Easy Install and Fast Operation
on February 25, 2021
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
This latest version of the Eufy Smart Lock Touch adds Wi-Fi, and by doing so knocks it out of the park. It delivers all the features that were arguably missing in the previous version because it lacked wifi.
INSTALLATION
The hardest part of the installation process was removing my old lock. It had been on the door for so many years that I had to knock it off with a light hammer tap. Once that was removed, I followed the install manual. The packaging is well done and parts are clearly numbered to identify the step they will be used in.
Install tip #1: The lock’s rechargeable battery comes 30% charged. Charge it fully before inserting it, which takes about 6 hours. A fully charged battery is supposed to last 1 year.
Install tip #2: Download the Eufy Security app before installing the lock. The app has an overview video of the install process, which can also be found on Eufy’s YouTube channel.
APP SETUP
Once the lock is installed, the app will guide you through a calibration process. Next, you'll set up your PIN and fingerprint. To add your fingerprint, you simply touch the sensor 8 times in different positions to get a full imprint. From there, you can dive into additional features and give access to others in your household.
The install and setup process took 20 to 30 minutes as this was the first time I’ve changed my door lock. The instructions are straightforward as long as you follow them step by step. The only tool needed is a cross-tip screwdriver. I had zero issues aligning all the parts and putting in the screws.
Once the lock is installed and setup, there’s a lot to like about it.
PROs
• BHMA Grade 2 certified. This lock is solid and drill proof. That’s certainly the first thing I’d look for in any lock.
• IP65 waterproof rating will let it withstand the elements.
• Wifi is built in. Some locks work only on Bluetooth and require an external bridge to attach to your wifi. That’s not necessary here.
• Alexa and Google Assistant compatible.
• 6 ways to unlock: fingerprint, PIN, app via wifi, app via Bluetooth, Voice assistant, or physical keys.
• Fast fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader is as fast as any I’ve ever used. It’s a lot like the readers on iPhones and just as quick. You can, of course, register multiple fingerprints for yourself and others.
• Individual PINs for users. You must assign every user a unique 4 to 8 digit PIN. The PINs can be always active, active on a schedule, or active temporarily for the number of days you want. This is perfect for dog sitters, cleaning staff, guests, etc. And, of course, you can turn off a user’s PIN code whenever you want. The system logs door entries by user.
• 10,000mAh lithium battery should last a year before needing to be recharged. The app has a battery meter, but if you don’t get a chance to charge it before it’s drained, you can use a power bank with a micro-USB cable to power the lock. And if that’s not available, the kit also includes several backup physical keys.
• Magnet proof. If someone tries to use a strong magnet to open the door, the lock automatically locks.
• Built-in open door sensor. The lock senses when the door is ajar without needing to install additional parts, unlike some other locks.
• Lighted keypad. The keypad is very bright for night use.
CONs
• No one-time use PIN codes. Though you can schedule PINs to expire, you can’t set a PIN to expire after a single use (or any other frequency). This would be handy let a delivery man, for example, leave a package.
• Cannot re-use your existing lock keys. Since the entire lock and deadbolt is replaced, the keys for your old lock will not work.
• It’s not obvious how to use a PIN to unlock. You first have to activate the keypad by touching any key and waiting a half second for the pad to light up. Then enter your PIN, followed by pressing the button with the checkmark. If you assign a PIN to a guest, you’ll have to let them know how to use it. Fortunately the fingerprint method requires nothing more than placing your finger on the reader.
• No camera or doorbell function. I would really like to have seen this added as a feature.
• Brightness level is not adjustable. It’s quite bright at night. It would have been nice to be able to adjust the brightness, just as you can with the alert volumes.
OTHER
• Scramble passcode. If you use a PIN to unlock, you may be worried about someone nearby seeing your code. Or, more importantly, you may be worried about leaving fingerprints on the keypad hinting at your PIN. This feature allows you to add random digits before and/or after you enter your PIN to obfuscate the actual code. The scrambled code must be 12 digits max including your code inside of it. Of course, if someone gets your entire scramble, it can be used to unlock the door since your code is in it anyway. So the scramble is useful mostly to keep your fingerprints from giving clues. Personally, I use the fingerprint or app since they’re so much quicker.
• The backup physical keys have an unusual shape. If you need to make more copies, I doubt that automatic key machines can handle it. You’ll likely have to visit a locksmith.
Eufy has done a great job with the upgrade. If you’re looking for a smart lock that’s easy to install and easy to use, this one should be on your shortlist.

