Good camera, features locked behind subscription.

The Wyze video doorbell is a great doorbell for anyone who is looking for a bargain while still having good features. Similar to most of the other Wyze products most of the usefulness and functionality of this camera is locked behind their subscription, but, if all you are looking for is a doorbell camera, this is still a much better bargain than the other big name video doorbells.
The Wyze Cam Plus subscription that this requires for some of the added smart features, (object/person detection, no delay on recordings, and event videos), is only $1.99 a month or as low as $1.25 a month (currently) if you have an annual plan, and honestly if this is the only device you need I don't think it's a bad deal for all the added features that you get when using the subscription.
Without a subscription this is barely any more useful than your regular "dumb" doorbell, you will get notifications, but they will only be a still image clip of the detected event and can only be triggered once every 5 minutes by default so if you are in a high traffic area or get multiple deliveries in a short time frame you may not even get notifications of those events if they happen too quickly. You can view your live feed and manually record or capture to your device (your phone) and the included chime is required since you have to bypass your houses original chime to power this device.
The camera is by default in a very tight vertical orientation, which works fine for me as I have a narrow hallway leading to my door and the wide angle lens makes it so I can see packages left at the door as well as anyone coming up to the door. The chime defaults to a very quiet volume, but both the volume and chime are customizable inside of the app after adding it as a device. I did have an issue when first setting up that the chime was showing as added but when the doorbell was rung it wasn't going off, after deleting and adding it again it worked fine so it could have just been an error on my part when setting it up. The night vision is pretty good and the image quality is great in my opinion and overall it is a great device as long as you are willing to pay for some of the basic functionality that is locked behind the subscription.

Great cameras, disappointing business model.

The Wyze outdoor v2 cameras are a great set of cameras and particularly this 3 camera bundle is a great deal. I was seriously impressed with the quality and finish of these devices given their price point compared to the competition, they are well built, durable, and easy to use and setup. With motion detection and customizable zones you are able to monitor what you want and have notifications sent to your phone when an event is triggered. Night vision is good for my area, it also has the option to have it off, on, or on auto so it should be customizable to work depending on your lighting situation. You are also able to use the app to flip your image 180 depending on your installation, (on the ceiling is one instance), as well as other useful features included and adjustable within the app. The cameras and base station feature an SD card slot allowing you to save continuous clips onto the SD card of either each individual camera or on the base station for later review which is a great feature in my opinion.
The biggest issue I have with this camera set is the subscription and how it is basically REQUIRED to make these cameras useful in almost any situation. The motion detection of the cameras is great, and with great live feed image quality it shouldn't be any issue detecting and recording an event that happens on your camera, but if you're not willing, or able, to pay for the additional subscription you will only receive an event notification with a still image of the event. Regardless of whether you use the SD cards in the camera or the base station, without the subscription the cameras will only send you a picture of the event rather than a recording of that event, you would then have to go to the live feed and manually start recording if you still wanted to record whatever was happening. At $2.00 per month, per camera ($1.25 currently on the annual plan) this basic feature would cost upwards of $6.00 a month just for this 3 camera bundle and that just doesn't seem right to me. I could understand putting online storage and smart detection behind a subscription and that's fine, but basic motion detection with clips being saved locally on the SD card should be a part of the basic functionality of these devices.
If you only want a camera that can be used outdoors or indoors, and aren't worried about having video clips saved except for manually recording them, then I would highly recommend this. The cameras are great, and they are a bargain compared to the competition, they look good indoors or out, and the picture quality is great. But, if you need a security camera, which these are advertised as, I would look elsewhere unless you are willing to pay for the subscription and hope they don't lock any other functionality behind that subscription.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Samsung 55" Odyssey Ark is a beast of a monitor and it looks and works incredibly. I am absolutely blown away by the quality and the usefulness of this display and if you are looking for something like this, then I can absolutely recommend this to you. The picture quality and the amount of built in features make this a solid win in my book and the aggressive curve really cuts down on the issues that are common on most widescreen monitors. The ability to have multiple items on screen at once is great, up to 4 separate screens all at once, the one drawback here is that only one of those screens can be from the HDMI ports, it does not support the ability to have multiple HDMI inputs displayed at the same time. You can however have one screen using the HDMI, screen cast from a separate device (phone, computer, etc.), as well as 2 additional apps or a webpage. Note that 4 screens is only supported in landscape mode, in portrait it can have up to 3 screens at once.
This is a great choice in my opinion for anyone who has ever thought about using a TV for a monitor but was hesitant due to some of the drawbacks that entails, this is a monitor that happens to have TV features. With several smart apps already installed and more available you can watch your favorite streaming services when your not using this as a monitor, or you can use multi-view and use your computer and watch movies on a second screen. One of the coolest features in my opinion is all of the game streaming options that are built straight into the monitor, no need to have a console, just stream the games right to your monitor and hook up a controller and you are up and gaming in no time. I absolutely love all the features that are built into this monitor and it works great for gaming and when you are done gaming the built in apps allow you to relax and watch some shows with a great quality picture.
There are a few caveats that I will add, that may save you some heartache if this is what you are looking for but if you have any of these issues, you may need to look at something else or make some adjustments to your current setup. First of all and most importantly, this monitor is absolutely massive and it has the weight to go along with it's massive size, the monitor with stand weighs around 90 pounds, so you need to be absolutely sure that wherever you intend to house this thing it can support the weight. This monitor is dangerously heavy if you put it on a desk that cannot support it, it requires 2 people to setup and to safely move and I would make sure that you can meet this requirement because it is not at all recommended to work on this monitor on your own. The second thing to keep in mind is that the one connect box, the external input for all your HDMI and peripherals for the monitor, only has HDMI inputs, so if your gaming computer only has DisplayPort outputs you may need to look at a GPU or computer that has HDMI 2.1 outputs otherwise you won't be able to get the full benefits of this monitor. Lastly, and something I've seen others complain about, is the fact that when you are using multi-view to have multiple different screens, game mode is not supported and you will notice that the screen gets much darker, the brightness is adjustable in the settings, but without game mode you are limited to only 120Hz (still plenty) on your HDMI input. For me none of these are deal breakers, but they are something to be aware of.

