Great grooming set

Since I don't always have the opportunity to get to the barber, I sometimes need to do a touchup. This grooming set not only helps me take care of my beard but also my hair. Slow and steady and I can look like a new person in just a few minutes. This set comes with guides to help with cutting lengths or depths, and even attachments to take care of tight spaces like ears and an attachment for trimming those often wild nose hairs. the system is cordless so no worries about getting tangles in a cord. The clippers are powerful and probably on par with those you would find in a barber shop. For easy storage, there is a bag to keep everything together. So far I have trimmed my beard and done a full haircut and no one noticed that I didn't go to a barber. The guides that come with it have metric measurements on them starting at 1mm on the low side and going up to 16mm. I started with the larger sizes and worked my way down until I knew which ones worked best for me. Overall, this is a great set that will keep you looking clean especially when you don't have time to get to the barber.

Big sound, small box

If you've ever heard or said, big things come is small packages, you would right when it comes to the Authentics 500. This speaker isn't much bigger than two shoe boxes but the sound that comes out is anything but small. I'll get to the sound in a bit but lets start with the appearance. The look is a nice combination of retro and contemporary with a tactile feeling of leather on the case. A rose gold trim is a nice accent to the deep black of the cabinet. Features include Bluetooth connectivity, a mobile app that allows you to connect to a variety of music services. From the app you can also adjust equalizer settings and get all the information related to the device. Sound can also be adjusted on the box itself. It has built in support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Unlike most devices you can have both services connected at the same time. Now for the sound, not only is the quality of the sound equal to many component systems, the volume is equally impressive. Even at higher levels, there was no distortion and it could be heard two floors up! Need to have sound in more than one room? Do problem, you can put these in multiple rooms and play distributed or individually. Absolutely amazing sound in a relatively small package.

Protection outdoors

After having my deck redone so the patio beneath stays dry, I added a tv and was initially going to use a soft cover. Although it works I preferred something that was a bit more sturdy and secure. The Storm Shell took care of both. My case will hold up to a 44” tv and comes complete with the enclosure case, the tv mount, power strip and even a case fan. Starting with the installation, it took me about 45 minutes start to finish and art of that time was because I didn’t grab all the tools to start. Instructions are easy to follow and once you find the studs, the rest goes pretty quick. All the screws and bolts are included for mounting to different surfaces including concrete/brick. For convenience, I attached everything before taking the back shell outside to mount. This included the latch/locks, fan and powerstrip mount. After mounting the back to the wall, I installed the mount for the tv and then final adjustments to the tv brackets. Because of where my power outlets are located I had to add a 6’ extension cord but it hid well behind the case. Only complaint is with the fan, it runs constantly. I would think it would only come in once a preset temp is reached. Where I am it was 30 degrees so there was no need for the fan to run. Lastly, the locking latches make sure that the tv is secure when not in use. Four keys are provided. Very happy with the function and features.

Connected quality!

This is my second pair of smart glasses from Ray-Ban. The first set were the Stories and they were cool and I like the features at the time but the Meta version goes beyond the originals. Lets start with the basics, the glasses themselves are exactly what you would expect from Ray-Ban. Exceptional lenses and a comfortable fits. Bonus - if you need prescription lenses you can get those through specific eyeglass retailers! For all the tech in these classes they are surprisingly light. The case for the glasses looks very similar to a standard case but this one has a USB-C for power and the snap glows different colors to let you know the charging status. Simply put the glasses in the case and they will start charging. Features of the glass include being able to answer calls, listen to music and take pictures. A simple touch or swipe of the frame will perform a function. Can't wait to sit outside during the summer, listen to music and chill. Probably the biggest change from the previous version is the AI built in. Simply start with Hey Meta and a question and very quickly you will get a response. Lastly, you can get these in a variety of colors so you have plenty of options. If you are looking for a convenient connected pair of shades look no farther!

Eyes and ears in the garage

I have found more uses for this camera than just checking to see if the lights were left on in the garage. Have you every wondered where a delivery driver put that package in your garage? Finding delivered packages sometimes felt like I was playing a real life game of where's Waldo. A quick look at the camera and I can see they set the very small package on the shelf on the right rather than on top of the lawnmower on the left. I was even able to locate a cat that had snuck out into the garage. On top of keeping track of deliveries and the occasional cat, it's also great for keeping an eye on kids playing in the driveway. As for the features of this camera, not only do you have video but also two way audio. Video quality is excellent at 1080P so you have a very clear picture. Audio is amazingly good in such a small device. Depending on your opener, you have the ability to link your camera with your opener so when it's triggered you get the video feed simultaneously. Lastly, setup was simple using the MyQ app. Adding video to your garage couldn't be any simpler.

