If You Like Cooking Versatility, This Is For You
on December 3, 2021

This appliance is such a great addition to my kitchen; SO versatile. Just having the ability to grill inside is kind of amazing, and VERY exciting. I live in an apartment complex, so I'm not allowed to have any type of outdoor grill. A grill opens a tremendous amount of cooking choices; there are a lot of things I don't make routinely, because some things just need grilled, not baked etc. I know there are other indoor grills, but this one hits it out of the ballpark for me. Totally.
It does take up a bit of counter space, but once you have it and use it, you will see that the lost space on the counter opens up a burner on the stove, frees the over for something else, and provides meal choices that you cannot get from another product(s).
The app is nicely organized and easy to use, and connects easily to my home WiFi and the grill itself. I do use it to monitor cooking if my kids are making dinner, but otherwise, I found that I do not use the app for much at all besides the food timer. I did not connect it to Amazon Alexa; I personally don't feel comfortable with the idea.
The grill is very well constructed. The inside parts are top shelf dishwasher safe; easy to clean even by hand. The hinges are strong, the lid is rather light. It has a splash guard over the heating element on the lid, which is a thoughtful idea. The buttons feel solid when pressed, the film covering them feels thick, they are placed logically, and the display is easy to read. The grill is easily programmable, and the manual is written really well.
The smoke filtering works great! I could not believe it. I smelled my food cooking, not the smoke I otherwise would have smelled. No fire detectors getting set off in my apartment either!
The grill has 8 different functions. I gave a description below highlighting things. In general, no matter what I made or what function I used, the Cosori cooked everything perfectly; it cooked it consistently and uniformly each time. Having that predictability is obviously extremely important.
What I made:
*I crisped bacon very nicely. I also crisped the outside of a cut of veal that I later made osso buco with.
*I broiled Smores for dessert a few times and made lobster tails.
*I used the Keep Warm function numerous times, even on the Smores; everything stayed the way you wanted; no burned chocolate or marshmallow.
*I used the Dehydrate function to make mango and pineapple. This was new territory for me. But it worked perfectly. If I'm doing it in my own kitchen, I can add other ingredients to it. More importantly, I can control the level of dehydration. I left more water in the fruit, when I was taking it for lunch to work. I dehydrated it much more on the times that I went hiking (saves on weight & space).
*Using the Bake function and a smallglass baking dish, I made a turkey casserole.
*Using the Roast function, I made roasted vegetables.
*The Air Grill is my favorite. Marinated chicken, hotdogs, burgers, shrimp on a skewer, chorizo sausage.

Sounds Perfect; Bass 'Bottoms Out'
on November 27, 2021
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
SUMMARY: The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore (‘B&O Explore’ from this point forward) will NEVER be a bad choice. The bass can use some work. BUT, it feels great in the hand, aesthetically very cool to look at, it’s easy to set up, it sounds great to the ears, the volume goes quite high before there is any distortion, the battery power lasts remarkably long, and it is amazingly rugged. It also sounds great through the gamut of music genres (read below about bass).
I use this with an iPad Air 2nd gen (iPadOS 14.8), as well as an iPhone 11 PRO (iOS 14.8). Setup using the app is self-explanatory and very quick. The app isn’t bad; sometimes it does become unpaired from the iDevice, and it’s frequent enough to be a minor nuisance. Luckily, it happens when you start using it, instead of during playback. I know B&O like to keep it simple, but the app is extremely boring to look at; like reading a newspaper because it’s literally black and white. The B&O Beosound Explore allows you to take your music to places, and in conditions, that you couldn’t previoiusly take a Bluetooth speaker. It’s made for adventure because it’s rugged and water-resistent and design-forward. The app needs to be exciting like the product it controls.
I’ve taken this hiking a few times, once where I was out the entire day in the middle of nowhere, playing music at 50%+ volume, and it lasted the entire 8-ish hours with battery power to spare. I would not have expected that at all, since the volume was at 50% or a bit more. The B&O Explore battery charges quickly via USB-Type C. It was drizzling rain and chilly, and it sat there on a picnic bench while I grilled out with my kids. It feels very well-made. The size is awesome, because it’s easy to pack. The carabiner that comes with, and the nylon loop, is great to hang it on a backpack or a thicker tree branch. The bottom is somewhat rubberized, because it did not slide off of smooth surfaces. It is shipped with a silicone ‘cap’ for the top (controls) and the bottom (Type-C plug).
I’ve tried most genres of music with the B&O Explore; it performs extremely well. The bass only becomes an issue if you are listening to rock or rap music that is bass-intensive. BASS-INTENSIVE; in general, it handles bass very well. At that point, you understand the limitation of the unit, as you hear the bass ‘bottom out’; that is, it gets to a point where the unit can no longer reproduce the amount / frequency of bass, and begins to distort. On a very positive note about the bass ‘bottoming out’, instead of becoming an utterly distorted mess, the bass very discernably and cleanly just cuts off. I say this is a positive thing because if I’m listening to a song and the speaker can’t handle the bass, it is very desirable to continue listening to clear-sounding music, versus the bass distortion. I’ve never heard that from any speaker in my life, and I do wonder if that ‘feature’ was intentional by Bang & Olufsen...if it was, I thank you for that. There are competitors that make a BT speaker of similar size that handles the bass a bit better, but I can’t take them hiking in the rain; I would no doubt opt for the latter.

