A worthwhile game

Here's the deal: I have loved modern warfare ever since the first one. Although I am a bit frustrated that they didn't update the graphics or do anything new I am still happy to be playing this game. The campaign is the best the series has had(it is tough to follow). The multiplayer is fantastic and sec ops is a blast. Even if they didn't do much with the graphics the game still looks fantastic. The campaign really highlights that. If you have enjoyed the past entries in the series youll still enjoy this one.
What's great about it: intense campaign, still a great multiplayer experience
What's not so great: not much has changed from the second, story is tough to follow
I would recommend this to a friend!

A destructible playground

Battlefield 3 is one of those games that you can pretty much do anything you want to. Run n Gun, hop in a tank, a jet, or one of the other death vehicles in the game. the size of each map is very impressive and exploring them is vital and fun. The campaign bored me and is a rip off of the black ops story. Still, the multiplayer is why you buy this game and it is fantastic. The rewards you recieve for gaining xp are awesome and many. I am not a big fan of the massive levels where snipers can just sit and make a match a living heck(for appropriate reasons) , but i am still very impressed with what this game has to offer. I'll still be playing mw3 more though.
What's great about it: fun multiplayer, lots of rewards, a lot of gameplay options, beautiful visuals
What's not so great: snipers, occasional connection problems, a bit of a learning curve

A shaky start to a great series

I bought assassins creed the day it came out. I was excited to play another stealth action game that were fairly limited at the time. To put it simply, I was very let down by assassins creed. It was incredibly easy due to the idiotic enemies that attacked you and died one by one(wait for one to attack, counter, instant kill, repeat). It was incredibly repetitive as well. Every assassination boiled down to the same step by step formula EVERY single time and the steps were boring(sit on a bench for 5 minutes and listen to uninteresting info. Seriously?) I could only bear going through a few of these cycle before I just got bored to tears. That's not to say that the game didn't have anything going for it. The sound was great and the visuals were very well done. The world was pretty and big. And the story was unique. I just couldn't get past the AI and the repetitiveness. Fortunately, the developers listened to complaints similar to mine and made the necessary changes to release a fantastic sequel.
What's great about it: looks great, good ideas
What's not so great: extremely repetitive, horrible AI

One scary game!

As a horror game fan i was a bit excited for condemned to come out. A first person horror game where guns were rare and lead pipes and the such were the common weapon types. I was expecting an intense game. The game definetly delivered on the intensity. The story is great for a game like this. You're a cop chasing down a twisted mass murderer. Walking through one of the handful of creepy environments with nothing but a lead pipe or one of the many other melee weapons in the game is intense and often times just down right frightening. The combat system is simple but works and is fun. It mainly boils down to blocking and then striking while your opponent is dazed but the fights are fun and intense especially when there are multiple enemies. It then becomes unpredictable when you make another enemy hit another and they begin fighting each other. The game is short, however. And, even though the game doesn't look bad it deffinetly isn't a visually strong game. It is one of the early games of the xbox 360. I don't get scared easily in videogames, but the last few levels of this game made me turn on the lights and contemplate waiting until morning to play. I wouldn't recommend this game to everyone but if your a survival horror fan then I would definetly give this game a look. Especially considering the price.
What's great about it: intense and unpredictable combat, genuinely creepy, great level design
What's not so great: short campaign, no multiplayer,

As a fugitive, such skills as stealth, quick thinking and adaptability are essential to your survival. You exist out of sight, in an underground world populated by others who have their own reasons for sticking to the shadows. To evade and pursue your enemies, you must remain hyper vigilant. One false move could mean your end. But play your cards right, and it might just be your enemies who end up paying the ultimate price. In Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, you'll inhabit a world in which your environment is your primary weapon. Be ready to adapt your strategy on the fly to make use of the environments and crowds around you. Amass a network of underground allies to aid you in your quest and to provide you with crucial high-tech gadgets. Different but still very fun