Good Option

This GE 2-speed immersion blender is a good general purpose stick blender. At 500 watts, it’s powerful enough for most smoothies, stews, and soups.
PROs
• Long shaft that reaches the bottom of deep pots. That’s very helpful when cooking large quantities of soups and stews. One caveat to this is if you have a low exhaust fan over your stove (like microwaves with exhaust fans underneath in many apartments), the length could be a little cumbersome.
• Easy to operate with two buttons, one for each speed. You must keep the button pressed to run the blender; letting the button go will turn it off.
• The chopping container has a rubber bottom that does a nice job of helping keep it secure on the countertop. Other blenders I’ve owned had containers that tended to slip a lot. This one is well designed.
• To connect the attachments to the handle, there’s a twist lock mechanism instead of a snap lock used by some other brands. The twist lock feels more secure but can be tricky to engage until you get used to it.
CONs
• A variable speed would have been nice. There are times, such as when whisking, when you want to slowly mix first, then increase to a blending speed.
• You can forget which speed button is low versus high. It would be nice if each button had a different texture or other distinguishing feature.
I’ve made a few smoothies so far and they’ve turned out excellent. The blender does not generate as much foam as another brand I own, so it’s well suited for denser foods like soups, shakes, etc… All in all this GE immersion blender will serve you well.

Solid Performer

The Yamaha SR-B20A is a solid basic sound bar. This sound bar is inexpensive, doesn’t have a lot of frills, and delivers good sound.
• Simple operation – no wifi, which means it has no voice assistant like Alexa or Google. But it does have Bluetooth so you can stream music from you phone or other devices to the sound bar.
• Optional app mimics the included remote control. The app gives better visual cues of the settings so recommend using that, especially as the settings on the sound bar only have LED lights - see attached screenshot.
• The LED lights have three settings: Off, Low and High. One quirk is when you toggle the dim settings on the remote or app, it takes two to three seconds for the sound bar to make the adjustment. Because everything else is instant, you might think the dim button doesn’t work, but give it a few seconds.
• Two built-in sub woofers are excellent and can sometimes even feel too bassy.
• Overall sound is excellent for small to medium sized rooms. I especially like the Clear Voice setting that emphasizes speech.
• The sound bar itself has a small profile and sizes nicely with my 43” TV. It can also be mounted if needed.
• Quick start guide is included in the box and the full manual can be downloaded from Yamaha’s website.
This sound bar should be on your short list.

Good General Use Laptop
on January 4, 2021
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
The ASUS Q528EH laptop is a capable machine for school or office use. Overall I give it just under 4 stars due to a 1080p resolution screen and 720p resolution camera, both of which should have been spec'd higher for the price.
PROs
• Nice keyboard with numeric keypad. Feel is comfortable without being noisy.
• Screen bezel is minimal, making the laptop relatively compact for a 15" screen
• Excellent battery life. Easily lasted 7 hours+ for general email and browsing.
• Harmon Kardon speakers deliver an excellent sound.
• ASUS MyLink software allows you to pair your phone to the laptop to make/receive calls and texts, transfer files and more. Most functions work on both iOS and Android.
CONs
• Screen resolution of 1980 x 1080 feels dated for a 15". Even if just using for office or school work, you'll find some fonts don't render smoothly compared to a screen with higher resolution.
• Camera resolution is 0.9MP (1280 x 720). In today's world of Zoom meetings, it would have been nice to have a higher res camera.
• While the keyboard is excellent and allows for easy typing, the number pad uses half-sized keys. There seems to be enough room to have allowed for full size keys, though. Another 15" laptop I have is the same size footprint but includes a full size number keypad, as well dedicated keys for Page Up/Down, Home and End. The ASUS requires using the Fn key to access those navigation keys. If you do a lot of office or school work, you would appreciate those dedicated keys if you had them.
When on sale, this laptop is a decent value and should be on your short list. As long as you're not doing much graphics work or need to see perfect fonts, the 1080p screen resolution won't get in your way.

