This will be the controller for my holiday lights. It took a bit to get connected to my WIFI network because the directions were missing the crucial step of connecting your mobile device to the smart plug WIFI. Once that is done, the setup went smoothly and once complete, all worked as designed.

Speechless!

Sometimes you run across a product that you realize you should have gotten a long time ago but had never given it a thought. This is one of them! After my daughter mentioned that she was given a bidet (one of the discount ones, very basic) and how much she loved it, not to mention how much toilet paper the household does not use I figured I'd give it a try. Let me start by saying this is not one of those basic bidets. One key note, you must have an outlet accessible for this bidet. You'll understand why in a bit. Starting with the installation, it is pretty straight forward. If you can put on a toilet seat you should be able to get this added. There is a T connector to connect the water supply to the bidet which took all of five minutes to install. The mounting plate replaces where the regular toilet seat attaches. The bidet slides onto the plate. Connect up the waterline and then plug it in. Once installed it will do its self check and will be ready to go. I had used a bidet many years ago but nothing like this. Some notable features; the bowl is lighted so going to the bathroom at night no longer requires turning on lights to guide you. The seat is warmed and you can chose how warm! As for the operation of the seat it is quite simple, from the remote, yes there is a remote control, you can start the bidet. The nozzle will extend out and start. Once stated, you can adjust the nozzle from the remote to hit the right spot. Once complete with the wash function you can air dry (think of it as a blow dryer) and again you can adjust the air temp from cool to very warm. For the record, it does a really good job of drying. I was skeptical at first but was proven wrong. Other notable functions include a massage function, cleaning functions and the ability to program for two different users. Overall, I am extremely happy with this and will probably be putting one in other bathrooms. Above all, TP usage is down dramatically!!!

From someone who has worn "smart" watches before I have to say the ScanWatch impressed beyond my expectations. I will start with the look and feel of the watch. Let me preface this with, I have watch collection that has 40+ watches ranging from relatively inexpensive to pricey. The fit and finish of this watch compares with the best of them. Solid build with a very classy and functional face. You can easily change out watchbands to suit your style and lifestyle. The face of the watch is easy to read from a traditional standpoint, and has a very clear digital display that lights up at the push of the crown. Once you press the crown, you can scroll through a number of functions including; Settings, a breathe app, an app to track your workouts which are also selectable, your O2 readings and your ECG. There are also the functions to keep track of your steps and distance all of which is done without you having to do a thing other than put the watch on. There is an app that you can install on your mobile device, mine was an iPhone, that will keep track of all your stuff so you can see what happens over time. Probably one of the most outstanding features of this watch is the battery life. My previous smart watch HAD to be charged every night. Granted I could make call on it (which I never did) but I was lucky if the battery lasted 24 hours. As of this writing, I'm about 16 days in and it still has 62% battery life. For the record, I have not worn another watch in that time! I am extremely happy with the feel, function and features of this watch. So much so that several family members will be getting one for Christmas.

Good but...

Let me start by saying that this is a very complete system that does not require a great deal of DIY experience. In the box were four 1080P cameras and cables, one DVR with 1TB of storage and one wireless camera. I'll start with the wired cameras. Once everything was connected and a monitor is connected to the DVR you will have access to the setup program. Here you can name cameras get connected to WiFi, yes you have the option of WiFi or wired network access from the DVR and a host of other settings. Warning, the quick setup instructions are included but it does not cover all the various settings the DVR can perform. Have to go online for the rest. The quality of the wired cameras is very good. Images are clear and motion capture is good. The cameras have spot lights and alarms which is good. The downside is that since these are color night vision cameras, the lights will come on once triggered by motion but I could never get them to go off! They turned off at sunrise. I was told and read that there is an options somewhere to not have them come on but it never worked for me. That one item withstanding, I like the wired cameras. The wireless camera is really cool! Once you connect it to your wifi network, you can pull it up on your mobile device through the Swann app and the image is displayed in both panoramic and a condensed view. If there is someone walking in the cameras view, the camera will track with the individual. The downside is you cannot view your wireless camera through the DVR, you can only view it on your mobile device. I'm sure updates will be coming but that's where it is today. Overall this is a good system that has a number of features I didn't even get into yet!

