Excellent Sound and Features
on July 22, 2022
Posted by: dustinw
Excellent sound and useful features make this an easy-to-recommend portable Bluetooth speaker.
From the initial setup and to the easy-to-use app, this is a great speaker to have around. The collapsible strap makes for easy transportation and the light are nice and subtle and can be turned off if they're too distracting. While I may never be able to fully take advantage of it, the ability to link up with up to 100 other compatible speakers is super cool. This would be a great feature to have if you had friends with them and were hanging outside. The design and material are also very attractive and give a premium feel. The material is a soft fabric that looks very sleek. Add in that it's water and dust resistant, and it's ready to go to almost any place you'd like. It also has the cool ability to act as a power bank for your phone/tablet. It also has a good feature that you usually only find on laptops or similar devices - the option to turn on what Sony calls "Battery Care". This keeps the speaker from fully charging if it's going to be plugged into the wall for an extended time to help prolong the life of the battery itself and prevent degradation. Overall, this is a smartly-designed and sounding speaker. Between this and their headphones, I think Sony is killing it in the audio department.
Pros: Excellent sound, great features, sleek design, retractable lifting strap, acts as a battery bank
Cons: A bit pricey, may be considered somewhat big/heavy for a portable speaker

Comfortable and Quiet
on June 15, 2022
Posted by: dustinw
Truly one of the most comfortable mice I've ever used. I've been using Logitech's MX Master Mouse 2 for a few years now, and I've had nothing but good experience with it. This updated version is no different. The first thing that really jumps out at you is just how quiet it is. While you may not necessarily think about how loud mouse clicks are, this mouse will make you realize just how loud they used to be. Each click feels great but is very quiet. It's almost inaudible. That's not to say that there's any question as to whether you've clicked though, it is still very easy to tell when you've clicked the buttons, they're just almost silent. The material of the mouse is very nice too. It has an almost soft touch feel that's very nice. That along with the quietness gives the mouse a very premium feel. The position of the side wheel has taken a little getting used to, as I was so used to the MX Master Mouse 2, and this one is positioned a bit higher it seems. If you've used an MX Master before, you'll know they also have this great feature of where you can kind of spin the middle mouse button wheel quickly and it will switch from a click-y type of scrolling to a free-moving wheel for quicker scrolling. This new one has the same option, but again, the operation of the switch between types is very quiet. It has other great features too, like being able to connect to 3 different devices and quickly switching between them. Logitech's software for customizing the mouse is also great and easy to use. If there is anything that I can maybe complain about with this mouse, is that the soft touch material is kind of a magnet to dust and fuzz.
Pros: Premium feel, extremely quiet, very precise and responsive, great software and customization
Cons: Soft touch can be a magnet for dust/fuzz

The headphones to beat.
on May 23, 2022
Posted by: dustinw
Simply put, these headphones are, in my opinion, second to none. The noise cancelling they offer rivals (or beats) anything on the market. They sound amazing, and they are very comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The touch and software features are excellent, and very easy to use. Setting up the active noise cancelling takes no effort on your part. It just works. On top of all of that, the ability to connect to two different Bluetooth devices at once is very convenient. I connect to my phone to get text notifications, which I can then reply to using the Google Assistant, while still being connected to my PC to do video editing work. I have been wearing these for many consecutive hours at a time and they have not bothered me at all. The battery life has been excellent as well, lasting me several days of work (and listening to music and/or replying to texts). I think I'm even getting well over the 30 hours of use they advertise. The fast charging is also super impressive. You can get around 3 hours of charge off of about 3 minutes of charging. Which is just crazy. I think my only real complaint is the lack inability to fold these up like the 1000X-M4s. The case is a little bulkier than the previous model because of this, but it's not significantly bigger.
Pros: Superb sound quality, very long battery life, excellent active noise cancelling, very comfortable (even for long sessions), easy setup, great features
Cons: Unable to collapse/fold up, a bit on the pricey side

