A fabulous BlueAir purifier with IoT app

Before agreeing to use and review this Pure 311i I have purchased several other Blueair air purifiers and find the brand to be the best: I like the Scandinavian minimalist design with different coordinating fabric prefilters. They run quiet with a simple color-coded visual of air quality. I have the 411 in both my kids and my own bed room and I feel like we all breath better having these run silently while we sleep. The 311i is a larger model, the largest from Blueair I've tried: and is great for my 24 x 20 ft living room, while its size means that it isn't invisible, I feel like I can put it in a corner next to the sofa and it gets good airflow without being obtrusive. Like I expected: it runs quiet and I've enjoyed the color coded notifications of my indoor air quality. I also like that this one now comes with a mobile app: professionally I'm a product manager and I'm obsessed with analytics, so it's great to be able to get historical context around when my indoor air quality caused the 311i to run harder and how that indoor air quality related to the outdoor air quality at my house. I found it pretty straightforward to setup the app, easier than setting up some other IoT devices like lightbulbs or thermostats. I was hoping that the air purifier was compatible with the Matter smart device standard so that I could add it to my other Smart Home suite of devices but given that the app and air purifier are both nice I'm happy with them in their stand alone format.

A great wireless keyboard

This keyboard has a sturdy construction that feels super premium. Before trying it out I was using a Logitech K270 which by comparison feels like it came with you desktop, only it wireless. This MX keyboard has a solid feel, like there is a steel plate underneath to cover. The keys are excellent, I had improved feel and keystroke throughout my work when I tried it out for two 10+ hour work days. I did have a couple problems: like all logitech keyboards I've ever used there were occasional issues with no response or repeated keys I didn't press. These usually occurred when pausing typing (videocall) and picking back up, you need to accept that this is a fact of life with wireless keyboards and be willing to accept that for the flexibility in your WFH setup wireless provides. I also was annoyed that the F1-F12 keys are not function keys by default and I had to find a reddit post in order to know how to Fn+Esc to make them work the way I expect, the way they have for over 30 years. One benefit of this keyboard, like its MX mice cousins, is that it has the agility to connect to multiple devices: you can setup three different devices and you just push a button to switch from work laptop to work desktop to play chromebook. If you install the logitech options app on your machines you also have the ability to seamlessly move from one system to the other and while I've tried and like this with MX mice I've used (and still use) I can't set that software up on my current work machines and so I'm confused as to how it would work and if it's really helpful: Having one keyboard at your desk and being able to seamlessly use it with any equipment (chrome, windows, Mac, up to three devices) really is helpful, and its great to do it with a premium feeling keyboard.

Very Nice Patio Addition for Spring and Fall

Overall this feels like a nice little heater. The first clear night I had I tried it out. In 40F night with a light breeze I could comfortable sit out on my patio in a sweatshirt. This is a great addition to your backyard to get more use out of spring evenings and to extend the year late into fall as well.
I found the assembly to be OK -- Make sure that you get play sand (less than $10/bag at the hardware store) and I filled the base after attaching the brackets for tank. I noticed that it looked like it would be quite uncomfortable to try pouring sand into the cap if I waited to the end like the instructions suggested. I also found that a number of the pieces of hardware that were installed (screws in the burner, bolts in the base) were actually floating around in the shipping packaging instead of where expected, so be very careful when you unwrap everything. Overall assembly took a little over an hour, with the bulk of that time spent filling the sand and removing all of the protective coating from the steel deflector pieces, so pretty straightforward.
I found that its a good, quiet heat source - it has a low hiss of a quality gas grill instead of a high decibel woosh, easy to have a conversation over. I've used it on low and medium settings and you can get quiet comfy as far as 5ft away sitting down, it may provide ample heat further than that if I turn it up. I was able to operate it for two hours without any incidents and I didn't notice any off smells or smoking on initial use which can be a problem with propane burners.
The wheels are a little flimsy and the ergonomics of moving it around aren't great so I do recommend getting a cover for it and using the stakes to secure it. And then wheel it back to long term storage when the warm nights arrive in summer.
I was a little skeptical of getting an Insignia branded propane heater, but I've found its operation to be as good or better than more premium brands in the market and recommend it!

