Not Fit For Market
on December 26, 2023
Posted by: D1maddog1
I was so excited to get these and try them out; afterall, I've used Denon / Marantz receivers and speakers for over a decade with success. Unfortunately, the PerL Pro's are terrible in terms of fitting them to your ears, setting them up in the app, and definitely in terms of performance. Denon is very late to market with these truly-wireless earbuds, so time should have been taken to get it RFT (Right First Time). These are neither fit to be on the market nor worthy of the Denon name. Too little, too late.
Open up the box to get the different size tips and pull out the plastic bag they were in (see pic). At this price point, it's a miss. Among many other misses. The silicone tips have circular holes to fit over the tips of the buds. Unfortunately the bud tips are oval. Conceptually, it's easy to pinch the silicone tips and place them over the oval tips of the buds but it isn't easy when there is little silicone to grasp, and I need to push them over the lip of the bud tip to stay in place...and they don't, even when you think you have it, the the silicone tip flies 3 feet away. There are also 2-3 different sizes of wings for a custom fit.
The wings do nothing due to poor fit; I'm not certain what ears they are made for. You are supposed to hold the earbuds, put them in, and rotate them, but when you rotate, it doesn't 'catch' anything, and you end up starting/stopping your music five times.
After an hour of trying all combinations, nothing worked to acceptably seal my ear with the bud. Which is in turn unfortunate, because a good seal is needed during earbud settup, as the app / earbuds 'map' your ear canal / hearing; see the pictures. The error in the pic about poor seal happened a few times, which will cause anyone's blood to boil, knowing that the mapping of ear canal / hearing is like 1-2 minutes long. To be able to finish settup and listen to music, I pushed the earbuds into my ears to make a seal. That colored circular pink/purple 'mapping' looks fancy, but it is meaningless, as a description of colors and mapping is not given.
Regarding mapping, you can select 'Default' or 'Personalized'. By all means go through the mapping, because the 'Default' setting results in a 'tinny' sound with no feeling in the music.
Everytime I put them away and re-connected them, I had to go through a 20 second search for the earbuds, and many times, I needed to go into BT settings and select them, to get them to re-connect.
You finally get them fitted, set up, connected, and mapped, at which point any positive experience was totally over for me. That was solidified when I listened to music...vocals and especially base were terrible. Nothing but popping and crackling. I understand about the size of the drivers, but several competitors can handle base, one at about half the cost of the Denon PerL Pro's. If the earbuds produced impeccable sound, it barely justifies the settup and mapping process. So these are a total Fail for Denon.
The charging is fast via USB Type-C. But the case is poorly designed. The case is relatively small, and the earbuds are held in by a magnet. However, the earbuds are impossible to get out of the case because the magnets are strong and you need a screwdriver of long nail to place into the compartment to get them out.

Solid Printer With Sharp, Detailed, Quick Printing
on February 5, 2023
Posted by: D1maddog1
The Canon MAXIFY MegaTank GX3020 (referred to as Canon GX3020 for the remainder of this review) is bigger than I’d thought it would be, but it’s a great printer. The setup doesn’t take much time at all, and the instructions are clear. The app used to set up the printer is not great, and never found my printer; I performed the setup on the printer itself just fine.
The control panel is set up fine, but it would be great if it were back-lit; in some situations, the thin white lettering against the black background can be hard to see. Perhaps the ability to adjust the angle would help.
I’ve successfully used it with my iMac, iPad 11 PRO, and iPhone 14PRO; communication is quick. When printing in Black & White, the printing is very fast, and the paper output is extremely clear. When printing in color on photo paper, the picture prints a bit slower than the B&W, which is expected, and is very crisp with nicely saturated color and detail; the ink dries fairly quickly. The amount of ink that comes with the printer is kinda amazing too.
Other notable features: The paper tray has a high capacity, so it holds a great deal of paper. The scanning function is quiet, efficient, resulting in a very sharp picture.
PROS:
• Fast B&W printing
• Color pictures are relatively quick to print
• Quick communication with devices
• Large amount of ink
• Scanning is quiet and fast
CONS:
• It’s a bulky printer
• The Canon app isn’t needed, and does not work that great
• Control panel is hard to see

