Little seen gem

Sort of low rent Scorcese, but gritty and entertaining. A heist by some dimbulb bad guys of a mob poker game that quickly comes apart at the seams. A bit talky at times, but the dialogue is ripe. And when the action kicks in, it's brutal and suspenseful and provocatively staged. A bevy of terrific performances by Scoot McNairy, the late James Gandolfini, and Brad Pitt as a philosophical hitman, who delivers one of the most chilling and political final movie linex I've ever heard. Found myself riveted every time I came across this on cable, so bought it. Happy I did.

Solid Bond

Late in Connery's run, but some good action. JB goes Japanese and tames a bride amidst all the high tech goings on and explosive plotting. Not the best of the Bonds but solidly entertaining, and sporting one of my favorite title songs, by Nancy Sinatra.

Underrated Bond

This is the lone Bond movie in the canon sporting an actor who played the role only once. I remember being impressed with it way back when on my lone viewing (although Telly Savalas didn't make the best villain) and it having one of the better love interests for JB (Diana Rigg) and a poignant turn. The price (for bluray) was excellent and the movie has aged well.

Wonderful True Story

Tremendously touching, funny, heart warming and moving story of a man - paralyzed since birth and confined to an iron lung - who late in his 30s - decides to hire a surrogate to help him lose his virginity. Marvelously played by John Hawkes and Helen Hunt as his surrogate in as tender a romance as you'll see on screen - they make for a unique duo -one you've never seen before. William H. Macy also co-stars as a witty priest who doles out sympathetic advice from behind his collar. This is a true story and a wonderful one - one that will stay with you long after Fade Out.
