Let's begin with the inclusions: steelbook of the game, several ingame items, (including weapons & armor with their own buffs, and crates of consumables,) a nice dynamic theme for the PS4, and the amazingly detailed statue.
It's the statue of protagonist Aloy that's the real draw here. I don't often invest in Collector Editions for the statues outside of God of War &
Mortal Kombat- but have a few others. The Aloy statue doesn't feel cheap to just cash in; it's solid and heavy with detailing on par with the MK9 bookends of Sub-Zero & Scorpion; in fact, Aloy has displaced MK9 bookends as my favorite statue inclusion- it's gorgeous.
The game itself... Just wow! While you'll play a short section at the beginning of a 6 or 7 year old Aloy, she's so spunky you'll be hoping to see more of this version as a DLC adventure in the future.
The adult version of Aloy is every bit as interesting and tough as nails that you can't help but believe that if Nathan Drake has, in fact, taken part in his last adventure, that Sony has found its new mascot alongside Kratos.
The game world is one of the largest I've seen laid out, and considering how "alive" it feels with wildlife normally ignored by other games (geese, turkeys, raccoons, etc,) it has an immersion that's not been felt as of yet- watching tall grass sway organically as you move through it never grows old.
One of the things that always hurts in games with crafting involved, even if it is realistic, is the limited space for inventory. While space cap in other games is often very real, it often removes you from the fun of the gameplay when you need to stop in your tracks to harvest materials. While HZD doesn't have unlimited carrying space, it's much more forgiving; more starting space, ability to upgrade, plenty of resources nearby... it's still necessary, but not needlessly frustrating.
Same goes for the robotic wildlife-based enemies. They're challenging without being frustrating. You'll need to use some stealth (again, done to perfection- normally not a fan of huge stealth games,) to make your hunt easier, but not is all lost if stealth is broken. Enemies are tough, but with weak points, they're far from invincible, and still vulnerable even when not hitting those weak areas.
And that seems to be a hallmark of HZD- challenge without absurdity to make it a false difficulty.
Guerrilla Games should be proud of what they've given fans with this new IP. They've found a balance that should be a benchmark for other companies to follow; but that's not all others should be envious of: a strong protagonist, a great story, a rich world with a thought-out history behind it, beautiful graphics, and rock solid gameplay and controls.
If the statue and extras aren't your cup of tea, you still owe it to yourself to get HZD; but know this... Every bit of attention to detail in the game is in the statue, she's beautifully crafted and would make a great addition even to a collection you haven't begun.

A tremendous band of badass heroes fight to protect the universe's very last star from a mysterious evil in this next-gen shooter by the creators of Borderlands. To defend it, you'll need to utilize every type of character and weapon you've ever imagined — from cyborg hawkmen to samurai vampires to mini-gun wielding man-mountains. Slash and parry, run and gun, cast and dash, or simply obliterate foes all while building and growing your personal team of heroes. Choose your hero and fight alone or co-operatively alongside friends in story missions, or battle against them in fast-paced competitive multiplayer matches.

Great game, bad timing
on January 17, 2017

I'll begin this by stating the following:
Prior to Battleborn, I had, in my long gaming career, never bothered with a MOBA or similarly styled game.
Going in, wasn't sure what to expect: the game's reviews were good, but let's face it- MOBAs aren't known for the most accepting of communities.
So, why did I buy?
Because of two things:
1) the price had dropped considerably, thanks to it competing, (unfairly) with Overwatch, released almost on top of each other. Between the price drop, a sale price, my Gamers Club discount, and Reward Zone certificates, it came to a total of $7 for me that day. Not a huge loss if I discovered I disliked the MOBA genre.
2) Unlike Overwatch, and most MOBAs, Battleborn came with a single player campaign. Had the multiplayer been a bad experience, I'd hoped to get enough play out of the campaign to cover the cost.
I can say the following; Battleborn is a victim of the Overwatch juggernaut. While they're two completely different game styles, the bulk of the public sees them both as first person competitive shooters featuring over the top characters. It's a shame, too, as I hope Battleborn doesn't end up the way of Evolve, not because of lack of interest, but due to mediocre marketing, public misunderstanding, and, as a result, not enough players.
The fact is, at current sale prices, Battleborn is worth every penny, even if multiplayer is something you rarely indulge in. I hesitate to say to buy it only for single player, but even if you never played a single multiplayer match, if you have a "collector mindset," you probably would get your money's worth.
The campaign is actually very well done, long enough, and filled with the laugh out loud moments that Gearbox (Best identified by their Borderlands series of games,) is known for.
Beyond that, as mentioned, the game can really hook you with trying to unlock characters, costumes, gear, and more- and it's spaced out in a way that feeds you just enough to keep pushing forward.
Multiplayer can vary from full out competitive modes to private matches, and if the campaign isn't enough to keep you playing for unlocks, the multiplayer will.
This has been a great year for multiplayer-centric shooting styled games, but unfortunately, Battleborn, much like another on that list, Titanfall 2, is underplayed largely due to there only being so many hours in a day and people having to choose between it and a powerhouse with a larger player base. (In the case of Titanfall 2, it was released practically alongside Battlefield 1). In both these cases, Titanfall 2 and Battleborn were largely loved by critics, it just came down to logistics of the release timing. I'd urge anyone and everyone, regardless of whether they own Overwatch or Battlefield 1, to give both Battleborn and Titanfall 2 the opportunity they deserve and add them to your library, then add them to your weekly gaming rotation. Both are new properties to PlayStation, and both are labor of love new IPs that need to be kept so they don't end up as "good ideas that didn't stick".
Both of these games have come down in price at Best Buy, and both together can be had for the cost of one new game- and they'll quickly grab your attention.