The best just got better with the new Nextbase 622GW 4K Dash Cam. With an abundance of new features and world’s firsts, the 622GW is the most accurate, powerful and highest image quality Dash Cam in the market today. Ultra-clear 4K recording at 30fps captures those all-important finer details, with recording at 1440p HD at 60fps or 1080p HD at 120fps for super slow motion available. An improved sensor ensures enhanced night vision on even the darkest roads. Image quality is at the forefront of the Dash cam revolution, with Image stabilization reducing vibrations from your vehicle and improving footage clarity. Another first for Nextbase is Extreme Weather Mode, to provide a clearer image in misty conditions using special defogging algorithms, crucial for winter and night-time driving. The 622GW is the world’s first Dash Cam to include what3words. This provides your exact location to a 3m square location without the need for a data connection, crucial for emergency services to precisely locate you. Coupled with Emergency SOS and Alexa Built-In, the 622GW shows its further ahead the field with technology advancements. Increased connectivity for transferring footage to your mobile phone is key with new built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and Hyper-Sync Wi-Fi 5GHz speeds are up to 10x faster. This ensures syncing times with the MyNextbase Connect app (IoS 12.1 or later and Android 5.1 and up). The 622GW is compatible with any Nextbase Rear View Module, to offer-all around protection, whilst crucially maintaining front 4K image quality, with 1080p full HD rear recordings. The 622GW features all the much loved Nextbase features including Intelligent Parking Mode, high accuracy 10x GPS readings, a 3” HD IPS touch screen and the fully patented Click&Go PRO mount design, for the ultimate Dash Cam user experience. Note- For this product a U3 class Nextbase microSD card is required (Not included). The ability to maintain a high WRITE speed consistently is what Nextbase SD cards are designed to do better than any other SD card. Any drop/fluctuation in WRITE speed within the SD card causes the Dash Cam footage to buffer, and in some cases will stop the recording entirely. Our Nextbase SD card controller and Firmware on the SD card achieves the requirements from our Dash Cam, where other SD cards cannot. Due to the continuous recording and overwriting of the card, the SD card needs to be a high-endurance card, otherwise the card may develop faults after a period of time; if a lower-capability card is used, certain features on the camera will not fully function due to being unable to re-write and record. Nextbase has over 3 million dash cams sold, 115 unique patents, custom designed processors and improved sensors which record fast moving objects in perfect picture clarity for day and night time driving. Auto adjusts contrast and brightness to further improve the footage details in the event of an accident. Save time, money, and ease with Nextbase Dash Cams.

Great Image Stabilization with One Flaw
on December 7, 2020
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
The Nextbase 622GW is a nice upgrade to the 522GW. The most impressive feature on the 622GW is its 4K video combined with Enhance Image Stabilization (EIS). 4K with EIS by itself makes it worth the upgrade.
PROs
• Enhanced Image Stabilization (EIS). I was not expecting much from the image stabilization but it works really well. Footage is far smoother and less bumpy. It does a remarkable job keeping license plates and other text sharp. One tradeoff to EIS is max native resolution drops from 3840x2160 (4K) to 2704x1520, which is then upscaled back to 4K. Unless you’re trying to capture every original detail of a scenic drive, I would leave EIS turned on as it makes it easier to read plates in motion.
• Faster response with the iPhone Nextbase app. The 522GW was lethargic connecting to the app compared to the 622GW
• Fits seamlessly into the same mount as the 522GW. This meant that I did not have to install new wiring.
CONs
• The biggest con is the image has a red cast on it. The red cast is especially strong when facing the sun. I’ve been told by tech support that a future firmware update will fix this issue. Fortunately the cast only affects the overall color and not sharpness or other characteristics.
• A bit pricey relative to other brands
Bottom line is the clarity of the image stabilization should put this dash cam on your shortlist.

