More and more I am buying games from the XBOX Live Marketplace instead of in stores. I picked this up specifically for "Borderlands: The Prequel", and an XBOX Live Arcade Game "State of Decay". Both games were on sale as part of the XBOX Live Marketplace weekly deals.
Borderlands was on sale online for $29.99 instead of $59.99 and State of Decay was on sale online for $4.99 instead of $19.99. This was a really great deal as both games are still relatively new.
This deal was even better as it was a leftover holiday deal, $50 for the price of $45. The pack comes with three $15 cards and a bonus $5 card. You scratch off to reveal the number on back of the cards and simply redeem them, online connection required to do this as well as to purchase and download your games and add-on content.

This is a clever horror movie that also pokes fun at, in a playful way, other movies in the same genre. It is a fun horror movie rather than the "torture" horror movies that are so popular today.
This movie also has a high replay value in my opinion which makes it worth the purchase. It also comes with a digital copy that, using Ultra-Violet service, you can link to your Vudu, Cinema Now, or other online movie streaming apps.
I say "BOO" to you if you don't add this to your horror film collection.

I have a few things I look for when buying a movie and the main thing is replay-ability. This is a big budget comic book adaptation and it doesn't disappoint. Good cast and great special effects make this a fun and very entertaining movie.

This is an obvious choice if you are wanting to add something to your movie collection because it has a very wide appeal.

It is a good deal at 49.99 for the year, I got it for 39.99 as part of a console bundle. It's really an easy decision to get this if you have an Xbox 360 or Xbox One. I currently have the Xbox 360 and they feature two free games a month (usually one full game and one arcade game) and the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Because of the Xbox Live Marketplace I haven't purchased a "physical" version of a game in over a year. If you are patient you can get any game you want and at a pretty hefty discount.

I don't buy as nearly movies as I used to and when I do I usually look for a high replay value, as in could I watch this a few times a year and not be bored by it. This movies easily fits this criteria.
This if one of the huge comic book adaptations to come to the big screen and if you like that sort of movie then this is a easy decision.
Huge special effects, lots of actions, and a ton of silly yet very quotable lines make this movie a good addition to any collection.
I would also label this movie "family friendly".

Great Upgrade From Previous Console

My original XBOX 360 was beginning to wear down and after doing my research I felt I would be better off getting a new XBOX 360 instead of upgrading to one of the next generation consoles. I still plan to eventually upgrade to a XBOX ONE or PS4 but looking at the content available I feel I can put off purchasing one or both of them until Summer 2015 if not Christmas 2015.
This XBOX 360 is a smaller, more modern looking model then the one it is replacing. The hard drive is massive at 500gb, and with more games and add-ons it is more important then ever. I haven't purchased a "physical" copy of a game in over a year. The Xbox Marketplace has weekly deals and if you are patient you can get every game you want at a pretty hefty discount.
It is also faster then previous models. I had to download several games that I purchased digitally and it was easily twice as fast, if not more so.
This package comes with two Call of Duty games, one on a disc and on a digital download, both games are still very popular and have an active online community.
Game consoles are no longer just about gaming, it is also increasingly used for apps like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and more. I recently upgraded my television and along with it my dvd player to a "smart" blu-ray player and I find I prefer the XBOX 360 over the "smart" blu-ray player to watch Netflix and Hulu. It is just a little more responsive, less lag and loading time. The menu's are identical as far as I can tell.
One thing I found a little odd was it only came with a yellow video cable, that's right, the same cable you connected your original Nintendo to your television is whats included in this package. HDMI sold separately. I picked up a two pack of cables from an online site that will remain nameless.
Overall I am very happy with this product and wish I had upgraded sooner.

This product is pretty staight forward, plug and play ect. I live on the outskirts of a fairly big city and I pick up all the channels you would expect to easily. During a very windy night I experienced a little studder/pixelation ect. Other than that it has worked flawlessly.
If this product has a con it is cosmetically. My television, game console, and blu-ray player all have this sleek, modern, jet black look and this antenna looks like something from 20 years ago, I don't know what color white it is but it sticks out.
Im looking into spray painting it, ill let you know how it goes.
Overall this product works as you would expect.

