Does what it is supposed to do!

This cable came in handy when I needed a bit more length to attach an external hard drive to my computer. The one that came with it was only about 6 inches long and this one gave me the room to place the drive where I wanted. Not any noticeable speed difference.
Look forward to having it available for other items in the future! Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a little more cable length to work with.

A surprisingly nice addition to my truck.

I wasn't sure if I could even get this to stick anywhere in my truck, the dash has a lot of curves and the texture is pretty coarse. I found a fairly smooth spot and stuck the base down. The small magnet fit well on my phone's case and when I put it near the base, it stuck very well.
I fired up Maps when we started a short trip and was impressed by the ease it was to see where it was mounted. I figured with our 100+ degree days that it wouldn't last long, but it has been about a week and it has done well even when left on the dash all day.
I wouldn't have any problem recommending this to anyone looking for a phone mount for their dash.

Great floodlight, decent security camera
on June 3, 2019

Initially, I was a bit disappointed that I was having trouble with the camera. It installed very easily, and I was up and running within minutes... I thought! Within seconds, my phone was buzzing with notifications that there had been activity (me standing in front of it, adjusting the lights) but as soon as I tapped on one, it took me to an "Activity" page that was blank. There were a pretty good number of notifications, but still nothing on the activity page. I went through all the troubleshooting ideas I could find online and in the literature that came with the camera. Finally, I broke down and emailed Swann's tech support. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a reply back within hours on a weekend!
The tech support person that helped me went through several things I could try to fix the camera and then let me know that they had found a fix and a new firmware was being released that would fix the issue. Sure enough, a day or two later, my camera updated and the "Activity" page has all of my videos on it.
The floodlights themselves are great, very bright and adjustable so that I don't blind my neighbors. I have them on my front porch, so I pointed them up into the eaves so my porch seems like daytime all the time, but it never shines out into the road or anyone's houses.
The camera is about what I expected from a 1080p resolution, decent details, but nothing too exciting. It does do a great job of adjusting to changing light and other conditions, switching from IR to color even in the middle of a video if the lighting is sufficient. I had a hanging flower pot about five feet in front of it, but the glare was really messing with the camera. Moving the plant on down the patio fixed that issue effortlessly.
There are some features that I wish it shipped with, such as scheduling, but I will see if I can get IFTTT to take care of it for me one of these days when I have time to mess with it.
It is really nice to be able to check for packages, visitors and other things when I am not home. The two way audio is a bit delayed, but is usable if you are patient. I have played with the siren also, but am not sure it is really useful when the cats trigger the camera so often. I'll rely on my interior security system for that.
Overall, I am now very happy with the camera/floodlight system. I wouldn't mind putting a couple more around the house. If you are in the market for a simple security camera and floodlight, this one fills almost all the needs in one box.

A great idea, almost perfect...

I waited some time to write this review because I had a bit of concern when I first set this up. The initial setup was amazingly simple for this kind of device and within minutes, I was uploading and backing up my phone.
My primary concern was that every time I started the app, it backed up the newest pictures... something I thought it was supposed to do automatically, all the time. After a few times of seeing this behavior, I haven't noticed it for a week or more. I am not sure if it was something with my phone or something that has been fixed in an update.
My other nit-picky thing is that it seems to keep two copies of pictures that are saved to an Ibi album or shared folder. Not sure why it would keep two copies, and then show both in the "All Photos" section. I'm sure there is a perfectly logical reason, it just gets annoying having to scroll through twice as many pictures as I really have to find anything.
The storage space is great, the setup is amazing and the device itself is small and only requires a power connection. I have it sitting behind my Google Home, and both are pretty invisible to us already. I really like the space and knowing our pictures are backed up. I will have to play around with it a little more to see if there is a way to only show one copy of each picture.
So far, the slow upload speed reported by others has not been an issue, it seems to be about what I would expect for a device to copy several hundred pictures over WiFi. It is certainly not an NAS, but you would never connect an NAS over WiFi either! It looks to be a bit faster than the external hard drive I have connected to a USB port on my router, but slower than the NAS I have connected to the wired network port.
Overall, I would probably rate it at a 4.5 if that were an option. My problems have nothing to do with how it works now, just my perception of what could be better. The software on both a desktop and an Android phone are pretty decent, the speed is to be expected and the device is unintrusive.

