Great Detector Loaded with Technology Niceties

I’ve had experience with Escort Radar’s products in past vehicles, so I immediately knew that this would be a great addition to my vehicle since I’ve recently begun a longer commute to a new job. Seeing that this is a connected device sealed the deal. There are several product features that I appreciate:
• Great range – alerts come well in advance of them being a threat.
• Automatically filters out non-threats – when you’ve driven a route a few times, the detector will “learn” what sources are non-threatening.
• Crowd-Sourced Alerts – using the app on a smartphone, the detector shares alerts to the cloud so that detectors of other users of the app will get that information in advance of it becoming a threat to them.
• Connected Detector – the detector looks for new database information for stationary(ish) threats such as red-light cameras, popular radar van locations, etc. Also, using the app you can update the firmware of the detector as new revisions are released.
• Directional Location of Threats – arrows on the connector will point the general direction of the current threat.
The detector comes with a carrying case, Escort Radar’s SmartCord that allows muting and other functions directly from the power plug side of the cable, and a really nice mount that uses a vacuum attachment to the windshield and a beefy magnetic attachment to the detector.

Beautiful aesthetics, nicely equipped laptop!

This is a beautiful effort from Dell using Intel's 12th Generation Core i7-12700H processor, Intel WiFi 6, 16 GB of 4800 MHz DDR5, a very capable NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics solution driving a 15.6" 1920 x 1200 WUXGA display, and a 512 GB NVMe SSD boot drive. Intel's 12th generation architecture is a pretty radical departure from previous x86 processors, as it supports "Performance" cores and Efficient" cores. This particular Core i7-12700H process boasts 6 Performance cores and 8 Efficient cores. Efficient just means they are low-power cores, and accordingly they are lower performance than the "Performance" cores. Fortunately all of the task allocation to processor cores is transparent in Windows 11, so one less thing to worry about. To sum it all up... this laptop has great specs out of the box!
Performance is rock-solid, as you would expect from Intel's flagship platform architecture surrounded by a solid configuration of memory, graphics, display, and SSD. I would say that the performance would rival many desktops, but that's my semi-educated opinion.
There are only two things I can think of that I'd do differently: (1) add touch screen; and (2) going with Windows 11 Professional. Those are nits in the grand scheme of things, however, and not a ding on the laptop.
As with any PC, you want to ensure you are running the latest BIOS and drivers. Dell Command is a downloadable utility from the Dell website that you'll want to download. Run it every month or so, and it will help automate the updating of your Dell laptop and keep you up-to-date.

As noted, this is really easy to assemble. In 15 minutes, the box was opened, the product assembled, the app downloaded and running, and my unit was connected and ready to go! Given it was all set, I took the opportunity to use it on a section of carpet that gets a lot of use from our three miniature long-haired Dachshunds. The first observation is that vacuuming prior to carpet cleaning is a must. Carpet cleaners are designed to vacuum water, not wet hair from our fur babies. Noted for next time. All that said, the job that the cleaner did was excellent. The carpet was clean, and the carpet was left damp but not overly wet.
A few observations and thoughts. The cleaner comes with two bottles of concentrate for cleaning. Two small capfuls added to the fresh water container is all that's needed. The fresh water container is a bit small. I cleaned only about half of the room, making a couple of passes over the areas most used, and ran out of water right as I completed the cleaning. Great timing! Like all design aspects of a product, a larger fresh water container would make the product heavier, so I'll take this lightweight, easy to maneuver product any day over a heavier product.
After cleaning, I didn't see the app update to reflect the cleaning that I did. Either I didn't do something right, or perhaps the next time I connect I'll see the cleaning time and cleaning cycle updated in the app.
I definitely would recommend this product. It's light weight and maneuverability won me over from our previous carpet cleaner hands down.

Overall, this is an absolutely beautiful product. Industrial design is really nice on this product. It's not very tall, which is what I was looking for. The top surface lifts to expose a charging surface for your Apple Earbuds. Note that this surface (by my experience at least) will NOT charge an Apple Watch. And in fairness to the product, there are no claims that it will - it was just my hope that I might be able to get a little side benefit from the product by charging my watch at night.

Finally. A robot vacuum you can rely on to get the job done. The Roomba j7 robot vacuum packs 10x the power-lifting suction and comes with unique intelligence to avoid cords and pet waste. It even understands times when you’re home and seasons when more cleaning may be needed. Compared to the Roomba 600 series cleaning system.

