Decent mid-budget phone from Sony
on April 9, 2019
Posted by: MacUser
from Memphis
Let me start off by saying that this is great budget phone with almost every feature that other high end phones provide. However, there are some limitations, specially the camera quality. In today's world, when companies do everything that they can to offer a top notch camera specs, Sony has definitely failed here. It took me very little time and efforts to set it up.
The phone did not come charged. So first thing I had to do after taking it out of the box was to charge it, which took a while to fully charge. The phone itself is quite slim and ridiculously tall. It's more pronounced than I had imagined, having used another fairly long smartphone. I own an iPhone XS Max but this phone still felt bigger in terms of height for first few uses but eventually, I got used to it. Picture quality, resolution, clarity, colors, etc. are excellent. 21:9 aspect ratio allows for less scrolling, but not worth due to the size inconvenience attached to it. If you are into watching extra wide screen movies on your phone, then you will really enjoy this aspect ratio. Unlike most phones, the sensor is on the side. This phone is quite thin, so you can imaging how narrow this sensor could be. It works very well, but not always.
It has a dual sim capability. I like the fact that it is 5Ghz Wi-Fi capable, so the streaming of videos and gaming are better. And of course, the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi is also supported. Besides that, it comes with Android 9 Pie running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which makes it a very fast smartphone. And it has a wide high quality and clear display. It also uses mostly Android apps, and the Sony apps included are not bothersome. One can use them, or disable them without problems. The USB-C type connector for charging and data transfer is a great feature. A charging cable is with a USB-C type connector on one end and a USB-A connector on the other end is supplied together with a wall-charger to use with it.
Overall I think it is a good device, with the exception of handling inconvenience due to the form factor.

Great addition to Smart technology
on November 20, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
Lately, we have been getting our hands into smart home technology and these bulbs have been the latest addition. I was really excited to use them. I've seen smart bulbs at my cousin's house but never really thought about getting them until recently. I must say these Sengled smart LED bulbs have been a great addition. Not to forget, they are compatible with Google assistant and Alexa, not with Apple's HomeKit as of now. We have Google home hub at home and I paired these smart bulbs with it. It has 16 Million color output, tunable warm white to daylight (2000K - 6500K)
The box came with the following:
-3 smart LED bulbs
-A hub
-Ethernet cable
-Charging cable
-An adapter
What surprised me was that the charging cable has a USB at one end that goes into the adapter but the other end is a round pin that goes into the hub. So that means if you lose or damage the cable, you will have to buy it. You just can't use a universal mini USB cable lying around at home. That's so strange of a company not to design the product to market standard. They are little pricey. If you need only couple of these in the house, then it won't matter much but if you are planning to install them in a large quantity in your house, then the price will make a huge difference. A maximum of 64 bulbs will work with each hub.
Set-up was breeze. It literally took me less than 10 minutes to set them up completely. I connected the hub with my router through the ethernet cable and powered it up. Downloaded the Element Home app and let it do the rest. The hub only supports the 2.4 GHz WiFi band by the way. To set up wireless hub, unplug the ethernet cable and wait for 60 seconds to power off the hub. Relocate the hub to desired location, plug in the power cable and there you go. Please note that the initial set up with the ethernet cable has to be done before doing the wireless set up.
The app itself is a bit confusing and is unresponsive at times. But when you get a hang of it, it's easy to use. It lets you schedule the time to turn individual bulbs ON or OFF automatically, lets you change the colors of each bulb separately. You can even adjust the brightness and color temperature. My 3 YO son jumps in joy when he sees different colors on the bulbs. That is something new for him too. I can now control the lighting in my house from wherever I am through my phone. The bulbs remember the last settings as well. For example, if you set up red color on one of the bulbs and turned it off from the actual physical switch (not from the app) and then if you turn the switch on, the bulb will turn on as red and won't default back to white.
Overall, I am pleased with how these Sengled smart bulbs work. Yes, they have some limitations but nothing in this world is perfect. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for smart bulbs.