Great Product – Everything Charged & Ready to Go
on January 9, 2023
Posted by: D1maddog1
The product is packaged very well and it looks great. Solid construction. Product footprint (how much space it takes up) in good on my nightstand. My Apple Watch Ultra fits fine on the designated part of the charger with enough clearance to get to the charging pad underneath it without removing the watch band. I do wish that the holder would have some degree of adjustment of angle, like the MagSafe charging pad does.
The MagSafe charging pad has a very strong magnet to keep it in place. It charges very fast normally, and even faster when you press the quick charge mode button. The Turbo+ fan that is built into the MagSafe charger operates when it’s in quick charge mode, to keep your phone cooler while charging; it actually does make a difference, and prevents the phone from getting excessively heated up.
I use the other two charging pads for another iPhone or for various brands of truly wireless earbuds that have wireless charging capability. The entire product works seamlessly and is well thought-out; I like having everything there, charged, and ready to go.
I use this product for my iPhone 14 PRO, Apple Watch Ultra, and various brands of truly wireless earphones/buds.

Poorly Designed; iPhone Not Held In Place
on October 1, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
The product is packaged very well. It looks great, with a deep blue base & MagSafe pad, with a light golden stand. It is constructed very solid, and feels very good to hold. The charging pad in the base, is lined with a velvety silicone or other soft material, and charges ear buds with no problem. Unfortunately, it is not that useful in charging my iPhone or keeping it in place.
The lenses on the iPhone 14 PRO are much more prominant than that of the 12 or 13. It will charge the iPhone, but due to the bezel on the MagSafe charging pad, in conjunction with the raised camera lenses, the iPhone will not sit flush on the iOttie Velox MagSafe Duo's MagSafe charging pad. It will charge the iPhone if you slightly angle the camera lenses against the MagSafe charging pad, but because it is not making full contact with the MagSafe pad, the iPhone falls off the iOttie's MagSafe pad if there is excessive vibration or if the iPhone vibrates when it rings.
IF you purchase an extra metal MagSafe ring and place it on the iOttie Velox MagSafe Duo's charging pad, it will make full contact with your iPhone 14 PRO and hold it in place. But you should not have to but the ring.

Most Functional, and Best Headset I've Ever Used
on October 1, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
This is BY FAR the best headset I've ever used! Zoom or Teams; my iPhone or my PC. It works perfectly. We've all spent the last 2.5 years working at home and in the office; I wish I had this headset the entire time. Seems like a lot to say, but the Voyager 4320 is really just that good.
I use Teams extensively for work, as well as Zoom for online collaborative team projects. Whatever platform I use, my calls are crystal clear, with no dropped calls and no garbled sound; pretty amazing actually. The USB dongle is wonderful, and there is no pairing; it works in seconds on my PC.
I wear these for 8+ hours sometimes, with remaining battery at the end of the day. The ear cushions feel like a buttery kid leather, and are amazingly comfortable even with 8 hours of use. The boom microphone is constantly adjustable, instead of having pre-set 'clicks'. The boom mic also has a prominant mute button, so there is no searching for it if you need to quickly go on mute during a meeting.
The Voyager 4320 paired flawlessly with my iPhone 11 PRO, and equally well with my iPhone 14 PRO. The same result as with my PC; crystal clear stereo sound with no dropped calls. Pairing was easy, with no errors.
The construction is very solid. It comes with a soft black drawstring bag for storage and transport; a small pocket with hook-and-loop closure is thoughtfully placed at the top of the bag for storage of the USB dongle. The ear cups have 'L' & 'R' incorporated into them as small perforations in the leather so the cups are comfortable.
The app is extremely functional and useful for the adjustment of settings, like choices for button functions and lights, and even has a 'Find My Headset' feature. Hands down, the best headset I've ever used!

The direct-drive analogue turntable was first achieved worldwide by Technics. It alleviated issues such as signal-to-noise ratio and wow and flutter, which had until then posed problems for turntables. This turntable attracted interest for its high performance and reliability, and left a considerable track record, including use by broadcast stations. The performance and track record of the direct-drive turntable continues unabated to the present day, with support by numerous audiophiles. With a direct-drive system, the sound of the turntable can be even further enhanced. This is the uncompromising attitude and confidence of Technics, the creator of direct drive. Development of the SL-1210G thus began. The latest technologies have been added to solve issues involved with direct-drive systems, such as cogging. The SL-1210G includes a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor with greatly increased precision by incorporating Blu-ray Disc technology for rotation control. This cutting-edge direct-drive system will surpass previous direct-drive systems. It is not a reproduction but innovation. We are redefining the reference in direct-drive turntables for the modern age.