For those looking for the best in the latest television technologies, the U8H should be a top contender. The most exciting 2022 upgrade is Mini-LED. The Hisense - 75" Class U8 Series Quantum Google TV, model number 75U8H is an amazing 4K TV that is just absolutely gigantic. Featuring mini-LED technology that allows the Hisense TV to bring contrast close to an OLED TV while maintaining the advantages of a traditional LED TV. There is no worry of burn in on this TV if you use it for static images such as computer background or for displaying images for your business or home. The fact that this TV is comparable to an OLED TV is just absolutely amazing and the color and contrast on this TV are really great. The brightness is something else as well, I was watching a 4K HDR movie and the bright scenes were able to light up my entire living room and you don't lose any of the contrast or clarity regardless if the scene is bright or dark as you would with more traditional LED TVs.
The built-in Google TV with Google Assistant works beautifully and provides a great dashboard for all of your content and applications, it shows recently viewed content from any of the installed applications as well as showing suggestions based off of your viewing history. I suggest updating your system when you receive the TV as there appears to be a pretty significant upgrade that was provided compared to the software that was installed coming from the factory. After installing the update I was able to add a second account for my wife and that way each of our content could be separated and we would each receive viewing suggestions based on our own shows rather than seeing a mixup of all of our content combined. With the update when turning on the TV you are presented with a user selection screen and can then see recently viewed and suggested content per user, the only thing that I wish they would add would be the ability to customize the shown applications on a per user basis as currently both users see the same application bar and I would like to have it separated so that I could have my preferred apps listed first and the same for my wife. Otherwise the software is extremely great, it's very responsive and I am glad that Hisense chose to add Google TV as it is a great piece of software when paired with good hardware and in this case Hisense made sure to add great hardware so that the Google TV could shine. I wouldn't mind having Apple TV included as well and I am not sure if there is another version that has that installed instead of Google TV, but since my household uses both Google and Apple products I would like the ability to switch between either as needed, but that is just a personal preference.
The inclusion of HDMI 2.1 as well as the inclusion of AMD's FreeSync technology make this a great choice for gamers as well. With 4K 120Hz variable refresh rate this TV is a gaming beast, I would have like to seen the inclusion of a Display Port 1.4 input so that I could more easily connect a computer for gaming as most PCs don't feature an HDMI 2.1 output as most graphics cards manufacturers don't include it by default. There are ways around this and even when using an HDMI 2 output from my computer to this TV the fact that I can still game at 4K 60Hz is amazing and makes for a great experience.
Last thing I want to talk about is the sound on this TV, it is surprisingly very good, and for a TV that still manages to be fairly thin and light (for it's size) this is actually surprising to me. Typically when buying a TV nowadays the sound quality is not something I ever worry about as they are almost always very bad and I recommend just buying a surround system or at the very least a sound bar, but in this instance I was very impressed with the sound quality of the Hisense TV. With Dolby Atmos sound and a built in subwoofer on the back the sound quality is actually really good and I haven't felt the need to add a sound bar or surround system for my smaller apartment. Now obviously it's not going to compare to a full surround system for immersion, but it is also extremely usable for all content without having to constantly change the volume because speaking parts are too quiet and actions parts are too loud, I am able to set the volume to a good listening volume and don't have to change it as it sounds good regardless of what is going on.

