This dark and mysterious release from the psychological sci-fi anime series Steins;Gate includes episodes 13-25 of the show, following the hallucinatory and bizarre story of self-described mad scientist Okarin, who discovers the ability to transcend time, which has epic consequences for the people he knows - and everyone else on earth.

"The microwave is a time machine and the girl gets shot. Okarin sends another text. Nukes another banana. The mad scientist meddled with forces he never should have known about. The girl gets run over by a car. Okarin goes back to stop the bleeding. Dashes madly through the dark streets. Races against time. The girl gets hit by a train. Failures and flatlines multiply in a ghastly pattern of repetition. Over and over and over again until sanity is stripped away and you start to notice shapes slipping in and out of the shadows. SERN. The girl gets stabbed before and after the kissing. Okarin grows frantic. Bodies pile up around him. SERN is getting closer. The girl is bleeding. A top secret Future Gadget Lab member from the future is their only hope. The blood sprays and the girl dies. SERN destroyes the world. KILLS ALL THE GIRLS. THERE IS TIME FOR ONE LAST TRY. Now Okarin bleeds but he won't stop. Ever. The microwave is a time machine and the girl always gets shot."
Steins;Gate surpassed all of my expectations with how amazing it truely is. To say that it's good is an understatement and should be a part of every anime lover's collection. Although the description on the main page lists this as the complete collection, the short synopsis/review given does state that it's episodes 13-25, but I don't think it was like that when it first got put on bestbuy.com. I bought this one back in 2012 and just finally got around to watching it this month because I kept pushing off purchasing the first part! So much that I've missed out on with cosplay and at the conventions!
Volume 2 takes a decidely darker and grittier turn for the worse for Okarin and the Lab members. Episode 13 starts off with the death of Mayuri which happens at the end of volume 1. Events continue to spiral in a never-ending pattern as Okarin sends his consciousness back in time to stop the death. But no matter how many times he tries, she always dies whether it's at the hands of SERN or a random accident. Eventually, they discover what needs to happen, but it comes at a terrible cost that Okarin might not be willing to pay.
Such an amazing series with a terriffic ending to it as well. I'd love to throw spoilers out there, but that ruins everything! Steins;Gate was so popular in Japan that it sparked huge sales of Dr. Pepper as it was the drink of choice for Okarin and Kurisu throughout the show. After watching the entire series, I have to go purchase the visual novel and play through it as well. It'll definitely be among the top series out there that I've seen in the past few years.
This mind-bending release from the psych-horror anime series Deadman Wonderland includes all 12 episodes of the show, following the story of a high school boy who is unjustly jailed for the murder of his class in a prison system that fits him with a collar constantly injecting him with poison. The poison can be neutralized if he can take regular doses of the antidote often enough, though these can only be obtained through prison work.

"Ganta is the only survivor after a mysterious man in red slaughters a classroom full of teenagers. He's framed for the carnage, sentenced to die, and locked away in the most twisted prison ever built: Deadman Wonderland. And then it gets worse.
At Deadman Wonderland, convicts are forced into brutal deathmatches for the amusement of the masses, the cheers of the crowd drowning out the screams of the dismembered. Even when Ganta befriends Shiro, an unusual female inmate, his dark fate crushes all hope – until he discovers the strange ability to wield his spilled blood as a weapon. Ganta learns his new skill might be related to the murderous man in red and uncovers disturbing secrets that could expose those who stole his freedom. He's determined to see justice served – but first he'll have to fight for his life in a prison that holds a million ways to die."
Deadman Wonderland is a decent series that gained attention in America after Cartoon Network aired it on the Toonami animation block when it was reincarnated back in 2012. I caught the first 2 episodes, but never got around to watching the rest. The series is filled to the brim with blood, gore, and action. The English dialogue is pretty racy as well. It does an excellent job with the shock factor. You just know someone is about to die, but it can be a little hard to predict how it's going to happen. Sadly, the series is quite rushed and a ton of knowledge is never made known. There also isn't really a true ending. Red Man remains a mystery, sort of. What relation does Shiro and Ganta have? Don't want to spoil any of the ending, but it pops up just as many questions and doesn't really answer anything. It leave tons of room for a 2nd season, but I haven't seen anything in the works, yet.
I enjoyed the series overall even with the rushed ending and lingering questions. My brother was also a fan and admitted that he was a little confused with the entire thing. This is a great value on a pretty good series. Pick it up!
Hope's Peak Academy. For the desperately average teenager, it seems like a shining, exalted house of education, full of prestige, allure and only the most gifted students. It certainly seemed to be beyond reach to Makoto Naegi. But when he unexpectedly finds himself accepted for admission, he thought that perhaps he wasn't so average after all. When he arrives and becomes trapped with the other students in a prison made by a nefarious mastermind, he is presented with the opportunity to prove himself exceptional once and for all. Unmask the villain, uncover the secret of the school — or die trying. Only the most gifted will survive. The students are murdering each other one by one and life in the school-turned-prison is growing deadlier by the day. You may be trapped, but you can still fight to unravel the mystery. Investigate each incident, talk to your classmates, search for clues and more — whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this shrouded case. Your only hope is to sway classmates to your side and squeeze every bit of information out of them to figure out the culprit. The dastardly Monokuma serves as judge, jury and executioner, so you'll need your wit to win — engage in fast-paced wordplay, fire words back at your opponents to expose their lies, dissect each and every statement and more in a variety of timing and reflex-based game systems. The only chance you have of saving your own skin is to uncover the truth. Do you have what it takes?