Best Printer I've Ever Used
on October 3, 2021
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
I've tried quite a few printers, but Epson has been my 'go-to' brand for years. This may be the best printer I've ever used.
It connects in the standard way to your Mac / PC. But it's very easy to set it up via WiFi for wireless printing. There is an app (Epson Smart Panel) to download to your phone (iPhone or Android), which sets up the printer, including configuration of your home network. Using the app, you can print from Google Classroom and print photos from your phone, among other functions.
Once printer setup is done, you add the ink, which the app steps you through. The system is well-designed for filling. The cartridges are well-marked, and the bottles can only be inserted one way (in one orientation). I thought filling would be messy, but the bottles have a valve on them, that only opens when inserted into the ink reservoir. There is no spillage whatsoever. The flip up lids on the ink reservoirs have gaskets that seat tightly, so you don't have to worry about ink drying up. The ink bottles, I expect, will last SO much longer, and they are so much cheaper. The days of printing everything in black and white, due to the price of ink, are definitely over!! VERY exciting!
One of the best things? It's fast. Even double-sided and color prints. I use my printer wirelessly, and when I press 'Enter' to print, the job starts printing immediately, with little to no time lag. Printouts and pictures are crisp.
This printer truly raises the bar. Again, it's really wonderful that I can print things in color without second-guessing if I need to, due to the price of ink. I have no negatives / 'Cons' about this product; it really is that good.

You Won't Regret This Purchase

I've had a blood pressure cuff on my list of things to buy for years; this was a great choice.
***The directions to set it up and use it are simple and well-written; nice that it comes with a set of batteries.
***The display is large. The readout of time, date, systolic, diastolic, and pulse rate are extremely easy to read and backlit with a soft light blue, which is easy on the eyes.
***You can log 100 of your most recent readings, for 2 different family members.
***The cuff tightness indicator gives some peace of mind about getting an accurate reading. The voice/talking function (which can be turned off as neede) is useful, so you can stay relaxed while a reading is being taken.
***The cuff is big enough for a bigger guy like me, and fits smaller upper arms as well.
Two drawbacks: [1] The hose connecting the cuff to the unit is a bit too short. When the unit is sitting on a table, and you are aligning the tube down the center of your arm, the unit lifts up a bit due to the short tube. [2] The storage pouch is nice to have to keep everything together, but it is very thin, and not meant to provide protection like a hard case would. It is very cheap, and doesn't reflect the quality of the unit stored in it.

A Winner As Usual

This is the 2nd large Crock-Pot I own. This doesn't disappoint at all.
***I like the four pre-programmed settings, and the fact that it includes a 'Warm' setting, to keep cooked food gently warmed.
***The Cook & Carry lid locks very securely, and reliably can be transported without spilling.
***The lid and cooking container are dishwasher safe, top shelf, for convenience.
***I like the color 'Mushroom'. It's textured, which I assumed would be hard to clean food from the surface, but it wipes up easily.
***Even thought the capacity is 7 quarts, it heats up very quickly; maybe quicker than any other slow cooker I've used previously.
The only negative is the size of the Little Dipper. It doesn't hold enough dip or condiments to make it worth even getting it dirty. It's 'cute', but quite useless.