Excellent, customizable ten-keyless keyboard.

The Logitech - G715 TKL Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard from the Aurora Collection featuring tactile switches is a great ten-keyless keyboard for anyone who is looking for a G715 that offers a bit more customization than the traditional G715. The faceplate and keycaps are all customizable, although this only comes in the White Mist color with additional faceplates and keycaps available separately from Logitech. The addition of Lightsync allows you to customize the colors of the perimeter and under-key lighting allowing you to even further customize your experience. I really enjoy the looks and feelings of this keyboard and I am extremely happy with the customization options that are available for this keyboard. I am not fully certain of the type of keycaps used and I am not too familiar with customizable keyboards, but I would be interested in knowing if it uses proprietary keycaps only available from Logitech, or if it uses a standard size which would allow for even more customization. I typically prefer a full-sized keyboard as I do programming on a regular basis, but the fact that this is ten-keyless but still features the traditional arrow keys as well as the PG Up, PG Down, Del and all those keys make it still useable for me without having to use a bunch of weird key-binds to get around when I am typing.
The keyboard works out the box for Mac and Windows using the provided USB Logitech Lightspeed Wireless dongle including the additional media functionality and doesn't require any additional programs or applications unless you want to customize your lighting. For computers or devices that don't have or don't work with the USB Lightspeed dongle, the keyboard also features Bluetooth making it compatible with just about any device that can use a keyboard. On Mac the Windows key of the keyboard works as the Command key and the Alt key is the Option key, I prefer having my keybindings the same as a Mac keyboard and unfortunately the Logitech software only allows you to edit the F1-F12 keys. I use a third-party tool called Karabiner-Elements that allows you to rebind the keys of any and all keys on your keyboard to something of your preference and this allows me to rebind the Command and Option keys to where I prefer them.
The only issues that I really have with this keyboard, and they are less an issue and more a preference, are the fact that the faceplate is a bit wobbly as it only attaches by a few small magnets to the keyboard itself and also the tactile mechanical switches are very loud in my opinion. Logitech advertises them as "giving you feedback you can feel and some click", but in my opinion these are louder than "some click" and could be annoying to your partner or coworkers depending on your space. I personally don't mind it, but I have also gotten some comments from others who notice it from quite a distance away so you may want to steer away from these ones if you need a quite keyboard. Other than these small personal issues this is an excellent keyboard that I have really fallen in love with, the smaller footprint is nice and the fact that it still features useful keys makes it a great keyboard for me to use while writing code and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good ten-keyless mechanical keyboard.

Excellent iPhone controller with extra features!

The Backbone One for iPhone - Playstation Edition is a great controller for your iPhone gaming as well as having the ability to play games remotely using PS Remote Play, Xbox Remote Play, and Steam Link (for controller supported games). When using the Backbone One+ App additional features are unlocked such as the ability to save/create screenshots or videos and the fact that the app serves as a hub for your games/apps allowing you to quickly launch and play your games from one easy to use dashboard. While there is a subscription required to use the Backbone One+ App, it does include one year free, and if you only intend to use the Backbone One as a controller, the app or subscription are not required to play controller supported games on your iPhone. The fact that you can quickly and easily launch and play your games from the Backbone One+ app either directly from your phone or when using remote play games on either Playstation, Xbox, or Steam makes this an amazing controller for anyone who wants to take their gaming mobile.
The controller itself has amazing support for your iPhone, with support all the way back to the iPhone 6s and all the way up to the current iPhone 13 Pro Max, the only caveat is for the 13 Pro and Pro Max an included adapter is necessary to make your device fit properly. I personally tested this controller using the iPhone XS Max and had no issues at all with the fit and quality of the controller, the only thing to keep in mind is the fact that the controller is not compatible with cases on your phone so you will have to remove your case anytime you want to use this controller. One small issue that I had with the controller itself is the fact that the right side buttons, (square, triangle, x, circle), are very loud and could cause issues if you are gaming at night with your partner nearby. Speaking of the right side buttons, one thing to keep in mind is the fact that the iPhone was built with support for the Xbox controller and since this specific controller was designed with the Playstation in mind the buttons will not match up to what is shown on your display in most instances, the controller is fully compatible so that is not the issue, it is just you will see Xbox controls on screen and will have to know what they map to on the Playstation controller.
This is an excellent controller for the iPhone with a ton of extra features that make it much more useful than just a traditional controller and I would fully recommend this to anyone looking for an iPhone controller.