Danganronpa is a title out of Japan that places you in the role of Makoto Naegi who has been deemed the "Ultimate Lucky Student" because he won a national lottery to attend Hopes Peak Academy; a super prestigious high school that only the most elite or ultimate students can attend. You're one of 15 students that have been accepted into this year's class. However, upon entering the school, you fall unconscious and wake up alone in a classroom. Returning to the school's lobby, you meet up with the other students and find yourselves barricaded inside by a massive steel door, huge metal plates on the windows, and all of the exits barred or locked. Your life at Hopes Peak is now one of despair! To make matters worse, the only way to escape will result in the deaths of all your classmates.
Nothing like a good murder mystery game to get you enthralled for hours on end. The game has multiple aspects that just keep you playing over and over; waiting to see what comes next. The murders become more and more intricate and deceptive as the student body quickly dwindles. What might seem like an open and shut case turns into a trail of lies and deception. I won't give any spoilers, but I ended up looking at some guides for the chapter 5 trial when a certain option is asked.
As the first reviewer mentioned, there are multiple other formats/games to this series. Funimation has licensed the anime series, but it's still for streaming only at the moment. We've also got the 2nd game coming out later this year on the Vita. I doubt we'll ever get the light novels or manga licensed over here, but there are plenty of scanlation sites to read those from.
Danganronpa... the title is hard enough to say with a straight face. I can guarantee that you won't play though the game with a straight face, too! Aside from the adult oriented visual novels brought over by JAST USA and fan translations, it's extremely rare to get a VNs in North America. As a forewarning, don't buy this one if you don't like to read. VNs are steeped in loads of reading/listening and are not fast-paced. This is my first game for the Vita and I couldn't be happier!

Kalafina is a group that's been around for the past 7 years. The group was started by Yuki Kajiura and members of her FictionJunction band. If you're familiar with anime, then you've undoubtedly heard plenty of their works. The best examples come from the amazing .hack//sign, Tsubasa Chronicles, and Noir soundtracks. More recently, they've contributed to some of the biggest anime series out there like Black Butler, Garden of Sinners, Fate/Zero, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This album contains multiple tracks from Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji and Madoka Magica. Here's the track listings:
1. EDEN 2. SANDPIPER 3. MAGIA 4. KU GATSU 5. IN YOUR EYES 6. DESTINATION UNKNOWN 7. NEVERENDING 8. KOTONOHA 9. MAGNOLIA 10. KAGAYAKU SORA NO SHIJIMA NI HA 11. MUNE NO YUKUE 12. SNOW FALLING 13. SYMPHONIA
Magia and Destination Unknown are my favorites off of this album with Snow Falling and Symphonia being just as amazing. I was really hoping that To the Beginning from Fate/Zero would be on here, but I have to buy a separate album for that one :/ Also, Kalafina is also singing the opening/ending themes for the new series Aldnoah Zero. Should definitely check them all out!