Worth the "Shot"
on November 15, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
This is my second Keurig coffee machine and has impressed me so much. I had a Keurig K15 coffee maker before which I gave away after getting this one. I had no problem with my old one but when I saw his awesome new machine which can make Latte and Cappuccino as well, and on top of that has a frother, I was sold & I'm so glad that we got it. My wife is a coffee fanatic and she just loves it. We've been using it for over a week now. It has so much more to offer than just coffee. We use the frother all the time. This was the feature our other machine lacked.
What came in the box:
-Coffee Machine with 60 oz water reservoir
-Milk Frother
-Owner's Manual
We have K-cups from a variety of brands (Starbucks, Cafe Escape, Tully's Dunkin' Donuts to name a few) and tried almost all of them with this machine. Taste wise, I would say you won't notice much difference if you just use it as a coffee maker but adding the froth in the coffee makes it so much better that you will thank yourself for getting this machine. Like mentioned above, in addition to coffee, you can also make latte, cappuccino, tea, hot chocolate etc in this.
I was really excited about the frother mainly because the country where I come from has a completely different coffee than what we get here the US. It's so much better just because of the froth. I've been living in the states for about 10 years now but have never found the same taste in the coffee. No matter where I get my coffee from. I've tried making the coffee in a tea pan on stove as well but failed. Using this Keurig machine makes my coffee just as good. It's that awesome. I sprinkle a little bit of cocoa powder on top of the froth to add that mojo. That makes it super delicious. I'm sure I'm not the only one to do that.
The 60 oz water reservoir is big enough to brew up to 6 cups of coffee, of course depending on what size coffee you make as the machine comes with option of 6, 8, 10, and 12 oz cup brewing. The reservoir has a handle which makes it easy to handle, refill and reinstall. The coffee brewing process is simple. Just insert your K-cup, press cup size, choice of brew and the big K button to initiate the brewing. You will have your coffee ready in a minute or so. One thing that surprised me is that it's not overly noisy as compared to other machines. Using frother is simple as well. There are two line markings inside the frother, one each for latte and cappuccino. Just pour in the milk up to your desired line and press the button and there's your froth. Pour the foam into your coffee mug and enjoy. I have used regular as well as almond milk in the frother. It works great either way. The frother is dishwasher safe by the way.
The only thing that may bother some is the footprint. It's slightly wider than a regular Keurig machines but if you are a froth lover, then trust me, it's worth it. You will not have any buyer's remorse. We live in an apartment and have limited counter space in the kitchen. So I moved some other stuff just to make space for my awesome new Keurig machine. I use it everyday, so wanted to keep it somewhere I can easily get to. Be prepared to move your stuff around if you have less space.
One important thing that I would like to mention here is that the machine might trip your GFI circuit breaker. I tried to find a solution online and found that Auto Off feature is most likely be the reason behind it. I turned off this feature as I usually turn off my coffee maker after using anyways. I haven't used the machine much after that, so can't really tell if Auto Off was the reason behind tripping the breaker or something else. But it's a problem to be aware of.
This Keurig machine costs $199.99+ tax at the moment, which might be a bit expensive for some but if you are a coffee lover, it's worth price. With shopping season coming up, I'm sure there will be sales. So for someone who can't spend over $200, I would suggest to wait but will definitely recommend this coffee maker to everyone.

