Easy Setup, Versatile, Fast Printing and Copying
on July 6, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike
This all-in-one printer does exactly what it’s supposed to do providing printing, scanning, copying, as well as faxing in a pleasant design and an easy to use interface.
Setup is straight forward and easy with a guided setup process using the touchscreen display. The display itself is bright, easy-to-read, and the touch responsiveness is quite good.
You’ll simply install the cartridges, do a quick calibration, and it’s basically ready to go. One thing I would have liked to see during the setup process is for it to immediately proceed to wifi setup as I think that’s what almost everyone will do. It “completes” the setup process but then you have to go into the settings manually to set up the wifi. Small thing but that could make the process smoother for some folks.
Prints look nice and crisp with both black and white as well as color prints. Scanning quality is also quite good. And the best thing about both printing and scanning is that both are fast.
The construction of the printer itself is solid and doesn’t feel cheap. The hinges are strong and doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart like some other budget printers.
I love the fact that it has a slot where you can insert an SD card but I would have also liked to see a USB port for flash drives. Sort of an odd omission.
The other small complaint would probably be that the paper capacity is pretty small at just 100 sheets. Would have liked to see a bit more.
Overall this is a great all-in-one. Very pleased with it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Well-Built Power and Portability!
on June 27, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike
This convertible laptop is a great blend of power, usability, and portability with a solid, quality build.
I love the portability with the ability to convert from laptop to a tablet and the lighter weight makes this the best of both worlds being a very usable laptop size but also a small enough size for being a tablet. The hinges are solid and there is no play in the mechanism. One nice touch I found was that there’s even some little rubber protective pieces on the back of the hinge so when you open it up in laptop mode, the back of the hinge rests on the surface with those protective bits to not damage your work surface.
I am quite impressed with both the keyboard and the trackpad and this is a big factor for me. The keys have a positive response and solid feedback and the layout is well done. I feel that sometimes with devices of this size, keyboard layouts can be compromised and this feels completely natural.
The trackpad is also very good. Extremely precise, taps and scrolling are spot-on…just like the keyboard, it’s natural and intuitive.
Same thing goes for the touchscreen display - very accurate to touches, swipes, etc…
The display looks great for an HD display. For this form factor, 4K actually may be overkill especially if you’re running at full scaling. The display isn’t as bright as I would have liked it but certainly can still be viewable even in very bright environments.
The port selection provides plenty with 2 USB-C ports, 1 USB A port, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader along with a headphone jack.
The speakers are what I’d call just “OK” with a respectable amount of low end for a device of this size but the sound is a bit tinny and muddled especially at higher volumes.
Overall, if you’re looking for a portable, powerful, and sturdy device whether this is your only device or if you’re looking for a travel device, this is a great option!

There’s a reason Dyson is so popular
on June 15, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike
Could not be happier with this vacuum - it provides an incredible amount of suction, it has a high quality construction, and there’s many intelligent features built in that make it a joy to use.
This is actually my second Dyson ball vacuum - sadly, my ex-wife took my original ;) That vacuum was amazing and am super happy to have this newer version.
The construction is top-notch. Everything is tight, solid, and durable. For reference, the original I had was over 3 years old and it performed just like new after many years of using it to clean up after 2 dogs and a couple cats. This newer version actually feels a little more robust so I am sure this will last just as long if not longer.
In terms of cleaning power, this could be the main reason Dyson is so popular. It provides quite of bit of suction for everything from floors to furniture. The main head on the bottom of the vacuum has 3 different modes from hard surfaces like tile and hardwood to light carpet to thicker carpet and it does a great job at picking up pet hair even with the deepest of carpets.
This version of the Ball Animal 3 comes with a combination tool (nozzle and soft brush) as well as a stair tool. The stair tool has these little velour strips that helps pick up hair from carpets and that works well.
If your pet (or other humans - no judgement) shed a lot hair, you may want to consider the Ball Animal 3 Extra which runs $100 more but that comes with the Pet Groom Tool as well as the Tangle-free turbine tool. I had the tangle-free turbine tool on my last Dyson and found that to be a fantastic tool for cleaning cat hair from furniture.
The other thing about Dyson products are the smart features that make it super convenient and also eco-friendly. The canister for storing debris easily pops off with a single button and then a secondary button releases the bottom of the canister for emptying easily into a trash can. The hose is built right into the handle of the vacuum so there’s none of that additional hose that you have to loop around the vacuum or anything like that. It’s all integrated.
In addition, there’s also eco-friendly features such as a washable filter as well as even how Dyson products are packaged. 99% of the packaging is completely recyclable.
There’s a reason Dyson products are so popular and I’m super happy to add this to my other Dyson products.

