Truthfully, this game appeared great from the various media, but the gameplay is a bit of a bore. This game feels like it's more geared toward fans of the series looking for a mashup, which is great, but the story didn't seem as strong. This game tweaks several things that the newer installments have been working on, which is great for play-ability. And having two players is also a bonus. This game stays true to it's dark surroundings and survival horror origins, but much of the focus is on action than earlier titles. The story, though not as strong will still be intense enough to convince you that the game is worth playing to see how your character will get out of the scenario. There are some great weapons, as usual. This series is taking some interesting turns, and honestly I miss the old gameplay; thus The Evil Within and the Last of Us have replaced my Resident Evil twist. All and all, this franchise is becoming more dark, action oriented and the characters of reached their peak of development. Each installment is doing some interesting things with the game play, like what's mentioned above. At some point all these features will improve or this series will finally end and be rebooted like Tomb Raider. Though, I have more favorable games in my collection, I would still recommend this game. Particularly to someone who loves Resident Evil or Survival Horror games.

Acts of Nostalgia: Sonic Generations

The Sonic series has been getting a lot of harsh criticism and it seems many gamers and critics are fine with Sega letting this series die. However, it seems each newer game is trying to play with something and bring in a new, I guess gimmick. For example, Sonic Unleashed introduced morphing and a combination of side scrolling and 3D enviorments, Sonice Adventure was all in the third dimensions, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood was an RPG, and for the most part these games are some of the ones that turned off Sonic fans and gamers alike. In particular, Sonic 2006 which was very glitchy. However, this game takes all the best parts of the Sonic universe and gameplay and strategically blends them together. The story is also one of the more interesting, but definitely not deep or new. The game switches from side scrolling to a third person view that follows Sonic. Many past characters make an appearance, like Chaos, Shadow, Metal Sonic, Espio, and there are even references to characters like Mighty the Armadillo who makes a small cameo in a poster in one of the stages. One feature this game offers is the ability to purchase power ups and so forth that allow you to run faster or have more lives which adds a bit of replay-ability. Additionally, there are gems and red stars to collect that unlock various things in the game. One thing, I would have really enjoyed in this game is the return of special stages from the first three Sonic games. Multiplayer would have been great too. But this game is great for what it is worth. Sometimes movement seemed a little stiff in the side scrolling modern modes. The classic modes seemed the most polished and it was great revisiting some of the old stages and hearing some old sonic tunes.

A curious young girl. A time-telling rabbit. A tea-sipping hatter who's gone simply mad. You thought you knew the story of Alice in Wonderland — but you thought wrong. Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice's family from her and left her mind horrifically scarred. Afterward, she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, where she struggled to confront her demons by slipping further into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after 10 years, she has finally secured her release — yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event. With her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Perhaps she'll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the "real" world can't provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge. Can Alice save Wonderland — and herself — from the madness that consumes them both? The plot has become darker. The adventure, more sinister. The action, more gripping. Maybe Wonderland isn't so wonderful, after all. Stumble back through the looking glass and into a haunting new Wonderland in Alice: Madness Returns. Visit the grim reality of Victorian London and then travel to the ghastly, yet hauntingly beautiful Wonderland to uncover the root of Alice's madness and discover the truth behind a deadly secret, kept hidden for years. Everything you thought you knew about the fantastical realm of the Queen of Hearts is about to be twisted, darkened and turned on its head when Alice's world once again collides with the original visions of American McGee. American McGee brought the fanatical characters and dark mysteries of the topsy-turvy fantasy world to life in a visionary new way in his instantly classic 2000 Alice title. Now, he's revolutionizing the way you look through the looking glass yet again and painting an even darker, more exciting environment as he teams up with Spicy Horse and Electronic Arts to re-imagine life on the other side of the rabbit hole. This time, it's survival you're fighting for as you venture along a gruesome, blood-stained trail. It just so happens today is your unbirthday — and you're invited to a twisted new tea party.

A darkly twisted sequel to American McGee's Alice. The game's plot is set around the universe of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll, but this game focuses a heavy deal on the psychological aspect of the character's psyche. For the most part the game is pretty linear but there is a parallel of two worlds, one being a more realistic setting and the other a fantasy world where Alice tries to understand a tragic event. Gameplay is mostly action and platforming with some role playing game elements. Both the dark story and smooth game play are fantastic. The plot is dark and many of the themes are adult, even the wacky bits. Great game, great game play. Maybe the hidden gem you were looking for. Additionally, the hardcopy of this game comes with a free down load of its prequel.

