Over the past few years, I’ve become a fan of coffee. The thing that I don’t really like is all the preparation that goes into making a single cup. This is why I really like single serve coffee pots like the Keurig K-Select. For a few years, I had the huge Keurig system, but it started giving out on us and wasn’t making coffee correctly. When it was time to swap it out, we decided on this smaller version. It’s much more compact and still makes a wonderful cup of coffee. I really like that there are more options for coffee cup sizes. On the previous version I had there was small, medium, and large. Now there is Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large.
Operation is very simple. You fill the reservoir up with water (I recommend bottled water as tap water might have too many minerals that will clog up the maker over time) and then select your K-Cup. One you place the K-Cup in the receptacle, you lock it into place and select your cup size. Then, you sit back and watch the coffee pot do the work. One thing that was a big difference between this model and the previous model I had is the water filtration system. This K-Select system has a charcoal-based water filter, which is a great option because it ensures that you will be using the best possible water for your coffee. It’s very similar to having a Brita water filter. You have to replace the filter after so many uses and the preparation is similar in that you have to soak it in water before using it. It’s one extra step for setup, but it’s not a deal breaker to me.
The Keurig K-Select brews a cup of coffee fairly quickly. I’ve actually had a couple of generic brands of single serve coffee makers that are very slow to brew. The Keurig brews a cup of coffee within about 15 seconds once the water is heated. The K-Select is very convenient and really does make a great cup of coffee. I can recommend this to any coffee lover.

I have a DJI Mavic Pro, and I wanted to make sure the video I take with it is going to be good. The sun can cause the video to look washed out so I checked out these filters and can't tell you how much of a difference I noticed right off the bat.
The video and photos I took without the filters on could not be used because of how bright it was that day.
The photo in I have here is with one of the filters on the drone and as you can see it's like putting sun glasses on your drone.

Many years ago I had an issue with Xbox live charging my card over and over again in one month. It was a glitch and I understand things happen but the real problem was when I reached out to them I got nothing but a run around from a call center located someone out of the US. I got no help and after many attempts, I had to call my bank to have them cancel the card. It was a very frustrating day and I vowed to never let that happen again. Ever since that point, I always buy my game cards via a gift card. The eShop allowed me to buy my games for the Nintendo Switch without needing to put a card on file with Nintendo. I know the issues I experienced before was with Microsoft but it's a lesson that can be applied to any console gaming system where you need real money to buy games.

I got my hands on a pair of amazing studio monitors but needed RCA cables to hook them up to my DAC. These happened to be the last in the store and just the right length.
No complaints as they are working fine for what I needed them to do.
LG’s SJ7 Sound Bar Flex offers endless entertainment from a versatile dual-speaker design: The two main speakers can be placed in front of the TV, or to the left/right vertically or in front of and behind the listener for an even more cinematic experience. Both speakers are Bluetooth, and the right unit has a built-in battery, so it can work independently just about anywhere.

I really like a variety of audio options. I also really like wireless options for home entertainment. A few years ago, we installed a really nice 5.1 surround sound system in our living room, but there are wires everywhere. We were able to get a wireless receiver for our back speakers, but there are still speaker wires running to it. There just isn’t a lot of flexibility. This awesome sound bar setup from LG is quickly winning me over. It’s a nice cross between what I would want for my home office and a nice amplification system for a smaller home theater.
Set up is very easy. Each speaker has a power cable. Once you have power connected, you connect the two sound bar speakers to each other wirelessly and then the subwoofer will automatically connect to the primary speaker. From here, you actually have the option to connect to the speakers wirelessly through Bluetooth. This is actually the first test I ran. I connected my iPad Pro to the set up through Bluetooth and played some music from Pandora. The sound quality is absolutely remarkable. It’s clear and crisp and honestly, it made me rethink my home office set up.
In addition to connecting through Bluetooth, you can also connect to the setup through HDMI or Digital Optical cable. I do wish there was a little more control over the volume on the subwoofer, but there are a lot of ‘sound effects’ that make it a bit punchier. In general, the sub really adds a nice depth to the sound that a standard 2-speaker setup wouldn’t have.
I actually really like this sound bar setup rather than some of its competitors because for the price point, you really get a lot of flexibility with how you want to set it up.