Cube GPS Tracker can be placed discretely in your vehicle so you can track where it goes, how long it spends there, and at what speed it travels. Cube gathers data via GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cell tower triangulation then reports the data back via the LTE-M data plan. Plans start at $16.50/Month.; Ideal for theft recovery, fleet tracking or just keeping an eye on your valuables. Cube GPS can be hardwired into vehicles using optional OBD II plug or wired directly to the battery with the hardwire kit.; Thieves today know exactly where to go to disable the factory GPS on newer cars. Cube GPS can be a backup plan to help with recovery. Even if the thief removes the cables from the battery the Cube will still report using its own battery for up to two weeks.

Super Versatile Tracking!
on May 27, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike
I’ve been looking for a more versatile tracker and this one fits the bill. The fact that this uses a combination of GPS, cellular, wifi, AND bluetooth for tracking, makes this tracker extremely versatile with how you can use it as well as its accuracy.
// Versatility
I can use this for tracking my vehicle(s), pets, bikes, and even myself (more details on that in the Sharing section). It’s small enough where I can easily hide it in my vehicle and there are built in holes on each side of the Cube so I can attach it to a dog collar easily. It’s not quite small enough to hide it inside most bicycle frames but it can easily fit inside a little saddle bag.
// Sharing Location with Friends and Family
You can share the location of the tracker with your friends and family so this is where you can track yourself and share the location with your chosen contacts so this could be useful where let’s say you were going backpacking or traveling alone, you can have this on you so your loved ones know where you are.
// Location History
I really like the fact that it not only shows its current location in the app but also the location history so you can see where this tracker has been. Super cool.
// Virtual Fence
Another feature I really love is the virtual fence feature where it can alert you if the tracker goes outside of a defined zone.
// Audible Tones
This tracker can also make pretty loud beeps/ringtones for tracking it down when you get within a closer proximity of about 20-25 feet and the ringtones are fairly unique so I think for most people you should be able to hear it even from a distance.
// Battery Life
Battery life will vary based on how you use it when it comes to tracking intervals, strength of cell signals, and a host of other factors. Real-world usage for me was about 2 weeks which may pale in comparison to bluetooth-only trackers but I think that’s probably to be expected since this leverages many more methods of tracking/communication.
What’s also nice is that they have a setting where you can set up a “Safe Zone” based on a location where if it senses that its in this zone, like lets say your house, it can go into a power saving mode where its not using a cell signal to save on battery life.
// Subscription
Being that this tracker uses cellular in addition to GPS, wifi and bluetooth, this device has a subscription associated with it starting at $16.50/month which isn’t necessarily a drop in the bucket but I think of it as something like insurance for anything of high value. For the use case of keeping track of a pet I think that’s well worth it. Also, at just $29 for the tracker itself, that’s actually not a bad monthly price to pay considering the device itself it rather inexpensive.

Plenty of features for the money
on March 8, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike

This is a well rounded device offering plenty of features like step tracking, heart rate, calories, sleep tracking, and activity tracking. For the price, this device offers a lot but the data that it provides may not be as accurate as higher-end health trackers.
The device itself is a small, unobtrusive strap with a small but easy to read, full color touchscreen. The touchscreen works well and it’s responsive to swipes and taps. The interface is easy to use and understand and it’s broken out into 4 easy areas for your activity and health data, an activity tracking widget, tools like alarms and a stopwatch, and settings. Super easy to use.
Step tracking and daily activity tracking works well including stuff like automatic detection for walking which just automatically shows up in the Halo app. I liked that I didn't have to manually start an activity to track my walks.
Calorie calculations seem to be a little overzealous. I’ve been tracking my calories for years and have experience with other health and fitness trackers and the Halo estimates about 10-15% higher than what I think is expected.
However, heart rate accuracy seems to be pretty good compared to an external heart rate monitor for both daily tracking as well as activities like running.
Sleep tracking is good for the most part. It seems top track the total sleep time, time too fall asleep once in bed, and time awake well along with sleep stages but the sleep scores that it gives I’d say are a bit overly encouraging. For instance, a good night of sleep produced a sleep score of 88 whereas a terrible night of sleep for me produced a score of 71.
Battery life is pretty good for a device this small lasting about 3-4 days.
Overall, this device offers a lot for the initial price tag which includes a year subscription to the Halo app but after that it costs $4/month. I don’t like subscriptions just like anyone else but $4/month really isn’t that bad in the whole scheme of things. Could be nice if you are already an Amazon Prime member to just toss that in for free though. Just a thought.