"HE's seeking a long and lasting relationship. Unfortunately, one of THEM is already related! Is insanity hereditary? Shougo Mikadono's beginning to think so, because the terms of his late father's will seem crazy and following them may drive Shougo bonkers as well. Oh, it shounds simple at first: before Shougo can claim his VERY large inheritance, he just has to start attending a certain new school and find a nice girl to marry. It's a little unromantic, but perfectly do-able, right? After all, all the girls seem quite friendly, so all Shougo has to do is find one he has something in common with. Except, and here's the kicker, it turns out that Shougo has WAY too much in common with one of them, because she's actually his long lost sister! And he has no idea which one she is! Will shougo meet and court his Miss Right without committing something very morally wrong? Can he find his future bride without slipping into the wrong set of genes? And if his little sister does reveal herself, just how much will be revealed and under what circumstances? Find out as family planning takes on a whole new meaning in NAKAIMO - My Little Sister is Among Them!"
Oh great, it's another of THOSE anime series! I kind of thought this at first, but I actually enjoyed Nakaimo a lot. It's filled to the brim with fanservices and naughty bits, but it's actually got a pretty solid story around it. Shougo is truely concerned about making sure that he doesn't end up in bed with whoever might be his sister which leads to a lot of frustration on his part. What type of resolve does it take to not lift a finger when two very attractive classmates are topless in the same bed as you!? She just wants the love and attention of family that she hasn't received in years having to hide in the shadows so as to not raise a scandal and cause embarassment to the family and company. And Shougo wants to be there and protect his new family. I pretty much had the sister pegged after 2-3 episodes, but it could have gone another way.
Good storyline, solid graphic even if the backgrounds were pretty lack-luster, and a great Japanese voice cast all lend to this being a memorable series. It always helps when all of the heroines are cute and/or sexy as well. I felt that Sentai did a very subpar job with the English dub, though. I tried to listen, but the voices just didn't match up well with the characters.
Loved the series as a whole. The idea of possible incest turns some people away immediately, but it's all fantasy. I'd score the series as a 5 if not for the large amount of fanservice that it has. We get solo bathtub scenes for each of the ladies for no good reason other than some T&A. Check it out and I think you will love it just as much!

"In Japan, during the reign of Shogun Yoshimune, it is the era of the samurai and the ninja. Many villages are outwardly peaceful, but a twisted perverse underbelly exists that affects more than just the criminals. Kaede and her sister are unfortunately victims of this when the elder is assaulted and commits suicide shortly thereafter. Kaede seeks vengeance, and a lady ninja nun who hears of the events aids her in the search. As they get closer to the truth, lies and secrets are slowly revealed behind a trail of clothing, sweat and blood."
It's hard to really start with this one it's so horrid. The acting is pretty atrocious. The plot starts off pretty standard but devolves into utter stupidity in the 2nd part. I placed it on fast-forward just to say that I had watched it all and to review it. These movies are basically softcore adult entertainment. It lists for 13 and up, but it should be 18 and up. If you want a quick thrill, I recommend looking elsewhere!