I because enamored with different mice ever since I upgraded my laptop to the 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. For years, I've had a small Microsoft wireless mouse that I like to take with me when I work remotely. The only issue with it is that it's so small it causes some hand cramping when you use it for a very long time. So, I decided to research other wireless mice options since that one was too small for my needs. My search led me to this very stylish mouse -- the Logitech G703 Wireless Gaming Mouse.
CONNECTIVITY The first feature I was looking for in a mouse was wireless connectivity. Since I have the newest MacBook Pro, the only ports on it are USB-C and I was really looking for Bluetooth as an option. Unfortunately, the G703 does not offer Bluetooth connectivity as a feature. The mouse is "wireless" through a USB receiver that you plug into your computer. I don't currently have a USB-A to USB-C adapter, but I do have a Thunderbolt 3 dock, which allows me to connect to various devices including USB devices. So, I plugged the extension cable into the USB port on the front of the dock and then plugged the receiver into the cable. This was suggested by the videos on the Logitech website. This connection did work alright but I experienced quite a bit of lag. I had to turn my mouse tracking speed up to 100% within my system settings in order to get the responsiveness I was hoping for. I also tried plugging the mouse into the dock directly using the provided charging cable. I got a little better response this way, but it still wasn't what I would consider a 'good' connection. In this respect the G703 was a disappointment. Now, users who have a standard USB connection may not have this same issue. It is something to note for USB-C connections though since many computers are turning to it for connectivity.
PERFORMANCE & DESIGN Since I had some lag issues, I can't comment a lot on the performance. I did find the mouse easy to use and very comfortable. The shape of the device fits the hand very well and it looks great. When the mouse is powered on, the "G" on the mouse and the scroll wheel light up and cycle through many vibrant colors. Because the mouse is white (there is also a black version), the colors are that much brighter. I really like that it has a standard 6-button design and that it's completely programmable for gamers. For my uses, I was really just doing basic tasks and only used the left and right buttons and the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel seemed to be overly sensitive, but that could be because I had the tracking speed turned up so high.
CONCLUSIONS I was actually pretty disappointed with the G703, but I believe some of my issues may have been because of my connectivity roadblocks. I think that with the right set-up, the G703 may be a really nice mouse. It just doesn't work for my purposes since it's not a true wireless mouse.

In my household we tend to cook the same meals every week. I don’t really mind it, but a little variety can really spice things up when it comes to weekly dinners. I did a little research and decided on adding an Air Fryer to the mix. This Air Fryer from Philips is a very easy device to use. It’s my first foray into Air Frying so I don’t know if all of them are this easy, but this model is wonderful.
To get started, you simply clean out the unit and add the base to the frying basket. Then you add the food you want to cook, set the timer and temperature, and you walk away. When you hear the ‘ding’ you know your food is done and ready to eat. It’s really that easy. I discovered that the most ‘difficult’ part of air frying is deciding on a recipe. The rest is really a cake walk.
To test out the Philips Air Fryer, I decided to make some homemade French fries. I usually make these on the stove top in a frying pan full of oil. I select a few potatoes, peel them, and cut them into a decent size fry. Then, group by group, I drop them in the frying pan. Oil pops and creates quite a large mess every time I do this, but the family really enjoys them so I’m doomed to clean up the oily mess. I’m also not a big fan of the amount of oil/grease that we end up ingesting from these pan fried potatoes. So, making these in the Air Fryer was the first thing I wanted to try.
The instructions from Philips call for you to peel/cut the potatoes, soak them in water for 30 minutes, and then toss them in a 1/2 tablespoon of oil. Then you cook them for around 25 minutes on 350 degrees (timing depends on how many potatoes you are cooking). I must admit that the Air Fryer did a really nice job of making fries. They were toasty, browned nicely, cooked thoroughly, and they tasted great! We are thrilled that we found a way to cook our favorite snack with less oil and mess, but the same awesome taste.
I can recommend this Air Fryer based on the fact that it’s so easy to use.