Great add on to our kitchen accessories
on November 4, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
Don't get me wrong when I say it's a great add on to our kitchen accessories. By accessories, I meant gadgets we use for listening to or watching while working in the kitchen. We already have a Google Home and Insignia's Smart Bluetooth Speaker with Google Assistant but the feature that tempted us to get this Google Home Hub was its screen. I know there are some other similar gadgets available in the market but it was first of its kind for us and moreover, its from Google and you can't get wrong with Google. So we got it without even a second thought and are happy that we did. We've been using it for little over a week and it hasn't disappointed us so far.
It has a quivering 7" display screen which our both other devices lacked. It may be small for some but is good for us. It's smaller as compared to Lenovo's 10" or other competitors. Set up was breeze and took no time from start to finish. I immediately connected my other smart devices and everything was up & running. I love that you can display your google photos on the screen. My 3 yo son is addicted and jumps in joy when he sees his pics displayed on the screen. If nothing else, it can serve as a picture frame.
Pros:
-Smaller Foot print: We live in an apartment, so have a very limited space. This Google home is just about the size that we need and put on our kitchen counter. Its incredibly lightweight as well
-Display Screen: You get a display screen along with the speaker which can be used to watch youtube videos
-Customization: The screen is fully customizable. You can choose to display the clock or your pictures. It can display the temperature or even the maps
-Automatic Dimming: Google home hub has an ambient light sensor, (that by the way can be mistaken as camera) that adjusts the brightness of the screen according to the ambient light which is a great feature if you have it in your bedroom. It will automatically dim the brightness the moment you turn off the lights
-Affordable: With the price being $149, although it's a bit expensive than other smart devices from Google but it's definitely cheaper than the same family devices from its competitors like Amazon Echo Show or Lenovo Smart Display or JBL Link View
Cons:
-No Camera: It does not have a camera, so that means no video chatting. But looking from a different perspective, it's good to not have a camera, so you have no privacy issues at all. Use your phone or tablet for video chatting
-No battery: This is the most important feature that I miss in this device. It does not have a battery, that means you will have to plug it in all the time. I can't understand why this wasn't made wireless. The only reason I can come up with is the footprint. Google wanted to make it as small as possible and that might have been the reason for leaving the battery out
-Decent sound: The sound is not that great on this device. You will be better off using your other devices if you are an audiophile but for simple sounds, it serves the purpose. It's fine if you want to listen to background music, but it's not particularly loud or crisp. Unfortunately, the sound quality isn't in the same league as other smart displays like the Amazon Echo Show or the JBL Link View.
-No Netflix: You can't stream Netflix on this device. The only streaming app is Youtube and that's what you will have to live with
-No Onscreen Keyboard: There is no on screen keyboard. So you will have to rely on Google assistant to find whatever you are looking for. If its something in English, there hardly will be any problem but if you are searching for something in foreign language, then good luck hitting the bulls eye or getting anywhere close to it
With so many cons mentioned above, I am still in love with my Google Home Hub. I can live with all above cons but the "no battery" one. We don't live in a perfect world and every gadget has its pros & cons. I'm sure Google with come up with a modified version. Overall, I am satisfied with this and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Great alternative to conventional BBQ
on November 1, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
DeLonghi has always been my go-to brand in terms of small home appliances. We own quite a few appliances from them and are pretty much satisfied with them all. This product is no different. We live in the apartment, hence have a very limited space and absolutely no backyard where we can put a conventional BBQ grill. I do own a small flat top grill which I use quite often but the problem with that is it's outdoor. So with winters coming up, it's hard to use outside in the balcony. This DeLonghi grill has absolutely saved my life. I can use it indoor without any need of propane gas cylinder. It being an electric grill, has given us a lot of advantage. I was reluctant to get this initially but the wife insisted, so we got this and honestly, I am so happy that we did.
It comes with two flat griddle plates and two grill plates (with grooves). You just push a button on the side and lift them out up and at an angle. It's great that they come off so easily for cleaning. A plastic cleaning tool is also provided with it and is very useful. Both plates are non-stick which is a huge plus because it allows you to use less oil. You can even use non-stick spray. I recently started my health journey and have been eating mostly chicken and fish. So this griddle has helped a lot. Chicken comes out well done and juicy. With the outdoor grill, I used to cook chicken at once for at least 3-4 days just because I didn't want to clean it everyday but with this DeLonghi, I cook everyday. It's so much easy to clean.
There are three knobs. The middle knob lets you choose between open grill or the closed position. Then one dial is for controlling the panini function and the other dial is if you are using the grill plate. When you turn it on, you have to wait for few minutes for it to warm up, and then the green light will come on signaling that it's time to cook. It goes up to 450F/230C.
It also comes with a couple of drip cups that you can use when grilling something greasy. I marinate my chicken with a lot of marinade, specially the tandoori marinade which tends to ooze out a lot while grilling. So these drip cups help in collecting all that waste along with the grease if any. I love that the plates are removable and washable. This is great, so much better than cleaning my other grill. The plate on that grill is so big and our sinks are very small in comparison, so it becomes very hard to wash it but the DeLonghi plates are so small, making cleaning easy. It's great for making paninis as well which my wife likes quite a bit as she is a panini fanatic. According to her, it's the best so far. Both top and bottom sides heat evenly which is a problem with some other grills where one side heats slower than the other. This helps cook food evenly in this DeLonghi grill. We haven't tried making pancakes on this yet but I'm sure they will come out just as perfect. We might give them a try next time.
I must mention here that the grill is lightweight and so are the plates, which are super light. My other grill's plate is heavy duty which makes it hard to clean. The size is perfect for our family (2 adults + 1 kid) and we can cook our one meal at the same time. For a bigger family, size might be an issue.
The only drawback that I found is that the temperature setting are very hard to read, especially if you are using it in not well lit area. The fonts are marked with kind of light beige color which makes it very difficult to read. Overall, I am very much satisfied with this product and will definitely recommend it.

