We wanted a basic printer to use in our den to print receipts for on-line orders so that we didn’t need to walk to our office to get the copy. This Cannon should fit the bill. It was easy to set up and connected easily to our WiFi. We were directed to the on-line instructions to complete set-up and download the APP. I prefer to have the ability to download my manual and keep it on my laptop or tablet. We were able to start printing right away. I chose to print a photograph first, and used the provided cannon photo paper. The picture printed beautifully, maintaining sharp detail and accurate color. Sadly, printing is very slow, both photos and documents. I set the print to double sided and outside the app, directly from my email it worked perfectly. I also chose draft mode on the second document print, and of course it prints much faster. The printer came with small capacity black and color ink cartridges. I just checked the ink level, with only a few documents and two pictures, the ink level was noticeably lower. That is a bit concerning since we don’t want to have to buy a lot of ink. The good news is that the printer works well with both Apple and Android devices as well as my Windows laptop. All and all, if the ink is available and affordable when it comes time to buy more I think the printer will do exactly what we need, only time will tell the whole story. If you need a small, basic home printer this should suit you well.

I love old photos. I have boxes and albums full of them dating back to the 1970’s. It has always been a challenge trying to decide how to view them in the digital age. My printer/scanner combos have been too daunting to learn the best way to scan and it was, generally, one photo at a time. I saw this Cannon photo and document scanner and decided I would try it. I was very pleasantly surprised at how truly small it is. While it is small and easy to move around, it is mighty in its capability. It will work with with my Mac desktop or my 13” Samsung laptop. Be sure to remove all the tape and packing material. Included in the box was a small cleaning cloth and a plastic sheet you may need for odd photos. It is recommended to clean the photos with the cloth. Also included is a printed quick start guide, something I always appreciate. I downloaded the app that tells you how to finish the set up, and get started. Everything was so simple and easy to understand. I spent a few minutes moving around in the app. Honestly, the most difficult part is choosing which photos to start scanning. I picked several 4x6 prints and wiped them off with the the cloth. Frankly, it didn’t seem to matter since the pics had been stored in a box. Paying attention to the included directions I loaded just 3 photos to see how everything worked. I pressed the power button and the app guided me on what to do. Scanning is so easy. The prints scanned in flawlessly and quickly, no jams, no hesitation. Suddenly there they were on my laptop after sitting in a box for nearly 40 years. I can scan as many as 40 prints at a time, different sizes, set up albums and name each picture if I want to. The pictures look great and there are editing tools in the software to touch up those old red eyes, blemishes and tweak the color and brightness. I still have my work cut out for me. This Cannon can do the job. The only issue is, I still have to decide which photo is worth saving and, sadly, organize them into albums! I think this is a great new product and highly recommend it. By the way, it can certainly scan any document you need and get rid of all that paper.

We own an “off grid” tiny house where we spend a couple of nights a month. We keep a number of battery bank/chargers for electric needs, but I thought that a dedicated phone charger would be nice to have. This Anker MagGo looked interesting. It is very small. The magnet attaches perfectly to my iPhone 12 even with the cover. Even though it is small, it feels nice and the magnet attaches strongly. It has a fold up kickstand that does feel a bit flimsy and I doubt I will use it, although it may be nice to have. I have used it once to charge my phone from 19% to 100%. It was very quick, maybe 2 hours or so. There were two battery indicator lights still left on the charger, so I’m guessing there’s enough power left to give a partial charge if needed. My biggest concern, it took a long time to charge the MagGo for first use. The second charge was a little quicker. The instruction manual requires a magnifying glass to be read. For my occasional needs, I think this is nice.

I was so excited to get this Ninja Foodi 7 n 1 xl pro grill griddle. I had been using an earlier Ninja Grill but really wanted the griddle function. My husband and I are retired and most mornings I fix a “farm” style breakfast with fried eggs, or pancakes and bacon. The griddle function will be used several days a week and bonus I get rid of the huge old griddle that I hated dragging out to do my pancakes, and I free up more space! I ordered the 7-1 knowing that is a very heavy appliance, as are most of the Ninjas because they are so well made, but we already had a permanent place for it. I love having it readily available to cook anytime. I opened the box, cleaned all the pieces and was ready to start cooking. There is a splatter screen to insert in the top to protect the upper heat elements. Then the grill grate fits in the bottom. Unlike my previous grill, this one cooks from top and bottom. The griddle base has a slope and a channel to collect juices. Next the all important griddle plate fits on top of the grill. One side of the bottom sits a bit higher to give a level surface allowing the griddle to function. Finally, there is an air fry basket. One of my favorite features that all of these pieces store inside the appliance. The 7 functions are griddle, grill, air-fry, broil, roast, bake and dehydrate. My first thing to cook was fried eggs, easy over and bacon. I inserted the splatter screen and placed the griddle on the grill plate. I pressed the power on, selected the griddle function, temp, time and pressed start. Using the griddle function allows you to cook with the lid up so you have easy access to the food to flip. The Ninja preheats to the temp you select, then beeps and tells you to add food. At mid point, the unit beeps and tells you to flip the food. When you open the lid to flip the food, the timer pauses and starts counting again when you close the lid. There is a cookbook included and in the back are charts with recommended times and temps for most foods you might cook for each function. I often use these as a starting point. This unit does not come with the thermometer probe but I have an instant read digital thermometer to use if needed. Our first breakfast with eggs and bacon griddled was perfect. I’ve since cooked beautiful pancakes. Tonight we had air fryer chicken breast wrapped in bacon with thinly sliced potatoes all cooked together in the large basket. All these things only take minutes to cook. Tomorrow night we will have grilled pork chops. All of the Ninja pieces are dishwasher safe, including the bottom grill plate with heating elements. Clean up is great and no smoke! I’m not sure what more you could want from a single appliance that sits on a counter. I’ve never tried baking or roasting but I plan to try it. Who knows, my husband is thinking about dehydrating some apples. We are loving our Ninja Foodi XL Pro 7 n 1. If you have one of these, you’ll wonder why you need the stove. Maybe I can I use it to store some more great Ninja products!