"The microwave is a time machine. Okarin proved it. The self-anointed mad scientest nuked bananas into some gelatinous version of the future. Or maybe it was the past. Doesn't matter. No one thought he could do it, but he did it anyway. He sent text messages through time to people he knew. To his friends. Some of them female. Pretty. He should have been more careful. He should have stopped. Tampering with the time-space continuum attracts unwelcome attention. Clandestine organizations of nefarious origins take notice. SERN. Always watching. Okarin knows: he can feel their eyes. That's why he started the top secret Future Gadget Lab. To stop them. You should join. We get to wear lab coats, and it's dangerous. Danger is exciting because it's deadly. The microwave is a time machine."
Steins;Gate is one of those series that you hear tons of stuff about, see tons of cosplay of, and have hopefully already watched! I have now; at least the first part! I remember this series streaming about 2 years ago and people were raving about it left and right, but I didn't have much of a desire to watch it at that point. Then when it came time for the English release, BestBuy didn't have it available at all. They finally do now, but it took forever! Heck, they had the 2nd part in stock and in stores, but not the first.
Steins;Gate is another of those wonferful anime series that started out as a Visual Novel in Japan. Really wish that there were more VNs released in North America, but luckily J-List released a translated version earlier this year! The anime itself is awesomely wonderful. I want to watch it over and over shouting "AWESOME!" every few minutes just to spark the "Everything is Awesome" song from the Lego Movie -_- As the slightly psychotic description implies, it's about time travel and the consequences of it. Okabe/Okarin is the leader of the Future Gadget Club which is attempting to make their own time machine as well as other various gadgets. Once they discover that they've actually managed to alter time in some form or fashion, everything slowly begins to unravel. The smallest change still has giant effects in the future. When SERN takes notice, the fun times soon turn into terror.
It's hard to say anything bad about this series. The story is amazing and well fleshed out. The graphics are top-notch. And the English dub is terrific as well! Overall, Steins;Gate part 1 is a light-hearted, fun comedy up through episode 11. You have some spots of drama when Okabe realizes that he's changed time-lines. However, the proverbial stuff hits the fan in episode 12 which just shatters any sense of peace that the series had maintained. Time to see what Part 2 holds!
This fantastical release from the romantic comedy anime series "Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat includes all 12 episodes of the show, following the story of two socially and emotionally challenged high school students who are each changed by a magical shrine, one so she can never tell the truth, and one so he can never lie.

"Koto is a complete and total pervert, but he doesn't think that's a problem. What bothers him is that every time he tries to bluff his way through one of his indiscretions, his inability to drop his emotionless facade inevitably digs him in even deeper. Tsukiko also has an issue and wants to get rid of her childish habit of blurting out whatever she happens to be thinking. So when they learn about a statue of a cat that can take away a single personality trait that you want to get rid of, they're both eager to try it out. However, what neither of them realizes until it's too late is that the cat doesn't just take the personality trait away from you, it GIVES it to somebody else! Now Koto can't keep himself from saying exactly what's on his mind, while Tsukiko has picked up a complete inabillity to display emotion! Could the solution be finding the original owners of all the assorted problems and arranging an un-swap? And if it is, just how are they going to find everyone? A crazed game of musical personalities encompassing a very surprising cast of characters has only just begun in HENNEKO -- HENTAI PRINCE AND THE STONY CAT!"
Henneko is the abbreviated title for this one. I started reading the manga a good while back but stopped after the end of the Azusa stage. After watching the anime, I'm tempted to go back and catch up with the rest of the manga. The story focuses around Yoto Yokodera and Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi as they seek to be something that they aren't. After abandoning his facade, Yoto finds that he needs it in order to survive or his open perverseness will get him killed. Throughout the story we're also introduced to a few others: Tsukushi Tsutsukakushi, the elder sister and track team caption; Azusa Azuki, and Emi. Emi only plays a small role in the anime while Azusa and the Tsutsu sisters are much more prominent. What none of them realize is that asking wishes of a god isn't a game and can have dire consequences.
First off, I have to blame Sentai for the typo at the beginning of the description. For some reason they messed up and put Koto instead of Yoto for the main character's name. Next, I found this to be a very entertaining series to watch. There weren't any English dubs to listen to, so you do have to read the entire thing unless you're fluent in Japanese. But all of the characters were thoroughly enjoyable and had a bit more depth to them than what you typically find in a 12-episode comedy series. It's especially fun to see the facade around Tsukushi fall and when she admits why she's been pushing Tsukiko away from her. The story follows the typical harem storyline with there being small pushes towards each of the females in the series, but without anyone really coming out on top. Loved the artwork in this series. The character designs are from the Kantoku who is an amazing artist. If you see checkered skirts in anime/manga/doujinshi, it probably came from him!
Would love if there was more to this series, but it did end on a pretty solid note. Was a little scared when it started to pop up the drama at the end, but it all worked out well. Really didn't want a death scene to mar the ending! Check it out and I think you'll love it!
This super slick release from the action-adventure anime series Canaan includes all 13 episodes of the show, telling the story of a woman named Maria, who was once the victim of terrorism, but now works as a member of a superpowered anti-terrorism unit, who have to go up against an evil force that the people of earth have never seen.

