I have had my eye on the Sony Bluetooth speakers for a while now. During the Christmas season, they dropped in price and were tempting! Sony has a winner with these products for sure....more about this later. I currently use JBL Charge 3 speakers, one connected to Google Home. The SONY SRS-XB31 sounds slightly better to my untuned ear. I am an audiophile of sorts without that technical knowledge that many people have. The bass sounds better, the speaker is louder with crisper sound, and "live sound" mode is amazing!! While the "strobes" may seem gimmicky....they were at first to me...I learned to enjoy this feature! Sound quality wise, feature wise, build quality wise, and otherwise, Sony has a winner!! The XB31 features an USB port for charging, wireless party chain of up to 100 speakers, long 24 hour battery life, and dustproof/waterproof housing.

Linksys is a tried and tested brand for the Internet of things! My friend kept telling me that his kids use Playstation, his wife streams videos, and the WIFI drags! Particularly in the lower levels of the house. They are using services provided by a local cable provider and located at the end of the block Therefore, incoming bandwidth is not great to begin with. I let him try the Linksys AC3000 and he noted improvement in WIFI coverage around the house. This is an extender or repeater, which takes your wifi signal and creates "mesh" around the house. It literally boosts the strength of your signal. The AC3000 always switches seamlessly from 5GHZ to 2.4GHZ, for devices that utilize both. Couple this with the new and robust Linksys MU-MIMO router and you have a heck of a network! Overall the LInksys AC3000 is worth it. I cannot see any drawbacks.

Lower quality with poor sound quality

Sony is one of those companies that makes a really great product but then miss the boat on something else. The WH-C500 Headphones are one of those misses. I suppose at the price point, you get Bluetooth connectivity with handsfree calls. However, I expect better sound! I could get a pair of off brands for a lot less if I wanted the same quality and the same sound. Just look at the packaging...the box is so thin! I headphones are small, the ear cups fit over the ear and they are UNCOMFORTABLE!! The sound quality is horrific. The small drivers miss the mark here. For this pice point, I would get a pair of better quality ear buds.

If you think about it, every measure is taken to ensure that business data is protected. You may have heard of data breaches because a company did not properly protect their network or perhaps even employee error. How about protecting your home network? Personal home networks can be just as advanced as business networks. Many people work from home, have multiple devices connected on their home network but leave their home network open to anyone who is technically savvy enough to intrude. People use weak passwords or inadvertently download malicious content. The Bitdefender Box 2 is a home security solution neatly packaged in what looks like a bluetooth speaker.
The box resides on a home network, monitoring, protecting and preventing. Configuration is relatively easy for someone with decent technical skills. If not, a call to Bitdefender's technical support department will be needed. Once configured, I did not notice any change in my Internet connection. Speeds remained the same. The devices offers quite a bit of protection. However (there is always one), a subscription is required to maintain the security. Out of the box a 1-year subscription is included. The first two features alone are worth it:
Safe Browsing - prevent malicious content from being downloaded. Believe it or not, downloading malware is like blinking. You don't think about it, it just happens.
Parental Control - Keep your family safe by filtering Internet content.
Other features that home users rarely think about but equally critical as the top two:
Exploit Prevention - Identify and block attempts to exploit vulnerabilities in your devices and network.
Vulnerability assessment - Bitdefender BOX continuously scans, identifies and highlights network security flaws.
Sensitive Data Protection - No sensitive information sent without encryption. This feature will identify whenever credit card information, authentication information or location data is sent over a non-encrypted connection and block the attempt.

The Lowepro Photo Classic 300 AW is a lot of value for your money. It is lightweight and offers enough space for a DSLR with medium sized zoom, large zoom, additional lenses, flash, and accessories. The internal storage pocket is plenty large and zippered. There is also a pocket for a tablet, which I use for more accessories. The outside pocket is a tad small but still useable. There is a tripod collar and all weather cover built in. When full packed, it seems light enough still. Internally the backpack offers good depth, plenty of dividers, and padding. There are external side pockets as well. Overall its no frills backpack. Typical Lowepro quality.

Google Home is amazing! You can pretty much ask it anything, stream your favorite music, and cast to your TV. I love it for the music! Using chromecast audio I can connect to an external bluetooth speaker and enjoy sound in stereo. The Google Home Mini offers many of the same features as the slightly bigger Home. The Adobe Creative Cloud Photography package is interesting because it gives you the best apps, including Photoshop and Lightroom bundled. These are respectively called Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC. Beyond this you can install versions on your desktop. For photographers, Photoshop and Lightroom are the venerable tools. I don't have to get into detail. Creative Cloud or "CC" is Adobe's offering, which makes their famous applications available through the internet. This makes collaboration easier, ability to store large files on the cloud, and availability on just about any platform (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone). The only drawback that I see with this Photography Bundle is the 20gb limitation in storage space. For serious photographers 20gb is nearly not enough. Pro photography who live and breathe with Adobe Products will enjoy this bundle!

Does AVG really work?

AVG leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to protection against malware or virus. AVG seems to be a market with their "FREE" solution and believes people like the product enough to fork over $$. Its not really that great and in my honest opinion is more like bloatware. Does it work? Not really for what the company wants you to believe. The interface is not user friendly, in fact other solutions shred AVG to bits in terms of a pleasing graphical user interface. In independent reviews AVG could not detect 5 different attacks. These included ransomware, phishing, and firewall. For the home user who will more than likely pick up malware (even if they don't try) will not be protected!

The Panasonic 1.3 CU FT Microwave is a replacement for an older Panasonic microwave. The old one that we have is 1.2 CU FT but is 1200W compared the new unit's 1100W. Panasonic makes a very good quality product. Only replacing the old unit because we felt it was time. The old unit still works great. The new Microwave has the same easy to use features as our older one. Heats nice and evenly, spacious enough for a normal sized plate. The carousel is tough and easy to clean. Overall we are pleased with the new Panasonic Microwave.