Our dual brew is replacing a single brew for pods only. We have guests who prefer traditional brewed coffee so when this came along we were anxious to try it. We have several ninja appliances and they are always well built and wonderful products. The dual brew is no exception. There was a quick start guide, but everything is clearly laid out and simple to set up. I cleaned all the parts and ran a cleansing brew, as directed. The reservoir will hold plenty of water and we always use filtered. We tried the pod feature first. There are multiple size choices but we always use the 12 oz size. I had the choice of rich or classic. Interesting note, I couldn’t tell much difference except rich used an ounce less water. The coffee didn’t seem to be quite as hot as our older coffee pot, but not significantly. We used the carafe the next morning and tried the delay brew. It worked perfectly. It was ready with a full pot of perfectly brewed classic medium roast. It stayed hot two hours although the last cup was a bit bitter after sitting. Everything works as expected and it looks really nice in our kitchen. There is a little lever you have to slide if you want to interrupt the brew cycle to get that first cup before the cycle ends. This is a nice coffee maker and you get choices for every taste.

I love this printer. It is compact, but loaded with ability. There was a quick start guide and I followed the instructions and downloaded the app. The app gave very clear instructions on how to fill the cartridges which was a totally new concept for me. That was easy. I like that you can physically see the ink levels on the front. My old all in one was larger but didn’t do anymore, and as far as I can tell, nothing better than this Epson ET2850. My chief complaint for the Epson, and it is important, is that the screen on the printer is very small and the print is TINY and very dim. This made it very difficult to input my WiFi password during setup. Other than that, setup was very simple. Once I got my password in, it found and connected very quickly. I downloaded the app to my iPad, iphone and my husbands android. They all connected very easily. I did not find the same app available on the Microsoft store for my laptop. There was an older Epson app that works just fine. I will look again to make sure that I didn’t miss it. Another feature that I liked was a creativity app that lets me do some nifty designs. So far, I’ve printed a few documents and one photo just as tests. Everything looked great. I can’t speak to the print speed, but compared to my prior printers, it does very well. This Epson seems to “play” better with more devices with less proprietary obstacles than the old other brand printer. I didn’t have to set up an account to do things that wanted to do as my other printer did. So far no passwords required, except for my own WiFi. That being said, I’ve only begun to play with it. The picture I printed was only on plain paper, but it rendered perfect color with no adjustments. If it offers the ink life it promises, then it will be a huge improvement over my inkjets. Sadly if the ink really does last a year, then I could never do a timely a review. I can say, because I can see the ink levels, that the pages and full page color photo that I have printed have NOT lowered the ink at all! In the past, because I’m cheap, I worried every time I printed something. Not anymore! I love my new printer.

I am a big fan of cordless vacuums. No doubt the cords get in the way and somehow I seem to trip over them. This makes my 3rd cordless. My initial reaction was that it is heavy. However when I put it together (very easy to snap together), the balance was perfect so it didn’t feel heavy to operate. My one and only complaint, it is noisy! It sounds like a jet airplane. Okay so that’s an exaggeration, but it is noisier than others. That being said, I believe it is more powerful. It has two settings, the higher setting engages a beater bar. That is where the noise is. When you convert to handheld, it is very quiet. Mine came with three attachments, crevice and two Upholstry type attachments. I have a dog and cat who both go in and out but refuse to wipe their feet! The Shark Pet Plus did a great job of picking up the hair and dirt. In minutes the two areas I vacuumed looked better and my canister was full of dirt, hair and dander. I could easily see where I had cleaned. I like to see vacuum patterns in my carpet cause I know the vacuum got down in the fibers. It does vacuum both tile/wood floors as well as carpet and upholstry. I really like the fact that the canister will attach to the lower part of the base for storage. My others have to be stored separately, taking up more space. There is no onboard storage for the attachments however. Be sure to charge fully before use. I haven’t used it long enough to tell if the battery will hold up through a whole house cleaning, but I am very pleased with how it operated. I think this will be a very nice addition to my corded vac, also a Shark, I might add. They know how to build vacuums. I highly recommend this one!