Oven on the counter

First, let me begin by saying this IS an oven that will sit on your kitchen counter. It will do more than most ovens and it excels in all areas. Over the past week I have experimented with cooking different things and I will say, all with very good results. Because it can perform a variety of tasks it does take some time to make the adjustments for personal taste. As an example, it will toast bread and the middle setting for toast is way too light for my liking. I adjusted to one of the darker setting and it was perfect. As an oven, I baked vegetables and they came out better than when I do them in the regular oven. I air fried french fries and chicken wings and both were exceptional. I even did some frozen salmon and it came out perfect. I did have to adjust cooking times but you can do that easily while it's running. I am still working on other things to cook but so far so good. One of many convenient features is the light inside so you can check on cooking progress without opening the door. There is also a back-lit display panel that is easy to read and will change colors dependent on what the oven is doing. It is an easy way to check progress without having to stop something else your doing.
One word of caution, the cabinet will get hot while it's running. It is clearly labeled not to touch but you probably shouldn't have anything within a few inches of it either.
Overall I am very happy with the units features and performance.

Convenient and impressive

Especially during the summer months, having cool drinks with a group usually means having a cooler with ice or not having cool drinks. Enter Opal! This nifty device has the capacity to make a pound of ice an hour and it holds three pounds at a time. Even better, it makes ice pellets and not the giant cubes that don't work well with some cups. This is a counter-top device and it fits well but if you were limited on counter-space beware. It will look fantastic in almost any environment especially if you have stainless steel. Setting up the unit is pretty straight forward but there are a few things that aren't crystal clear. First, if you purchase the additional side water tank (I highly recommend), there is a hose (b) that connects to it that is attached on the top back of the unit. On the initial setup, it seems counter-intuitive but you do add water under the tray that holds the ice and you add water tho the side tank. Once the water is added and it starts making ice, the first batch will be mushy but it's fine. In about 45 minutes you will have close to the first pound of ice. The unit is not silent! it is by no means noisy but if you are looking for something that makes zero noise I don't think any of the good counter top ones do that. Above the good looks and fast ice making, it also has a cloud and WiFi feature that allows you to turn it on or off and check the status of the ice remotely. Having folks over and you need ice, no problem, turn in on and it'll be ready by the time you get home. To use the WiFi you will need to download the SmartHQ app NOT the GE Opal one. Once that is done, to enter WiFi inclusion mode you will need to push and hold the light and power buttons until the WiFi indicator lights up, from there follow the directions on the app. Overall this is an outstanding device and can't wait to put it to full use.

So I don't know what exactly is in the spot cleaner however it does exactly what the name states. I will spray those areas that are a bit more stubborn with the wand and then follow up with the cleaning machine and by the time I'm done, the carpet looks like new.

After many times of over or under cooking steaks or worse yet chicken, there is now a simple way to know when the meat has reached the proper internal temp. It connects via Bluetooth to keep you up to date with the progress of your dish. Use your Android or iOS device to connect to the probe. Now the cool stuff, as I said it is wireless, you can download the app for free and the charging dock is magnetic and I leave it on the side of the fridge. It says that it will work for 25 hours before needing to be recharged. I haven't come anywhere close to using it that long. There are a ton or cooking suggestions and recipes to get you trying new things. Cooking wise it has been spot on for the first few attempts. So much easier and now my grill stays at a more consistent temp since I'm not opening it to check the meat!

Clean without odor

More times than not, when using a cleaning solution we've come to believe that unless it has a scent things aren't clean. I prefer to have no scent or odor at all. When I used this solution it got the carpet clean and when all was done, the room smelled fresh; no scent or odor. The lack of scent was refreshing. I know it may seem backward but having clean air without the smell of anything was a very nice change. Great cleaning strength and no residue.

