Burnout Paradise City wasn't necessarily screaming for a remaster, but this household is certainly glad it was done.
While many games given a remaster are severely focused on the visuals (think Shadow of the Colossus,) Burnout updates the visuals nicely, but truly, this is a game more concerned with giving you the experience it had hoped when it was first released.
Great looking cars, no load time free traversal over the big city and attached island, and smooth racing.
While some Burnout purists may be disappointed by Paradise City with the change from almost pure destruction to an open world system chock full of races, most of those race types involve dishing out damage. With nearly every single intersection in the huge maps being a starting point for an event, there's never a shortage of things to do (along with several sorts of hidden collectibles).
And that's the real draw here- there's always something to do and all within whatever type of gaming session you have on the table. While you can certainly have all sorts of fun over a short, one hour session, Paradise City is so addictive, a four hour session will go by just as quickly.

Let's begin with the fact that the 3DSXL is amazing. I'm not much for portable systems, preferring to play games on my phone when on the go. But, this system, which was a present for my son for a car trip to keep him busy, has captured my attention when I have the chance.
Nice, big screen. Simply cool 3D without the need for glasses. Solid, sturdy construction. Great catalog backed by Nintendo exclusives. The only reason I'd say to go with the 2DSXL over 3DSXL is if, like my wife, you suffer from a vision issue that prevents seeing the 3D itself. (Keep in mind, the 3DSXL has a slider that allows you to reduce the 3D effect all the way to a flat 2D, so no need to worry if it's a shared device between family that have different "vision requirements". So, if you're torn based solely on budget, save your money and do without until you can invest in the 3D- it really is THAT cool.
So... WHY, with all my positivity, is there a 4 star rating?
This is important, so if you choose to purchase a 3DSXL, be prepared. There is NO charging cable included. That's right, should you not purchase one with your newly acquired 3DSXL, and you unpack it to a low or zero charge, you've effectively bought a paperweight until you can head back to the store and purchase one.
I'm of the "big love for tech," sort, and cables I can salvage from almost anything outdated over the years generally remain in one of several storage boxes, and amongst the hundred old cables in them, not a single one was compatible.
So, after opening the 3DSXL at night, having next to no charge, no compatible cable, it required returning the next day and another $15 in order to actually play it.
This is ridiculous, but made more unforgivable by the fact that there's no notice on the box that the charging cable is not included.
Due to no highlighting of this fact, it took some time for it to dawn on me that it wasn't that my system was somehow missing the cable (despite being sealed). It took a second reading of the setup to realize that in the charging section, where it showed the connection, that it had (cable sold separately) listed.
There may be plenty of reasons Nintendo chose not to include it, which, in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing... Although I simply cannot recall purchasing any portable electronics over the years that didn't include a way to actually charge it so it could... you know... WORK.
No, it's the fact that this isn't highlighted BOLDLY upon the box so people can make their entire purchase in one visit.

MHW has been garnering a lot of praise, and rightfully so. It's fun, it's huge, plenty to do, and many reviews have mentioned its friendliness to newcomers.
As a newcomer myself, that last bit was important to me, and if you're new to the series, this is a great time to begin your monster hunting... with a caveat.
One needs to be fully aware of a couple of things before taking the dive.
1) it may be friendly to newcomers, but it IS an in-depth game that has a simple premise, but requires a lot of experimenting and learning from mistakes. Friendly it is, but forgiving it is not.
2) this is not a game to pop in for short bursts. It requires time when you load it up. Hunts can eat up 45 minutes, only for bad luck (close to a kill when a roaming monster stronger than the one you're hunting suddenly stumbles upon your epic battle,) to intrude and you need to begin anew.
As a newcomer myself, that last bit was important to me, and if you're new to the series, this is a great time to begin your monster hunting... with a caveat.
One needs to be fully aware of a couple of things before taking the dive.

If you enjoy "Souls" style games, MHW will be somewhat reminiscent. You'll learn from mistakes in battle or realize you chose to carry the wrong weapon for this hunt, OR realize after several attempts that you need to level your gear some and have to halt the hunt altogether while you take on sidequests to earn gear upgrade points.
MHW may feature a lot of action roleplaying fundamentals, but beneath it all is a tight tactical simulation that requires you to memorize your prey's attacks and when they'll use them, what PART of the body is weakest on them, and to save it all to memory so that if you fall, you'll return to the hunt a better hunter.
The creatures and gameworld are gorgeous- one of the few games I wish I had a PS4Pro and HDR to see it even further in depth.
But, the beauty goes beyond graphics. There's a level of immersion involved thanks to not just seeing creatures of different types interact in the wild as you explore, but even to the loot system.
Looting makes sense, in a BIG way. You can, on many creatures even cut off their tail. But, if you need a creature's tooth for an upgrade, attacking it's head to "loosen" it up will increase your odds.
Fighting a creature that breathes fire? Find a creature with natural fire immunity and hunt them until you have the materials you need. Fighting a venomous creature? Odds are those poison arrows are worth about as much as a regular arrow. Fighting a creature who can fly? Attack its wings to prevent it from taking flight.
And much of this common sense approach helps offset the MANY things that MHW WON'T be newcomer-friendly about. If you don't enjoy discovering things that many games consider necessities to teach you, then despite the reviews, it may not be for you... Unless you're willing to search the internet for.
If you have patience, if you're looking for a game and world that will keep you sucked in for untold hours, then you owe it to yourself to take those first steps into Monster Hunter World.