Excellent keypad with great features

Wanting to replace the current keypad, I looked at one that should easily pair with my MyQ opener and this one does. First I love the design of the unit. Should blend well with just about any home with smooth lines and compact case. Installation was simple but note that you need to charge the battery before you begin setup. My battery took about 4 hours to fully charge. Once that's done, begin by mounting the angled bracket with two screws and then the unit slips in and is secured with a screw. Took less than 5 minutes. Before you mount the unit I did all my setup first. If you don't already have the MyQ application, you will need to download and install it. Since I already had the app I selected the + and add accessory, selected the video keypad and followed the prompts. Within a couple minutes it was setup and ready to use. Put it in the bracket, secured it and it was ready to go. Some features I like about this unit is the ability to add co-owners and even better, temporary access with the ability to set very specific timeframes. As for the features, you can set how sensitive you want motion detection which dovetails into the notifications. Notifications can be set for specific events and even specific times of day so lots of flexibility. As for video and sound quality, they are really good! Picture quality is 1080P and the sound is amazing clear. And you have the ability to have two way communications! Night vision is also unbelievably clear.

Makes outdoor cooking too easy!

Talk about no hassle grilling! Before I get to this lets start at the beginning. Unboxing the grill you will quickly find that it is a sturdy piece of equipment that has been well designed and planned. The bonus with the grill is it comes with small packages of pellets for when you want to use it as a smoker. A couple things to note, this was designed for outdoor usage so keep that in mind. You might be able to use it indoors as long as you're not using the smoker function. Also keep in mind you will need an electrical outlet. If an extension cord is needed the manual provides recommendations. Once you have the grill setup and plugged you will want to download the app to your mobile device. This will allow you to receive alerts from the grill and monitor progress. You can even setup your cooking mode and times from the app! My first attempt on the grill was smoked ribs. For this there was no preheating of the grill, simply put the ribs on (I did two slabs at once) close the lid, fill the pellet tray up, select smoker, set the time and temp then press start. After the first few minutes the smoke pellets were ignited and there was an amazing aroma coming from the grill. During the entire cooking cycle, I was able to monitor time an temp of the grill. At the end I received a notification that the cooking was complete. The results were very good! Cleanup was simple, remove the tray and put it in the dishwasher. I have yet to use a Ninja product that didn't meet or exceed expectations and this is no exception. Next up, I think I'm going to roast a chicken using the temperature probes!

Nice shifter to enhance your driving experience

If you like driving simulators as much as I do, and I am not a hard core gamer, you will absolutely love this add-on shifter. The "gates" on it remind me of a particular Italian sportscar. To start I used it on my PC but will switch it over to my game console since it is compatible with both. Hookup was straight forward with the USB-C connection. Once connected it was off to the races, literally! The feel of the shifter is solid with a locking attachment that will clip to a pretty thick desk or table. One feature I really like is that the shifter will self center unlike some that move all over the place. Seven gears are at your disposal plus reverse. Took some getting use to because of course the shifting is shorter than in an actual car but overall it mimics an actual shifter pretty closely. Pairing this with a nice steering wheel and pedals and you will feel like you're taking on the some of the best courses around. Can't wait to use it with the game console and the VR headset. I can't say that this it pro level but for the occasional virtual racer it is a must have.

A lot of amazing functions in a watch

I have used a variety of health/fitness trackers over the years but I have to say the Venu 3 is head and shoulders above any I have ever used. Not even sure where to start I'll go basic. Most basic it is a watch. The display screen is very clear and easy to read. It also has Wi-Fi and GPS, more on that later. It is comfortable to wear with a rubber/silicone band that is easy to adjust. As for functions, it has a lot! Some I am still learning about but here is a quick list: heart rate, body battery (still learning this one), stress level (seems to be on point!) Intensity minutes, step count, floors climbed count calories and respiration. Not only is it available on the watch but the mobile app lets you dive into details. Want to know your fitness age, somehow it calculates that too. It even gives suggestions on what to do to make improvements like increase vigorous activity by .5 days per week or reduce your BMI including if something is a high priority. It also provide immediate feedback letting you know when you have reached a milestone. Some I am now reaching and don't realize I was even close until I see the notification. Gives me an incentive to keep going. It provides so much information that it could be overwhelming but my suggestion is to take it a little bit at a time and you will quickly see the benefits of all the functions and features of this watch.

