Great camera, bogged down by a subpar app.

The Swann Outdoor Floodlight 4K camera works great and has some pretty nice features that make it a good addition or starting point for your home security, but I feel that the requirement of having to use Swann's application to be able to get full functionality and configurability really hampers this from being a better camera. The camera itself is great, good quality image, bright floodlight, and local storage make it a great camera and the additional features that it has make it so that you can really fine tune how it works to make it work best for you, but I just wish I could add it as a camera to my already existing systems and not have to make use of an app that may or may not get continued support for the life of the camera.
This is a standalone camera that does not work over ethernet, so it cannot be (easily) added to your other Swann security products that almost all use PoE wired cameras. This means that you can either go through the process of adding it as an IP camera using the WiFi address so that you can add it to your existing camera system or you have to use the Swann app. I don't feel that this is a good solution since Swann already has many great camera systems that allow additional cameras to easily be added using ethernet, and if they were going to make it app based then why not make it fully integrate with some of the existing home standards such as Google Home, Apple HomeKit, or Alexa. While the camera can be added to Google Home and to Alexa it is added through an integration through Swann rather than being directly added into either of these apps as a standalone camera. I feel that there is no need for every single camera manufacturer to reinvent the wheel when it comes to integrating their cameras into existing systems, either make it so you can add it wired to an NVR system or make it so that it can be added to the preexisting home systems that are already widely in use as a standalone camera.

The Tineco PWRHERO 10S is a great cordless vacuum for cleaning up small messes quickly or for spot cleaning around the house. I would not consider using this as my primary vacuum for cleaning a large house or even a fully carpeted apartment as the battery and dust bin just don’t have the capacity to handle prolonged cleaning, but if you already have a good vacuum and just need something small and light for cleaning up messes or for cleaning the hard to get places, then this is a great choice in my opinion.
With the included attachments and the vacuums overall light weight this is a very versatile vacuum capable of cleaning up hard to reach places as well as furniture, it is also capable of acting as a traditional vacuum, though again it does have its shortfalls in this area since it is so small and lightweight. It is also very good at dealing with pet hair due to its bag less bin, and the filter keeps dust and pollen from being released back into the area you just cleaned.
Overall, this is a very good lightweight vacuum for anyone who is looking for something to handle messes around the house and to reach and clean those hard to reach places.

The Insignia Anti-Reflective Glass Screen Protector for the iPhone 14 Pro Max is a great screen protector and the fact that it comes in a 4 pack is great for families/groups with the same phone, or if you know that you end up needing to replace your screen protector often. Installation is simple with the included alignment tool and each screen protector also comes with the cleaning kit needed to ensure proper installation, so you have 4 protectors and 4 cleaning kits included inside the box. The screen protector itself is anti-reflective which is great as it helps make using your phone in bright environments a much easier task.
This is a hard screen protector so unlike other protectors that are meant to absorb impacts this style protector is meant to take the impact and either prevent damage or for the protector to take the full damage and prevent your screen from breaking. What that means is that in the event of dropping your phone or hitting it very hard this screen protector will very likely shatter in some instances but it will prevent your actual iPhone from taking the full force of the impact preventing it from breaking the phone itself.
I would highly recommend this screen protector to anyone who is looking for a good way to protect their new phone, and the 4 pack is great for anyone who may need more than one protector.

The Insignia Hard-Shell case for the iPhone 14 is overall a fairly decent case, I like the smiley face design and the case itself provides good protection without being too bulky. The product page says that it is "magnetic charging compatible" which is technically true, it can and does work when using traditional Qi charging or when using Apple MagSafe charging, the problem is when you try to use MagSafe accessories or if you use a MagSafe charger that doesn't lie flat. The case is too thick to provide full MagSafe compatibility meaning when you attempt to add MagSafe accessories or use a dash charger or desk charger that doesn't lie flat your iPhone won't even stay on. No force or pressure is required for your phone to slip out, it just does not have enough strength to even grip at all with this case on.
It is a shame that they didn't add a magnet into the case to help make it fully MagSafe compatible as most other cases that advertise magnetic charging compatibility do to make them fully work with MagSafe. If you are looking for a good protective case for your iPhone 14 and aren't concerned with having MagSafe compatibility then this is a good case for you, but if you want to use MagSafe then I can't recommend this at all for you.