Nice blend of sound & features for the money
on February 1, 2022
Posted by: gwtbike

How Often Used:Daily
These earbuds are a great value for the money offering good sound quality, a secure fit, and good battery life.
First off, these earbuds are incredibly comfortable, easily as comfortable as a pair of AirPods but these also have a more secure fit so for workouts like running and at the gym, these work great. They also have decent water resistance being IP57 water resistant. I’ve used these for plenty of sweaty workouts.
The case is a nice size, about the same size as an AirPods case and it charges via USB C. The case also provides an additional 3 charges. The earbuds themselves have a battery life of up to 7 hours so a total of about 28 hours.
Sound quality is quite good for a pair of earbuds that “only” cost $120. They have a nice, balanced sound profile out of the box with more kick on the low end compared to others in this price range. Highs are super crisp, like the finger snaps at the beginning of Flo Rida’s My House - crystal clear. When the bass kicks in, they do a good job - maybe not what you’d get from Jabra’s higher-end Elite 7s (which I also have) but still quite good.
What’s nice about these headphones too is that there is an accompanying smartphone app where you can adjust the sound profile to your liking with a customizable equalizer.
The active noise cancellation is OK. It does a good job with white noise like an air conditioner, it’s pretty decent with noise like when you’re walking around outside, but found it to be not as exceptional in really noisy environments.
The transparency mode, or what Jabra call HearThrough, works very well piping in sound from your environment.
Overall, I think these are a *great* value at $120!

Nice design, interesting to use
on January 19, 2022

In terms of product design and packaging, they did a great job here. You really feel like you have purchased a high quality product.
In the package you will get the toothbrush itself, two brush heads (one medium and one soft), a charging base, a USB C to USB A charging cable, and a nice bag that you can use for travel.
The construction is impressive - very nicely built. The button to turn on the device can switch through a cleaning mode, whitening mode, polishing mode, and a sensitive mode.
The modes are interesting. They all start out subtle and then the power/vibration increases after a few seconds. If you switch to a different mode it immediately goes to the higher power/vibration. I would have liked that subtle increase when switching between modes.
The modes seem to work well for the most part. The Clean mode is the first option, the whitening mode increasing the vibration frequency, the polish mode alternates quickly between two vibrations, and the sensitive mode switches between two vibrations but just slower.
The sensitive option I didn’t really get. It alternates between a slow and fast vibration and for someone like myself who has sensitive teeth and gums, I found this to be the least desirable mode.
The vibrations overall are strong - so strong that I think they need to be dialed back because they can be a bit jarring. For instance, I don’t necessarily like to use this at night before bed because the vibrations are so strong that they have an opposite of a calming effect.
The blue LED light is supposed to help whiten your teeth. Maybe? It may be hard to tell with a couple weeks of use but maybe over a very long term I suppose it could make a difference.

Jabra Elite 7 Active is engineered with our unique Jabra ShakeGrip™ technology, sweat and waterproof durability, and ultra-compact design, they’ll stay in place through even the toughest workouts. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and HearThrough features allow a customized level of immersion, so you can be in control of your workout and your sound. If you need to keep an ear free, mono mode lets you use either bud independently. Stash the one you’re not using in the case, and you can even extend your battery by using one and charging the other. And Alexa Built-in and Google Assistant are at your command with just the tap of the bud. Multipoint connects to two devices at once, lets you seamlessly switch between devices, and is available as a firmware update via the Jabra Sound+ app.