Very nice keyboard

So many of us today have both a work computer and a home computer. My work computer is a laptop and at home I have a desktop. Many times when I'm home I will use both at the same time. Where the problem comes in is when I need to type on the laptop I may start typing on the keyboard for the desktop. Needless to say it can be irritating when I've been typing and nothing is showing up on the correct screen. Although this could still happen, now I can easily switch between the laptop and the desktop and stay on the same keyboard. With the touch of a button I can switch between devices easily. Both my devices connect via Bluetooth but the keyboard also comes with a USB dongle just in case. An added bonus, I also paired it with my phone so in the event I need to send a long text or email, its a whole lot easier than using the touch keyboard on the phone. It also has a 10-key so if you work with a lot of spreadsheets this does make things much easier. It is also compact and has a nice feel to it. Can't speak on the battery life but over a week in and still has a full battery. It has all the standard features you would expect in a quality keyboard. This includes the multimedia knob for volume control or switching between tasks. Overall a great keyboard without the high cost of many with comparable features.

I recently upgraded my desktop for my business to a 6 core AMD Phenom II processor and figured my 4 GB of memory would be enough. Although performance is amazing it just didn't seem to be where I thought it should be so I swapped out the four 1GB sticks for four 2GB sticks. Of all that's holy this things screams now! I have yet to come close to maxing out memory or CPU utilization even while burning a DVD, streaming video from the net and working on a presentation; 8% for CPU and 19% for memory.

After finally getting frustrated with the modem provided by the cable company I decided to get my own. Of course they asked why since I wasn't paying to lease the one I had. Well their own speed tests confirmed I had throughput of about 9Mbps on a good day when I'm paying for 20Mbps service. I swapped out the old modem with the Motorola, called them with the MAC ID and was up and running in a matter of minutes. Of course the first thing was to perform a speed test, the same one that I used before the swap. 20.6Mbps! Not only is my internet connection substantially faster but the built in WiFi has a better reach than my previous router AND the home network runs faster since I've eliminated a piece of equipment; stand alone router. My home network is used quite extensively too; 3 cell phones, 2 ipads, two laptops, 1 desktop, 2 home servers, 2 gaming consoles, 4 Blu-ray players, 1 stereo and a security system. This router/modem hasn't missed a beat yet!

9 month update

In all fairness I feel it is necessary to post an update to my previous post. First, 90 days after I installed it the WiFi would drop and not reconnect until i rebooted the modem. This normally would be that big of a deal except my home automation and alarm system run off the WiFi connection. When WiFi is lost for an extended period the security system will alert me with a continuous beeping until I deactivate it; even at 3 in the morning! Took it back and exchanged it for another thinking I may have just gotten a bad apple. Unfortunately that was not the case. Four months later the newer one started doing the same thing. There were times even rebooting would not solve the problem. As nice as it would have been to have one device that did the job of three, this was not it! Even the wired connections were beginning to run slow. I had upgraded my Time Warner to the 100Mbp package and was getting about 25 in most cases. Back to the store (yes I got the extended warranty) and I decided to go back to two devices. I went with the SB6141 which is basically the same device without wireless and routing. Plugged my Dlink DIR-655 wireless router into the 6141 and haven't looked back. The concept of an all in one device is great but the execution was well below expectation. One other thing, the interface used to configure the modem is basic at best. Most features are either on or off and some you just can't configure. Overall I would not recommend this product after using it for just under a year.

Will dvr change from each camera view continuously? Also is a 4k monitor required?, Are all 8 cables included?
You can configure the DVR to record on motion only by camera, or continuously record all cameras. It can even be setup to only record at certain times of the day. As for viewing, you can look at one camera at a time or all cameras at once. You can even create a tour that will rotate through specific cameras. A 4K monitor is not required but just like any screen it will affect the detail you see. everything was included to connect all the cameras the system came with. Hope that helps.

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with a different SSD?
Anything is possible but the reality is, is it worth it? IF it is similar to previous Surface laptops there are four torx screws under the rubber feet that once removed will allow the keyboard to be removed and provide access to the HD. For the record, I have not done this on a Surface Laptop 4, nor do I recommend it as it would void your warranty, but have seen it done on previous models so there is no guarantee the design is the same. No it does not although that would be a great option. If you go through a lot of ice or entertain I would recommend the optional side water tank that connects to the unit.

The short answer is I did on my carpet without any issue. My carpet is two years old so I cannot say if newer carpet would have a different result. As with any cleaner of this type try it in a small inconspicuous area before you go all out.