The Twinkly - Square LED panels 5+1 combo pack is a customizable led panel kit that works with Alexa, Hey Google, Homekit, and some other smart homes, the app allows you to customize and create your own lighting arrangements with some premade ideas as well as the ability to create your own designs and you can even add 8-bit pixel artwork and GIFs giving the Twinkly Squares some amazing design potential. Each main panel (which this kit includes) is expandable with up to 15 expansion panels allowing you to make some really good sized designs. The lighting effects can be synced with either music or with your computer and gameplay using either Razer Chroma or Omen lighting.
This all sounds great on paper, the issue comes when you look at the size of each individual LED, each 16cm x 16cm panel only has a total of 64 LED lights which is not very many and this 5+1 pack does not feature enough LEDs to do even the most basic of designs since there just aren't enough LEDs to make a good design at this small size. If you look at Twinkly's marketing material either on their website or on the box itself you notice that each of the designs is using much more panels than the 6 included with this kit, and at the prices that each of the expansion kits is currently going for on their website, this very quickly becomes an expensive endeavor all in the sake of lighting. I feel that there are just too many options available to make this particular set a good investment with the way it is currently working, I would like to see them redesign this kit in the future to include more individual LED zones allowing for better customization and making it a much better value in my opinion. As it stands this kit is good for a bit of background lighting, as long as you keep basic designs and color patterns, but for making larger more elaborate designs you need a bunch more panels and I just can't recommend that.

The Jabra Enhance Plus Hearing Aids are a decent pair of OTC hearing aids usable by anyone with mild to moderate hearing loss. They are quite a bit larger than other OTC or prescribed hearing aids, they are more earbud sized than hearing aid sized, but rather than using replaceable batteries this uses rechargeable batteries that recharge using the included carrying case. Inside of the packaging are the case with hearing aids inside, a total of 6 different replaceable ear tips, charging cable, and documentation. The ear tips are available in a total of 3 different sizes with either a closed or vented design, the vented design is good if you feel like your voice is muted or if it sounds like you are in a enclosed space the vented tips help alleviate this feeling and allow you to hear your own voice more naturally.
My biggest complaint with these hearing aids is that they are more similar to earbuds with a "transparent" setting which allows you to hear background noise in an amplified manner, the one advantage that these have over earbuds is that you are able to customize a hearing profile that makes everything sound better for your particular hearing issues. What I don't like about them being more similar to earbuds is their size, these are smaller than most earbuds but are significantly larger than traditional hearing aids. You can use these as just regular earbuds since they are connected to your phone, I was not impressed with the sound quality though as it all sounded a bit muddled compared to my usual earbuds.
The one thing to be aware of is the fact that these are only usable with iPhone devices with it requiring an iPhone 11 or later specifically as it leverages Apple's new hearing aid accessibility settings and these are only available on newer iPhones apparently. This allows compatible hearing aids, such as the Jabra Enhance Plus, to work like Apple's earbuds with device handoff and system sounds being played through your hearing aids so that you can hear them more easily as they will play through your hearing aid like traditional earbuds.
Overall, these are not bad devices, but if you are looking for more traditional hearing aids these probably aren't the best pick, but if you want earbuds that can double as hearing aids then these would be a great recommendation for you.

The Sony CRE-C10 Self-Fitting OTC Hearing Aids are an excellent product for anyone looking for OTC hearing aids and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for hearing aids for mild to moderate hearing loss. These Sony hearing aids are FDA cleared and are a great option for anyone who is starting to have hearing issues and isn't quite at the point of needing hearing aids from a doctor, or for those who have had hearing aids prescribed previously but only have mild or moderate hearing loss and don't want to pay the prices for the doctor visits and prescription aids.
Included in the packaging is the case with hearing aids, a total of 4 self-fitting sleeves, 6 batteries, care tools, and documentation. The jewel case is super small with enough room for the hearing aids as well as spare batteries and possibly some of the cleaning tools so that they are all at hand when needed, the included sleeves make it easy to get a good fit regardless of ear size, and the fact that a pack of batteries is included is very nice as you can get this and begin using it immediately without having to make a trip to get batteries.
Setup involves downloading the app, available on Apple and Google stores, once you have the app it will check for updates for the hearing aids and then guide you through personalizing your hearing profile. Once you have completed the hearing profile and set your preferred volume you really don't need the app anymore except to occasionally check for updates, so you could theoretically have someone help you set these up and you should be good unless you need to adjust your hearing profile at a later date then you can just go through the process again. The hearing aids themselves are practically invisible as they fit well into your ear canal and the quality was really good and worked well for me. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for OTC hearing aids and I will continue to use these as they are exactly what I need.