Great Value Android Phone
on November 21, 2020
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
The Google Pixel 4a 5G falls in between the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 in terms of features. If you don’t need all the bells and whistles of the Pixel 5, you can save some money with the 4a 5G. At the same time, it’s worth paying extra for the 4a 5G over the 4a. As the name implies, 5G capability is the most obvious upgrade over the 4a, but the real value is the excellent camera. It’s the same camera hardware and software that’s in the flagship Pixel 5.
PROs
• 2 cameras on the back plus 1 in front. It’s the same Pixel camera hardware and software as the flagship Pixel 5. Photos are excellent though a bit undersaturated and with less dynamic range than my iPhone 11 Pro (I know, unfair comparison).
• Headphone port which is great because my earbuds aren’t always charged and ready to go
• Large 6.2” screen yet doesn’t feel heavy
• Decent speaker sound for a phone
• Fingerprint sensor on the back
• 128 GB storage is standard
• 3 years worth of Android updates directly from Google
• Good price for the feature set
CONs
• No wireless charging
• No SD card slot for adding storage space
• Not water or dust resistant
• 60Hz refresh makes the display not as smooth as the 90Hz on the Pixel 5 (or 120Hz on higher end phones of other brands). This is noticeably mostly in action games. For general texting, email, web surfing, etc… you won’t notice it.
Since 5G is still in early rollouts and not available everywhere, the standout feature here is the camera. For most people, a general purpose phone with a good camera is all they really need. And the Pixel 4a 5G delivers on that.

Nice Upgrade with Trade-offs
on November 9, 2020
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
The Elite 85t is Jabra’s new flagship earbuds. This series comes with a slew of advancements, but with a couple of trade-offs. Specifically, the Elite 85t adds
• Active noise control. ANC is excellent and has no background hiss. ANC can be set at different levels and reduces battery life from 7 hours to 5.5 hours. Works great for white noises like wind when outside, appliance hums, and such.
• Multipoint connectivity. Multi point bluetooth allows two simultaneous connections. I wish this was a standard feature on all headphones and earbuds. With multipoint, I can use the earbuds with my iPhone for when I head outside, as well as with my laptop for Zoom calls. The earbuds will connect to both without having to disconnect from either. Sound is picked up from whichever device broadcasts first.
• Qi certified charging case. This is a very convenient way of charging the case if you have a Qi charging pad.
• 12mm drivers. This is an upgrade from the 6mm drivers in the 75t series, and deliver a richer sound.
Along with the above improvements, the 85t still give you
• High quality microphone. Listeners on the other end of my calls had no problem hearing me loud and clear.
• Jabra Sound+ app. The Jabra app is one of the best earbud apps I’ve used. It allows for a long list of customizations of equalizer, physical button controls, ANC, and ability to hear ambient sound. It will also customize the sound to your specific audio profile after giving you a quick hearing test. I especially like the ability to switch the equalizer with presets for different types of music or speech (like podcasts, phone calls, etc…).
• Ability to use the right earbud by itself. This is useful if, for example, you get a phone call and want to quickly go wireless. The left earbud connects only to the right one, not the device, so it cannot be used alone.
So what’s the trade-off?
Jabra has switched to what it calls a semi-open design by using oval tips instead of round ones. This means the buds don’t fit as snuggly as the 75t, offsetting some of the ANC and sound improvement from the larger 12mm drivers. The sound is still very good, but because more ambient noise gets in, it’s not as rich as it could be. Plus, the earbuds always feel like they might fall out, but never did in actual use, even during a light run. It takes a little getting used to. The benefit of this design is they should reduce the fatigue of wearing them for a long time because they don’t put as much pressure on your ears as round tips. I personally would rather have had round tips since I rarely wear the earbuds for more than 60 to 90 minutes.
Overall, I recommend these because of the new features. But your mileage may vary when it comes to fit with the new design.

