Perfect for little hands!

We have been looking for a better toothbrush for our little for a long time. That being said, the regular Sonicare toothbrushes are way too big and strong doe kids’ teeth and gums.
The Philips One has the same structure, just downsized. The handle is slimmer, and the base is a fun shape to hold the toothbrush. The head of the toothbrush is removable to allow for cleaning, drying, and sanitation, which helps prevent the mold forming underneath.
Automatic two minute timer makes it really easy for our son to know how long he needs to brush for. Unlike some of the higher end Sonicare toothbrushes that monitor via an app to make sure you hit every part of your teeth and apply the right technique, you don’t get that kind of feedback with the Philips One. And that’s okay. We aren’t looking for something that fancy, and for the target age, I doubt any kids would actually care nor follow an app to optimize their brushing.
We got the light blue color, and our boy is happy with the color.
One button activation to turn on/off. Simple.

Budget priced monitor punching above its wt class

The ASUS VG279Q3A is an updated monitor in their TUF line of gaming peripherals. Technically, TUF represents their mid line, compared to their higher tier ROG line. That’s definitely not to say the quality is subpar, the intent and design are slightly different. Kind of like Toyota vs Lexus. Still plenty of quality, just minus the extras.
Like all recent IPS gaming screens, this has a fast 180 mHz 1 ms response time, so you don’t need to worry about screen tear during games.
The 27 in screen is nice and big, and color templates can be switched around for the viewing purpose. One thing I would critique is that there is no ability to adjust the height of the monitor. I’m guessing ASUS engineers felt like given the 27 in screen size, people wouldn’t need to lift it much, but in my case, the way my desk is set up, I wanted to be able to raise the top of the screen about 2 in. Easily fixed by placing on a riser, but still.
Other than that, with the FHD resolution, it was crisp playing PS5 and as a screen for my docked laptop.
Fast, big IPS screen that gives you a ton of bang for your buck

Mop and vacuum with smart navigation

TL; DR: I can’t believe how well the Eufy X10 Pro Omni works. It seamlessly switches between mop and vacuum going over our living room flooring and then rugs, and then the carpet in the rooms.
The base is wider and deeper than other self-cleaning vacuums due to the additional bin for waste water, but the unit is still fairly compact and doesn’t stand out in our house.
Up front, the only - absolutely nitpicking here - negative I have found is that the waste water bin is small. So as the X10 makes multiple return trips to dump dirty water and refill, the waste water bin gets full really quickly. Granted, given its dirty water, you would want to dump it frequently to prevent mildew and nasty odors, but I still found it somewhat annoying to have to dump multiple times.
Reall other than that, I can’t say enough good things. The directional sensors are smart enough that I never once saw the X10 bump its nose into furniture or walls, and even looking at the marks, there weren’t any missed spots on the flooring nor on the rug despite going back and forth.
This makes cleaning so much easier. My wife absolutely loves this addition to our home.

High quality sound and stay put even when running

These earbuds are literally packed with lots of the newest tech features. Hybrid dual drivers provide dedicated signaling unlike cheaper buds with a single driver to push all your bass and treble. Independent functioning so you can use one earbud seamlessly. USB C dongle actually docks into the case magnetically so you don’t have to search for it.
The case is a little bigger than most of my other earbuds, likely because of the extra room for the dongle. However, the feel is premium with a cool magnesium alloy and flat rubberized base that stands up straight.
The battery life is rated for 56 hours. I didn’t run the batteries all the way down, but I have been able to get a week of listening to podcasts during runs now without requiring a recharge.
The best part for me personally is that the buds don’t fall out even when I’m running. I’ve never had to readjust the buds in my ears during a run. The silicon and foam tips were both comfortable, but I found the silicon seems to seal a little better for me so I’ve been using those.
One con is that the magnets in the case to hold the buds are quite strong, so much that it took some getting used to the first few times trying to remove them. Coupled with a tapered contour on the buds, and basically there’s little surface area for you to get traction, plus the taper means your fingers sort of slide off. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of so you’re not surprised.
Function and form are both fantastic

Drop and play

As much as I would like to maintain a physical only library for my PS5, the convenience of pre-loading games and not having to swap out discs is unfortunately too convenient for me.
Which means that given most PS5 titles, especially AAA games, require easily 100 GB or more, my disc drive PS5 ran out of space pretty regularly.
The Crucial T500 with heat sink was designed with the Ps5 in mind, and adds a very welcome 2 GB of extra memory.
Installation: directions included with a QR code to scan for details. If you’ve never opened your PS5 casing, I’d recommend actually watching a quick YouTube video to get a visual description of where and how to apply pressure. It’s not hard, but it can feel like you’re putting too much pressure on in order to get the “pop” of the cover. Once the case cover is removed, you simply move the riser and screw to 80 and slot the memory stick in. Very very easy.
Performance: I didn’t run the memory stick on my PC to get a full diag, but from real world use, I loaded COD MW 3 and I didn’t notice any difference. Crucial specs state the T500 is capable of up to 7,400/7,000MB/s sequential read/write speeds, but again, from use, I didn’t see any slowdown. I also didn’t feel like games loaded up much faster, so it’s probably on par with the stock memory speeds.
Overall a very easy solution to increasing your PS5 memory capacity.