Excellent performance at an affordable entry level
on May 14, 2022

from Broken Arrow, OK
This desktop PC provides excellent performance, especially at it's price. The RTX 3060 is a great entry level graphics card that definitely holds its own, and paired with the 12th gen i7, it was able to easily run any game I threw at it. Most were at their highest settings too. Gears 5 has a great benchmark tool, and I included a screenshot of the performance I was getting. Forza Horizon 5 also has a good benchmark tool. I've included a screenshot of it as well. Both these games were hitting 60fps at 4k with settings at either ultra or high. Very impressive. The tower also has some excellent lighting effects. Gaming PCs can sometime to a little over the top with the lighting. This one can be very subtle and has some cool options to sync the lights with what's on screen, or the current load on the system. The side window opening is also very cool looking paired with the lighting effects. The tower feels very well built, but may be on the large size for some. There's even a cool flip-out hanger to hang your headphones on the tower.
Pros: excellent performance at a great price, great lighting effects and see-through case
Cons: the tower is a fair amount larger than other towers I've had in the past

Easily the Best Robot Vacuum I've Used
on December 10, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
After owning and using several other robot vacuums, I can without question say the Roomba i6 is easily the best I've used. It easily navigated our house, including the transitions from hardwood to carpet or tile. Other robot vacuums I've tried would often get stuck navigating past the transition piece, or maybe get stuck on the shag-type rug we have in our living room. It would require a lot of planning to set up by placing boxes or something else down to create a barrier for the robot before it created a map to have any sort of success. The Roomba had none of these problems. It didn't get stuck on the shag carpet, easily navigated the transitions, and has always found its way back to the charging base.
The features and capabilities of the i6 are excellent. First, the map it created is very accurate and the speed and ability of its cleaning is much improved from any other vacuum I've tried. It has an option to do a faster first-time mapping that doesn't worry too much about vacuuming as well that worked great for our first time setup. Also, once the map has been created, it will do its best to create rooms for you house. In our case, these were a little all over the place with some odd angles, but I was able to edit the map and name them more appropriately for our needs. That part took a few minutes, but it was still easy to do, and I haven't touched it since. When the vacuum is running, you can also see what room it is currently cleaning by checking its status in the app. You also get a nice overlay of your map showing where the vacuum has cleaning once the job is complete.
The app itself is very well designed. It's clear that this has been carefully refined and it shows. It's easy to set up jobs, check the status of the vacuum and get everything set up so you don't really have to touch it. It just works. This is the way I think these should be!
This is the only robot vacuum that I've used that consistently cleans every room we ask it to on a consistent basis. It does so without getting stuck, and returns to its charging base to continue or complete the job without issue.
While the i6 still makes a reasonable amount of noise while it's working (it is a vacuum after all!), it is the quietest that I've used.
Overall, I can't say enough good things about the i6. It's an excellent robot vacuum that you can set up, and just let it work.
Pros: Easy setup, excellent app, consistent cleaning and operation without issue, faster and quieter than other robot vacuums I've used
Cons: The room generation during the initial mapping created quite a few dividers that were kind of all over the place. Though this was easily corrected by moving/removing the excess dividers that were created.

Easy to use and very quick
on November 1, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
I'll just start with saying this printer is very fast. I was impressed at just how quickly it prints. Setup was very easy. I started with setup on my desktop, and the app walks you through the process with illustrations to make the process even easier. I set up my phone shortly thereafter, which went very quickly, since I had already done the first-time setup on the computer. Adding the ink and printheads was also a simple process. I was somewhat worried that I'd be spilling ink everywhere trying to fill the printer, but HP has these very nice ink bottles that you put into the fill area and it presses the bottle open and drains it into the printer. It is very easy, and doesn't spill a drop. I also appreciate the added precision of the alignment process that checks it's work after you print the alignment page, by having you put it on the scanner so the printer can double-check itself. Pretty smart stuff. You can also set the printer to receive print requests from anywhere online, as long as you have the HP app. This is actually great for us, since we have 3 different WiFi networks that we use, and we don't have to make sure that we're on the same one as the printer to be able to print things. There's also a unique feature that allows you to set stuff to be picked up only when your close with your bluetooth device (like your phone) that verifies it's you. Definitely a cool idea, especially if you're printing anything with sensitive information.
Overall, this printer is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a smart, fast and easy to use printer. It also seems like it will be much more economical using the ink refills rather than cartridges as well.