I recently completed the singleplayer campaign to Conviction.
This is the most unique splinter cell of them all. It's unique mainly in that this one takes all the protocol that restricted Fisher in past games and throws it out the window.
You see, after the death of his friend Lambert and his daughter he pretty much hits rock bottom. As the game starts out you find out that 3rd Echelon, the company that Fisher worked for in past games, is now hunting Fisher and trying to kill him.
Now that Fisher no longer plays by 3rd Echelon rules he can now use his abilities the way he(or you) wants to. That also means that he doesn't have the full inventory of past games, but you still get to use a handful that aid you throughout the game. This is what makes this splinter cell one of the most thrilling of them for me to play. Being able to sneak around the shadows and take down any enemy any way I want makes me feel more like a hunter than an agent. The gameplay mechanics work extremely well and very rarely had any problems with them. The game brings everything together and it is very fun to play.
The story is my favorite of the games as well. The story delves more into the deaths of both his friend Lambert and his daughter. Everything is tied up and it is satisfying.
The visuals are great as well. Im not going to say that this is the best looking game around but it definitely is the best looking splinter cell game. Nothing to complain bout there.
I guess the only complaints I have about the game will only depend on the player.
The game is pretty dang short. I completed the game in 2 days. I think my time was from 8 to 9 hours. It was entertaining throughout the game, but I wanted there to be more.
The other thing I didn't like was how often the f word was used throughout the game. It's not like i hear the f word and Im immediately offended, but when it's extremely overused in unnecessary situations it starts to get old really fast. Throughout the game the enemies would scream it what seemed like every other word. Again, these will just be viewed differently by different people.
I guess that's all I have for the game. I would recommend this game to stealth/action fans and fans of the splinter cell games. It might be different, but definitely worth playing.
What's great about it: new abilities are great additions, looks great, nice twist on the formula to make the game feel fresh
What's not so great: excessive strong language throughout, campaign is short

It's Batman. Buy it!

When I heard about Arkham City I was wondering how they were going to pull it off in a big city setting. I don't know why now but I was wondering if it would be as good of an experience as the first.
Now that I have beaten the game I can honestly say that this is the best batman game. That's not saying much so I will say also that this is the best super hero game of all time. That's saying a bit more.
I loved the first one so I immediately got into Arkham City. I will say that this is pretty much Asylum but set in the city. I am not saying that in a bad way at all. Why would you want to drastically change something that worked so well.
There is a lot that is the same but that doesn't mean there aren't improvements. The combat has been enhanced and now flows smoother than the already incredible combat. Also batman has a few new gadgets that enhance the game set in a big city setting.
Cat woman is also a playable character. I was a bit nervous about playing her character at first but I soon was loving whipping around the city and pouncing on unsuspecting inmates.
The visuals are fantastic as well. Being in a big city I was worried about glitches and pop in issues. Despite the minor glitches that do tend to happen, I was very impressed how smoothly the game ran. I rarely saw any texture pop in and the game never slows down. Everything looks amazing.
The story is awesome as well and it includes many different villains. I was happy to see that there were many sidequests that incorporated another handfull of villains as well. I definetly felt rewarded for journeying outside of the main storyline to tackle other things. To round it all off the voices for everyone is done extremely well. This is some of the most convincing work I have heard. It's great.
The only gripes I have with the game are with the story and with the length of the game. Since it is set in a city I was hoping for a bit of a lengthier story. I beat it in around 25 hrs and thats with completing the sidequests and collecting a little more than half of the riddler trophies. The story was great and ended really well. I just felt like I wanted to tackle more missions after everything was said and done.
I would still recommend this game to anyone. It's a Batman game for crying out loud!
What's great about it: transition to the city is flawless, fantastic visials, amazing voice acting, it's never been so fun and cool to be batma
What's not so great: a little too short in my opinion

Lurch ahead to a not-so-distant, but incredibly unsettling future — a future where everyday people are morphed into super-enhanced beings; a future where dark secrets lurk beneath the veins of America; a future that might just be leading to something even worse. Adam Jensen thought he was working for the good guys. Handpicked to protect an advanced biotechnological firm, he was designing plans to keep top scientists safe. He was helping his country, or so he thought. But now, a black ops team has burst into the firm, massacred the scientists and initiated a dark plot — using the very plans he designed. With a weary world now teetering on the edge of a sinister conspiracy that threatens to twist the evolution of the human race, Adam Jensen is the only person who can uncover the plot and stop a Revolution before it's too late.Deus Ex: Human Revolution transports you to the turning point of the human venture — the time and place just before the chilling events of Deus Ex — and gives you the power to decide the outcome as you become Adam Jensen. Plunge into an eerily majestic future where Renaissance elements meld with futuristic technology in mind-blowing images as you travel around the globe on an international caper. Rich and deeply imagined RPG immersion combines with realistic first-person combat to drag you into the future as you battle the thugs, special operations soldiers and robots who threaten your journey — and your life. An arsenal of more than 20 weapons and opportunities to enhance your character empower your struggle, but beware — every decision you make has consequences that affect the entire human race. Will you stop the conspiracy, or will a grim Revolution forever change the world as we know it?