Can't replace the conventional vacuum
on October 27, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
This is our first ever robotic vacuum, so we were literally noob in this field. I had to watch few youtube videos to get started on his. We were all excited to use this. First of all, if you have carpet at your home, bear in mind that this robotic vacuum can't replace the conventional vacuum because it will not clean as good as you yourself. After all, it's a robot, not a human. We have wooden floor in our kitchen where it cleans little better than the carpet. On the carpet, we still have to vacuum with our dyson after the Deebot finishes its business.
First of all, let's see what comes in the box:
1) The ECOVACS Robotics DEEBOT N79SE itself
2) Two round brushes
3) Charger and cable
4) Remote Control
5) Brush for cleaning the vacuum and round brushes
6) Two AAA batteries
7) Owner's Manual
Ecovacs instructs users to charge the vacuum for at least 4 hours before first use which we did and gave it a try. It has been doing a decent job but again does about 80%, not complete which is okay for the excellent price. It can be connected with your wifi but only with the 2.4 GHz not with 5 GHz. The instruction on the box also tell that it can be connected with Google home or Amazon Alexa. We own a google home, so I was excited to give it a try. It was relatively easy to set up but honestly, this feature works sporadically. Sometime, we would ask google to start the Deebot and it would reply with its typical response: "Sorry, this device has not been set up yet" but will work the next time if requested, literally after 5 seconds which is just ridiculous. I'm not sure if this is the problem with our google home or the vacuum itself. One feature that I really like about it is when it's about to die, it will automatically find its charger and dock itself to recharge. I'm not sure if its a new feature or an industry standard as it's our first robotic vacuum.
Deebot also came with a remote with several modes and an added bonus of a digital clock. You can also download Ecovacs app on your phone which again is just average. Half of the time, it shows the vacuum to be offline. So I have to close the app and reopen to get it "online" but that's the issue with the app not the vacuum. I just wanted to bring it up here as a heads up.
Pros:
-Does job for you automatically when you are feeling lazy
-Has different modes of cleaning
-Can be scheduled for cleaning
-Automatically charges itself
-Not very loud
Cons:
-Didn't work well with Google home
-Was hoping replacement brushes but they were not provided
-Does not completely clean the house, additional vacuuming needed
-The App is useless most of the time, you are better off using the physical remote
-Does not has a handle to lift
It's a good product overall with few minor issues but for the price, I would definitely recommend it.

Hands Down: The best blender out there
on October 27, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
I've been using this for over a week now and it has really impressed me. Coincidently, I started my health journey around the same time and this has been my best friend all along. I make smoothies twice a day and it has yet to disappoint me. My wife also like it very much. We had a relatively inexpensive blender that we bought about 2 years ago which has been alright. Didn't impress us much but was useful when needed. Ever since we got this Ninja, we never look back.
I was skeptical about getting this Ninja looking at its negative online reviews everywhere but still wanted to give it a try. So far it has been great. Seems like they launched a new model. Most negative reviews were about the putrid smell from the lid and also the seal but they need to realize that it needs to be cleaned thoroughly & regularly. I hand wash them every other day. I even remove the seal to clean it properly. That's the key right there which I learned while researching about this product. As long as you do it, you won't get any foul smell or bad taste in your smoothies.
About the product, it has a powerful 1000W motor capable of blending almost everything. It came with two cups: 18 oz & 24 oz, both with their own spout lids. Unfortunately, it comes with only one blade. As with all the nutri ninjas, the chopper blades are made from very thick stainless with sharp leading edges. The Auto-IQ system is something new to me. I use it while I'm multitasking and it's impressive. According to the company: "It takes the guesswork out of drink making. Auto-iQ Technology features intelligent programs that combine unique timed pulsing, blending and pausing patterns that do the work for you". It has two modes: "Auto-iQ blend" (45 seconds) and "Auto -iQ ultra blend" (60 seconds). They automatically pulse, pulse, run for a bit, then pulse, pulse, and run for a bit etc. This works quite well. It allows everything in the larger cups to drop and settle then get mixed and blended over and over. You get a consistently smooth smoothie. One important thing to be aware is not to overfill the cups.
Overall, I'm completely satisfied with this and will definitely recommend it to anyone.