A Sound Machine in Your Ears
on October 19, 2020
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
After a disastrous release of the original Sleepbuds, the engineers at Bose went back to the drawing board and have released Sleepbuds II. The first version used unproven battery technology that failed in the long run. The Sleepbuds II use a more standard battery, so should work as intended. The result is the Sleepbuds II addresses many of the shortcomings of version I, but doesn’t add any significant new features. Overall I give it 3.5 stars.
PROs
• The soft silicone eartips help keep the earbuds in place. The package includes 3 different sizes, and I ended up using a different size for each ear.
• When inserted properly, the seal does a nice job of reducing outside noise. They are not meant to completely eliminate noise. You will still hear loud interruptions like a heavy snoring partner, a baby crying, nearby car alarms, and so on. Depending on your sensitivity, these interruptive sounds may wake you, even though they are reduced and masked.
• The charging case does a better job of making contact with the earbuds than version I, so you are better assured that the case is actually charging the buds.
• Charge port is now USB-C, which should make it quicker to charge.
• The buds connection to the mobile app is snappier and more reliable than version I. In particular, transferring new sounds to the buds is lightyears faster.
• There is a decent, though not extensive, variety of sounds. They range from nature to meditative to white noise-like.
• You can set an alarm to wake you, which means you can avoid bothering your sleep partner as when you use an external alarm.
• Unlike version I, there is no background clicking noise.
CONs
• The buds are slightly larger than version I. Depending on the pillow and angle of my head, these can put pressure on my ears. Version I was exceptionally comfortable compared to these.
• You can let these play all night (10 hour battery life), or you can set a timer. But oddly the timer has only predefined lengths and does not let you enter your own amount – makes no sense why this is missing. The predefined timers settings are 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, 1.5 hrs, 2 hrs, 4 hrs, 6 hrs, and 8 hrs.
• The alarm volume can be faded in so as to not jar you awake. But there is no corresponding fade out function to reduce the volume over the course of the night. I find myself setting the volume a bit high to better mask sound, but would like to fade the volume after a certain amount of time. Otherwise I wake up after a while because the sound is too loud.
• There’s still no way to add your own sounds, or to customize the included ones. For example, I prefer lower frequency white noise, like brown noise.
• There’s no way to mix the sounds. You may want to start with meditative music and cross over into white noise. No way to do that here.
• Volume can only be changed through the app and not by using the volume buttons of the iPhone (not sure if this is different on Android). Again, when the sound is too loud and I'm awakened in the middle of the night, I can’t just use the volume buttons on my iPhone to reduce the sound. I have to pick up the phone and use the app which is more disruptive.
All in all, the Sleepbuds II seem to be designed to fix the frailties of version I. On that front, mission accomplished. I hope Bose will now really step up with firmware and software updates to let the functionality blossom.

