this Schulze release is a fine example of his musical prowess in the 1970s. it's both lovely and eerie, a lot like similar artists--Tangerine Dream & Popol Vuh. repeated listenings only enhance this gem. find his other 70s CDs especially Body Love Pt 2
solid effort from Chris that is as impressive for his vokill ability as much as his well-noted axe work. who can't relate to the lyrics of "P*sses Me Off"??? this CD bristles w/power & attitude and will not disappoint fans of 'Tage or Jon Oliva's Pain.
What's great about it: shows what's good about metal in the 2000s
Ricky Medlocke and the boys were flyin' high w/this one--track down any of the live shows from this era and you'll hear many of these classic BF tracks. ths CD is a must-have along w/Marauder and Strikes!
What's great about it: 10 bullets of hard rock from the Southlands
one knows all about "Driver's Seat" but don't overlook the rest of this CD reissue. there are some tasty tracks like "Thrill Of It All" and "Looking For You" that could rock an arena or (on the flip side) fill a disco dance floor.
What's great about it: sharp cover painting by singer/mastermind Paul Roberts
excellent AOR band that has flown under the radar when the cream of the 1970s are discussed. mucho talent & crafty songwriting on display in glistening tracks like "Night Life" and "Rodeo Drive
What's great about it: Nice cover painting by mastermind Paul Thomas
this band runs circles around most 1970s groups in the hard rock/progressive vein---when you sport Allan Holdsworth and Ollie Halsall on guitar there are few others who can hold a candle. 1st CD from this set contains their 2 albums and 2nd CD is live @ BBC. too bad the band fizzled out quick cuz they were heavy, classy, and ahead of the curve.
What's great about it: UK all-star lineup
What's not so great: FM & satellite radio won't play these guys!?
2 for 1 release of 2 of the rubies from the rock crown from legend Alex Harvey. His catalog was in need of an overhaul for a while and at last here they are. There's no shortage of controversy and humor & it's blended w/a vicious brand of UK hard rock. Members went on to play w/Gillan, MSG, Nazareth, etc
Contains nuggets like "Vambo" and "Midnight Moses
What's great about it: mega-talented band behind Alex
brilliant set from BBC gives us a vein of gold from Ireland's legendary Rory G.
honest, classy, and blue-collar... Rory always had a top band w/him & on this set their fire is displayed for all to hear. Collect his other releases to round out your CD stack.
Horslips create a blend of traditional Irish music & rock and roll. This could only have originated in the 1970s when the shackles of commercialism didn't chain the artists. Fans looking for an easy, safe listen need not apply. If you enjoy rock w/a progressive flair then jump aboard. Fits nicely next to contemporaries like Gentle Giant, Caravan, etc.
What's great about it: one-of-a-kind Irish rock band
Malice were, and are, well respected by knowing metal fans for their tough, crisp sound. This CD reissue demostrates their ability to create a razor sharp brand of rock comparable to the nastiest Judas Priest or early 80s Accept. Expect a well produced product featuring stinging axe-work and James Neal's metallic vokill range. Locate their 1st one "In The Beginning" as well.
What's great about it: classy metal in the age of posers