The Astro Gaming A30 Gaming Headset is an excellent headset and I fully recommend it to anyone who is looking to upgrade to a wireless gaming headset. This particular model comes with the USB wireless transmitter that is designed for PC and the Xbox, there is another model available that comes with the transmitter built for the PS5 if that is what you want, if you happen to have both a PS5 and Xbox you can buy the USB transmitter separately according to the packaging so you can hook up to multiple systems. Speaking of connections, the Astro A30 has multiple methods of connecting and multiple connections can be used simultaneously and can be mixed using the multi-function control. The available connections are the USB wireless transmitter, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm audio port, again you can actually hook up all 3 of these connections at the same time and adjust their levels using the control on the headset.
Fit and finish are pretty great in my opinion, it is built out of plastic, but it all seems fairly strong and durable and seems like it will last quite a long time. The detachable boom mic is nice, although I prefer the built in microphone that is in the headset, but if you like to have a mic closer to your mouth that is an option. There is an app available for further customization, I chose not to use the app as I do not like installing one-off apps on my phone for every little thing that comes out nowadays, I would prefer a Windows program that allows me to customize my headset experience, but I can also see the use of the phone app as this headset is also meant to be used with consoles. I really like the included carrying case as it makes it easy to keep the headset and all of the parts in one area without having to worry about losing parts.
Overall, I really like the Astro Gaming A30 gaming headset and would recommend it for anyone looking to get a good gaming headset for the computer or consoles, just make sure you get the correct version depending on your console of choice.

Much improved over the previous Galaxy Watch4

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro is a great improvement over my previous Watch4. The Pro version has many features aimed at outdoor activities and is much more rugged and with longer battery life than the 4. Samsung ditched Bixby and added Google Assistant in it's place which makes this a much better and easier to use watch than the previous version.
The Watch5 Pro is much bigger than my previous Watch4, but with this bigger size comes a longer lasting battery and a much more rugged watch body. I like all of the additional outdoor and health features that are added with this watch and it makes it easy to get outdoors and have some fun and be able to track your progress and keep track of your health. The larger display makes it much easier to write on the screen when texting or making notes and the speak to type seems to be work MUCH better than my previous Watch4. I have also had way less freezing and overall the Watch5 just seems faster and more responsive than my previous watch.
I would highly recommend this to anyone that uses a Google phone and the tight integration with Samsung makes this an excellent choice for anyone using a Samsung phone.

Great video doorbell, improved over the prior gen.

The 2nd gen wired Nest Doorbell is a great improvement over the previous generation of Nest doorbells. My sister has the wireless gen 1 doorbell and the picture, audio, and night vision quality on this new gen 2 wired doorbell are greatly improved over the earlier version. The new smaller size of the doorbell and the included wedge kit make it easy to install this doorbell in most doorways quickly and easily.
The step-by-step instructions for installing the doorbell are easy to follow and are available inside of the Google Home app when adding the doorbell as a device. It takes you through all of the steps for installing the doorbell including the steps required for wiring up the chime adapter depending on the configuration of your homes chime. One thing to note is that unlike other wired video doorbells that completely bypass your home chime and make it necessary to have an external chime, the Nest Doorbell just hooks into your existing chime allowing you to power the doorbell and still have your original house chime still working. This is not entirely clear in the instructions as it states that you need either a Nest Hub or one of the Nest speakers to have notifications, this is not entirely true as long as your existing house chime works you can still get the doorbell sound, however, if you want the smart notifications where the doorbell announces who is at the door, you will need either the Hub or a speaker for that functionality.
The best thing about the Google Nest Doorbell is the fact that basic functionality is NOT locked behind a paywall, all of the smart features are included out of the box with the only exception being familiar face detection and the length of video history that you can save varying on which Nest Aware subscription you have. So if you don't want to pay an additional monthly cost after buying this doorbell you will have the included intelligent alerts, activity zones, and 3 hour event history. If you want additional event history length as well as the familiar face detection you will need to pay for a subscription but as long as you are fine without those you can buy this doorbell and be happy knowing that it works straight out the box (after installing) with no subscription required.

What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
I am interested in putting together a wireless network. I understand that WPA, WEP, WEP2, and TKIP have been compromised. What is the current standard for secured WI-FI?
WPA and WPA2 are still the most used security standards used and as long as you are not using a weak short password and instead use a longer more secure password (letters, numbers, and symbols), it is still a very secure standard. However, on routers that have WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) enabled, it can be used as a backdoor into your network through brute force. On most routers this is easily disabled, and in my opinion unnecessary on your own home network, but on other routers it is unable to be disabled leaving a way for your network to be hacked into. As with all security it is impossible to create a system that will not at some point be circumvented with enough time and patience, however for networking security standards WPA is still the best and safest option due to the enormous amount of time and effort involved with actually hacking into it if a good password is used.
As a note if you have any devices using WEP replace them as soon as possible since it is a matter of minutes to hack into devices using that method of security.