A Whole Latte Love
on October 12, 2020
Posted by: ricks
from SF Bay Area
Now that so many people are working from home, a lot of people are looking for a high quality coffee machine for home since they’re not caffeinating up at their favorite café. If you’re considering this machine, then you likely know what a good cup of coffee tastes like. And, you’re also probably wondering what you get by spending this much versus less. Well, until now, I’ve been using another manufacturer’s espresso maker that retails for around $800, so can give you some comparison. The bottom line is this De'Longhi Dinamica makes excellent espresso drinks, looks sleek, and would be a great add to any kitchen. Overall I give it 4.5 stars, losing a half star because it could use better documentation.
PROs
• Set up is simple and the machine comes fully assembled. Like many espresso makers, a litmus strip is included to adjust the machine to your water’s hardness.
• The LCD outputs text so you don’t have to decode blinking lights like our other coffee maker.
• There’s a bean hopper bypass that lets you make a cup of coffee with pre-ground beans different that what’s in the hopper. This is useful, for example, if you want to make a cup of decaf. And, if you make a Long coffee using the bypass, the machine will run the brew cycle once, then prompt you to add more grinds for a second cycle. With our other machine, you have to manually run through two cycles to get a Long when using its bypass.
• Drink strength or aroma has 5 levels of adjustment versus 3 for our other machine. This allows for a finer customization. I was able to find a better balance between acidity, fruitiness and bitterness with the same beans on the De'Longhi versus our other machine.
• There’s a greater variety of drinks available on the De'Longhi compared to our other machine. There are dedicated buttons for Espresso, Iced Coffee, Long, Cappuccino, Latte and Hot Milk (no coffee). Using the Drink Menu button, you also can pick from Coffee, Lungo, Ristretto, Double Espresso+, Cappuccino+, Cappuccino Mix, Latte, Macchiato, Flat White, Espresso Macchiato, 2 Espresso, 2 Lungo and Hot Water (no coffee). When Iced Coffee is selected, the coffee is made slightly stronger to offset the dilution from the ice. The Hot Milk option is nice in case you want to heat or froth milk without having coffee. Our other coffee machine does not froth milk without coffee, though it does have a hot water option.
• Both the De'Longhi and our other machine have rinse cycles upon startup and shutdown to clear out the brewing mechanism, or infuser as De'Longhi calls it. Though you can let the water pour into the drip tray, we prefer to catch it in glass so we don’t have to empty the drip tray as often. What surprised me was the rinse water from the De'Longhi is much clearer than the water from our other machine (see photo). Perhaps this is just because the other machine is older and so dirtier with grounds, even though we clean it weekly. We’ll see if the De'Longhi’s rinse changes, but for now it seems more efficient in extracting coffee from the beans.
• Standby time before the machine automatically shuts off is adjustable from 30 min to 3 hrs. This gives you a generous range so that you don’t have to restart the machine in between cups of coffee. Our other machine has a fixed unspecified standby timer of about 30 minutes or so. That means if I have a 1 hour Zoom meeting, I need to restart the machine again for the next cup, which not only takes a minute to do, but wastes water because it goes through its rinse cycles.
• The De'Longhi is easier to maintain than our other machine. It does not require periodic lubrication, and its infuser is recommended to be cleaned monthly. Our other machine requires monthly lubrication and weekly cleaning of its infuser. Also, the internals don’t get as dirty in the De’Longhi. When the infuser is pulled out of the De’Longhi, there are not many grounds spilled over in the inside. With our other machine, we have to sweep the inside weekly of spilled grounds. This probably goes hand-in-hand with why its rinse water is also dirtier.
• De'Longhi’s milk container can be stored with milk in the fridge. This is much more more convenient than our other machine whose milk container must be washed after every use.
• Lastly, the De'Longhi is quieter (though not necessarily quiet) compared to our other machine. Plus, its bean grinding sound is not as harsh to the ear.
CONs
• Documentation is a let down. There is no description of what the drinks mean or how they are made by the machine, which may or may not be what you’re used to from a café. For example, what’s the difference between a Double Espresso+ and 2 Espresso? And then there’s a Cappuccino Mix in the manual, but does not show up on the machine as an option. Many cafes use a double shot of espresso as the standard when ordering an Americano. Coffee, which is the equivalent of Americano in the De'Longhi, however, is made with a single shot. On the other hand, Long is made with two shots using two brew cycles, but has less overall water than a Coffee. De'Longhi really needs documentation or a website explaining what their drink definitions are so I can compare them to my favorite café.
• Speaking of drink definitions, the directly selectable drink buttons on the machine only have icons, no labels. It’s easy to forget what they mean. We’ve had to print out a menu and keep it by the machine to remind us. The buttons start making the drink as soon as you press them. Since there are no button descriptions, it might have been better if the first press brings up the button’s label, and a second press starts the drink. Our other machine has labels.
• The milk frother works better than the one on our other coffee maker, but the milk or foam does not get as hot as I’d like in either one. This is likely to avoid getting scalded milk in the internal mechanism. If you’re serious about milk foam, you’ll want a separate steamer or frother that gives you more control.
• The water container has a max fill line but really needs a min fill line as well. A couple of times now I've started making a drink thinking there’s enough water, only to have the machine pause and ask me to add water.
So is the De’Longhi as good as my favorite café? The coffee itself is excellent and on par after some experimentation with beans, aroma strength, and grind setting. I certainly prefer the froth and foam from a café, though. What about compared to our $800 machine from another brand? Arguably yes, though neither makes a bad cup. What you get by spending more for the De’Longhi is a higher level of customization, a greater variety of drinks, a more modern appearance, less maintenance, and no irritating grinder noise. If it’s in your budget, it’s well worth getting.