Awesome little device!
on May 13, 2019

This small hub is a great way to expand the capability of just about any modern computer. I have used it on both of my laptops as well as a Samsung Chromebook Plus and it has worked perfectly on all three. The laptops already have HDMI and other ports, but the chromebook only has USB-C ports, so it really helps to be able to connect the chromebook to a larger screen, full size keyboard and real mouse.
With the metal housing, it is solid feeling and looks nice since it is a dark grey and black color. I really hate getting white devices that are portable since they tend to collect dust and fingerprints, plus they look cheaply made! The cord is just long enough to be able to get at it, but not too long to be in the way. Since USB-C can be plugged in either way, it is always sitting upright, no matter which side your ports are on.
I have had my eyes open for a small hub like this for some time and was very happy to get this one. The SD card reader and wired ethernet just add to the functionality, making it a great mini-docking station.

Amazing sound!

I can't believe the sound from this little speaker! I was hoping for a decent sound, but was not expecting such rich sound and excellent volume from such a small package. I had a UE WonderBoom, but one of my students decided they needed more than I did. While the WonderBoom was small, this thing makes it look huge.
Bluetooth connection was a breeze to my Honor 6X and within seconds of opening the box, I was listening to music. While it is mono with the single speaker, it mixes the sound so well that it isn't hardly noticeable from across the room. The strap is very handy as well, allowing it to be hung from just about anywhere.
I would easily recommend this to anyone looking for big sound from a tiny package. I look forward to using this for a long time... I just have to find a way to keep it out of grabby hands!

Very nice cookware
on April 11, 2019

From the moment we opened the box, we were impressed by this cookware set. The metal it is constructed from is very thick, so the cooking is even. The heat can be turned up slightly from a normal pan and the surface cooks the same way all the way across. The nonstick surface is very hard and has worked well with both plastic and wooden utensils. They say you can use metal, but we are not risking it if we don't have to.
We have cooked from stove top to oven several times and have not had a problem. It is nice to be able to put it right in the oven without worrying about the handles melting! We don't use the stacking ability since I fabricated a hanging rack years ago to keep our cookware organized, but it will surely come in handy when transporting or stacking between cooking and serving.
I have seen pictures of people having problems with the coating getting scratched, but it always looks like their pots have been banging together. We'll see how long it lasts without hitting together. At least it isn't a finish that can come off that is poisonous.

Decent headset...

For the price, I am pretty impressed with the quality of this headset. It is not to be confused with a $300 set, but for what it is intended, it does a very good job. I have worn these for a few hours and have not found anything really uncomfortable, although I personally would have liked to have them use a little more cushion in the earcups. The adjustment stayed where I set it for the headband and the flip-up mic is a very handy feature.
The color combination goes well with the Switch, looking like it could have come straight from Nintendo! The cord is plenty long enough and the sound quality is decent for the price range.
You get what you pay for, but these were a very good bargain for the price and I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone but the most picky listeners.