We’re bringing Quantum Dot Color to the people. Enjoy over one billion colors, without worrying about how many commas are on the price tag. You’re welcome. The U6G also has 4K resolution, Dolby Vision HDR and Full Array Local Dimming Zones. Sounds like science, looks like a way more expensive set. Especially with a quad-core processor managing all the algorithms that add up to more colors, more precision and more ooohhh.

Clearly Hisense has stepped up their game. The last Hisense we purchased many years ago was returned. If you order this one, don’t worry about shipping this tv. It was very well packaged. It has thin bezels and looks nice on my bedroom wall. There were plenty of connections for our satellite program provider and our 4K DVD player with one to spare. There are also two USB connections. The sound was surprisingly good. Our much bigger, more expensive big name tv has terrible speakers and sound. The connectivity was quite easy. Google wanted me to sign in which makes sense since it is an Android TV and comes loaded with apps. I haven’t found that Apple products are supported, again no surprise there. The picture needed some “tweaks” to get colors right but all TVs need that. I can’t say the picture is great, but it is very nice for our occasional use in the bedroom. The picture is very good with 4K content from our dvd. Personally, I find that 4K is overrated and true 4K content isn’t the “norm” in most programming. That said, we have a new DVD player and a nice 4K library of movies. They just don’t look any better whether it’s on our “big name” 82 inch or this 50” power house Hisense Tv. If you are looking for a good picture at a bargain price, then you should be happy with this. We were.

My new Samsung is a very “serious” looking mat black with the Samsung logo in black also. The case looks and feels like something a spy might carry. For some reason, when I fold it, the back doesn’t sit flush against itself. I don’t know if this is due to the totally square design or the hinges, but it does bother me a little. Set up was simple. I did fully charge it before getting started. I had over 2000 photos stored on my old laptop, over 28 gigabytes. They transferred over quickly and easily in under 7 minutes. I like that this laptop has usb as well as c ports to connect my older back up and my hub adapter. Once I got my pictures moved, I was able to fully appreciate the gorgeous color and detail that my new laptop offers. My 4K videos and all my pictures looked beautiful. I’m impressed with the speed, the gorgeous screen and depth of color. It is a beautiful way to display my photos from my travels. It’s a bonus that the laptop looks impressive when set up to show off to my friends. I love my new Samsung laptop.

I got my new shark rotary lift away to replace an older self powered bagged vacuum. I was reluctant to give up the old one because I’m a senior with bad shoulders and knees. Although its older and very heavy, it is self propelled and I can’t find anything like it anymore. I’m unable to push and pull a vacuum without that self propelled feature. I thought most of the cordless or new vacuums just didn’t clean as well since they are light weight.
The shark was very easy and intuitive to snap together. I was able to get it operating very quickly. It is a bit heavy, but nothing like my old vac and it has a pleasing appearance. It does seem to be very tall but that is because of the lift away aspect. Mine came with two attachments, the crevice and an upholstery brush. I do miss the ability to have the attachments on the vacuum. The cord is quite long, close to 24 feet, I think. There are height adjustment, two for carpet and one for tile or hardwoods that disengages the rotor. (Beater bar). The adjustments are clearly marked and placed in easy reach. The vacuum easily transitions from carpet to tile floor and went easily to my floor rugs to tile. One really light weight rug did get sucked up but I should have picked it up, just too lazy to bend over, plus it hurts. Talking about suction, I thought my old vac cleaned well. I was embarrassingly wrong. I had NO idea how dirty my carpet was until I ran this Shark over my bedroom carpet. I could not believe the dirt and dust. I actually had to empty the canister but hopefully next cleaning it won’t be so bad. Emptying the canister was easy but I did have to fumble with it to get the “hang” of it. The same is true when using the crevice hose attachment and the lift away. It is easy once you get accustomed to it. This vacuum is easy for me, even with my health challenges, certainly I don’t need to worry about the self propelled aspect since I’m able to propel it on my own. The old one will be going to the thrift store.

You can program a number of options, but we have ours at the preset 2 hours.

how long does it take to brew 1 cup large (not xtra large) and 1/2 of coffee carafe
There is a preheat that we touch on the way to the bathroom. Whoever gets back to the kitchen touches the 1/2 carafe button and coffee is ready in under 4 minutes, maybe quicker. The single servings are quicker, maybe a minute.

Is it worth the Ninja Coffee Bar Thermal Carafe System, Stainless Carafe (CF 097) over the CF091? The CF091 has a glass carafe than can stay heated in the warming plate vs the CF097 that has a thermal carafe. Trying to decide if it's worth the extra $$
I have the glass. Don't know why I'd need the stainless. The opening on the cafe could be wider to facilitate washing it. Too small for my hand.