Great alternative to Professional Hair Removal

We tested this out in my family over the last 8 weeks and have had impressive results for much less than comparable services cost at hair removal offices. We were willing to try it out given the online reputation of the company: I was highly skeptical of using an OTC laser on my skin and knowing that this is a trustworthy company was necessary for me to be comfortable trying it out.
I like the size of this device, its small and portable and I'd liked the weight in my hand and it didn't feel cheap. It's a little tricky to actually use though given that its corded and you will most likely plugged in by your bathroom sink while you maneuver around your body with it in the smallest room of your house. Its fantastic that there are unlimited flashes so that once you've purchased the removal system you can be as hair as sasquatch and (eventually) get the whole job done. The actual process of removing the hair can be very time consuming, every single hair follicle needs to be zapped, after its shaved. If you are very sensitive then it can be more intimidating to do the device yourself rather than having another person in control. I personally find it nice being able to handle this in the privacy of your own home rather than having others work on your skin and can say that this device is an option if you're interested in hair removal but are uncomfortable with the thought of sitting for several hours as someone works on you in a professional setting.

My wife tried this on her legs and said that her regular extensive waxing is quite more painful. Laser hair removal was also less awkward than the home waxing kits we resorted to in COVIDworld. Additionaly tought from my fairer half: My wife has a large butterfly birthmark on her lower leg that we avoided testing this product out on. You probably want to check with your doctor before using it anywhere that has birthmarks as well.
So the biggest question I'm sure everyone is wondering is does it work? I found my results to be exactly as advertised: not every follicle I zapped is hair free but the fair that has grown back is much lighter and weaker than before I used, my back hair is barely noticeable after using this and I'm sure with continued treatment it would be gone. Keep in mind that this was 8 weeks after treatment, zapping every follicle. So Yes this is an affordable inhome replacement option to professional treatment, provided you have the patience and commitment to do it.
My biggest Nit was I wish there was a little more details about things like birthmarks and other dos and dont of use included in the instructions

Another great edition of the best Windows device

This Surface is one of several Surface-line products that I have used over the years. I feel like they really do represent the best Windows experience: much like Pixel android phones or Apple products -- software and hardware feel like they work in sync. This one is in an emerald metallic green which is a great variation from the somewhere between silver and black that most laptops come in: Space Gray need not apply. This Surface Pro 9 features enough power for light gaming, ample battery life for longer zoom meetings with great microphone and audio to make those long meetings just a little easier. While often repeated it is true: I do wish that MS would include the keyboard and pen with the tablet as it is barely usable without them -- Windows is just not as much a tablet experience as a touch with keyboard.
I use Surface both at work and for play: I wish this could be my corporate device as I can do more with it with a better battery life and greater portability than my work issued Surface Laptop.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Probably the best 3P controller for switch

Overall I liked this controller. I did have to charge it before syncing but otherwise setup was easy. I like that it has both white and black face plates included in the package. I'm not sure that you would really switch plates out unless you have doritos hands while you're playing and need to clean it, but it helps solve the problem of having to make a commitent at the time of purchase or only having one color available in stock. I went with white myself and was satisfied. I have nintendo's OEM controller and overall I do find that controller to be better, but this is a much more cost effective solution and unlike most 3P controllers, you're not missing any features (hepatic and force feedback!!) by using non OEM controller. The reason I like the OEM one more is that it has a certain level of heft in my hand and is slightly bigger for my grownup hands. Tweens and younger folks will probably appreciate the slightly smaller form factor of this. Its a great way to add full-functioning controllers to your original Switch or Switch-OLED in order to gather around the TV and brawl it out rather than having to use the joycons or spending money on several ($$!) OEM controllers.

Great headset for all day work!

I've really enjoyed this headset. It has enough battery that my 6 - 9 hours of conference calls can be handled without a problem with an overnight charge. I can also stream music when not on calls without worrying that I will have to switch mic's/speakers in the middle of a call. I primarily use this with the USB-A dongle. That wireless dongle can work in a Mac if you have a USB-A to USB-C adapter (included), which I used, or with the included hardwire (eww!). I like the dongle so that I can use the headset with both personal and work laptops as well as my wife's laptop without worrying about the number of paired devices -- just plug and play!
I have also paired this using bluetooth to my phone. The headset supports being simultaneously connected to computer and bluetooth with mixed results -- if I get a call on my phone the headset doesn't always move back over to get computer audio after word. When this happens I have to turn the headset off and on in order to get the computer back to happy.
My biggest NIT is that I have a relatively small house, and if I go more than a room and half away from a connected device the headset starts to lose connection: this is more like 25 feet, not 50 meters! If you're some kinda extreme zoom caller who is trying to do BMX tricks on your backyard halfpipe while on the call this is probably not the right headset for you. I say NIT because most of us will be happy to stay with 25 feet of our laptop or phone while we use the device, but it feels a touch ridiculous that the advertised range is so far away from actual.