New Christmas Horror Classic
on December 23, 2016
Posted by: doc8998

Absolutely loved this film, much like the same crew's work on another holiday-themed horror film (with tongue planted firmly in cheek,) Trick R Treat.
If you've seen the aforementioned Trick R Treat, you know what to expect tonaly- there's genuine creepiness, and for each instance, there's also some laughs, often of the same instance in question.
In Krampus, we're introduced to Adam Scott and his family, who have an outward happiness, even if there's unhappiness just beneath the surface. His brother, played by frequent Will Ferrell collaborator, David Koechner, (playing a pseudo- "Cousin Eddie" of Vacation films role here- while never overreaching to rip-off territory,) comes with his family to spend the holidays, where their mother also lives.
Where Scott's family may hide their issues more successfully, his brother's family wear their issues as both badges of honor and suits of armor, and it takes digging to find their happiness buried below.
This brings it to something I normally can't stand in films... but is perfect in today's climate; not so subtle political statements. Where Scott is the democrat, Koechner is a gun-loving staunch republican. Like the story itself, it's all done tongue in cheek, and never becomes overbearing; much of what's said and done is for laughs. (Upon a knock on the door, and a present being left on the porch, as they wonder who left it, Koechner quips, "it must have been a Democrat".)
If anything, the political message here is one both sides should be able to agree on: when the chips are down, no matter what we believe, we're stronger working together. (If you even choose to follow through on the political clues throughout the film- as stated, this is far from a political movie, and both sides get their share of jokes in the film).
Of course, it's Scott's son, bullied by his sports-addicted female cousins, that has a crisis of his yearly letter to Santa. In a fit, he rips it up and the spirit of Krampus is personified, besting the Christmas spirit that he and his grandmother seemed to carry for the entire family.
What follows is a great Christmas film; much more one than horror or even comedy. It uses all of the genres it includes to make a great film about Christmas, family, and conflict... while remaining entertaining it's entire running time. And that's what's made Krampus great. You can view it in any way you choose, because each genre it represents, each message it sends is strong enough to watch it as an individual theme, or to just sit down and take it all in.
There's very little letdown here, with my only complaint being a lack of screen time... or screen time of impressiveness of the title character. When Krampus is seen, he's an impressive figure, but I wanted to see more- particularly because it wears a Santa mask that's never removed. As impressive as the rest of the creature is, I would have loved to see what the FX crew had dreamed up as its true face.
While I selected 5 stars, Krampus really should be 4 1/2. The minimal usage of Krampus was enough to leave me that 1/2 star disappointed.
I know what I'll be watching this Christmas!

As you take in the pleasant view outside your window, it's hard to fathom that it could all be swept away in the blink of an eye. For Artyom, however, there's no need to imagine — after the devastation of an apocalyptic event, the only hope for salvation lies in the darkness deep beneath Moscow in the underground. The Metro franchise introduced you to Artyom's world as you plunged into the survival horror genre with Metro 2033, then kept you riveted in the action-packed follow-up, Metro: Last Night. Now, get ready to return to the terror and brutality that defines this hellish world on a first-person shooter thrill ride that tests your will to survive in every way.Metro Redux includes Metro 2033, the terrifying first chapter of Artyom's struggle for survival in the ruins of his city, as well as Metro: Last Night, the heart-pounding continuation. The nightmare begins in Metro 2033 as Artyom, a survivor of an apocalyptic event 20 years in the past, is forced to leave the relative safety of Moscow's underground and emerge into a world populated by murderous mutants and full of toxicity and danger around every corner. As if the world outside wasn't horrific enough, Metro: Last Light brings the terror underground as Artyom struggles to save humanity as it perches on the edge of civil war and ultimate destruction. Struggle for survival armed only with homemade weapons and your trusty gasmask as you fight your way through two action-saturated campaigns with all-new melee animations, plus hours of thrilling DLC. Immerse yourself in the bleak world of post-apocalyptic Moscow with stunning imagery rendered in silky smooth 60 fps, as well as new lighting, physics, dynamic weather effects and full-body player animations. Take charge with improved AI, controls and weapon handling and easily check your watch and ammo supplies on the fly. Prepare yourself for slow-burning intensity in Survival mode, or duke it out in brutal combat in Spartan mode. Rise to the ultimate challenge as you wage deadlier battles with fewer resources and without the benefit of HUD or UI in Ranger mode. The odds are bad and the stakes are high — do you have what it takes to save what's left of the world?