Beyond the Edge

Mirrors edge is a fast paced, parkour simulation, first person platform game with genre bending game play. The world is a mix of literature like 1984 and the world of films like Hackers. It has a somewhat cyber-punk setting that isn't too far from the world we live in today. However, what's really fantastic about this game is the action. The action is intense. Not to many games have made my heart pump the way this game does, nor has it made me really feel for the protagonist as she plummets to her death from a failed jump. Mirrors Edge will test your reflexes and your thinking with puzzling jumps. Sometimes escaping a situation is about creativity and less about fighting your way through an event. On an end note, Mirrors edge presents one of the most interesting and inspiring female video game characters since Jade from Beyond Good and Evil. She wears realistic clothes that seem appropriate for her character and action, is tough, but does not rely on masculine characteristics and looks awesome. A definite plus for this refreshing heroine. I am looking forward to the Catalyst.

This game is similar to its predecessor, BioShock. The mechanics and a lot of other elements echo the game play of the first one. However, this game, for a First Person Shooter/First Person Role Playing Game is unique and feels carefully crafted. It pushed the player to make important choices, good or evil, similar to games like Mass Effect or Fable. One thing that makes this game and gaming element stick out is the character you play who is in such a gray area of what many thing of "good" and "evil", that the plot and decisions challenge one's ethics, or lack thereof.

Beyond Two Worlds of Entertainment: A Game & Film

Beyond two souls is the latest attempt at an interactive movie, with some video game elements, from director/writer David Cage. The plot is just above mediocre, following the life of Jodie Holmes (played by Caroline Wolfson and the talented Ellen Page) and her imaginary friend, Aiden as they navigate through a series of events causing mischief, but the story is not bad either, just okay; however if this were a movie, I might have felt a bit cheated. The twists are not surprising, the story moves slow and the characters don't really deepen much throughout, but that might depend on some game play exploration with decision trees. Still, the story is interesting, even if it had me a bit bored at times, and the talent, of course is very decent to watch. The game advances with small interactions in scenes and quick time events. In that regards, this game might appeal to non traditional gamers as well as hard core gamers. The quick time events, though sometimes a bit challenging when they seem to come at you as you're focusing on a scene can be annoying the first time, are actually pretty easy to manage and sometimes add to the tension. For those who can't stand cut scenes and skip right through them in other story driven games, this game will probably not appeal to them, as this is mostly story and cinematic. One of the highlights of this game is the multiple endings and alternate scenes that develop based on one's game play, this adds to some replay value. One unnecessary let down for me, and it was totally based on an assumption that I had for absolutely no reason, is that I assumed this would be lest like Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain, and be more like Omikron: The Nomad Soul (another game from Cage), which was a truly unique gaming experience, but this game didn't offer much of a relationship there. It's almost as though Cage is trying to work something out, like a writer does when they write the same story with slight differences and forms until they finally nail it. That's what this game feels like, a slightly more advanced version of gaming and story telling than Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. Did Cage nail it this time, I guess that is up to you. This game gets a good overall rating because though the story isn't mind blowing, it's decent for a play through, and the game play itself can add to some tension, it also had me bored and feeling repetitive. The balance of game and film feels a bit off, but not enough for me to want to put the game down. This game is great for a variety of gamers. I personally really only enjoy turn-based RPG's, but this game had me interested enough to progress through it, and I know I will play it again. On a side note, it even intrigued my wife who hates most video games, with a few exceptions like The Last of Us and Mario Kart, but she likes both this game and Ellen Page.

Stylized Action RPG for the Masses

I purchased this game because it was compared to games like Fable, Elder Scrolls and Knights of the Old Republic. As an RPG collector, I am back logged and haven’t given this a thorough play or analysis, but I from the first few hours I gave it I know I will play this game to as much completion as I can. Typically I play turn-based RPGs, but since they are growing thinner and thinner, I purchased this being a fan of the above. Most disappointing are the character interaction scenes.
I have never read anything from R. A. Salvatore so I wasn’t sure what to expect story wise, but the story is typical fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons jive. I appreciate the somewhat stylized caricature-like characters and graphics done by Todd McFarlane. Especially, in an era of gaming where more games attempt to be more realistic. The skill system is similar to most games of this breed, which is good for me because it allows me to just sink in and play without having to learn a whole new set of rules, and with a refreshing action oriented combat system, this game is a delight.
One complaint I’ve heard is that the game claimed to be open world, but that instead it is made to look open world. As previously mentioned to me that is not necessarily a bad thing, thus far the game play seems nonlinear, which is a plus and having some restrictions makes the game less overwhelming. In a sense it is similar to Knights of the Old Republic. The sandbox style open world types of games really overwhelm me and in turn, eventually bore me. Therefore games like the Elder Scrolls series, though intriguing, are hard for me to get really into. I spent five years playing Morrowind and a lot of that was simply exploring the world and getting side tracked from missions. Gameplay like this can be fun, and the fact that I played it for five years shows that I can get involved, but an experience like that is too long for me. All in all, if the game claimed to be one thing and failed in that attempt, that is truly a shame because for what this is, it is a very well executed game.
Ultimately, this game is a great adventure. It is decently written, but feels like it borrows too much from other similar games. This game is fairly inexpensive so there is no reason not to pick this up if someone likes the types of games mentioned at the start of this review and is looking for another option in the wild world of western rpgs.