Reliable WiFi 6 throughout, once finally setup

I have an existing Linksys Router with multiple remote boosters and was interested in moving to a true mesh network. This system had high expectations to meet as we have a farm and run wifi cameras out in the barn and horse arena. The current configuration gets the job done usually but the camera out by the arena loses wifi strength for large points in time.
I recently setup a Netgear Nighthawk Mesh Wifi 6 in the main house and that was very seamless and great improved the reliability and speed of internet through the house – I was expecting a similar experience with the Linksys.
It’s been two weeks and I’ve finally gotten Linksys’s mesh setup. The setup was supposed to be simple and easy. But I found pain in every attempt.
I was disappointed that the only setup documentation in the package was a business card telling me to download an app, no QR code so I had to take on faith that I picked the right one. The app continually failed to load the router.
My thinking was that the web admin portal would be a valid way of working however when you login to 192.168.1.1 all you get is a referral to use the app: There is ZERO option except to use an app wizard to set this up.
Once I finally got the router recognized by the app and got started with the process I found the process was overly step by step where I could’ve setup the network in 5 minutes each individual step took multiple minutes and to get both the router and the additional node setup took well over 30 minutes, and that’s after I finally got the app to recognize the router.
Once I got everything setup the speeds were impressive and while the WiFi by the arena is not perfect I no longer get Nest notifications that the camera is out (so outages are brief and far more reliable).
In the end, after the bad setup days you do get great WiFi over a broad coverage area. I do goback to that Netgear Nighthawk Mesh that I have in the house though. If I had the choice of one, this that I have in the barn or the one in the house, I would buy the Netgear over again over this. It’s not bad, and in time I’m sure it will be great but the setup did really leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Best Mouse for your home office.

I've been using this new MX Master for the past couple days of work, syncing this both to my work computer and personal computer. I have the original MX Master from 2017 and its been nice noticing the upgrades and changes that have come along in the last 5 years. The form factor feels better in my hand and I like the visual aesthetic with some harder edges that the original. There were two major features that Logitech highlighted with the release of the 3S: Softer click buttons and a finer DPI laser that allows you to use the mouse on any surface. I'm not sure if I were buying this in a vacuum I would notice how soft the buttons are, but when comparing to the original Master the sound of clicking is night/day different and allows my to click around through documents while on calls without my mic picking it up. While I confess that I did not try the mouse on glass, I was really impressed with how smooth this mouse moves on cork, leather and wood. I feel confident that it would be smooth on any conference room table or office setup and allows you to move exactly where you want.
In short this mouse will work with any device - I've connected it to my work ChromeOS and MacOS machines and my personal Windows 11 machine, provides high quality movement on any surface, is extremely (ALL DAY) comfortable in your hand, and has made notable improvements on what was already a great platform. I highly recommend this as the best mouse you can buy for a home office

Dyson still makes the best vacuum for pet owners

Dyson products seem to always be ones made to delight. I really enjoyed this vacuum which is an upgrade for my family over a Dyson - Cinetic Big Ball Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum - Iron/Purple that purchased from Best Buy 6 years ago. 6 years later and Dyson's vacuums are still amazing, this one has strong suction that you expect from the name and is somewhat smaller and more compact that the predecessor. I think it runs quieter too although I have not used the deicbel app to compare quantitatively. The smaller size means that there are spots in the corners and around furniture that are now easier to vacuum than before but the head itself sits taller, tall enough that I can no longer vacuum underneath the chairs and couches.
The reason for the change in headsize is actually the main draw of this vacuum -- the head has been completely redesigned so as to prevent the bunching of pet hair within the bristles. As we have a dog and two cats sharing the house with us, this has been a pain point in the past. Even our dysons need to be taken apart and cleaned of fur at least every 6 weeks so that they continue to run smooth. The early results from a weekend of vaccuming are very promising: the bristles are still out-of-the-box new despite several passes over our house that had gone embarrasingly long between vacuums prior delivery of a new machine. I'm hopeful that this is another part of cleaning that Dyson has made slightly easier.

Its better than other head phones I've used but isn't ideal. If you're in a quiet office everything is great. They pick up less background noise then average but I had my wife use them while I called her on a walk and I could hear a lot of wind noise and she was a little "tin-ie"