Impeccable Craftsmanship & Unparalleled Sound
on September 20, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
The last paragraph details my setup, if interested.
Novice to experienced audiophile, you cannot go wrong with this. If you are a beginner, [1] all of the setup is typical for a turntable and is necessary, and [2] re-read directions before wiring/installing the cartridge, especially if you paid a lot for it. Invest in a $17 scale to adjust the needle force.
The Technics SL-1210G is beautifully and thoughtfully constructed, and is a piece of art in and of itself. Everything is heavy and well-constructed. Everything, including the On/Off button and tonearm balance, is textured and ergonomic, which elevates the experience. It’s amazing. Everything sounds warm and bright, like an old tube-amplifier.
Music permeates every part of my life; I use it to get pumped up and to relax, to celebrate and to mourn, and for catharsis. It’s nostalgic to a degree, and I’ve always bought the music I grew up on; oldies from the 60’s, 70’s classic rock, rock, and later jazz and blues. I’ve used turntables in the past that were okay, but I’ve wanted a ‘real good’ turntable for at least two decades. If I would have known what I was missing, I would have had something like this caliber a long time ago. I listened to ‘The Great Gig In the Sky’ (Pink Floyd) and ‘Gold Dust Woman’ (Fleetwood Mac), among many songs, and heard background sounds that I’ve never heard prior, even from CD and lossless audio files.
The Technics SL-1210G has an extremely solid plinth (base) with firm, adjustable vibration-dampening feet. At ~35 pounds though, the tank-like plinth is a bit overkill, in conjunction with a heavy brass and aluminum platter. I’m a big guy and I played ball with my dog while listening to records, with no skipping.
This isn’t, and can never truly be, a plug-n-play type of device. You need to connect the cartridge to the headcase and adjust length, adjust and balance the tonearm, adjust the height of the tonearm assembly potentially, adjust the x, and adjust the anti-skate. Just like any other turntable. The Owner’s Manual is written extremely well, has well-thought out / detailed illustrations, and is correctly written. The Owner’s Manual came as a paper copy in the box, which was wonderful.
The only huge Con I have, to get it out of the way, is that the Technics SL-1210G didn’t come with some sort of phonograph cartridge. Cartridges range in price from ~$30 to over $10k (yes, you read that correctly). It is all about stylus construction which many times dictates the price point. A true audiophile will have their preferences for brand / type of stylus, which I’m assuming is the reason why the consumer can decide for themselves what is best. But in doing so, Technics has encouraged somebody to use a $30 stylus; I’m not a snob, but a $30 stylus will never be reasonably capable of showcasing the capabilities of this piece of equipment. As a good compromise, I’d highly recommend adding a paper or something about the types of stylus, shapes, construction, and help choosing a stylus.
Assuming due to the motor control technology, I didn’t have to ‘officially’ adjust the pitch control. I only did it for personal amusement, to see what Janis Joplin would sound like if she inhaled helium before singing.
I used an Ortofon 2M Bronze stylus (moving magnet; nude fine line diamond) on the Technics SL-1210G. It was connected to a Marantz NR1711 receiver with built-in ‘Phono’ hookup (with pre-amp) and Hi-Fi Fluance bookshelf speakers.

Exceptional Stick Vacuum
on August 31, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
I have kids and pets, so I can find excitement about saving time with a vacuum that functions really well.
PROS:
---Maintenance instructions well-written
---Dust indicator works very well
---AUTO works incredibly well; it adjusts the level of suction based on the level of dirt. It is efficient, but it seems like it prevents the tube from getting clogged with large debris, by allowing it to get sucked up slower and preventing clogging. My kids and I have two guinea pigs, and the PURE ONE X will pick up bedding, food, and pieces of hay without the tube clogging, which is incredible, and something that uprights and other stick vacuums could not come close to doing.
---The carpet attachment (Anti-Tangle LED Power Brush) works extremely well without hair being tangled. I'm not fond of having another full-size head for floors (Full-Sized Soft Roller Power Brush), but it vacuums up debris from the floor without shooting pieces of debris out the sides of head due to fast rotation of a brush; the felt roller does not do that, and so works well.
---The Mini Power Brush works very well on the sofa and my bedding to remove dog hair.
---The MAX provides a lot of suction, and combined with the other attachments, is really incredible.
CONS:
---The handle needs texturized, or even better, rubberized
---The attachments need a small bag for storage of the ones not frequently used
---the [tube] needs to be collapsable for easier storage and transport
---headlights are a bright white LED, and tend to reflect off of the surface of the carpet, instead of showing the dust / debris that needs to be vacuumed up.
---The app is useless, and there are no directions for it, neither in the Manual nor in the Support portion of the app itself. I would not personally use the app, but if a manufacturer provides an app, it should work. I could not get it to connect to the 2.4GHz band of my WiFi (yes, my WiFi was fine and my password was correct). It DID manage to capture the bar code image and successfully register my vacuum.
There are a few cons listed above, but they are fairly minor compared to how well the vacuum, and all of its functions, work, which is pretty exceptional.

