Very good Cinematography

This film is great for the causal observer of the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains. The photography is stunning. However, I personally like to know more about the "hows" and "whys" of Yosemite Valley.
There are no extras.

What's great about it: Excellent scenery.
What's not so great: Could have used more structural geography in the data provided.

Who was the real King Arthur?

Perhaps the typical King Arthur was a little a fighter and more diplomate as depicted in the old Hollywood movies. There was of course the "Round Table" with chivalrous knights seated. However that may have been an embellishment dreamed up by romantics. This new King Arthur is more gritty, more violent.
In the end, as fairytales go, for those who survived all the fighting, most lived happily ever after.

What's not so great: Just a bit too much fighting.

First class WWII movie

In this historical drama, the Cruise character attempts to kill the leader of WWII Germany. Though plot fails, and most people should have already known this, the film is good enough to keep the viewer connected to the story. The movie touches on the numerous not so obvious requirements that must be addressed when attempting an assassination of this magnitude. The follow up extras were very informative and lent authenticity to the film.

What's not so great: Mr. Cruise's character failed to get his target.

Three guys and one girl, what give?

In a odd plot where a young woman manages to get herself engage to 3 different men simultaneously, one only wonders what the screen writer was thinking. The 3 suitors were well played where the backgrounds of these men reflected their personalities and how they interacted with the Rogers character.
The story was saved by the superb acting of Ms. Rogers. No spoilers here about the outcome of this odd story.

What's great about it: Ginger Rogers of course
What's not so great: Ms. Rogers as a gold-digger

Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire at their best!

If one really likes those old romantic comedies where the guy and gal DON'T jump into bed right away, these Golden Age of Hollywood comedies are just your ticket. A bonus here is the extraordinary dancing of Ms. Rogers and Mr. Astaire. None today come close the the talent displayed by this pair of "hoofers". The story lines are funny with numerous side situations taking place along with the main story.
These films were directed by some of the best directors to ever set foot in Hollywood and they knew enough to let the imagination of the viewer fill in all the blanks when it came to the appropriate physical closeness of the main stars.

What's great about it: All the old romances found in 1930's films.
What's not so great: No extras!

Joe average's dream of dating a movie star!

This is a perfect film for an average bloke in a hum-drum life who fantasizes about going out with the "queen of the cinema". The two players meet but fate and humors situations bring them closer than just a chance encounter. As in most fairytales, the girl and guy end up "happily ever after". The fun part is what takes place in the middle. Now that is a story! A true romance!

Cultural fun

Boy and girl meet. However boy and girl are from different nationalities. This causes problems with the parents who are too rooted in their heritage.
The resulting interaction leads to some very funny situations with parents who attempt to impose their wills on the adult children

There three cons here

In a classic show about how to swindle rich folks out of their money, these two opposites clash in styles. One has the clumsy Steve Martin con verses the smooth Michael Caine con. Mr. Caine does a better job. Perhaps the character Mr. Martin played is unlikable, though Mr. Martin did an excellent job in acting the part.
The "mark" is interesting and cunning. No spoilers here.

Over the top action

There is nothing better than racing a $100,000 Italian sports car through busy San Francisco against a Hummer. The story line to gas the Bay Area is a tad bit out there. However the lead up to the climax is very good.

The cinematographer makes a fine statement with the camera. This BD offering is more a tour of Earth rather than the geography lesson one would find in the Planet Earth series.