Highly customizable lights
on October 26, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
This light strip is very customizable and easy to use. The options on how to set patterns and animations is very unique and creative. You use your camera to show the app how the lights are currently configured and then you can draw colors onto the light strip to dial in exactly the configuration you want. That feature along with the animated patterns make these some of the most customizable light strips I've used. I also like the option to have the lights react to music, a nice touch.
I did have a minor issue during setup that once I had the lights set up in the app, they sort of got stuck, and I was unable to do anything with them. However, I followed the manual's instructions on resetting them, and haven't had a problem since.
Another great thing about this light strip is the included mounting brackets. These are perfect for creating the exact layout you'd like, whether it's on the wall, or in my case I'm currently using them to add some backlighting to a shelf (which I've added some photos of along with this review). It includes some right-angled brackets as well as straight. There are also some premade templates you could use to make something like a music note, or a Christmas tree.
One final thing I've been having some trouble with is getting the lights to work with Google Assistant. My account has been added and synced to Google Home, but after issuing a command, it doesn't seem to be able to control them.
Pros: highly customizable, easy to use, great features
Cons: minor hiccups during setup, Google assistant control doesn't seem quite right just, double-sided adhesive on clips doesn't seem to want to stay put

Excellent Gaming Value
on June 17, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
You get a lot of machine for you money with this laptop. The i9 absolutely is a beast, and paired with the RTX 3060, this machine will handle most anything you throw at it. It's fast refresh rate is also very welcome, especially if you're targetting the highest framerate possible, and willing to turn off a few bells and whistles to get there. If you're after resolution and image quality, this laptop will definitely hit the mark too.I ran a few modern games without any performance issues whatsoever. Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 performed perfectly at Ultra settings and look amazing. With Gears, that was even with Global Illumination. Very impressive for a laptop.
When you're not gaming, Asus also has some cool profile modes that are built in to help keep the battery life as long as possible and the fans low or off, making it quiet in these modes. However, be prepared for this machine to put off some heat and moderate fan noise when under heavy loads. Using it in my lap while playing, it gets pretty warm, though that's to be excpected with the i9 and 3060 working hard. Those same components will also drain the battery, which again, is to be expected when they're under load. Asus also added a nice little touch of being able to set the RGB lighting of the keyboard to match what's on screen. It's a neat little touch that makes it even more of a pleasure to use. There's also a fingerprint reader nicely hidden on the power button. It's been very fast in my experience too.
The monitor is very nice quality, with a nice finish and excellent color reproduction. It also has very little bezel, so you get a lot of screen for a machine this size. Of course, not to mention that i's capable of 165Hz! It's also very easy to get a good angle on, as it can be pushed as far back as to be flat with the keyboard. There is one minor annoyance I have though, and that's with the indicator lights on the base that can sometimes be seen on the screen. It's not a huge issue though.
Audio is also handled very well for a portable machine. It supports Dolby Atmos, and sounds pretty great overall. The built-in mic array seemed to work well for the few times I used it as well. I didn't have any complaints about voice quality.
Charging is a nice surprise too. Asus claims it can charge 50% in about 30 minutes, and that was definitely the case in my exerpience. Which is excellent if you're going to do any gaming on battery power.
I added a couple of screenshots from some benchmarks I did in Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 as well. You can see how easily this laptop handles those games, even with a high performance target. Very easy to recommend this laptop if you're in the market for a well-performing portable gaming machine.
Pros: Excellent performance, helpful modes from Asus when in and out of gaming, nice looking laptop with some neat features for RGB lighting and Audio.
Cons: Can get fairly loud and warm under load, indicator lights can be a bit distracting in their location as they can be seen on the monitor.

Excellent color and features
on May 29, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
This monitor is very easy to recommend with its excellent color and response. Setup is very easy and most settings are perfect from the factory. The included cable makes getting up and running even faster. The 4k output is crisp and looks great, even at close scrutiny. The best feature, and the one most will be after is the inclusion of Freesync and Adaptive Sync. Which is implemented very well, and is awesome to include both options to support either of the manufacturer's (Nvidia or AMD) tech. While testing out a few games I was unable to see any drop in my frame rate at all. Super impressive and an excellent feature that anyone playing games should absolutely prioritize for their next monitor purchase.
Pros: Freesync and Adaptive Sync support, nicely designed, easy setup, great color
Cons: I do wish it supported 120hz, but that's not a huge problem, especially when targeting 4k.