One of 2017s Highlights

Had this been any other year, Nier: Automata may have been 2017s best game outright. As is, I put it behind Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, and Wolfenstein 2, but only just by hundredths of percentage points.
While HZD is still my top pick, amongst the list of best games, no one could be blamed or considered crazy for picking Nier.
While it's certainly in the RPG catrgory, it interweaves almost every other genre into the mix at various points: text-based adventure, top down shooter, platformer, and more during dedicated bite-size segments just to that genre.
And while that presents ample opportunity to fail when stepping outside it's main genre; or, at best expectations, to become a confused mish-mash, it handles all it throws into the mix not just well, but as a shining, benchmark example that a great story can pull this off amazingly.
Beyond the great gameplay, Nier features both an engaging story and incredible soundtrack.
Don't make the mistake that because it's a sequel to a largely average game that Automata is more of the same. This isn't a pleasant surprise, it's leaps and bounds above its predecessor, and in the mix as one of 2017s absolute bests.

Take Teen Titans into the Lego Multiverse with Lego Dimensions Teen Titans Go! team pack, and have them battle while meeting new characters. Raven uses her special fire magic to fight off evil villains, while Beast Boy transforms into shark or bird to patrol the skies and sea in Lego Dimensions Teen Titans Go! team pack.

My son and I love the Teen Titans Go series, and we absolutely love being able to add them to our Dimensions play time.
That said, if you're looking to add all the Titans, (this includes Beast Boy and Raven,) there's going to be a little leg work and a bit of give and take.
While Starfire was also released with the latest run of Dimensions sets, it will remain a mystery if "proper" versions of Robin and Cyborg from the Go show were ever to be released.
With Dimensions now no longer making anything new, if you want to add the missing members, you'll have to settle for "Lego Robin" from the Lego Batman movie and the more "realistic" Cyborg (think from the recent Justice League live action film).
While finding the Lego Batman set with Robin shouldn't be an issue, Cyborg was released in one of the early waves when Dimensions first came out. He appears to be highly sought after; searches through retailers were fruitless, and finding him via eBay can be a costly option. (While many others from those waves can often be had for a bargain, Cyborg can often be found at almost double price, at cheapest).

While this one was CLEARLY purchased for this old-timer who grew up in the 80s, my four year old loves Beetlejuice, as well.

As a Story Pack, this Ghostbusters offers a lot in-game as well as to build.
As a 46 year old who grew up in the 80s, I certainly wish it had been the original Ghostbusters that had been chosen (although, I enjoyed the reboot,) for a full on story mode to honor the originality the first film brought and made Ghostbusters the pop culture icon it remains to this day, rather than the new film; that said, at least Peter, Slimer, and Sta-Puft are available as playable character packs.

Hi...My grandson is turning 6yrs old next week and he got a Nintendo 2DS for Christmas.. I wanted to know if I switch to a 2DS XL will he be able to use the old games with the new system? And is it worth the change? Thank u
All Nintendo DS games are compatible between the 2DS, 2DSXL, 3DS, and 3DSXL.
If a game is 2D however, it won't have 3D graphics on the 3DS systems. If a game is 3D, it will only show 2D graphics on a 2DS.
In my opinion, if he's upgrading from a 2DS, you'd be best served to upgrades to the 3DSXL.
The 3DSXL plays compatible 3D games in 3D without the need for glasses (which is really neat, being able to see 3D without the glasses they'd use for 3D movies) and still will play all his older games just fine.
If a game is 2D however, it won't have 3D graphics on the 3DS systems. If a game is 3D, it will only show 2D graphics on a 2DS.
In my opinion, if he's upgrading from a 2DS, you'd be best served to upgrades to the 3DSXL.
The 3DSXL plays compatible 3D games in 3D without the need for glasses (which is really neat, being able to see 3D without the glasses they'd use for 3D movies) and still will play all his older games just fine.

Enjoy extreme computing power and uncompromising reliability with this CybertronPC Palladium gaming desktop. There are 2 front/ top USB3.0 ports (they're angled).
There was an issue with the product description, which stated 10 USB ports. Mine arrived with the 2 front facing and only 4 or 5 in back. (Don't have access to PC, out of country atm). Best Buy did rectify the situation for me after bringing this to their attention by supplying me with a USB hub. As the PC appeared to be built as ordered, I cannot claim to whether this was an error by CyberTronic or an error in product description. (And number of USB ports may not be as big an issue for you).
This PC is built as a gaming "rig" and easily handles Virtual Reality (Oculus Rift,) and can handle having an external blu ray with no issues. There's plenty of power under the hood here, and I've been beyond happy with my purchase.
That said, if you do not do much gaming, this PC may be overkill, but it will handle modern games and VR handily, as well as video creation, which can hog memory, as well. Connecting an external blu ray player should be a matter of minutes and a quick install, and it should run smooth as butter with plenty left to spare.
