TWENTY, commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash, is their best album in years. Johnny Van Zant has truly come into his own here, writing lyrics that are both inspirational AND cautionary, making it essential listening for anyone trying to keep themselves looking well in all ways for someone for whom they have feelings. There's also a strong social conscience here, showing that the band has learned a lot about the world around them. Overall, TWENTY is the sound of a group of mature musicians expressing their emotions regarding what they like and dislike about the world around them in very down-to-earth terms.

The Outlaws, with their unique blend of harmony-heavy country-rock and jam-powered Southern rock putting them at the crossroads of Southern rock and traditional country, are the best band of all time, and this is the best summary of their best work. Blending sweet, rich vocal harmonies with an Allmans/Skynyrd-style guitar attack, the Outlaws influenced everyone from modern country performers to latter-day jam bands to hard rock and heavy metal artists. There are so many details here that you NEVER pick up everything, no matter how many times you listen to it. I listen to this album in one form or another when traveling on long trips, and it makes the time pass that much faster. Unique to this band is a vocal blend of two baritones and one high tenor, which is the reverse of how most bands do it, but more typical of how adult male voices truly sound than the way most rock vocal groups sing. All of the grunge, alternative, punk, and metal bands are this intense only in their dreams.

Once again blending sweet vocal harmonies with an Allmans/Skynyrd-style guitar attack, the Outlaws add an air of cautionary tension to their third album by starting off with the Henry Paul/Monte Yoho composition "Gunsmoke" and ending with "Man Of The Hour", which, along with "So Afraid" and the title track, are among the most foreboding songs in 70s rock. Anyone who's just promised a person they like that they'll do whatever's necessary to look good for them in all ways would do well to heed the message of these four tracks. Also noteworthy is the uptempo love song "Heavenly Blues", written and sung by Henry Paul. Overall, this is one of the best Outlaws CDs ever.

The Outlaws' self-titled debut album is the best example of their unique blend of harmony-heavy country-rock and jam-powered Southern rock, placing them at the crossroads of Southern rock and traditional country. Blending sweet vocal harmonies with an Allmans/Skynyrd-style guitar attack, the Outlaws influenced everyone from modern country stars to latter-day jam bands to even some hard rock and heavy metal artists. All of the grunge, alternative, punk, and metal bands of the 80s and 90s are this truly intense only in their dreams.
5 CLASSIC ALBUMS is a great collection of five classic albums by Sheryl Crow. The first two, TUESDAY NIGHT MUSIC CLUB and THE GLOBE SESSIONS, show her struggling to find a direction, but on C'MON C'MON, she achieves her calling as a Marshall Tucker/Outlaws-inspired roots-rocker, which she continues on WILDFLOWER and DETOURS.

STRANGER IN TOWN is one of the best albums Bob Seger ever did. All of the songs are great, and the playing and singing are top-notch. Buy this one along with NIGHT MOVES, LIVE BULLET, and BEAUTIFUL LOSER.
BOOK OF DREAMS is the best album the Steve Miller Band ever did. The songs are all top-notch, and they show Miller's gift of making familiar influences sound fresh at its best. This, along with FLY LIKE AN EAGLE, is one of the first Steve Miller Band albums you should buy.
GREATEST HITS is a great, concise package of Tom Petty's biggest singles of the 70s through the early 90s. However, there are a lot of great album tracks missing. Still, in an economic pinch, this will do.

SHOUT! is a great new Gov't. Mule album which features one disc performed exclusively by the band plus a bonus disc of the same songs with guest vocalists. This album is one of the most experimental things the band has done, and is highly recommended for any fan of good-quality rock music.
The ultraportable iPod nano features a 2.5-inch Multi-Touch display that's great for browsing your music, photos, and videos. And it has built-in Bluetooth technology, FM radio, Nike+ support, and a pedometer.
The 16GB iPod Nano is great. I have room for lots of great music on it, and it also includes a clock and an FM radio. Moreover, the sound quality is so good that it actually sounds better at a lower volume. However, because it has a touch screen, it takes a few tries to learn how to use it, but once I did, it was very easy. Also, I had to get a special adapter to use it on docking stations. Overall, though, it's great.