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdwe is an amazing laser jet printer for anyone that wants a printer for their home office or small/medium business. With the ability to print up to 42 pages per minute and double sided printing and scanning, this is a workhorse of a printer and is a great fit for small businesses or for your home office. I personally prefer a laser jet printer for the fact that it is great for infrequent printing usage without having to worry about the ink drying as it would in more traditional printers, the only caveat is that this printer is only capable of printing in black/white or grayscale. I used the wireless setup without using my phone and just used the onscreen touchpad to install the printer and connect it to my home network and I was able to get it up and running quickly and it is detected by both my Mac and Windows computer as well as my iPhone without having to install any kind of applications to my device, which I greatly appreciate.
My only real complaint, and the reason why I am only giving this 4 stars, is due to the fact that enrolling the printer in HP+ is a required part of the installation process and there is no option to not use the service. For small/medium businesses or for home offices with multiple users this feature may be useful, but for me personally, I do not find the feature useful and due to the fact that it locks you into using only original HP ink or toner for the life of the product, and requires a constant internet connection to work and once it is activated on the device it cannot be deactivated. However, for this series of printer the HP+ is not optional and is required no matter if you want it or not. It is up to you to decide if this is a deal breaker or not for you, personally, I am fine with these requirements as I will be keeping the device connected regardless and the fact that the laser jet cartridge will last me for quite some time makes replacing them an infrequent process.

It is up to you to decide if this is a deal breaker or not for you, personally, I am fine with these requirements as I will be keeping the device connected regardless and the fact that the laser jet cartridge will last me for quite some time makes replacing them an infrequent process.
This is a great printer and I personally would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a printer for their small/medium business and is fine with the fact that it only prints in black/white and grayscale.

The Alienware x15 R2 Gaming Laptop is an amazingly specked laptop that can handle most tasks with a breeze. The Intel i7-12700H combined with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti makes this computer a beast when it comes to gaming and for productivity. The keyboard and touchpad are great and make for a great user experience for anyone who uses the laptop when on the go. With the Killer Wi-Fi 6 included on this laptop your gaming or browsing experience will be amazing with super fast speed possible as long as your network is using Wi-Fi 6. I wish the display featured a higher resolution since the 3070 Ti is more than capable of driving higher resolutions, but since it also has a 360Hz and 1ms response time with a G-Sync capable display, it is no slouch when it comes to gaming.
I am also a huge fan of the fit and finish of this laptop which looks and feels amazing, it is light and thin compared to most gaming laptops and has a good selection of I/O ports making it easy to use as a desktop replacement. The laptop is light while still being solid and having no body flex while typing or carrying around. With an HDMI, 3.2 USB-C w/ DisplayPort, SD card, Thunderbolt 4 w/ DisplayPort, and a USB-A port on the back as well as an audio jack on the side this laptop includes a good selection of ports. The fact that all of the ports, with the exception of the audio jack and power-adapter port, are located on the back of the laptop make it easy to use this on a desk or your lap without having cables dangling out the sides of the device. The hard-drive is also easily expandable or upgradable with only 6 screws needing to be removed on the underside of the laptop and the 2 m.2 SSD slots are located just above the battery. I did not see any easy way to upgrade/replace the memory, but I also did not pull the laptop any further apart than removing the bottom panel. My only complaint with the body of the device is the matt finish makes the area under the keyboard pick up palm prints very easily, however, it is also extremely easy to clean and is resistant to staining.
My only real complaint with the Alienware x15 is the heat; this thing gets really hot, really quickly and it is even worse if you are using this as a portable device. With the smaller body it makes cooling the powerful hardware very difficult and if you are doing any kind of intensive tasks the laptop will get hot very quickly and will thermal throttle very soon. When using the laptop on your lap, the fan inputs are directly where your legs would be and the exhaust will go directly onto your knees making it an unpleasant experience very quickly and affecting your gaming/work experience since it will be even more difficult to cool your device. There is the Alienware Command Center where you can apply custom power and fan settings as well as overclocks that either automatically apply or can be configured per task, but this experience is also not great since it is not very intuitive and it also seems that you need to keep the program running for the fan settings to actually take affect and it does not just start or run in the background.
Overall, this is an amazing laptop that depending on your use case could be a perfect fit, but I think it is severely limited by the extreme amount of heat that it quickly builds up. If you need a powerful, portable computer then this is a great choice, if you need something that is dependable and is able to push the hardware to the max, it is probably better to look for a well cooled desktop computer.