SO Close To Perfect
on September 23, 2021
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
I REALLY like these earbuds, although they aren’t perfect. I really like the Devialet app as well. My Review is separated into three parts; Music, App, and Other (battery, sound modes, phone calls, etc.). For Devialet’s first true wireless earbuds, they did a phenomenal job; you will not be disappointed with these.
I’m always in a constant search for the latest true wireless earbuds. I’ve tried perhaps 5-6 pair of the competition, ranging in price from ~$30, to the price point where the Devialet Gemini’s are. I’m satisfied with the Devialet Gemini’s enough to delay the search a bit.
MUSIC:
Music is exceedingly important to me. These are very remarkable. The sound is rich, detailed, pure / crisp, well-balanced, and powerful, no matter what the music genre. Even music originally recorded in monaural. They did not compromise on the acoustics at all. The bass is amazing; strong, without distorting or over-powering the other frequencies. I’m not a musician or sound engineer, but the bass sounds better on the Devialet Gemini’s than on any comparable competition.
I use earbuds under a variety of circumstances, so I’m used to getting my phone out to look for a new track / genre. Even though I cannot adjust the volume directly from the earbuds (you need to do it on your phone), the music sound quality is exceptional if you are using one of the Cancellation modes. The Transparency modes do tend to distort the sound to varying degrees, based on surroundings.
APP:
The earbuds pair effortlessly to the app. The app is easy to navigate, such as selection of the sound mode. The EQ (equilizer) has six presets, and a ‘Custom’, that you can use to adjust things yourself. It is ‘lost’ in the ‘Gemini Settings’ menu in the upper right hand side of the app. It is simple to use, and it’s easy to see what Sound mode you are using, or change it.
OTHER:
• Call Quality. Not much to say here. I spoke to people on cell phones and land lines, with a good cell signal, and the call quality was mediocre. Conversations cut in/out. I had at least two dropped calls. I use a good pair of earbuds primarily so my music sounds the best it can be, but when I need to make or take a call, I need reliable and dependable performance.
• Fit. The earbuds come with a selection of silicone tips, none of which held them securely in my ear. I used a set of silicone tips from another earbud brand, which held the earbuds securely in my ear and made the music sound better by sealing them in my ear canal. Unfortunately, when I put the earbuds in the case, the lid does not sit flush to the case (that is, the lid sticks up at the far end due to the height of the silicone tips).
• Battery. The batteries in the earbuds and case charge quickly due to the USB Type-C. The batteries last better than the competition, even with High noise cancellation being used. The battery percentage is shown in the iPhone’s widget, and also on the Home screen in the app.
• Case. The design of the case, with the sliding lid, is very secure versus a magnet, like others use. It is unique and aesthetically ‘cool’ looking.
• Sound modes
o Transparency. I cannot discern much of a difference in the ‘Transparency’ mode for the ‘Low’ versus the ‘High’ setting, though it seems to work as intended during music playback. During music playback, there is a small, nearly imperceptable ‘hush’ sound in the background; it’s not bad enough to stop you from using the mode. However, when you are not playing music and actually hear the sounds around you, it very much gives a Dolby Atmos feel, where a sound (a fan running, a person talking) has enveloped your ears, so you can’t pinpoint where the sound is. They sound distorted in pitch, and the effect is annoying enough that I don’t use the mode.
o Neutral. Nothing much to say about this mode. If there is background noise, and it’s not being processed through a noise cancellation loop circuit or selectively allowed to enter via a Transparency mode, it may interfere with your listening pleasure. I don’t use the setting.
o Cancellation. The cancellation works extremely well, and there is a difference I did not travel by plane after ontaining these earbuds, so I’m unable to test the ‘Cancellation – Plane’ sound mode.
I tested these with my iPhone 11 PRO running iOS 14.7 and 14.8.