Not just for PC

My man cave was in need of a sound upgrade, as the TV speakers weren’t doing the rest of my setup justice.
The Razer Nommo V2 Pro box came neatly packaged with just the right amount of material to protect the speaker without having a bunch of needless cardboard. Seems like a dumb detail, but to me, it was clearly thought out and purposeful.
Setup instructions were very straightforward, with each speaker cable appropriately labeled “Left” and “Right” - then you plug them into the equally rationally labeled “Left” and “Right” jacks. So simple. Plug the power cable in, and boom ready to go.
Razer is synonymous with PC equipment, but the Nommo V2 Pros are also advertised to be compatible with PS5 and Switch. Really, you can either USB direct wire or you can use Bluetooth, so it’s pretty widely compatible.
Standard for PC peripherals, there are RGB lights at the back of the directional speakers which you can adjust. They’re not obnoxiously bright, but luckily the lights are customizable.
Sound quality wise, you get spatial surround sound and the wireless subwoofer for bass. Very happy.

Solid personal alarm with connected features

The Swann Active Response is roughly the size of a battery, so it’s still fairly discrete. The alarm comes with two carry options: a neck lanyard and a metal keyring.
Setup: you’ll be prompted (required) to install the Swann app in order to set up your device. The instructions insert has a handy QR code you can scan to lead you directly to the app, or they also provide the physical name with the instructions to download. Via the app, you’ll set your emergency contact(s) that will be notified when you push your alarm button. You also have the option to upgrade your plan to a paid version which adds contacting the police when you push your button. Very simple and intuitive process all run through the app with clear instructions.
Operation: the red button on top is the only activator for the mechanisms. It has a lock and unlock position to help prevent accidentally contacting your emergency contact(s) +/- the authorities depending on whether you opt to upgrade to your plan. The silver loop serves as the attachment point for the lanyard or keyring, but also is used to help twist the button to lock/unlock, as well as to pull the button up to initiate the loud alarm. The lock/unlock is definitely necessary to prevent accidentally calling the police if you have the upgraded plan, but my wife had a pretty hard time pulling the button to set off the alarm. When I attached the metal keyring, she as able to use that to have a better grip and activate the device much easier.
With the state of the world, this acts as an additional layer of protection to give us peace of mind when she goes out for a run or whatnot, but should not take the place of good old common sense.

Good old photoshop but automated for newbies

Adobe has moved past their physical media (discs) to an all digital format, which makes sense given I can’t remember the last time I saw a new computer or laptop being sold with a disc drive.
That being said, this also means there are multiple layers to Adobe products now - before, for Lightroom or PS you would just insert the disc and install. Done. Start using. Now, you have to have or create an Adobe account, which syncs all your apps and programs. To install Photoshop Elements, you log into your Adobe account and then use the redemption code. Once you’ve done so, you are now ready and able to start editing.
The user interface and layout overall seems much cleaner and simpler compared to past versions. Returning users that upgraded will note a few changes, namely the previous “expert” mode is now relabeled under the “advanced” tab.
Many common editing options are automated, after which you can fine tune/adjust as desired. For iPhone photography or creating our holiday cards, the default AI-produced edits worked surprisingly well. For example, removing backgrounds to create a clean image was unnoticeable from what would be produced by manually cutting and making layers.
PSE 2024 is a nice easy option that will cover 90% of my day to day editing needs, and much faster too with the incorporation of AI. Amazing times.

Very sophisticated scale

This has to be the absolute most sophisticated scale that I have ever used.
I’ve owned scales that measured body fat and body composition before, but the Withings seems to be more consistent.
The scale comes nicely packaged, no assembly required. Upon turning on the scale, you will be prompted to set up a Withings account and then to pair the Body Scan scale with your Withings account. The whole setup process was fairly straightforward, with clear on screen prompts.
Once paired, the scale will remember you, which seems to be based mostly off the weight. The first measurement the scale take is always the weight, and the next screen will show the name that the scale thinks is currently using it. I had no issues with the scale automatically recognizing when myself or my wife were using it, and it always chose the right user. Additional measurements are where this scale sets itself apart. As you hold the handle, it then calculates your body fat percentage, muscle percentage, vascular age, and electrodermal activity. Vascular age is a measurement that supposedly monitors how healthy/pliable your blood vessels are for your age range. The EDA, according to the app explanation, measures electrical activity in your feet and sweat glands which can then be used as an indirect measure of stress/anxiety. I don’t quite understand the science behind this, but luckily my measurements were always in the normal range.
No scale will ever be 100% accurate for measuring body fat composition, as many factors such as hydration levels can affect the readings. But it’s a quick and dirty method which is much faster and significantly cheaper than hydrostatic weighing, which is overkill for the average person. More important to me was the fact that the scale tracks your progress so you can clearly see trends.

excellent image quality and maneuvering

The Magic 3 Pro is the newest and shiniest member of DJI’s consumer drone line. Build quality and feel in hand is typical for DJI’s high end market, with the drone folding up nicely with a holster to keep the arms and rotors stable.
The beautiful screen on the controller makes initial setup so intuitively easy as it shows you a clear diagram of what to do step by step.
Once initialized, there was an initial firmware update required which began downloading immediately.
Then, onto flying. Controls were smooth and even despite some stronger gusts than usual here in Texas, the drone was extremely stable and manageable.
The biggest update for the Mavic 3 Pro is that there are 3 cameras. The primary camera is a Hasselblad 24 mm camera, which Hasselblad is a legendary name for all things photog. The two additional cameras are telephoto lenses which produced fine images, but for my uses (family videos and photos during our trip) the 70 mm camera seemed to hit the sweet spot on quality for both video and photos.
One nice feature that stuck out was that you could look up your flight zone and see if there are any restrictions on flying a drone.
Amazing quality, with a nice bag to hold everything. Won’t be able to step down to lower level drones after using this. Highly recommend.