Great TV for a small to medium room.

Originally I was planning on a 60 inch tv around summer time. My time table was moved up when my current tv died on me. I decided on this one as a temporary solution until I had the funds for the tv I was planning on.
In the store this tv seems small next to the giant wall of huge tv's. Having it home now and had a few weeks to use it I am very pleased with it. The picture is wonderful as you might expect, this is why people pick sony tv's after all. The setup is straight foward, the remote is very basic and easy to navigate.
This is not a "smart" tv, some might list this as a con. I however do not. I have an XBOX360 Elite and upon purchasing this tv upgraded my old dvd player to a "smart" blu-ray player (Sony BPD 3200). Both devices have HDMI hookup options and are "smart". The smart version of this tv is $100 more. The Sony blu-ray player was $69.99, according to my math I saved $30 and added a blu-ray player.
The sound... is adequate. I watched several tv shows in HD courtesy of a $14 antenna, a couple series shows and movies on Netflix and Hulu and the sound was fine. Then Sunday happened, I was excited to watch some football again since having given up my cable in favor of Netflix and Hulu and the sound was quiet, oddly quiet even. I turned up the sound as much as I dared and it still wasn't much better.
The dvd player I replaced was a combo dvd home theater system. Thankfully I didn't move it to a closet yet and just unplugged it. During halftime I powered down everything and plugged it back in. This tv has a Digital Optical Out which means you can get 5.1 surround sound with one tiny little cable for all of your devices. When the game came back on I was getting the sound I was expecting to hear. I later watched Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy and waited until about the halfway point to turn on the theater sound system. It was a noticeable difference as you might expect.
If you mainly watch tv shows (sitcoms, series on netflix/hulu ect, late night talk shows) the sound should not be an issue. If, however, you are like me and watch lots of sports and like the big budget action movies then I would recommend looking into a soundbar or home theater system.
I was planning on a 60 inch tv because, well, im a guy and 60 has a nice ring to it. This tv is 40 inches and the picture size is very good. I have a small, bordering on a medium size living room, and I sit about 12 feet from tv.
I still plan to upgrade to a bigger tv, but having this tv now I might just go with a 55 inch instead of 60 inch. I am after all reasonable.

The version I got from Best Buy only comes with a download code that you use on the Micro Trend website. It was a fairly fast download and install, I had no issues with it. I would make sure to disable any other security software you have before downloading just to avoid any conflicts in the software.

Open Box, as far as I know, can either mean a display model or a customer return. Some very good deals can be found but on a TV I would recommend adding on a two or three year warranty on it out of the savings you are receiving from the product being an "open box".

When we turn the TV, it says the picture is 720p, but the description says 1080p? What is up with that? Is this why the picture quality is poor?
The TV is 1080p but is dependent on what information you are giving it. I have a digital antenna hooked up and the signal I get is normally 1080i, only a slight difference from 1080p but still rather sharp. I have a Blu-ray player hooked up and all my movies show up at 1080p. If you are using a standard dvd player then it would display in 720p because that is the max resolution of a dvd. My XBOX ONE display goes from 1080p to 900p depending on what I am watching (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube ect) and the same for games, many only display 900p but I would be hard pressed to tell the difference when playing.
I would ask what devices you are using, or were you referring to the "Smart" features of the TV?

By making this purchase, am I buying a physical disc in the box, or a download from Trend Micro?
I bought it in-store and it came with a code in a box on a piece of paper. On the Micro Trend website you can request a physical disc if you want but I went through the download process and it wasn't terribly difficult.
If you buy this just read the steps online for download and code redeeming instructions, I think you will be fine.
I am a person with average computer knowledge and I got it up in running in a little under an hour.