GRAPHICS? ME LIKEY
on July 4, 2021
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
I evaluated the ASUS ROG STRIX G15 on the following games: Sea of Thieves, Counter Strike and Geometry Dash (with my son). My home has gigabit ethernet as well. In general, the graphics are top-notch, the sound is clear and full even at full volume, battery life is better than expected, the lighting effects are extremely customizable
It’s a gaming laptop, so I need to start out with the graphics. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) finally moved to the front of the pack with it’s Radeon RX 6800M. The graphics are superb and transitions smooth and flowing. It works well with the 300 Hz refresh rate to give a clear, clean screen no matter how action-intensive the scene is. It’s very impressive. Everything appears to stay cool with the powerful fans onboard.
Battery: I’ve found that it takes 45 – 60 minutes to reach full charge after being nearly completely drained. Once charged, I’m getting 6-7 hours of playtime before having to re-charge the battery. Given the demands of the graphics card, 6-7 hours is about, or better than I expected.
OTHER:
• Fast loading times for apps and games
• Smooth keys on the keyboard, with a matte, satin-like finish.
• The WASD kets are transparent with a satin-like texture that look striking against the dark keyboard. Nice look.
• AMD SmartShift, where you can realize better performance using algorithms and machine learning to switch power between the CPU and GPU. I could not tell much of a difference.
I have some Cons:
[1] The laptop is fairly heavy compared to other gaming laptops on the market. Add in the additional weight of a quality laptop bag, mouse, headset, and the AC charger; it’s something to consider.
[2] It appears that the chassis lighting effects are NOT separate from that of the keyboard. It would be nice to be able to control them separate, for times that I’m starting to wind down, don’t care about the chassis lighting, or want to save battery life any way possible. After hours of playing, the effects can be over-stimulating.
[3] 512GB SSD. Asus kept this gaming laptop at this price point presumably by skimping on storage capacity. 512GB hasn’t been a reasonable amout of storage on any gaming console for a decade.
[4] 16GB of RAM. It’s standard, but this gaming laptop wasn’t meant to be.

B&W PI5 true wire-free headphones are attractive, well-built, and they deliver a refined sound quality. Featuring Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm aptX technology these earphones ensure reliable connectivity whether you are streaming from your smartphone, tablet or PC. Allows connection of up to two devices at the same time, however, only one device can be used to play or make a call at a time. Download the Bowers & Wilkins free headphone app, available for Apple and Android for further control of the sound and noise cancellation, right on your phone. The PI5 headphones feature the latest innovations in adaptive noise cancellation along with 4 built-in microphones that pick up ambient noise and cancel it with an equal, but opposite, audio signal and enhance the call quality. There are three levels of Adaptive Noise Cancellation – High, Low and Auto, that can be controlled either by the multi-functional button on the left earbud or via the app. Similarly, the touch-sensitive button on the right earbud allows you to enable voice assistance. The buttons also allows you to control playback and phone call functions with single (play/pause, answer call), double (skip forward, end call), or triple presses (skip backward). Another stand-out feature of these headphones is the intuitive detection sensors that put the earphones on standby or reconnect them depending upon whether they are removed or put back on. The PI5s come with a sturdy and attractive charging case for charging the earbuds when not in use. The case is equipped with two 350mAh rechargeable batteries. Each earbud has a rechargeable battery which provides up to 4 hours of wireless playback. Including the charging case, the PI5 can provide up to 12 hours of continuous playback.