Bose Sport Earbuds are good choice to consider if you’re looking for in-ear headphones to wear while exercising, and you don’t need or want to pay a premium for active noise canceling. If you do want active noise canceling, Bose makes a QuietComfort version of these. That said, when inserted properly, these Sport Earbuds do a nice job of minimizing outside sound.
PROs
• Excellent sound quality, as you would expect from Bose.
• Very comfortable. Like many ear buds, it can take a little fussing to properly insert. But the soft ear tips keep the earbuds in place.
• 5 hour battery life, plus 10 hours in the case. You can also charge for 15 minutes to get 2 hours worth of battery life.
• In-ear detection allows you to remove the right earbud to automatically pause playback. Inserting the right earbud also automatically continues playback and answers calls. This setting can be turned off.
• Microphone during phone calls projected my voice loud and clear.
CONs
• There’s no way to increase the ambient sound, say if you want to listen for traffic. Other brands have features that let you pick up environmental sound when needed.
• Sound adjustment is not possible. So if you’re listening to rap versus rock or even a podcast, the built-in sound profile cannot be altered. Other earbuds in a similar price range let you customize the output through an equalizer or sound profile.
• Touch controls do not let you adjust the volume. You can control playback, answer/reject calls, and activate Siri, Google, Bixby etc., but to change volume, you have to do that with your device.
• The left earbud has a customizable touch control, but there are only two choices: skip a track or check battery level.
What these earbuds do, they do very well: excellent sound and comfortable fit. But I knocked off 1 to 1.25 stars for not being as feature-rich as other earbuds in the same price range.

Is there an App to set the equalizer?

The app currently does not have an equalizer function. Not sure if they plan to add this functionality in the future, but would be nice.

Sleep better. Cover unwanted noise with soothing sounds. Bose noise-masking sleepbuds™ are uniquely designed for sleep. They don’t stream music or have acoustic noise cancellation. Instead, these tiny, wireless earbuds use pre-loaded, soothing sounds to cover up unwanted noises, so you can get to sleep — and stay asleep. Plus, unlike traditional earplugs, they’re super comfortable and made to stay in place all night long, even if you sleep on your side. 1. Choose your sound, 2. Set an alarm, 3. Fall asleep without unwanted noise.

How well do these work for silencing out loud snoring from your bed partner?

The volume of the sleepbuds can be turned up pretty high, so as to cover up the snoring. But then the question is can you sleep with loud sound playing in your ears? These are not earplugs – they do not reduce external sounds, they only mask them.

Create incredible images every day, anywhere with Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. Get the magic of Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC, plus everything else you need to organize, enhance, and share your photos like a pro on your desktop and mobile devices.

With this program, can you make flyers, posters and layouts? crop your photos also?

The short answer is yes, you can do all of those things. Note that Lightroom and especially Photoshop are like "Swiss Army Knives." They are powerful editing tools designed for many different functions and activities. That means you won't find a simple setting for "make a flyer," and so on. But if you take the time to learn the software (which admittedly can take some time), it will more than deliver what you’re asking.
