.
Weight - I expected a “notebook” computer to be a bit lighter than this, although the specs of this machine almost demand more heft. After a few longer 3D sessions, it does get a bit warm and I found myself checking the gaming app to make sure the temps were not going to fry the poor thing! In several of the benchmark runs, it did slow down slightly as the temps reached high enough to demand it. We will see how things go as the cooling fins and other components get coated with dust during regular use.
Performance -With 16GB of RAM and both an SSD and a hybrid hard drive, performance in Windows is very quick, as I expected. I had upgraded my XPS several times to faster drives and finally SSDs, so it performed as I would have expected. The i7 performs very well with all the apps I have thrown at it so far. I am amazed at the speed every time I run one of my games at the highest settings! I used to run them at medium and I get an entirely new experience with seeing them as the developers wanted them to look.
Keyboard - It took a bit to get used to the keyboard, I’m not sure why laptop manufacturers can’t settle on a standard layout! I use the “Home” and “End” keys a lot in my work, and having them on the same physical key requires a FN key press to toggle the “End” function. Aside from the times I will be using it away from my desk, it will probably have an external keyboard attached, so this is not as big a deal as it could be. The backlit keyboard feels pretty good, especially for a notebook computer, and there are dedicated volume, microphone and ASUS app keys at the top. The W-A-S-D keys have a slightly larger lit area, so they stand out in a dimly lit room and the W key has a small bump on it to help tactile feel during those intense sessions. The colors and intensity can be adjusted to taste, I have it set to reflect the current temps and it changes constantly from a green to yellow to red to reflect how warm the machine is running.
Software - After the normal Windows 10 setup procedure, it was off and running very well. There is a bit of bloatware, but much of that is Windows 10 itself, not ASUS. They have kept their installed software to just a few apps and they focus more on the gaming and performance aspects of the machine.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I have had some issues dealing with product quality and ASUS customer service related to some of our other computers recently, but that has been an exception to the quality I have seen form ASUS over the years. As with most companies, there are bound to be flaws in some models that don’t reflect their normal quality. The finish on this machine is excellent, the screen looks very bright and clear and all the keys and buttons are responsive in normal use. The trackpad is what I would expect on any modern mobile computer, and responds well to multi-touch movements.
I can’t wait to throw more apps and games at it over the next few months to see just how well it outperforms my other machines. It is just the right size to carry with me all day.

Couldn't be happier!
on January 23, 2018

I already had a Google Home at one end of the house, I've been playing around with automated lighting and controlling the TV. I was thinking of getting a Mini to put at the other end of the house and happened to get this Insignia Voice. I figured for the price, it might be worth it to have the extra features with the clock and temperature screen.
Setup was a breeze, Google Home saw the new device and almost instantly set it up with very little interaction from me. Once set up, it is just as easy to use as the regular Google Home with the added advantage of having the time displayed. I dimmed it down since it was pretty bright to start with. It is nice to get weather and news updates without having to turn on the TV at just the right time.
The only thing I wish it would do is leave the current temperature displayed on the screen, but it goes off automatically after about a minute. The temperature is fairly accurate, but it does differ a bit from my actual area since the local weather station is at a different elevation and a few miles away.
Other than the display, I am very happy with the function and appearance of the device. I thought the black would be odd, but it actually looks pretty good in person and the controls and voice response seem to be every bit as good as the real Google product.

Can you make a map for the robot in the app?

No, there is no mapping ability on the SpinWave. There is a schedule mode, but I am not sure of the reason since it seems to NEVER return to the base to recharge after it is used - probably because it has no mapping function! It still does a good job, it just seems to run until it is stuck or the battery runs out.

I have tile and carpet throughout home. Will it mop tile then switch to vacuum carpet? Or do I have to tell it what to do? .

It has to be set up for the type of job you want it to do. The vacuum tray and the mop solution tray use the same bay on the robot. I was hoping it could be set up to do both also since the roller and fan are still part of the main body but it cannot.

