This glossy yet refined presentation of old high school chums who have gone in different directions in lives after graduation is stunning in it's presentation. The subtle but increasing rivalry between Gibson and Russell over Ms Pfeiffer reminds one of Golden 1930's, 1940" Hollywood.
Here is a well directed movie that move smartly along matched only by the exceptional cinematography. A must see movie with the three main actors in their prime.

Al Pacino is excellent in his part as a simmering human volcano waiting to explode against his rivals, both real and imagined. The sub-story of Don Vito's origins in the old country was interesting. This gives the character more fullness as to the "how" and the "why's" for his personality traits. The family as a whole is sad. The family seems to live a contrived life believing more things will make them happy. Happiness comes from within a person.

What's great about it: The back story about Don Vito.
What's not so great: The plot was a tad predictable.

This National Park film is very informative. The filming is beyond compare. Even a desert can be spectacular if presented correctly. The film makers accomplish this task easily. A well balanced presentation between beauty and the dangers of extreme dryness.

This movie filmed in a time when New York was on top of the world, brings a sense of longing for days when life was simpler and people appeared to be less pretentious than today. Fun seemed to be spontaneous back then. People could entertain themselves rather than have to be entertained.
One came away from the story happy.

There is a good mix of black stereo typing by Irish folks not use to dealing with black people. However, Don Cheadle playing the FBI agent manages to gently change the miss perception of Blacks held by the locals to a more positive point of view. There are some humorous situations.