Sounds Good But Missed Opportunity
on July 17, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
I have Marshall Monitor II ANC’s as well as Marshall Motif ANC’s, so I may be biased in my expectations of the Emberton II. This was supposed to be a huge improvement from the original Emberton, but they missed the mark for me, in terms of missed opportunities.
The battery does only take ~3 hours to get to full charge. The quick charging was great to see, just out of the box. The unit connects easily and seamlessly to the app, which is great, since my other two Marshall products are run by the same app. The app is very functional, and the simplicity makes it easy to navigate.
The unit comes packaged very well, looks and feels great. Especially the characteristic feel and texture of the outside. The battery lasts a very long time, even at higher volumes. The battery charge indicator is great to have, and reminds me of an LED equalizer from back in the day. It’s substantial and feels good in the hand.
Marshall uses their True Stereophonic technology for 360 degrees of music. It sounds good, but they accomplish this by having one speaker facing forward and one facing rearward, as opposed to a ‘true’ stereo configuration. To achieve the ‘true’ stereo, I assume you’d have to use a second speaker paired to the first. At reasonable levels of bass, the passive radiators work well. Compared to other units in its class, it should be a bit louder.
Features that they missed the mark on, where attention should have been given to, include: [1] doesn’t support HD music; [2] multi-function button; [3] DSP (digital signal processor).
The unit does not have the codec(s) to play HD (high-fidelity, high resolution) music like Tidal and Amazon subscriptions provide.
The multi-function button is convenient to control on/off, volume increase/decrease, and skip tracks. My fingers aren’t that big, but I still select functions I didn’t intend. The button needs to be a bit bigger.
My top con for the Emberton II is the DSP (digital signal processor). The unit alone does not produce bass signals even comparable to my Marshall Monitor II ANC. When it reaches the threshold of the bass it can produce, the DSP kicks in to prevent the speakers from distorting the sound. Unfortunately, the DSP does not seem to work in proportion to the signal. When the DSP circuit kicks in, the sound becomes monotone, ‘tinny’, lifeless, with way too much treble. Never thought I’d say this, but it is more respectable to just let the sound get distorted…it’s an audible acknowledgement of limitations. The DSP keeps playing your song devoid of any energy. I’m not a professional audiophile, but the DSP is just horrible. When it kicks in, it is not subtle, and I usually end up changing the song. It REALLY is that bad.

Flawlessly connected, Fiercely protected. Austere is moving beyond the primary function of providing power, to a place where performance, safety, and design come together to define what you should expect in power. Using our PureFiltration technology, Austere Power cleans noise and artifacts, that can travel through power lines and keeps them from impacting your devices. In addition, the Omniport USB provides rapid charge and protection for low-voltage devices. Austere also employs flameless MOV circuits and thermal protected outlets, keeping you safe from a home electrical fire. And if anything were to happen, our Component Guarantee promises to protect your equipment from damage, regardless of its value, whenever your devices are plugged into an Austere Power product. And because how it looks is as important as what it does, Austere’s proprietary aDesign philosophy elevates function through purposeful engineering and sleek design. Our surge protector power strips have a brushed aluminum housing, which creates an elegant way to power your home electronic devices. Always. Not all power is created equal. You may not know it, but your surge protectors can wear out over time. Joules–the protective layer of energy that defends your components–are finite. And when they are gone, it leaves your system completely unprotected from shock or surge. Traditional surge protectors only last a year or two so if you can’t remember when you last refreshed your home’s power, it’s likely time to do it now. And to take out the guesswork of when your Austere Power needs to be replaced, the blue protection shield icon on the Power unit will cease to illuminate once the Joules have been used. But that won’t happen for a long time because Austere Power is rated to last more than five times as long as most power products and guarantees to safeguard your system with our Component Guarantee.