The Acer Aspire XC-830-UB11 is a great computer for anyone that needs a simple workstation or a small computer for a home media center. If you are looking for a gaming computer or a 'pro' pc, this is not the one for you, but if you just need a computer for your work/office or if you want something small and light to use in your media center, then this is a good choice for you. I personally have been using this computer as a media computer in my living room, the fact that it has a DVD drive and the small footprint make it fit great into my media center. I have installed Plex and am using this computer as a client to watch movies off of my main computer in my living room and it works great for this use case.
The keyboard and mouse that are included are not very good quality, but if you don't already have one, it is included so you don't need to provide your own if needed. The 8Gb of RAM is fine, it would be nice to have more, but I think for this type of desktop it is plenty for most tasks. My only complaint is the SSD is only 256Gb so if you are saving stuff on the computer itself it will quickly use up the available hard-drive space, I personally would recommend saving everything on either an external hard-drive or using some kind of cloud storage. The computer is easily upgradable so if you do need more hard-drive space, you can replace the current SSD or add another drive using the PCIe slot that is available on the motherboard. Be aware that if you do require more memory than the 8Gb of RAM, this processor does not support more than 8Gb so it already includes the max supported memory in this configuration, if you need more memory you would need to check if there is another configuration with a different CPU that supports more memory.
Overall this is a great computer for anyone who just needs to do light work or for someone who wants to use the small size and DVD drive as a home media center. If you need more power or your work requires graphics or high compute power then this isn't a good option for you.

The Sony SRSXE200 is an all-around great portable bluetooth speaker with an incredibly easy pairing process and physical control buttons to make changing settings possible without the need for an application. While this is not the best sounding portable speaker on the market, I think it is probably one of the better water/dust-proof speakers that is also durable. This makes the XE200 great for outdoor parties regardless of the weather or environment, and for this kind of use case I think the sound is fine as it is out the box, and if you are willing to either install the app or look up the guide for changing the default connection quality (changing the codec), there are some additional modifications you can make to help improve the sound quality to your liking. I am personally not a fan of the look of the speaker, but I do understand that it is designed in a way to help boost the sound for people who aren't directly in front of the speaker, and this again means it is something that I can overlook since it serves a purpose.
Speaking of the application, I am extremely glad that it is not required to get full functionality out of the speakers, the only thing you cannot do without the application is to update the speaker, which for me is fine since I am not having any issues and do not see any reason to update currently. However, if you are having issues, or see that an update is adding a feature that you would like, I personally would just install the app to do the update and then uninstall the application again. It is refreshing that Sony has not made it mandatory to install an additional app on my phone for something like a bluetooth speaker, the fact that all functionality can be completed using the physical buttons on the speaker itself is very nice and is something I would like to see from more manufacturers.

What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
I am interested in putting together a wireless network. I understand that WPA, WEP, WEP2, and TKIP have been compromised. What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
WPA and WPA2 are still the most used security standards used and as long as you are not using a weak short password and instead use a longer more secure password (letters, numbers, and symbols), it is still a very secure standard. However, on routers that have WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) enabled, it can be used as a backdoor into your network through brute force. On most routers this is easily disabled, and in my opinion unnecessary on your own home network, but on other routers it is unable to be disabled leaving a way for your network to be hacked into. As with all security it is impossible to create a system that will not at some point be circumvented with enough time and patience, however for networking security standards WPA is still the best and safest option due to the enormous amount of time and effort involved with actually hacking into it if a good password is used.
As a note if you have any devices using WEP replace them as soon as possible since it is a matter of minutes to hack into devices using that method of security.