From a long time Deus Ex fan
on June 17, 2012
Posted by: ClintCommander
from UT
I have been a fan of Deus Ex since the first game came out. Even playing it 5 years ago I still loved it and the originality it still had. The second was was great as well. I was way excited to hear that this new one was coming out. The bottom line is: if you are a fan of Deus Ex this is a no brainer. If you haven't played one before then this is a great one to pick up since it is the prequel to all of them.
I dont think this game is perfect but I loved so much more than what I didn't.
The story in Deus Ex is great. You are a manager of security for a company that makes augmentations for the human body: Sarif Industries. In the first few moments of the game the building is attacked and your character, Adam Jensen, is mortally wounded. He is forced to undergo augmentation surgery to survive. After returning you are sent out to find out who attacked the company and why.
The story will keep you guessing and the influence you have to change the outcome is awesome. Through conversations you have with NPCs throughout the entire game you will have to make difficult decisions. I can't really say more without spoiling anything but how you affect the story is great.
The game plays out like a first-person shooter/RPG hybrid. The rpg elements are lighter compared to the action which fits the game perfectly in my opinion.
You are given a lot of freedom in how you tackle a mission. The augments you have can be upgraded to fit your playstyle. If you want to be a stealthy killing machine then upgrade the augs that allow you to turn invisible and walk and run more silently. If you want to be an in your face killing machine then upgrade your armor and weapon abilites. If you want to play somewhere in between ,like me, then do that. The game is very flexible.
The game's visuals are pretty good as well, but its my biggest complaint I have with the game. There are many things that look great in the game but the NPCs are not one of those. Many of them look like they were from the original ps2. The civilians you talk to are not very well animated either. Thankfully, however, the main character had a little more attention paid to him and has a lot of detail. The enemies in the game are animated very realistically as well. The cities and environments look good overall but some of them are a bit condensed and hard to navigate through. Minor complaints.
If youre looking for multiplayer then you aren't going to find it here. The game is pretty lengthy, however. I think I beat it in around 30-35hours. Unless your interested in going back and playing the game a different way or to see how different decisions affect the outcome, this one might just be an awesome rental.
Overall I think this is my favorite deus ex. Everything is very organized in the game and it just feels like a very cohesive experience. Its a unique game and I recommend you give it a try.
What's great about it: great story, you choose how to play, good level design, feels like a deus ex game
What's not so great: no multiplayer, some aspects of the visuals look dated, some environments hard to navigate through, lame boss battles

A good addition to the Fallout universe

I love fallout and always will. Fallout 3 will always be in my mind as one of the greatest games of all time. I sunk hours and hours into the game and its dlc. I was so excited to hear about New Vegas. More Fallout? Count me in.
As I began playing it I felt right at home. The game played just how I remembered it should. I enjoyed the thought of exploring and new location and tackling more awesome quests. I loved the new additions to the game as well like the greatly improved buddy system and the variety of ammo types you can put in your weapons.
Unfortunately, how it's so familiar to its predecessor is also its greatest weakness. It felt too much like a giant expansion pack for me. After playing the game for quite a few hours I started feeling like I had played the game before. The game still looks the same. Thats not a bad thing at all until you start running into the same glitches and bugs that the 3rd had. There is still very stiff animations, slowdown, game lock ups and whatnot. There werent any quest breaking bugs that occurred in my playthrough but the game just locking up on me made me too paranoid about saving the game and keeping a ton of them. I guess I was just a little disappointed that nothing was really done to correct these issues or improve the visuals overall.
Other than that, however, the game is still a joy to play. The story is great and the quests are fun. The improved buddy system I mentioned is probably my favorite addition to fallout. Your companion is usually very competent when it comes to slaying your enemies and the best part is is that you reap the xp rewards whenever your companion kills something. It makes it very much worthwhile to tag along with someone else and if you happen to find a dog in the world you can have the dog and your companion as well. Theres a lot of killing to go around.
The bottom line is if you enjoyed playing fallout 3 then definitely give this one a shot. You'll have a great time with this one if you can still look past the abundant unfixed technical flaws from fallout 3. If you didn't like fallout 3 then, first off, shame on you and this one will not convert you
What's great about it: more fallout, new amunition types, great story
What's not so great: lots of bugs and glitches, no updates to visuals, a little bit of a feeling of deja vu