Significantly Misses the Mark
on May 24, 2021

The sound quality for phone calls is great; crisp, clear, and I only experienced one call drop-out. Initiating the digital assistant is seamless, easy, and the sound quality / word comprehension is good. These look great, feel great, and stay in my ears without moving much. The battery life is a bit better than advertised even with the noise-canselling feature on (maybe 45-60 minutes), and the earbuds / case charge very fast, whether on a USB-C or on a wireless charging pad. The case lid is well-designed, has an average magnet to keep the lid shut if they are in your pocket; that said, you need a bit stronger magnet.
For me, at the end of the day, these were all about the music. B&W stereo systems are offered by some of the world's most prestigious car manufacturers. They make $15k floor speakers, and receive accolades for innovations in sound technology. But they missed the mark here for sound.
The app has an equilizer. My iPhone has an equilizer. It handles songs with a lot of heavy base very well. 50% of the time, the songs I listen to sounded rich and clear with the lows, mids, and highs spot-on. However, the remaining 50% of the songs I listened to sounded horrible. It was almost as if someone were actively adjusting the equilizer. There was no difference regarding genre. Some of the songs sounded like I was listening to it in a long hallway or cave; very tinny and even some slight reverberation. Some songs, there was large overcompensations in equilizer mids and highs, and other times it was as if someone had turned off the equilizer altogether. There are changes in volume in many songs, but those changes were artificially 'dramatic'.
I will say that the noise cancellation was very impressive; I stood on my balcony 1-2' from a window a/c unit, and could barely hear it. I will say that the product pairs easily and quickly to my phone; it just does not stay paired; it sometimes just randomly disconnets, and a few times I had to delete the product from the app and re-pair. I used the product with an iPhone 11 PRO using iOS 14.5.1. I think that a comprehensive firmware update can fix these issues, but that update should have been installed on this product before the product was released to the market. Given the caliber of company B&W is, and their products, the IP5's are inferior, compared to what B&W is known for, as well as the IP5's current competition.

WOW, it's SO good!
on April 9, 2021

from Spring City, PA
I've used Denon receivers for over 15 years, and love them, both for their build, their design, and their unsurpassed quality. About 2 months ago, I upgraded to the Marantz NR1711 Slimline with HEOS built in. Once I saw the Denon Home series, I knew immediately that I needed to get the Denon Home 350, and that it would be a great investment in my music enjoyment.
It's important to know my system setup that I used to assess the product: I run the apps for my Smart Apartment, including the HEOS app, from a dedicated iPad running the latest version of iPadOS. I use Alexa as my Smart Assistant. I use the Harmony Hub to control my home theater system with the typical components (UHD tv, Blu-Ray, Apple TV, cable box, XBOX ONE S Gears of War IV. Alexa offers a HEOS Skill which works extremely well.
I used the HEOS app to stream music from my iPad, from my iMac, and from my iPhone 11 PRO. Also, via Bluetooth and AirPlay2. All worked without a glitch at all. I use Amazon Music HD as my HiFi music source. I didn't care for the HEOS app at first, for no logical reason; it's a solid app, and works very well.
While waiting for this to arrive, I downloaded the HEOS app, created my account, and added my Marantz receiver. The Denon Home 350 arrived...I plugged it in, the HEOS app immediately discovered it, did a firmware update, and started listening to music.
This speaker is a beast! It's a hefty speaker. But by beast, I mean regarding it's power...extremely high volumes with no discernable distortion at all. You cannot truly appreciate HiFi music unless you can play it on a speaker / system that is capable of playing it impecably well. All genres of music; classical, singer/songwriter, country, rock, rap/hip-hop. The sound is clean and beautifully reproduced. I thought I'd heard all of the background sounds there was to hear on the album Dark Side of the Moon, for instance, but the HiFi music in conjunction with the Denon Home 350 was quietly mind-blowing. I spent hours going from one genre and song to another randomly, and it all just sounded clean and impecable. The base is powerful, but the mids and highs are incredibly superb. It works seamlessly with my Marantz receiver. To play the same music everywhere, you 'drag and drop' the speaker onto the Marantz receiver; to play separate sources, it's the same ease.
I've used Denon products, speakers and receivers, for 15 years; both what I've owned and that of my friends. I can honestly say that with this speaker, and the technology it offers, the simple functionality of the accompanying app, and the ease of how it incorporates with my Marantz receiver with HEOS built in, that Denon has reached a pinnacle in its product offerings and is paving the way for sound technology.

