Here is the original classic action heroes movie in a classic Western setting - The Magnificent Seven! Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson and James Coburn are the original classic action heroes who inspired countless stars even today. Now out on Blu-ray is the entire collection of the Magnificent Seven movies. Although the original is undoubtedly the best, the three credible sequels are enjoyable to see other Western/Action Heroes from this era. I have always enjoyed Star Trek TNG and have all 7 seasons DVD special edition volumes in my collection. So when I originally saw this item released at Best Buy I did not expect to purchase it. Upon examining the package and excellent price I decided to give it a try and I am glad I made this purchase. As expected, the Blu-ray video quality is excellent. Additional new special features are enjoyable and appreciated. I also appreciated the quality plastic cases and disc holder packaging to hold all 176 episodes in 2 shelf-friendly cases/packages. (Seasons 1-4, and Seasons 5-7). Yes some concessions were made to keep the package costs down. Notably overlapping 2 discs per side of the individual disc trays and lack of a booklet listing all seasons, episodes, and special features. However, all the discs and plastic disc carriers are contained together essentially as a "book-type" package sitting inside the outer plastic case. Episode information is clearly listed and easily read on the inside of the plastic case when the "book of discs" is removed. The discs themselves are clearly marked with individual Season and Disc numbers. Overall, this is a great set/package for those who would like to collect and own ST-TNG on Blu-ray!

The special event series for the X-Files (also being called "Season 10") was a little uneven episodically but overall I extremely enjoyed watching Mulder and Scully again. I hope to see more again soon. Both actors have stated their willingness to film more episodes, but not a full 24 episode season. I hope that the actors and excellent writers can once again coordinate their busy schedules in order to give X-Files fans more TV episodes.

Great Set, but frustrating disc packaging

Lost in Space TV series brings back pleasant childhood memories of watching this show with the family all together in the living room around a single television. My how times have changed! Even as a child I initially enjoyed this program, but became disappointed as the series progressed since I was "spoiled" by another sci-fi series which was more cerebral and adult in nature, i.e. Star Trek. After all these years, it was fun to revisit Lost in Space on Blu-ray. The video quality and transfers for a 1960's show are excellent. This is a great set to own and enjoy with nostalgia for that time. My complaint for this box set lies with the disc packaging. The discs are packaged in season sets (good) which consist of fan-fold cardboard sleeves which hold the discs tightly (bad). It is difficult to grab a small exposed edge of the disc and pull it out. For some reason, seasons one and two are folded in such a way that 2 discs face each other and you pull toward the center to remove making it even more difficult to remove a disc due to interference with the adjacent disc. But season 3 fanfolds in a manner such that the discs are removed pulling to an outside edge. That makes season 3 just a bit easier to deal with, but still frustrating. To minimize damage to the discs/package from repeated removal/insertion when viewing (since I do not completely watch an entire disc at one sitting) I put the disc I am viewing into an empty standard DVD case.

The Martian is a very enjoyable and realistic movie. The science in the movie is not "science fiction", as everything depicted including the technology is all achievable today. The Blu-ray video quality was flawless, and the extra features included were high quality and entertaining to watch (not the typical lame/fluff items which pass for bonus content nowadays). Great cast directed by Ridley Scott -- I enjoy just about anything by this director.

"Back to the Future" day has come and gone and while we may not have hoverboards lucky fans of this movie trilogy can purchase this 40th anniversary complete adventures package which includes your own flux capacitor! The flux capacitor is actually a lenticular 3-D image which lights up via LEDs. Some reviewers have been disappointed at this implementation, however I think it is a reasonable design tradeoff to keep the package cost reasonable while delivering the movies, complete animated series, and BTTF 64 page book to make this truly a great set to display on your video shelf at home! There is no need to review the video/movie content as everyone is familiar with this classic and beloved movie trilogy. I am going to enjoy watching BTTF on Blu-ray now along with the animated series on DVD (released for the first time).

I was shopping my local Best Buy store and found Season2 of Stargate Universe on DVD for $10! Season2 was also the final season for this prematurely cancelled series spinoff of the Stargate franchise. With the long-running success of Stargate SG1, the multiple spinoffs (Atlantis and then Universe) running concurrently seemed to strain the core Stargate production/writing/production team. I enjoyed watching SGU again. After a slow genesis in season1, SGU was beginning to develop it's own unique storyline and cast going into season2. As SGU seemed to gel and becoming established on its own as a series, it was abruptly cancelled. The final episode, to me, was bittersweet ending to the potential of this series.

Let me start by saying that I have not seen the Hunger Games movies nor read the books before purchasing this movie. So I purchased the first 2 movies (from Best Buy naturally :-) ) and watched them prior to watching Mockingjay Part 1. I will admit that I became captivated by these movies and story. What a cast, acting, and filmmaking! For me, Mockingjay Part 1 seemed to slow down a bit in the middle of the movie, as the need for exposition was required for the 13th district, war with the capital, and new characters such as President Coin. But it picked up at the end with the assault on the capital and rescue of Peeta---- and then it stops! Wait for Part 2.

Not a "shoot them up" space saga

Interstellar is an excellent sci-fi movie that breaks away from the recent spate of "super hero action" space saga movies. The film engages the viewer throughout its entirety with an excellent cast, acting, and astounding visuals and special effects. Instead of the typical 2-D CGI-laden films one sees today, filmed with actors/green screens, the filmmakers created sets, practical special effects and environments and found locations to convey the illusion of real space travel, the vastness of space and other worlds. The Bluray video and audio are flawless, and the special features about making the movie are also interesting to watch and very well executed. After watching the special features, I went back and watched the movie a second time! At its heart, though, this movie is about humanity, our interactions with one another and our place in the universe.

Utilizing dual 8" copper-spun IMG woofers and a 1" aluminum diaphragm-compression LTS tweeter, this Klipsch Reference R-28F floorstanding speaker creates a crystal-clear cross-spectrum soundscape.
What's the best speaker wire to use? 16 or 12 guage? Also, is it better to put the banana plugs on the ends of the speaker wire? Hooking up to a Denon Receiver.
12 guage would be the best. Although 16 guage would be OK for shorter runs, I still wouldn't use 16. Use 14 guage instead, especially if you want to save some money on speaker wire. I would also recommend banana plugs. It makes it easier to change speakers or move things around, especially when you need to get to the back of your amplifier. Banana plugs also minimize or eliminate the potential of the stranded speaker wire making a short across the amplifier outputs/speaker when you are making/changing connections. If you don't use banana plugs,you should at least tin the exposed end of the speaker wire with a good lead-free solder.