Learning to <3 Game Overs: Natural Doctrine

Natural Doctrine is an enormous delight, but it comes with a lot of frustration due to its puzzling difficulty. Many battles will take a player about 45 minutes to a couple hours. It took me several nights to get past the first real dungeon and I am an avid strategy role playing gamer. This game is different though from the familiar and reminded me a bit of Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter mixed with later entries in the Arc the Lad series. In a purely nostalgic way this game also reminded me of a Sega Saturn personal hidden gem, Mystaria: The Realms of Lore because of its fine game system but lack of other things (things both games share mentioned below) to really pull in the conventional gamer or add something different to the collection of a seasoned gamer. This game requires a lot of trial and error, but with some experimentation with the characters abilities battles start to become less of a mess. The trial and error factor could be good or bad depending on the type of player one is. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, Baroque and Dark Souls (I & II) are similar in that vein, but one thing that is appealing about those games is that trial and error are part of the story. Dying is part of the story, game play and experience. Death is meta. That might have helped Natural Doctrine’s appeal, but death is like death in any role playing game, death equals a game over or a restart from an auto save point and even worse. Beyond that, if one character in the party dies it is game over. However, after a while this became part of the charm. I couldn’t sacrifice characters for the greater good nor could I be careless about one or two party member in a fight. The game challenged me as someone who enjoys strategy games and pushed me to change my tactics –tactics I use for almost every turn-based role playing type game and only tweak a bit here and there.
The story felt very familiar but it is okay enough to not be turned off from the game, at least for me. The one thing that kept me entertained enough is that the story feels a bit more adult, even with its clichés and stereotypical cast. As I am in my late twenties, I find it harder and harder to relate to adolescent and cutesy characters in role playing games from Japan. The characters are flat if not static and anyone involved with the story will become more attached to a character by their abilities rather than their development in the story. However, for the right type of gamer, this game is pretty decent. For one it brings a gameplay experience that seems to be fading away.
The harmony of this game is in its confusing/delightful intricate battle system, which as I mentioned before pushed me in the way I play these types of games. I am sure a player could try to grind away but that would take hours upon hours for a game that will feel anticlimactic at the end, I’m sure. The playability in this game is that if forced me to re-enter a battle and change my strategy and use items and techniques that I may never touch in other, similar types of games.
This game is definitely a hidden gem, but it won’t be for everyone and those familiar with role playing games and strategy based role playing games may find some challenges, both annoying and satisfactory. Even with that said, it is a shame that this game is not as successful as it could be or as known because it provides a cross platform multiplayer experience between Play Station 3 and the Play Station 4. When I log on it is rare I see another player.

Natrually a great controller

Do you have a Nintendo Wii or Wii U and want to enhance your gaming experience by holding part of one controller in one hand while the other part is strapped to your wrist on the other hand? This is certainly the product for you. Besides the fact that his product is required for a large number of Wii games and a select few Wii U games, this is a great addition to your Nintendo's extra appliances and paraphernalia. It is a first party product so it works very well and has a nice rubber texture on the thumb stick. I am an old school gamer and I prefer the classic game gad to this, honestly, but for games like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, No More Heros (both on the Wii) and Pikmin 3 (which is on the Wii U), this is a must have --especially if you are collecting original Wii games.

A seemingly endless array of additional abilities and features make the Director's Cut an entirely new Deus Ex: Human Revolution experience. Receive an exclusive look behind the scenes with approximately eight hours of director's commentary, plus a 45-minute "Making Of" video. It's time to assume the role of Adam Jensen with total control, power and immersion on your side.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is like the proverbial great American Novel for video games, and for today's techno-crazed generation, and with cyber punk flare. The Adventures of the Augmented Augie March.

Is it good for editing videos

I have used this to edit videos on Pinnacle and even tinker with the game creation software, Unity, and so far it works fine :). These programs downloaded faster than on my PC too.

How do I buy Dr. Mario for Wii?

This is from Nintendo's official site: Dr. Mario Online Rx can be downloaded from the WiiWare™ section of the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii™ console for 1000 Wii Points™.

Basically go to your Shop Channel, click on the middle box with your Wii remote, and then search for it by name, that's the fastest way.