Best Looking, Most Durable Surge Protector
on May 10, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
This was a pleasure to test. It was boxed like a high-end component and presented great when it was taken out of the packaging. Unlike any other power strip, this was heavier than others, and had 'substance'; extremely aesthetically pleasing with the brushed aluminum and blue trim. The 5' power cord was perfect. The status LEDs are good; I like the fact that they are one color (blue).
Under some circumstances, when I charge my iDevices near my subwoofer, I randomly hear the woofer thumping, presumably due to RFI & EMI. I plugged my subwoofer's power cord into the strip, as well as my iPhone and iPad chargers and began charging the devices. I didn't hear the subwoofer 'flutter' at all. As an engineer, I assume that the RFI & EMI circuitry did it's job and filtered out the unwanted interference.
There are two negatives:
[1] The lack of mounting screws and perhaps a screw template for distance between the screws. It was extremely irritating given the price point of the surge protector. I had to dig around my tool drawer looking for screws & plastic wall anchors, the level, the carpenter's pencil, and measuring tape. There should not be a decision on whether to include it or not. The two screws and paper template would have cost like 4 cents!
[2] 3,000 Joules of surge protection is great, but considering that stereo equipment and the like will be plugged into it, it could be a bit higher.
The product is great, it's built to last, and I trust it to do what it is supposed to do. Well done.

Fast & Stable; POOR Sound
on January 27, 2022
Posted by: D1maddog1
from Spring City, PA
By far, compared to other similar products in the past, the batteries for the Hover-1 Ranger Plus charge incredible quickly, even the initial (first time out of the box) charge. Subsequent charges were exceptionally fast as well.
This thing is very fast; I'm sure that I didn't get to the 9 miles/hour top speed, but it was beyond fun and exhilarating! Compared to other products I've used, the Hover-1 Ranger Plus seemed very stable underfoot, which is why I tried getting the speed up higher than I normally would have wanted to.
The Hover-1 E-Mobility app was eye-catching and fun to use, though I didn't use it all of the time.
Music. I'm very serious about it. I connected three iPhones up to it; it pairs incredibly fast, and with little effort, with no time delay. But the sound quality was terrible. Distortion with heavy bass is expected, but it was distortion across the board, and there would be 'static', the sound would drop out constantly. For me, I wish there would not have been a Bluetooth speaker available; I'd rather hear nothing, versus the poor quality that I witnessed.

Your busy office needs a printer that’s fast, affordable, easy to use, and has great features. That’s why we developed the EcoTank ET-3850 – an innovative cartridge-free solution that uses high-capacity, easily refillable ink tanks. So you’ll worry less about running out of ink, and save a lot on replacement ink. The ET-3850 features an auto document feeder, fast printing with outstanding print quality, productive paper handling, a high-resolution flatbed scanner, and a large color display – making it the perfect printer for your home office.

When you use a highlighter on the printed text, does the ink bleed?

It probably depends on the brand of highlighter, but I have not seen the ink bleed or smear when using a marker or highlighter.

My New arlo Wireless doorbell is not recording videos~ Why. Haow can i sync to my base station

Hi. There are base stations that allow you to plug in a USB flash drive for video recording, but that is primarily on the older base stations. I have this doorbell and the Arlo Pro 2 camera system, and if I want to record longer pieces of video and allow for storage, I had a cloud storage subscription. It is cheap, depending on the number of cameras, and it works without issues.

how do you get a different height ?

There is some adjusability. The camera is attached to the base via a screw, so it gives the ability to increase or decrease the height. It's meant more as a 'fine tune' for getting the height you need.

How long is the cord? USB only? No wireless connectivity? I like the 360, but I'm thinking this one's not an option.

The cord is long, at 9.8 feet (300cm). No wireless connectivity. The cord has a USB Type C on the tip, with a USB Type A adapter attached to the cord as well.

The Philips Hue HDMI Sync box adds premium surround lighting to your home theater by syncing your Hue smart lights with movies, music and video games. Watch, listen and play with more wonder and excitement as your lights dance, flash, dim and brighten with your screen. Requires Hue color capable lights and a Hue Bridge (sold separately).

Will this work with every generation of Hue bulbs?

To operate your Sync Box, you need to have a 2nd Generation Hue Hub. If lights are compatible with that hub, they can be expected to work with the Sync Box.

Does the Jabra-Elite 65t have multipoint capability? And does it announce the calls coming in?

RE: announcing calls, yes, it will announce the name of the caller (if it's in your contacts) or the caller's phone number, if you have your cell phone set up to do so.

I'm not certain what multi-point capability is, so I can't speak to that.

How do you use them when watching a movie on a plane??

If you have a movie downloaded on your smart device, they would just pair as they normally would with that device. For movies broadcast on the airplane, [I HAVE NOT tried this] a friend told me that I could use the Aluratek bluetooth adapter (available at Best Buy) in transmit mode. It has a 'receive' function (say, if you want to play music from your iPhone to a stereo) and a 'transmit' function.