"Colors have scent. Sounds possess images. In this future world, where biochemical weapons have changed the game, an unlucky few have their senses blended. They are gifted with abilities beyond what normal humans feel. They possess synesthesia. This makes them the perfect assassin. And a perfect target. Welcome to the new world. Welcome to the war. Head for the promised land -the promised land of amazing animated action. Canaan."
I'm having a bit of a hard time coming up for a review of Canaan. I watched it. I enjoyed the majority of it. But there's really little that I can remember of it :/ The plot isn't that original. In fact, it feels way too similar to Noir. Canaan's parents were killed in a war in the Middle East and she's been raised by a soldier to become an assassin. But, he also raised another young woman/girl in the same role! What a twist, right!? I could already tell how most everything was going to end up just 2-3 episodes in. My review score will drop down to 3 stars if I keep thinking about the plot more -_-
The animation definitely helps to make up a bit for the plot's weaknesses. Visuals on Blu-ray are very detailed whether it's still shots or action scenes. Plenty of blood, explosions, gun-fights, and beauties in glorious HD.
I think part of what was missing with this one is a solid soundtrack. The opening and ending themes by Faylan are plenty good, but there really isn't a captivating musical score to enhance every scene. The graphics for Noir weren't very good, but the music was amazing! The English dub isn't distracting either. Found it to be quite well done.

Ever since the 4th album from Linkin Park, it's hard to predict what direction their CDs will take. It's a good and a bad thing to some. I keep waiting for the day that I'll hear an entire CD that's as good as Hybrid Theory and Meteora were, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that. The Hunting Party is a very solid album even if none of the songs on it are going onto a favorites list of mine. Great beat to each song with multiple sounds and styles.
Always a huge fan of seeing Linkin Park live, so I actually watched and enjoyed the live music videos on the bonus disc. This isn't the old Linkin Park; it's the new one. As long as the band doesn't turn into a soft/alternative band, I'll always be a loyal listener.

I try not to be a grammar-junkie, but I think "saadcitystar" is trying to say that he/she's happy with their remote programming. It sounds like he/she purchased a Harmony remote with RF (radio frequency) instead of IR (infrared) that is capable of sending signals over about a 50' range and can even go through walls, cabinets, etc...
If purchasing a remote programming by itself, the service is $99.99, but if you're having other services done as well (audio setup, wall-mounting, calibration, or networking), the service actually drops down to $59.99.
Album came out back on Tuesday and it arrived on Wednesday. Love the quick shipping here.
Hide and Seek isn't quite the same as previous albums from The Birthday Massacre. Couple of the songs have a little bit darker feeling to them, but the overall sounds took me back to music from the 80's and early 90's. Really loving it.
Wouldn't really say that there's any songs that just jump out at you, but it actually works out good for this CD. Really enjoying every single song so I can just keep the entire thing going on repeat. Would be nice to have a killer hit like "Blue" or "Red Stars" thrown in, but the whole thing more than makes up for it.
There's also a Vinyl version available as well, but you'll have to order that through other means if you want it. Definitely recommend this one to any fans.
Have to update this as I've had this CD going for the past month in my car. Truely great CD. Very little pops out because all of the songs are so good. Should have given this one 5 stars.
This release from the chilling anime series Gunslinger Girl includes all 13 episodes of the show's first season, following the girls of the Social Welfare Agency, who appear from the outside to be orphaned schoolgirls, but are actually trained to be cold blooded killers. Extras with the release include voice director commentary, textless songs, and more.

Killer girls from...
ByDvalfromClarksville, TN
Genre: Action
"Officially, the social Welfare Agency is a government sponsored corporation that's in the business of saving lives. At least, that's the ruse. In reality, it's an agency on the fringe of technology. They give terminal patients another shot at life using cybernetic implants. This conditioning process then shapes the patient into an effiecient machine for handling all of the goverment's dirty work. They've been given a second change at life, but at what cost?"
Basic plot: Little girls that were about to die have been given a second shot at life, but in return they're basically assassins for the government. The first season here doesn't really do much more than give us a character intro for 6 different girls. The story takes place in Italy which is a huge change of pace for most anime. Plot only got an average score because of the lack of one thus far.
Cinematography: The graphics are very visually appealing. Seeing everything out in the Mediteranean is a good change from the streets of Japan. The character designs themselves aren't very well done, though. They're really kind of normal. However, there's a ton of detail put into the outfits, guns, and scenery. Found it kind of odd, but the Blu-ray version is definitely nice and crisp. No jagged edges around the faces like on DVD versions.
Acting: Loved the English voice-acting and didn't touch the original Japanese. Kind of want to just to hear they're versions of each girl.
Extras: Non-existent. Not a single trailer, commentary, or even a textless opening or ending. Bare bones.
As the first reviewer posted, the story is a little disturbing. If you can get around little girls being used as military dolls, then the action is quite nice and I really enjoyed it. Just not the best series out there. Should definitely pick it up if you like anime, though.
Completely forgot about the extras on disc 2. There are actually quite a few. The voice-actor commentaries about their own characters are really enjoyable. Would bump the Extras up to 4 stars, but it wouldn't change the overall rating.