The entire Meta Portal family is video calling designed to bring people closer. Meta Portal TV brings smart video calling to the biggest screen in your home and turns your TV into a smart video calling screen that’s perfect for group calls. It’s easy to call friends and family on their smartphones and laptops with Messenger and WhatsApp, even if they don’t have a Meta Portal. A Smart Camera pans and zooms to get the whole room in shot and automatically adjusts to keep everyone in frame as they move and talk naturally. Smart Sound makes sure you can be heard by reducing background noise and enhancing the voice of whoever is speaking. Meta Portal’s simple privacy settings mean you can easily disable the camera and microphone, or block the camera lens with a cover. All Meta Portal WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted and you can choose to call individual Messenger contacts using end-to-end encryption. Meta Portal TV needs a wireless internet connection and AC power. Meta Portal voice command availability varies. Screen images simulated. User experience may vary. Requires wireless internet connection and Facebook or WhatsApp account. WhatsApp is not available on tablets. Features, functionality, and content vary and may not be available on all Meta Portal models or in all areas and languages. Some features may require a Facebook account and downloading the Portal mobile app. Additional account registration, terms and fees may apply. Meta Portal TV requires an HDMI cable (not included). Meta Portal TV comes with a remote control.

Do u need o e on both ends? Meaning I have to have one and the person I call has to have one.

No, you can call anyone on your Facebook and Messenger list. The benefit to having it at both ends is that both ends of the call get to take advantage of all of the features. We haven't tried every one of them with a Portal at only one end, such as the watch together app, so I am not sure how many of the features work without a Portal.

Protect your home or business with this Swann 1080p Wi-Fi floodlight security camera. The Full HD resolution lets you review captured footage in stunning detail, while the floodlight ensures that subjects are illuminated. This Swann 1080p Wi-Fi floodlight security camera includes a siren and two-way audio for scaring off trespassers and potential intruders.

Can the floodlight be wired and howlong do the battery last

This is a 120V system, it does not have batteries. It is designed to replace an existing vertical wall light, such as those found on the front parch or entry way of most houses.

How good is the motion detection really? I have purchased several cams and the motion detection is awful. Thanks

I have mine turned down since it is so sensitive. Even blowing leaves set it off at the medium-high setting. On medium, the cats still set it off, but I will continue to play with the settings and aim to see what a good balance is. My Arlo 2 was so delayed that the action was about done before they even started recording.

How long are the recorded clips? Do the clips start before motion is detected?

The clips start a few seconds BEFORE there is any motion, something my Arlo 2 system didn't do very well. The clips also last a few seconds after the last motion is seen, making them very useful for security footage. I was pleasantly surprised at this, even though this is exactly what a security camera should act like!

Access online learning resources with this 11.6-inch Dell Chromebook laptop. It operates with Chrome OS for smooth management of Google accounts and built-in educational apps, and its LED three-color activity light provides visual indicators for student-teacher correspondence. This Dell Chromebook laptop has 32GB of eMMC storage and two USB 3.1 ports for connecting external devices.

Can I download Microsoft office

Chromebooks can run the online version of Microsoft Office without any trouble, but the on-again/off-again relationship between Microsoft and Google leaves us with difficulties when trying to "install" Office to Chromebooks. Different size screens have different installation abilities, on my 12" Samsung it is not allowed, while some smaller screens can.

ASUS Laptop: Experience powerful gaming performance in a slim, compact package with this 15.6-inch ASUS laptop. Its 16GB of DDR4 RAM and Intel Core i7 processor let you multitask between programs, and its GTX 1060 graphics card smoothly renders 3D scenes. This ASUS laptop has a 1TB HDD, 8GB SSHD and 128GB SSD for versatile storage options and fast boot times.

How long does the battery last when not gaming and using the integrated graphics? Is the screen matted or glossy?

I have run it for several hours when just browsing the internet, but it will be lower if the GTX fires up for anything! The screen is a very nice matte finish. I keeps the glare down very well even in a brightly lit room.

Hi, I just bought this computer from a Best Buy today. I knew that you had to charge the computer for the first use. But I didn't know the power cord didn't plug into an American power socket. What power adapter do I need?

There is a black cover over the normal AC prongs. Just pull on it and it will slide right off, allowing you to plug it into a normal American wall socket.

this laptop does not have many reviews, why? and would you recommend this product if I like Netflix, traveling and take notes at school and some light gaming

It is fairly new, so reviews are still coming in I'm sure, but Netflix does run great, even casting it to a Chromecast works very well, no studdering or other problems. It is designed to be easy to travel, its size is perfect to throw in almost any size space - about .5" wider and about 1.5" longer than a sheet of paper. As long as your notes don't include using a stylus for drawings or diagrams, this would be great but with no touch capability, that could be a drawback. Remember to pick up a USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter if you do presentations, while it does have three ports they are USB-C only. As far as gaming, I haven't done much with that yet but I would be surprised if it did too well on anything that requires much horsepower. The CPU would do fine until heat builds up, but the onboard graphics would be the limiting factor. Older games or those with low-end graphics would do fine, but that is definitely not what this machine was designed for!