Experience total freedom on a budget with Jib True. The newest true wireless earbud from Skullcandy is easy to connect and easy to enjoy. Call, track change, and volume controls are all within close reach through one main button. 22 hours of audio on a single charge means you spend less time recharging and more time enjoying your music. Jib True earbuds are adventure-ready, too. An IPX4 rating means Jib True is sweat- and dust-resistant. You don’t need to worry about damage if a little rain kicks up during your urban or outdoor adventure. Dual microphones make your calls clearer and if you feel like keeping one ear open, you can use either bud ‘solo’ without missing a beat

I evaluated the product with the following devices: iPhone 11 PRO (running iOS 14.3), iPad 11 PRO (running iPadOS 14.2 & 14.3), Mac (running macOS Catalina), and with my Dell laptop (running Windows 10). On all 4 devices, I had the same experience, both positives and negatives.
Out of the box, these looked great and they charged fast. They initially paired well to my iPhone, and I was impressed with the initial use. Through quite a few genres of music, vocals and mid’s sounded great, but the bass was not as strong as it was advertised to be. They are very light, balanced when inserted into my ears, comfortable for extended times, and had a really snug fit so I could hear just my music. If you were indoors, or outdoors with no wind, the call quality was pretty good, and I never experienced a dropped call. The battery lasts long, as advertised. One issue I noticed out of the box was the magnets that hold the lid closed and the ones that secure each earbud within the case; in a later version, a somewhat stronger magnet needs to be used, at least for the lid. Onced I dropped them on my coffee table (~2’ drop) and the lid came open and each earbud popped out, I started using a black rubber band when I had them in my pocket or out with me.
The overarching reason for my dissatisfaction was that they did not pair all of the time, automatically, to my iPhone. They would come up in Bluetooth separately, but when I selected them, or just the left, or just the right (it didn’t matter what I selected), sound did not always play from both earbuds. Without deliberately trying to do so, I often listened to my music from one earbud (Mono Mode). I had the same experience with my laptop and Mac; in general, they seemed to work best with my iPad. As with any product, they have their strong and weak points. These are good for telephone calls, summoning your digital assistant, and for music that didn’t have a great deal of bass.

When you use a highlighter on the printed text, does the ink bleed?

It probably depends on the brand of highlighter, but I have not seen the ink bleed or smear when using a marker or highlighter.

My New arlo Wireless doorbell is not recording videos~ Why. Haow can i sync to my base station

Hi. There are base stations that allow you to plug in a USB flash drive for video recording, but that is primarily on the older base stations. I have this doorbell and the Arlo Pro 2 camera system, and if I want to record longer pieces of video and allow for storage, I had a cloud storage subscription. It is cheap, depending on the number of cameras, and it works without issues.

This high-definition, plug-and-play webcam, is ideal for any space. Capture a 360° panoramic view of the room or focus on specific presenters with the various display modes. how do you get a different height ?

There is some adjusability. The camera is attached to the base via a screw, so it gives the ability to increase or decrease the height. It's meant more as a 'fine tune' for getting the height you need.

How long is the cord? USB only? No wireless connectivity? I like the 360, but I'm thinking this one's not an option.

The cord is long, at 9.8 feet (300cm). No wireless connectivity. The cord has a USB Type C on the tip, with a USB Type A adapter attached to the cord as well.

The Philips Hue HDMI Sync box adds premium surround lighting to your home theater by syncing your Hue smart lights with movies, music and video games. Watch, listen and play with more wonder and excitement as your lights dance, flash, dim and brighten with your screen. Requires Hue color capable lights and a Hue Bridge (sold separately).

Will this work with every generation of Hue bulbs?

To operate your Sync Box, you need to have a 2nd Generation Hue Hub. If lights are compatible with that hub, they can be expected to work with the Sync Box.

They are truly wireless; they only require a power plug into the wall electrical outlet.

Does the Jabra-Elite 65t have multipoint capability? And does it announce the calls coming in?

RE: announcing calls, yes, it will announce the name of the caller (if it's in your contacts) or the caller's phone number, if you have your cell phone set up to do so.

I'm not certain what multi-point capability is, so I can't speak to that.

How do you use them when watching a movie on a plane??

If you have a movie downloaded on your smart device, they would just pair as they normally would with that device. For movies broadcast on the airplane, [I HAVE NOT tried this] a friend told me that I could use the Aluratek bluetooth adapter (available at Best Buy) in transmit mode. It has a 'receive' function (say, if you want to play music from your iPhone to a stereo) and a 'transmit' function.