My previous product was an i7+, and iRobot has made some significant improvements with the j7. First off, I have the model without the automatic dirt disposal, and I'm going to buy that add-on as soon as they become available. It's worth every penny you'll spend for it. Without it, you are condemned to empty the dust bin at least once during your vacuuming session (depending on the amount of dirt, dust, and pet hair on your floors - your mileage may vary).
One new addition to the j7 is the addition of a camera on the front, which is used for recognition of position within a cleaning area as well as for things on the floor that it should avoid. I have not yet completed the training run(s) yet, so my initial cleaning session was a little frustrating as it ran over our puppy pads and got stuck on them. My fault, as I should have run the mapping first, and excluded that area via the app.
The j7 cleaning is definitely better than that provided by the i7. Most dust and pet hair is removed. Also, the cleaning pattern seems to be more natural... less wandering through the room in a seemingly random fashion. The j7 seems more focused on getting the job done efficiently.
One of the "cutesy" items iRobot is touting for the j7 family is the Pet Owner Official Promise. It's an acronym, and yes, that acronym is "POOP". Essentially the promise is that pet owners can banish their anxiety that their Roomba may smear pet poo all over their carpet (and within the inner workings of your vacuum). The runtime of my j7 is greater than the i7+. Whether that is because my i7+ is 3 years old, and the battery has lost capacity, I can't say. I can say that I can clean the entire lower level of our home without a recharge between job start and job finish. A win is a win.
Like the i7, controlling things with the app will make your life simpler. There is also Google Home and Alexa integration, although I haven't taken things that far and probably won't.
I can't think of other things to mention, other than for a current price point of $499.99 for the j7 and $699.99 for the j7+, this is an incredible value for those of us who spent WAY more than that for the i7+.
Buy it, train it, and forget it. Forget the manual cleaning of your home floors, that is.

Beautiful design and great functionality

This is my second Nest (Google) doorbell. The first was wired, but the wireless appealed to me. The doorbell _can_ be wired, but it has a sufficiently large battery inside to get the job done. My first Nest doorbell was added via the Nest app, but this doorbell must be added via the Google Home app. This means you'll need to have (or create) a Google account.
Thus far, I've added my doorbell to my home in the Google Home app, and have fully charged it. I've also played around with it a bit to make sure the basic functionality is as expected, and of course it is. Camera resolution is 960p, kind of an odd resolution, but the quality of the video is excellent. Next step is to 3D print a bracket to match my home's cedar siding angles so that the doorbell is oriented properly and I get the "just right" angle. Yes, I know that is not necessary, but I'm a bit on the OCD side so...

This is truly a winning design for Dell. While this is a high-performance laptop, it is small (for a 15" screen) and light. Sporting an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, a 1TB NVMe SSD from WD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics solution, the performance is absolutely stellar for a laptop. The screen, a 15.6" 16:10 OLED touch screen providing 5 percent more area than others, is stunning - the clarity and brightness... well, you'd have to see it to appreciate it.
If you need a capable, high-performance laptop minus the usual weight penalty associated with high-performance laptops, you should check out this option from Dell.

The pros of this product would be good battery life and light weight. The display really "pops" with nice colors, and looks large for a 14" display. There's a clever feature where - when using the keyboard in a tradition laptop mode - the bottom of the display serves to lift the front of the keyboard for better ergonomics. There's a unified "key" that serves both as the fingerprint reader as well as the power button.
The cons include performance limitations given the small form-factor. I'm accustomed to my home PC, which is based on an 11th Generation Intel processor, a lot of DDR4 memory, and a PCIe4 NVMe drive, so the comparison isn't necessarily a fair one. Like most smaller form-factor devices, getting enough information on the display can be challenging, but that's the nature of a smaller device. Lastly, I have dry hands, and I've yet to have a good experience with fingerprint readers. This is no exception - my fingers are hit or miss on the reader.
All in all, for the money this is a good deal, providing reasonable performance and solid features.

I admit that I've tried electric shavers throughout my adult life, but never found one that I stuck with. I couldn't get the close shave that a traditional razor provides. I wish I could say this razor was different, but it doesn't shave as close as a traditional razor. HOWEVER, I get a reasonable shave with a quiet razor, which is nice. I've taken to using is while at home in that mornings because of that, and because my shave is quicker. I like this razor, just be aware of my "close shave" comments if you're like me.