Carpet cleaning made easy

I have used a number of home carpet cleaners over the years but this Hoover exceeded all expectations! First, it came with everything needed to start cleaning including the spot cleaning solution. Assembly was straightforward and easy, I didn't even read the instructions. No tools were required either. Once together, I reviewed the guide on the different features and containers. Unlike most home carpet cleaners, this one has a tank for the cleaning solution and a separate tank for the clean water. No more wondering if you have enough solution to go with your water, it does it automatically. There is also a small tank for the pre-treat solution on the handle that separates from the unit and allow you to spray soiled areas easily. The sprayer is battery powered so you just pull the trigger and it does its thing. Once you have pre-treated the various areas that need additional attention, it's time for the actual cleaning. Operation is simple, there is one foot release for the handle and there is another foot control for the power. Once you power it on and release the handle, the two roller brushes start to spin. When you push the unit forward, a display shows that it is applying the solution, when you pull back the display changes to show it is extracting the solution from the carpet. No triggers to pull or over saturating the carpet. If you decide you'd like to just do a vacuum of the liquid there is a button on top that will switch the unit to "Dry Only" so no matter which direction you go in it is vacuuming and not applying solution. After doing my living room and multiple area rugs, the cleaning was exceptional. The pictures show a before and after cleaning of an area rug.(sorry about the shadows) Drying time was above average probably because it is not over-saturating the carpet like I use to do.

I recently upgraded my desktop for my business to a 6 core AMD Phenom II processor and figured my 4 GB of memory would be enough. Although performance is amazing it just didn't seem to be where I thought it should be so I swapped out the four 1GB sticks for four 2GB sticks. Of all that's holy this things screams now! I have yet to come close to maxing out memory or CPU utilization even while burning a DVD, streaming video from the net and working on a presentation; 8% for CPU and 19% for memory.

After finally getting frustrated with the modem provided by the cable company I decided to get my own. Of course they asked why since I wasn't paying to lease the one I had. Well their own speed tests confirmed I had throughput of about 9Mbps on a good day when I'm paying for 20Mbps service. I swapped out the old modem with the Motorola, called them with the MAC ID and was up and running in a matter of minutes. Of course the first thing was to perform a speed test, the same one that I used before the swap. 20.6Mbps! Not only is my internet connection substantially faster but the built in WiFi has a better reach than my previous router AND the home network runs faster since I've eliminated a piece of equipment; stand alone router. My home network is used quite extensively too; 3 cell phones, 2 ipads, two laptops, 1 desktop, 2 home servers, 2 gaming consoles, 4 Blu-ray players, 1 stereo and a security system. This router/modem hasn't missed a beat yet!

9 month update

In all fairness I feel it is necessary to post an update to my previous post. First, 90 days after I installed it the WiFi would drop and not reconnect until i rebooted the modem. This normally would be that big of a deal except my home automation and alarm system run off the WiFi connection. When WiFi is lost for an extended period the security system will alert me with a continuous beeping until I deactivate it; even at 3 in the morning! Took it back and exchanged it for another thinking I may have just gotten a bad apple. Unfortunately that was not the case. Four months later the newer one started doing the same thing. There were times even rebooting would not solve the problem. As nice as it would have been to have one device that did the job of three, this was not it! Even the wired connections were beginning to run slow. I had upgraded my Time Warner to the 100Mbp package and was getting about 25 in most cases. Back to the store (yes I got the extended warranty) and I decided to go back to two devices. I went with the SB6141 which is basically the same device without wireless and routing. Plugged my Dlink DIR-655 wireless router into the 6141 and haven't looked back. The concept of an all in one device is great but the execution was well below expectation. One other thing, the interface used to configure the modem is basic at best. Most features are either on or off and some you just can't configure. Overall I would not recommend this product after using it for just under a year.

Depending on which cameras you are using. The system does support audio so you can hear what's going on.

Will dvr change from each camera view continuously? Also is a 4k monitor required?, Are all 8 cables included?
You can configure the DVR to record on motion only by camera, or continuously record all cameras. It can even be setup to only record at certain times of the day. As for viewing, you can look at one camera at a time or all cameras at once. You can even create a tour that will rotate through specific cameras. A 4K monitor is not required but just like any screen it will affect the detail you see. everything was included to connect all the cameras the system came with. Hope that helps.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with a different SSD?
Anything is possible but the reality is, is it worth it? IF it is similar to previous Surface laptops there are four torx screws under the rubber feet that once removed will allow the keyboard to be removed and provide access to the HD. For the record, I have not done this on a Surface Laptop 4, nor do I recommend it as it would void your warranty, but have seen it done on previous models so there is no guarantee the design is the same. Does it need to be connect to waterline
No it does not although that would be a great option. If you go through a lot of ice or entertain I would recommend the optional side water tank that connects to the unit.

The short answer is I did on my carpet without any issue. My carpet is two years old so I cannot say if newer carpet would have a different result. As with any cleaner of this type try it in a small inconspicuous area before you go all out.