Nice watch, very configurable!
on March 25, 2019

This is my first smart watch, I have been very happy with various G-Shock models for the past decade or more. The watch’s screen is amazingly clear and is very responsive to touch. I was afraid it would be too small, but it is very close to the size of the watches I am used to.
It took only minutes to set up and connect to my Honor 6X, and soon I was playing around with all the features. The array of faces available is bewildering! I have tried so many and still can’t find one that has everything I am looking for, mainly because I find a new feature or begin using one more and look for that in another face.
As a watch, it does that job very well, whether you want analog or digital, simple or feature-packed. It shows texts and email in a slightly cramped space, but gives a great preview of what you can finish on your phone. Its step counter is pretty reliable and it does have a decent heart monitor. I am sure there are more features I will find useful as I continue exploring.
I bought a couple of third-party watch bands and was quite impressed by how simple it was to change between them. After a couple of weeks using it, it has held up well with no visible scratches or marks.
The battery life is pretty good, I end up charging it every night with my phone so that it has some reserve in case something comes up.
I guess the best evidence for the usefulness is that I have not put my G-Shock back on since I began using the Active. For the price, it may be a stretch to justify, but it is very useful and looks pretty decent as well. Since the face can be changed in seconds, it can be adapted for about any situation.

Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630 review
My initial impression of the Yoga Chromebook was that it was very nice to have the extra couple of inches over my Samsung Chromebook Plus. The keyboard is roomy and the touchpad is large. I have come to rely on my Chromebook for many daily tasks such as sitting in my comfortable chair in the evening and reading email or surfing the web. As a teacher, I also use it and a Chromecast for my math classes to work problems for my students on a screen. I had gotten so used to the stylus that I didn’t even think about it when I got this machine. It didn’t take long to figure out how important that one feature had become to me!
I like the blue color of the machine, not quite as refined as the metal color of the Plus, but it is different in a way that is not bad. I almost thought they had sent me a black one since I unboxed it in an area with low lighting and the blue is so dark. The screen has a nice brightness to it and has a lot of room. A couple of my apps render a little odd on this, but it is not unusable at all. I am not sure if it is the resolution or the screen size that throws them off. I figured it must be the resolution since my Plus has an even higher resolution. Fonts are crisp and web sites look very good.
It has a small assortment of ports, even one more regular USB would be a welcome addition. By now I have resorted to plugging everything into a hub and then I have a single connection for legacy USB devices. Without the stylus, I have reverted back to a mouse since I have never felt that a touchpad is as natural - I guess it is just a preference I have always had. I think the body could have been a bit smaller had Lenovo decided to make the bezels a bit smaller. As it is, there is a decent border that just makes it look even bigger than it already is. The storage is massive for what I have come to expect from a Chromebook, 128GB is truly a luxury I have not had.
I have not had too many apps that have heated it up and have had no issues or problems with it, not that I would expect to at this price. Speaking of price, I have to go back to the stylus thing… for a machine with these specs, I fully expected to have some form of decent pen or stylus that came with it or could be purchased to add to it. It is too bad that they decided to skimp on this one important area. I know many are going to question the need for that added expense, but all I can say is you need to use a Chromebook that has a good stylus and high resolution digitizer to really understand the totally natural use of a pen on the screen.
Touchscreens naturally attract fingerprints (another thing the stylus does away with!) and this one is no different. It is easy to clean and so isn’t too big a deal. With all that real estate, it is very nice to be able to touch and use the pad to get around.
Overall, I am happy with the machine, it runs everything a Chromebook should run without breaking a sweat, and looks good doing it. If only there were a way to add a stylus! Come on Lenovo, don’t sell this nice machine short.

Can you make a map for the robot in the app?

No, there is no mapping ability on the SpinWave. There is a schedule mode, but I am not sure of the reason since it seems to NEVER return to the base to recharge after it is used - probably because it has no mapping function! It still does a good job, it just seems to run until it is stuck or the battery runs out.

I have tile and carpet throughout home. Will it mop tile then switch to vacuum carpet? Or do I have to tell it what to do? .

It has to be set up for the type of job you want it to do. The vacuum tray and the mop solution tray use the same bay on the robot. I was hoping it could be set up to do both also since the roller and fan are still part of the main body but it cannot.