You may have sworn off screen protectors due to the issue of bubbles being trapped underneath, etc., but this one is different and worth your time and money. It isn't just a screen protector that you get, but also a complete installation system that matches your phone's physical size and aligns the screen protector with your phone's screen. When I applied my screen protector to the iPhone 12 Pro Max's screen, I noticed a few bubbles and was concerned. There is what I'll term a "squeegee" included for working out any air bubbles, and it got the worst of them out but there were still some small ones. I got sidetracked from this project, but when I checked out my phone the next day, those bubbles were gone. Completely gone. I did end up with one piece of tiny grit under the screen protector, but that was on me for not ensuring I had a clean work surface for the application.
The screen itself has a bit of a blue tinge to it, and apparently attenuates the blue component of the lighting of the screen. It does make a pronounced difference in the look of the phone's screen.

I have a very strong wifi network password: made up of several words and spaces, etc. During the setup process it told me it did not support such passwords.
Now, this is not unusual. It is standard WPA2, and I have many devices (computers, phone, printers, etc) that can handle the password just fine.
Thus the WeMo is useless.

New firmware

I just bought a WeMo outlet today, and was concerned that I would have problems with my WPA2/AES encryption. I was able to connect initially, but couldn't power the outlet on or off via my iPhone. After a few minutes, the iPhone application indicated that there was a new firmware update, which I applied and now the device works correctly. Not sure this will address your issue, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I bought this product thinking it would make timer settings and remote control of my light easy, but the iOS app was hard to use for scheduling and the connection was always a hit and miss, not reliable at all. I returned the product after using it for a week. I will wait for future releases.

Hi Whacknut, IFTTT will likely do what you want to do. Check out http://www.ifttt.com. I'm using it in conjunction with my WeMo Switches to turn heaters on and off on my boat when the marina temperature gets near freezing. It's a pretty slick tool.

I am an experienced and careful drone operator on typhoon and Dji models. Once it flew away on its own, unobstructed at an altitude of 160' only 9 minutes into a new battery over park land and lakes. Needless to say, I can't recommend this drone with the per flight cost I had! It was only 3 days old. Once it flew away, I went online and was floored by the number of DJI Drone owners with the same experience. I would have reconsidered buying such a new release.
Without a crashed drone I have no recourse. Nothing. I'm out $1500.

I'm a P3P owner, and have not experienced this personally, but reports on the Facebook "DJI Phantom 3 Owners Group" have owner reports of this happening. It isn't common, but it does happen for some unexplained reason...

I'll start with the design. In typical HP fashion, the aesthetics really hit the mark for me. The Ash Silver aluminum frame is complemented by Gold (colored) trim.
The display is a 3000 x 2000 IPS panel with touchscreen (and a pen for good measure). Screen sharpness and intensity is very appealing to my eye, at least. The backlit keyboard attaches with magnets, and has a nice retention feel. It folds nicely and makes for a "laptop-like" look, or may be detached and used solely as a tablet.
Internal I/O is headlined by a PCI Express 3.0 SSD (aka NVM Express), which makes overall system performance really pop. This drive is approximately 3x the speed of standard SATA III SSDs, and the latency is much lower with NVMe. There are two USB 3.1 Type C ports, a headphone/mic jack, and a micro-SD slot for external I/O. Bluetooth and integrated WiFi are also included as part of the overall I/O.
Battery life is pretty reasonable given the attractive form-factor, yielding about 8 hours of use from a full charge.
This is a solidly designed product, typical of HP design standards, and given its performance should serve me well for a few years to come.

To the best of my knowledge, this is not a replaceable battery. It's a lithium ion battery that is internal to the doorbell and should be good for thousands of charge/discharge cycles.

Is a longer Connect Box Cable available
No. I believe the cable that comes with the set is 9', which worked well for me, but my television and supporting components are located close to one another.

What is the max load it will handle? Can it control a window air conditioner (120 V, 12 Amps)
This is a great question that I have not been able to get an answer for. However, from an engineering perspective, we could deduce that since the outlet plugs into a 120VAC 15A-capable outlet, it should be able to handle that same level of current output. So if I were a betting man, I'd say it should support your application.

Does this require a monthly service fee?
Short answer: no. In your home, the device connects to your WiFi. However, you can also sign up for an IFFFT account and control your device from the cloud using a myriad of internet-based data. That account is also free, and one of the reasons I bought the device since it will be located far away from my home.

does it support 220-240v
does this wemo support devices which wok on 220-240v
The outlet is designed to plug into a three-pronged 120VAC 15A style outlet. Its electronics are also powered off the outlet it plugs into, so I don't think I'd try powering off a 220/240VAC source.