Pick it up!

Not what I was looking for, much better

Came in looking for a new portable radio. Salesman guided me to a blue-tooth speaker to connect to my phone instead. Can also use this with my MP3. Works much better than the radio would have and great sound. Helpful salesman did a bit of technology training to help me get it set up.
This set serves up every episode of the anime series Coppelion.

Great anime!

Picture and cgi excellent. Story excellent. But I gave it 3 stars because the sound is pcm only. That means stereo not 5.1 dolby digital much less DTS. Why they don't spend the money on the sound affect on Bluray is completely troubling.
It'd be great to have more titles with full 5.1 or 7.1 dolby digital sound, but it's pretty rare outside of the big movies. Really long answer so I'll just paste the response from the animenewsnetwork for you.
Audio is important, and many fans are becoming more and more concerned with making sure that they're getting the best quality audio possible when they fork over the money for a shiny disc of their favorite show. But with so many different formats, which one is best? Which ones should you be asking for? Sometimes the difference is negligible or non-existant, other times it makes a huge difference.
Let's start with the easy one: why some shows have 5.1 mixes for the dub, but not for the original Japanese. I've answered previously on this column that most TV anime doesn't bother with anything more than a stereo (2.0) mix because the Japanese broadcast standard doesn't really support 5.1 audio, and given how big home theater systems aren't as common in Japan for a number of reasons, they generally don't bother remixing for 5.1 when it comes time to release the discs on home video. However, when making the dub, an American publisher might think 5.1 is worth the extra work. If they're already set up to do 5.1, the audio has to be remixed anyway, so it is an opportunity to have a nice added feature for dub fans.
5.1 mixes require special equipment, take a lot more time, and are harder to check for errors (and requires a lot more office space to do so), so it's often not practical to do 5.1 mixes for everything. They can also cost more money. The decision to make a 5.1 mix is made on a show-by-show basis, based on whether the Japanese is 5.1 (usually just movies and some high-end OAVs) and how much the show is predicted to sell.
As for what format in which they're stored on a disc, these days you generally see 4 different kinds of audio tracks: • Linear PCM (Completely uncompressed, basically just a WAV file. Takes up a lot of space, especially in 5.1.) • Dolby Digital (AC3) (Lower quality, like an MP3, but takes up a lot less space. Supported by DVD and Blu-ray.) • Dolby TrueHD (Blu-ray only. The full quality of the WAV file, but compressed to a more manageable size. Still much bigger than AC3, however.) • DTS Master Audio (Blu-ray only. For the end user, pretty much identical to Dolby TrueHD.)
When you make a DVD or Blu-ray, you are tasked with squeezing a lot of data onto a finite amount of space, so compression can be very important. Wasting too much bandwidth on audio means you might have to sacrifice video quality. The above compression formats are essential ways to get the most quality out of an audio track without having an unwieldy amount of data to contend with.
Audio quality obsessives swear that Dolby Digital AC3 audio has a lot of distortion and they can DEFINITELY tell a difference. I am skeptical. I've definitely heard bad AC3 encodes that definitely affected audio quality, particularly in very early DVDs, but there has never been a double-blind study that shows even audio experts can tell a difference at higher bitrates (and quite a few proving that nobody can tell at all). At any event, the presence of "lossless" audio (in either LPCM, DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD) has become an important marketing bullet point for Blu-ray discs, so whether people can REALLY tell the difference or it's all a placebo effect, who am I to argue.
