Very clever idea - every writer's fantasy - that their dream girl - leaps from the pages of their word processor as flesh and blood. Well written (and acted in the title role) by Zoe Kazan with her real life boyfriend playing her on screen love interst (the aforesaid scribe). Funny and bittersweet. If you missed it in a theater - now's your chance.

The fifth season of the legal drama begins with Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Cary (Matt Czuchry) secretly planning their exit from Lockhart/Gardner in order to start their own firm. But their plans are pushed into overdrive when Will (Josh Charles) learns about them and angrily confronts Alicia. Meanwhile, Eli (Alan Cumming) tries to secure Diane's Supreme Court nomination, but her candidacy puts her at odds with her colleagues. A bigger problem for Diane (Christine Baranski), however, is the way she treats Alicia upon her exit, which doesn't sit well with now-governor Peter Florrick (Chris Noth). But that's the least of his problems. Peter is investigated by a determined agent (Eric Bogosian) from the Office of Public Integrity on suspicion of voter fraud. At the new Florrick/Agos, accountant Clarke Hayden (Nathan Lane) joins the firm, while at Lockhart/Gardner Will goes against Diane's wishes and hires shady lawyer Damian Boyle (Jason O'Mara), who has ties to organized crime.
A fantastic series- and the fifth season was one of the BEST. With water cooler plot twists and characters going down for the count - which are still being talked about. How the Emmy voters didn't put this in the Best Drama category is a mystery. See for yourself. If there's a better written drama on the air (OK - maybe Game of Thrones), show me. I've seen every episode - own seasons1-4 already - this was a no brainer. Buy it. Watch it. Behold excellence. Cheers to Julianna Margulies and the Kings and the entire cast and guest stars who shine. This show is superb!

What's not so great: getting snubbed by the Emmys for Best Drama
Spring is here, and as Frank (William H. Macy) gets up to his old tricks again, the Gallagher clan realizes that their dreams of stability are drowning at the bottom of a bottle in this release featuring all 12 episodes of Shameless: Season 3.
This series lives up to it's name every week/episode. I can't really pigeonhole it by calling it a comedy - although it is as outrageous as anything I've ever seen on TV - basic broadcast or cable. The humor is black - but hysterical. As disfunctional a family as you will ever see. They love each other and hate each other in equal parts - deppends on the day of the week and the time of day. Emmy Rossum - the oldest of the siblings - and for a while - the glue that held them together - has come off the rails. William H. Macy - who will not win Father of the Year in any universe known to man - is in it to win it - for himself - no matter the cost or the trail of tears left in his wake. He's a pip. An acting tour de force. The entire cast - from the youngest of the clan to the friends and neighbors - is spot on. A wonderful ensemble. The writers have a field day painting them all into corners and then letting them out before painting them back in. It's s roller coaster ride - and well worth the taking.

What's not so great: Not for the faint of heart - story wise.
This classy release from the period series Ripper Street includes the entire second season of the show, following the story of Inspector Reid and his cadre of deputies, who work tirelessly to prevent Whitechapel from descending into criminal and moral chaos.
Set in London just after Jack The Ripper has terroized the city with his brazen murders - and remained at large - season two picks right up where the first season left off - with the detectives and forensic specialists going after the denizens of London's mean streets. This time around - relationships deepen - family members up to no good show up - but it maintains the great style and look of season 1 along with some very clever story telling and finely woven plots. My only regret is that the season isn't longer. This is what COPPER wanted to be - and never came close. It incorporates modern crimes in a period setting and pulls it all off marvelously. Love this show. Great DVD set,

This epic release from the landmark fantasy series Game of Thrones includes all 10 episodes of the show's third season, following the ongoing story of the powerful families of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, a land in which the cut-throat political web through which seemingly everyone vies for control includes torture, seduction, and many secrets.
One of my favorite series. And I'm far from alone. This show gets better every year so it was a no brainer to add season 3 to my collection. Not only because Best Buy had a great sales price - but because Game of Thrones is one for the ages - and who in their right mind would not own the season that included The Red Wedding? Some brilliant writing, acting and direction. One of the more shocking episodes in the history of TV. An instant classic. If you're a fan of GoT - this is a must buy at Best Buy.
Haven't seen one like this before. Miles Teller is a breakout young star as a high school kid with everything going for him - and a drinking problem. Attracted to a fellow classmate - who doesn't fit his usual bill - beautifully played by Shaileen Woodley (from "The Descendants") - who likes him for who he is - and also - unfortunately - for who she didn't know he was - it goes places I didn't expect or see coming. You become invested in these characters and the ride is bumpy - but exhilarating. I suggest you buy a ticket and come along. Very well done.

This release contains every episode from the fourth season of Nurse Jackie, a run of shows that saw the messed-up title character (Edie Falco) going toe-to-toe with a newly hired administrator (Bobby Cannavale) who intends to run a tight ship.
Been a fan of this show since I originally binge watched during a free weekend of Showtime from my cablr company. But since I don't get that often and since I was hooked after the first two seasons - I've gone sight unseen since then and just bought the full seasons as they come out and watch at home on the DVD player. I must admit that I have yet to find the time to barrel through this complete season - which I'll try to do in a single sitting - but based on all that I've seen before - I can't wait and assume it will be the gem that the first seasons were.
A beautiful, funny, heartfelt, offbeat romantic comedy featuring a wonderful Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and a laugh and tear-filled and unfortunately - final performance by James Gandolfini (of "the Sopranos") as a sweet teddy bear of a guy looking for love after a failed marriage. he and Louis-dreyfuss may not seem as if they fit together on paper - but trust me - they go together like a hand in a tailored glove. James goes out on top in this heartfelt romance. Made my personal Top 10 for last year. A bittersweet goodbye to a tremendous actor. Don't miss it.

A terrific movie. Beautifully written and acted. Steve Carrell stands out playing against his usual funny character. The entire cast is wonderful. Didn't want this one to end - so I bought the DVD to watch over and over. Highly recommend this movie. From the Oscar winning (co)writers of "The Descendants" - their directorial debuts.
Bought this on the basis of sampling the songs on line in 30 second snippets and glad I did. Very tuneful CD and one I've gotten a lot of listening ,mileage out of both at home and in my car.