You can't use circles to clean a square corner. That's why Neato introduced the D-shape to the industry more than 15 years ago. That D-shape allows for a brush right at the edge of the vacuum, instead of in between wheels like those round robots. This D-shape also fits an extra-large dirt bin that holds more during a cleaning session. The result? Corner-to-corner and edge-to-edge cleaning in a short amount of time. The Neato D8 has 30%+ longer runtime than the D4. That's 100 minutes of cleaning on a single charge. If your robot needs more time to finish a long cleaning run, it will auto-recharge and resume from exactly where it left off to finish the job. You don't have to babysit your robot while it's cleaning—with Neato, you can just let it run. The powerful performance you have come to expect from Neato continues with the D8. Combined with a High-Performance filter that traps up to 99% of allergens and dust particles, this is one vacuum you'll want to use every day. Switch from energy-saving Eco Mode for general vacuuming to high-performance Turbo Mode for a more powerful clean. The Neato D8 uses LaserSmart powered by LIDAR, the same technology found in self-driving vehicles, to map and navigate your home with precision, even in the dark like under furniture. Using lasers to understand where it is in your home, Neato methodically cleans from room to room in straight lines for a quicker clean, leaving your carpets with that satisfying just-vacuumed look. Worried about stairs? There's no need to be with Neato. Drop sensors automatically detect stairs to avoid falling down them and continues to learn your floorplan as you use it. Get cleaning in minutes with Neato’s hassle-free, Bluetooth-enabled setup. Using the MyNeato app, create No-Go Zones to define areas your robot should avoid like your pet's eating area and schedule Routines to clean when you want. It's an experience that makes Neato the clear choice for clean.

A good robot vacuum
on April 26, 2021
Posted by: dustinw
from BROKEN ARROW
I've used a few different robot vacuums and each se to have their pros and cons. The D8 seems to be one of the more thorough robot vacuums I've used. It's floor mapping is detailed and it overall does a good job of avoiding obstacles. It's still had a couple of odd moments where it's gotten stuck and just bumped into the wall before giving up. It also can't vacuum our shag-type rug.
The D8's "D" shape does help it get into corners as they suggest. I think it does to a better job there. It also does a good job of running close to walls. The software is also easy to use, and nicely designed.
Pros: good mapping, nice app, great at corner cleaning and getting close to walls
Cons: app does seem to have a couple bugs (like the map not generating and getting errors, as well as crashing a few times, though I'm confident these issues will be ironed out), unable to vacuum shag rugs

Sony's intelligent noise-cancelling headphones with premium sound elevate your listening experience with the ability to personalize and control everything you hear. Get up to 30 hours of battery life with quick charging capabilities, enjoy an enhanced Smart Listening feature set, and carry conversations hands-free with speak-to-chat.

One of my biggest pet peeves with headphones I have had is that I cannot charge them while I am using them. Can these be charged while in use so I don't have to interrupt what I'm listening to?

They cannot be used while being charged. You can however use them with a 3.5mm cable, even if they are dead. These will also fast-charge, meaning you can get about 5 hours of life with a 10 minute charge.

I've been really impressed with the battery life I'm getting. In less demanding tasks, like browsing or code editing (probably similar to Office software as far as the power required). I'm getting over 12 hours with the factory battery settings.

I am just starting to look at smartwatches and this caught my eye. I have a Samsung android smartphone and I would like to be able to download my iTunes library from my computer or ipod to it. Is this possible? Then can I sync it to my wireless beats?

I'm not positive on how it would be with iTunes, as I haven't tried that. You definitely can download songs onto the watch though, and leave your phone at home while you listened just using your watch. I'm just not positive on the iTunes library.

What is the recurring fee?

The recurring fee is for the LTE service. This is like the cell service you have on your smartphone. This allows the Owlcam to be accessed while you're away from your car.

Step into virtual reality with this Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset. The advanced optics produce a sharp display with bright, vivid colors, and Oculus Insight tracking removes the need for external sensors to convert movements into virtual reality. This Oculus Rift S PC-powered headset has a fit wheel that secures the headset with a quick twist.

Ok so there is the oculas quest no cables nothing like that but limited space and this one has wires and more games and more which one should i get?

The Rift S requires a PC and the Quest does not. The biggest difference will be quality of games. Rift S games will look much better, but require a decent PC. The Quest has roughly the graphical capabilities of a very high end phone, but doesn't require a PC, which allows you to just jump in and play.