Return to the world of Metro

This Metro Redux 2-pack is great.
Set in a post-apocalyptic Russia, Metro is a first person shooter that finds survivors living largely underground in Russia's Metro stations. Above ground, monstrosities prowl a poisonous, destroyed earth. Currency is bullets, and gas mask filters are a must. It's a dark, bleak, depressing future that plays similarly to Fallout, with less RPG and humor.
Metro 2033 (the first game,) has been given an overhaul with the updated engine from the second game, Metro: Last Light, and the results make the world of 2033 worth revisiting. Along with the updated engine, both games include all DLC, along with new ways to play- a newer, even harder mode, as well as an "easier" mode- where bullets are more plentiful, allowing for more focus on fun than resource management.
Even if you've played the Metro series in the past, the price tag is low enough to be worthwhile even if you just want to experience the biggest changes that come with Metro 2033.

As much as my son and I love Infinity, the one area we really didn't invest in were the power discs.
While most of what they add is simply extras that aren't necessary to enjoy the game, these are fun items.
During a 48 hour sale, several of these disc sets went on sale for $1 or less. Simply couldn't pass up!

Chewie!
on September 7, 2016
Posted by: doc8998
Verified Purchase:Yes
Had to grab Han and Chewie, as my son has absolutely fallen in love with Chewbacca, the "big puppy".
Great in-game character, complete with Chewbacca roars and growls, has perfectly aligned in-game "powers" that are respectful of the character from the films.
Chewbacca is, and understandably so, sculpted with a certain amount of artistic liberty... I'm not so sure it's the best look they could have used, but I do know it could have been worse.
Like all the others in the Infinity character line, he looks great displayed, and partners next to his BFF, Han Solo, wonderfully. Sturdy construction ensures that even little players can play with them as an action figure and won't have much to worry about in the way of breaking them.

Another great figure that brings a collection of ranged attacks to Infinity, but rather than laser blasts and rockets, we get arrows!
I love archery, so finally getting my hands on Hawkeye for my son and I was great- he's becoming a favorite hero to play with.
Like all Infinity characters, Hawkeye is wonderfully crafted, solid for youngsters to play with outside the game, and wonderfully posed to display when not actively playing with him.

The kit also comes with a micro car adapter that allows you to recharge your device in your vehicle, so you can game for as long as you want.

Hi...My grandson is turning 6yrs old next week and he got a Nintendo 2DS for Christmas.. I wanted to know if I switch to a 2DS XL will he be able to use the old games with the new system? And is it worth the change? Thank u

All Nintendo DS games are compatible between the 2DS, 2DSXL, 3DS, and 3DSXL.
If a game is 2D however, it won't have 3D graphics on the 3DS systems. If a game is 3D, it will only show 2D graphics on a 2DS.
In my opinion, if he's upgrading from a 2DS, you'd be best served to upgrades to the 3DSXL.
The 3DSXL plays compatible 3D games in 3D without the need for glasses (which is really neat, being able to see 3D without the glasses they'd use for 3D movies) and still will play all his older games just fine.

Enjoy extreme computing power and uncompromising reliability with this CybertronPC Palladium gaming desktop. Its liquid cooling system keeps its powerful 4.0GHz Intel Core i7 processor from overheating, and the included 32GB of RAM handles the most demanding games. This CybertronPC Palladium gaming desktop has a 3TB hard drive to hold entire libraries of multimedia files.

Is there any possible customizable optionss for this device. Blu-ray player, front usb drives, etc.

There are 2 front/ top USB3.0 ports (they're angled).
There was an issue with the product description, which stated 10 USB ports. Mine arrived with the 2 front facing and only 4 or 5 in back. (Don't have access to PC, out of country atm). Best Buy did rectify the situation for me after bringing this to their attention by supplying me with a USB hub. As the PC appeared to be built as ordered, I cannot claim to whether this was an error by CyberTronic or an error in product description. (And number of USB ports may not be as big an issue for you).
This PC is built as a gaming "rig" and easily handles Virtual Reality (Oculus Rift,) and can handle having an external blu ray with no issues. There's plenty of power under the hood here, and I've been beyond happy with my purchase.
That said, if you do not do much gaming, this PC may be overkill, but it will handle modern games and VR handily, as well as video creation, which can hog memory, as well. Connecting an external blu ray player should be a matter of minutes and a quick install, and it should run smooth as butter with plenty left to spare.