When it comes to headphones, I’m usually a traditional user. I either want headphones that fit over my ears or earbuds. I’ve never been one of those users that wears them around my neck, but apparently it’s a new trend with headphones. What intrigued me about the LG Tone Studio was the fact that it’s not just earbuds attached to a neck band — it’s a personal speaker that you wear around the neck. They have earbuds that can stretch up to your ears if you want to listen to something little more privately, but the around-the-neck speaker is what really intrigued me.
First of all, the Tone Studio is packaged pretty simply. The outside box is branded with LG’s standard color/look. There is a pretty extensive explanation of what the device has to offer. The idea is to give users surround sound wherever they go. It comes packaged with a simple user guide (complete with illustrations), replacement ear gels, and a Micro USB cable. If I were to grade the packaging, it would get a C- because it was a little hard to get the inner box out of the outer branded packaging.
When you pull the speaker band from the box, you will notice that is has several different controls on it and the aforementioned earbuds. The buds are retractable and to be honest, while they aren’t uncomfortable, I’d much rather use the Tone Studio as a speaker. That said, you can switch between the earbuds and speaker seamlessly. I did this several times and never missed a beat of the music I was listening to.
Connecting to your phone isn’t difficult. The device I had needed a charge before I could use it, but once it was charged, I was able to connect with no problems to my iPhone. I tend to listen to streaming audio most of the time, so I went directly to Pandora and started up some 90s hip-hop. That’s usually what I turn to to gauge bass. I have to admit, that for the speaker, the sound was a little hollow. The earbuds had a little more depth, but I’ve heard a lot better quality from other Bluetooth speakers and headphones. Because I was curious about the surround sound aspect, I pulled up Netflix and turned on Doctor Strange. I felt like the speaker feature did a good job of amplifying the voices, but I couldn’t really tell a difference in the surround sound. Plus, I had to turn the volume to max on both my phone and the Tone Studio. So, next I pulled up Pirates of the Caribbean, which has a pretty strong sound mix. Again, I didn’t really get much of an impact as far as surround sound, but I could hear the audio well.
One question I had with the Tone Studio was how much another person could hear from the speakers. As it turns out, pretty well. If you want a private audio listening experience, you will need to use the earbuds. I actually hung the Tone Studio on my headphone stand and kept playing music from the speaker.
All in all, it’s an interesting audio accessory, but I’m not sure it’s for me.

There are a lot of options out there for Bluetooth keyboards for iPads. I’ve tried out a lot of them and they just don’t seem to work as well as I would like them to. When I got the Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro, I wasn’t sure it would be worth the investment since it’s a bit pricier than other keyboards in the market. I’m glad that I was wrong.
The Smart Keyboard is great for many reasons.
First, it charges directly from its connection to the iPad Pro. This in itself is an amazing feature because I can plug the iPad in to charge and the keyboard gets charged, too.
Second, the keys are butterfly keys, which means you make a stronger connection with a lighter tap and your fingers can actually travel faster than they can with other keyboards. I noticed this quite a bit when I switched from a 2014 MacBook Pro to the Smart Keyboard. I immediately thought that I was getting my work done faster and as it turns out, I was.
Third, it doubles as a screen cover and stand for the iPad Pro.
Even though there are other keyboard options out there, I don’t think any are as suited as the Smart Keyboard is for the iPad Pro.

The Apple Pencil is just awesome. I used to draw years ago, but over the years I backed away from it because I hated storing my work just to have it destroyed by a simple crease in the paper. Plus, I just did not have the time for it the hassle of it all — keeping drawing utensils ready, paper stocked, etc.
Now, that I have the Apple Pencil, I feel like I’ve gained that time back because I can be out and about and with a few minutes here and there, I can pull open Procreate or Affinity Photo on my iPad Pro and sketch something really cool.
So, why do I like the Apple Pencil more than the average stylus? It’s because it’s so close to using a ‘real’ pencil. The iPad and the Pencil work so well together that even slight pressure differences are detected and interpreted correctly on the screen. It’s so close to a real pencil that you won’t want to use anything else when drafting digital masterpieces.
Charging the Apple Pencil is easy. It comes with an adapter in the box that lets you plug into a Lightning cable and then you can plug the Pencil into it to charge or if you are on the go, you simply plug it into your iPad for a few minutes and you’re good to go.
In addition to drawing, the Pencil is also great for taking hand-written notes and marking PDFs up.
The only complaint I have is that when you set the Pencil down on a table or desk, it tends to roll away and the cap that covers the Lightning port can easily be lost as it only connects to the Pencil through a magnet.
In my opinion, the Pencil is worth the pricey investment if you want to get the most out of your iPad Pro.