The entire Meta Portal family is video calling designed to bring people closer. Meta Portal TV brings smart video calling to the biggest screen in your home and turns your TV into a smart video calling screen that’s perfect for group calls. It’s easy to call friends and family on their smartphones and laptops with Messenger and WhatsApp, even if they don’t have a Meta Portal. A Smart Camera pans and zooms to get the whole room in shot and automatically adjusts to keep everyone in frame as they move and talk naturally. Smart Sound makes sure you can be heard by reducing background noise and enhancing the voice of whoever is speaking. Meta Portal’s simple privacy settings mean you can easily disable the camera and microphone, or block the camera lens with a cover. All Meta Portal WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted and you can choose to call individual Messenger contacts using end-to-end encryption. Meta Portal TV needs a wireless internet connection and AC power. Meta Portal voice command availability varies. Screen images simulated. User experience may vary. Requires wireless internet connection and Facebook or WhatsApp account. WhatsApp is not available on tablets. Features, functionality, and content vary and may not be available on all Meta Portal models or in all areas and languages. Some features may require a Facebook account and downloading the Portal mobile app. Additional account registration, terms and fees may apply. Meta Portal TV requires an HDMI cable (not included). Meta Portal TV comes with a remote control.

Do u need o e on both ends? Meaning I have to have one and the person I call has to have one.

No, you can call anyone on your Facebook and Messenger list. The benefit to having it at both ends is that both ends of the call get to take advantage of all of the features. We haven't tried every one of them with a Portal at only one end, such as the watch together app, so I am not sure how many of the features work without a Portal.

How good is the motion detection really? I have purchased several cams and the motion detection is awful. Thanks

I have mine turned down since it is so sensitive. Even blowing leaves set it off at the medium-high setting. On medium, the cats still set it off, but I will continue to play with the settings and aim to see what a good balance is. My Arlo 2 was so delayed that the action was about done before they even started recording.

How long are the recorded clips? Do the clips start before motion is detected?

The clips start a few seconds BEFORE there is any motion, something my Arlo 2 system didn't do very well. The clips also last a few seconds after the last motion is seen, making them very useful for security footage. I was pleasantly surprised at this, even though this is exactly what a security camera should act like!

Access online learning resources with this 11.6-inch Dell Chromebook laptop. It operates with Chrome OS for smooth management of Google accounts and built-in educational apps, and its LED three-color activity light provides visual indicators for student-teacher correspondence. Can I download Microsoft office

Chromebooks can run the online version of Microsoft Office without any trouble, but the on-again/off-again relationship between Microsoft and Google leaves us with difficulties when trying to "install" Office to Chromebooks. Different size screens have different installation abilities, on my 12" Samsung it is not allowed, while some smaller screens can.

How long does the battery last when not gaming and using the integrated graphics? Is the screen matted or glossy?

I have run it for several hours when just browsing the internet, but it will be lower if the GTX fires up for anything! The screen is a very nice matte finish. I keeps the glare down very well even in a brightly lit room.

Hi, I just bought this computer from a Best Buy today. I knew that you had to charge the computer for the first use. But I didn't know the power cord didn't plug into an American power socket. What power adapter do I need?

There is a black cover over the normal AC prongs. Just pull on it and it will slide right off, allowing you to plug it into a normal American wall socket.

this laptop does not have many reviews, why? and would you recommend this product if I like Netflix, traveling and take notes at school and some light gaming

It is fairly new, so reviews are still coming in I'm sure, but Netflix does run great, even casting it to a Chromecast works very well, no studdering or other problems. It is designed to be easy to travel, its size is perfect to throw in almost any size space - about .5" wider and about 1.5" longer than a sheet of paper. As long as your notes don't include using a stylus for drawings or diagrams, this would be great but with no touch capability, that could be a drawback. Remember to pick up a USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter if you do presentations, while it does have three ports they are USB-C only. As far as gaming, I haven't done much with that yet but I would be surprised if it did too well on anything that requires much horsepower. The CPU would do fine until heat builds up, but the onboard graphics would be the limiting factor. Older games or those with low-end graphics would do fine, but that is definitely not what this machine was designed for!