By far, the best one I've ever had
on August 8, 2018
Posted by: MacUser
from Sacramento, CA
Recently, I upgraded from Philips Norelco 3100 to this one and I must say, this is a game changer. I have owned 4 trimmers before this one and it's safe to say that this is the best one I've ever had. I used the previous one for more than 5 years and it's battery would not hold charge for more than 10 mins anymore and still taking over a day to recharge. And if it came across any thick patch of beard, it would stop right there. That led me to think that it's the time to upgrade. When I think of beard trimmers, the only company that comes to my mind is Philips Norelco. I do not even look for any other brand. That's how much I admire this brand.
I came across this Philips Norelco 3000 beard trimmer and immediately got it to try it out. I'm glad I'm not disappointed. It already came charged out of the box. Philips claim the battery to last for 90 mins. I cannot comment on that yet because so far, I've only used it twice, for about 15 mins each time and it was still going strong. I don't think it needs charging yet. I think it can still go for about 2 more usages before the battery dies. The other one's blade moved very slowly even on a full charge but this one's way better. I could immediately feel the difference when used for the first time.
This is not a multigroom trimmer, so don't expect all the accessories with it (like different razor guards etc.) It comes with a charger, cleaning brush and a carrying pouch. That's it. No other bells & whistles. The trimmer has a nice grip which has a rubberized finish that doesn't let it fall off your hands. It also has a rotating dial that ranges from .5mm to 10mm length. My previous trimmer's dial became so sensitive that it would rotate by a gentle touch that has occasionally caused me some troubles. I use the trimmers at 6 setting or 5 at the least but due to the dial problem, the old one would shift to as low as 3 sometimes without me even realizing and now I look like a teenager desperately waiting for my beard to grow. I hope this trimmer doesn't go the same route in future. At the moment, the dial seems quite firm on the selected setting. Another thing that I would like to mention is that it's not waterproof, so don't use it as a wet shaver.
All in all, I am very much satisfied with this trimmer and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy one.

Works as expected
on July 10, 2018

The cable works just as expected. I have an iPhone 7 that lacks the headphone jack. Although apple provided an adapter with the phone that can be used to connect your headphone, aux cable etc but it was a pain to carry it with you all the time. I almost always forget to take it with me while driving, so I have to rely on the bluetooth to connect with my car stereo which is not a big of a deal. The only problem I face is the lag between the audio from my phone and the car system. For example while using youtube, there's a lag of almost 2-3 seconds. This Belkin Lightning-to-3.5 mm Audio Cable has solved this problem. This is a big plus for the people that have car without the bluetooth technology.
I had a long road trip last week (11+ hours each way) and I used this cable all the way during the drive. I never noticed any quality drop in the sound. I've tried it with few different system with no difference in sound quality.
Other good thing about it is the color. I got a black version. The apple's white cables gets dirty easily. The cable comes in two different lengths: 3' & 6' with later being $35 ($6 more expensive than the other). I got the 3' version which was more than enough for me. Some people might find it a bit expensive. It is certified by Apple under its MFi Program. Hence the high price. I would definitely recommend this cable to everyone who has an iPhone 7 or above.

Hands down: Best wireless charger

I was excited to try this new technology with my iPhone X. I've been using this for over a week now and so far, it hasn't disappointed me. I have a caseology case on the phone and it charges just as good as it does without the cover. My biggest fear of using a wireless charger was that it might not work well with phone having case but I was proven wrong by this amazing charger. The only issue that some users might have is the phone sliding off the charger if they don't have a cover on the phone which isn't the case with me. You can set your phone on it in any direction, and it starts charging instantly. Some of the other available wireless chargers either heat up the phone or the charger or sometimes both but this Belkin wireless charger doesn't give any of those issues.
The build quality and feel definitely make it worth the price. Most other wireless chargers require you to provide the power source but this one already comes with one. The cable is about 5 feet long which more than enough for us. The other good thing about this charger is that it supports 110V/220V which is like a blessing for someone like me who travels to Asia very often. Like in my home country, they use 220V.
My initial plan was to use it on my bedside table overnight which I did but later realized this is not great for bedside use - since your phone has to face up and will light up every time a notification comes through. And I'm kind of a person who lays his phone face down so I don't get bothered with the light. So I stopped using it at night but it's been great during the daytime. Again, this is just a personal preference. Some may also get annoyed by the green light during night which wasn't an issue for me though. After having researched many chargers, this one seemed to be the best fit and it has exceeded my expectations. It charges as fast as my wired lightning charger. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it.

It says it comes with all the season 1 characters
By StKnuckle
My kids like the game so I purchased it for them... box says it comes with all season one characters... They only have access to one dude... either something is wrong or it's harder than it needs to be to figure out.

Install them manually!
March 24, 2015
It does come with all Season 1 characters. A lot of people have had this problem of not getting them all. Luckily I didn't. You can manually install the characters if your console didn't do it for you. Once the disc is inside the console, go the box where a "white" disc is displayed. This box shows the disc currently inside the console. Hit the menu button and then go to "manage bundle" option. You can then install all Season 1 characters from there on. Hopefully this will solve your issue. I'm still surprised how it installed automatically for me!

I have no idea what this product is. They placed it by registers and my 4 year old saw it and wanted it. Thanks best buy for putting useless toys by the register.

There's a reason why they keep them there and fortunately for them, you were the victim. Great review though. Made me laugh :)