A great sequal!
on June 17, 2012

I just want to get this out of the way. I didn't like the first assassins creed. It was incredibly repetitive and boring to me. After repeating the same play cycle twice I got frustrated with sitting on benches and listening to boring conversations. So much so that I returned the game to get whatever I could out of it.
How surprised I was then to find out how fun the sequel was. Assassins creed 2 is a great example of how a company fixes their mistakes from their first attempt.
This game is exciting and the missions are varied. Yeah, you kill and kill and kill but the ways the game sets you up to do it is awesome. I love that there are different mission varieties as well to keep the game fresh.
The story is great as well. I really enjoyed the combined story of Ezio and Desmond. I was always wanting to know what happened next.
Another big complaint I had about the first game was the stupidity of the enemies. I would just get a huge bounty then wait for a crowd of soldiers to crowd around me. One at a time they would strike at me. I would just counter and immediatley kill them. They just continued to do that until I had killed them all. I didn't find it fun.
In this one however there are many enemy types. Some have heavy armor. Some have spears. Some have knives and are incredibly quick. They still arent all that intelligent but they definitely mix things up a bit and make it a challenge. The combat is also improved and much more fun to utilize in this game.
I did like the visuals in the first game and this one is no different. The massive city you navigate is very detailed and fun to look over from a high perch.
The only small complaint I have is that the game did start to get a little repetitive with some of the missions be a bit too similar but overall it is a very fun game.
If you liked the first game then you will love this sequal. If you didn't like it like me then still give this one a shot. It is a much better game.
What's great about it: fun assassination missions, great side quests, variety of enemy types
What's not so great: gets a little repetitive

Return to Rapture

I heard a lot about Bioshock 2 before actually playing it. The main complaint that kept me from playing it for so long was that it was too much like the original.
Once I actually began playing, however, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had with the game. I had been away from rapture for quite a while and it felt good to be back again.
Adding to the fun is the fact that you are now a big daddy from the first game. Being able to wield a plasmid and a drill at the same time is awesome. The guns in the game are a blast to use still and setting up traps for splicers is as fun and pretty much as necessary as before.
True, this game is a lot like the original. It's the same setting and your fighting the same enemies. What sets this game apart is the story and the context why you are there. Learning about the history of your big daddy character and how you fit in the world is a very interesting topic. The gameplay as a big daddy is also very fun and rewarding. Right off the bat you are charged with finding little sisters to help you harvest adam from specific splicer corpses in rapture. This is helpful because you need adam to upgrade your plasmids to make them stronger.
That sounds easy enough but while the little sisters are harvesting the adam splicers are automatically attracted to it sending them right to your area. This is where setting traps and knowing how to defend yourself really pay off. This is something you'll be doing throughout the whole game while unraveling the story. Thankfully, it never gets old and is always pretty gratifying to see your adam count go up.
The story in this one is also pretty darn good. Its pretty basic but i liked it a lot. I really like how good this game makes you feel every time you decide to do something like save a little sister. If you remember the ending of the first game after saving all the little sisters you'll have a pretty good idea of the feeling it tries to instill in you. The first game's ending is one of my favorites.
Anyways, if you loved the first bioshock and still haven't played this one then you should definitley give it a go. It's a lot of fun and will bring back the good memories you had with the first.
What's great about it: compelling story, fun new abilities, still a very interesting environment to explore
What's not so great: some might find the game a bit too familiar
I would recommend this to a friend!