Fantastic Sound with a Comfortable and Secure Fit
on November 9, 2021
Posted by: gwtbike
from Fort Collins, CO
I own a lot of earbuds and these are way up on my list with well-balanced list of features with great sound and fantastic call quality, plus a secure fit.
The earbuds have a nice, lightweight feel and are very comfortable to wear for hours on end. I found the security of the earbuds to be quite good for earbuds that don’t have extra attachments like fins or wings and they stayed put just great for all sorts of activities including at the gym and running.
Each earbud has a button on the outside which you can customize in the smartphone app. By default the right earbud is used for play, pause, forward/back tracks, and the left is used for switching between different HearThrough modes and activating the voice assistant. The buttons have a light feel to them and don’t require much force to press which is nice so you aren’t jamming them into your ears with each press.
The stock sound profile straight out of the box is balanced but you can customize the sound profile with an equalizer in the app. There are presets that you can use to emphasize speech, bass, treble, and a few others that work well. I tend to like a bit more bass but not an overwhelming amount and the “Energize” preset works great for my taste.
For sound quality, these have a very crisp and clean sound. Lows aren’t muddled even with bass heavy tracks and highs are super crisp. If you’re looking for tons of bass I don’t think these are for you even with the bass pumped up in the equilizer but even for someone like me who does tend to prefer more bass (but not the crazy amount of bass out of some Sony headphones) I really quite like what these deliver. I’d rank them as much better and much more bass than AirPods Pro and Beats Studio Earbuds but not as much as some others.
The call quality is phenomenal on these and maybe even more so for the person you are calling as the microphones are very clear and it’s some of the best I’ve ever heard.

Amazing Versatility!
on October 25, 2021
Posted by: gwtbike
from Fort Collins, CO
I haven't been so excited about a laptop in a long, long time. This machine is a joy to use because of the many ways you can interact with this device.
The most appealing thing to me about this machine is it's versatility being able to chew through power-hungry tasks as a laptop but then having the additional tablet and stage modes. I tend to use the tablet mode for more creative tasks using the Surface pen and then the stage mode when it comes to entertainment like watching Netflix. (The speakers are also quite good, and loud!) But the nice thing about all these modes is that the experience in Windows doesn't change - you still do everything that you can do in laptop mode, minus the physical keyboard of course, and there's also an on screen keyboard.
The physical keyboard is probably one of the best I've used on a Windows machine with a great key feel and the layout is on point. The trackpad is responsive with predictable behavior and it works great with all the gestures that you can do with Windows 11. Quite intuitive.
The 14.4 inch touchscreen display is super bright, I find the color accuracy to be pretty good, and the touchscreen, just like the trackpad, is responsive and predictable. The touchscreen is obviously a must in tablet or stage mode but I do also find it nice to have in laptop mode.
Along with the touchscreen there's also the Surface Pen and this adds yet another way to interact with the device and it's very precise. And I just love how it stores tidily underneath the front of the device where it also charges.
The quality of the build is solid and it feels like a premium device. The main hinge is robust and there's very little to no flex but there's a little bit of flex from the secondary pivot point when you're converting it between modes but I don't think that's a big deal at all.
This is the Core i7 version that I have with 16GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD HD. 1TB of storage would offer a bit more headroom but for the most part the 1/2 TB works. However, the i7 processor and 16GB of RAM has proved to be plenty for plenty of apps being open at one time and it has never bogged down, even while having dozens of Google Chrome tabs open.
One odd thing is that when it's in tablet mode, it's not perfectly flat - the display sits at a slight angle. It's nothing that affects the use of it in tablet mode but just something you may want to be aware of.
Also to note, although it has two USB C ports with USB 4.0 and Thunderbolt 4, that's all you get other than a headphone jack (and power), so you may require a dongle depending on your needs.
I'm very impressed with this device. If I were to judge it as just a laptop, I think it's great. A good keyboard, trackpad, and display. Then factor in the touchscreen, the stage mode, as well as the tablet mode, along with the Surface Pen, and for me this has actually addressed my need for a true all in one.

Well Built and Solid Sound
on October 13, 2021

Fantastic portable speaker with the sound quality you can expect from Bose.
// Setup
During the initial setup it will prompt you to download the Bose Connect app but don’t worry, you actually don’t have to download this app if you don’t want to. I was able to connect it via bluetooth and it works just fine.
However, downloading the Bose Connect app will allow you to access settings like managing the devices that are paired to the speaker, party mode to connect a second Soundlink speaker to play music on more than one speaker at a time, the auto off timer settings to automatically turn the speaker off after a set amount of time, whether you want voice prompts, as well as some other misc settings.
// The Speaker
For the speaker itself, it feels very solid and has a nice weight to it without it being too heavy. It has a nice, rubbery material on the sides and the back which makes it comfortable and secure to carry so there’s little chance of slipping out of your hand, and it also has a fabric loop on one end to either carry it or hang it. The front of the speaker is hard plastic.
The physical buttons located at the top of the unit are all protected by the rubber outside of the speaker. Functions include power, volume up/down, another multi function button for play/pause/skip tracks or answering/declining calls/accessing Siri.
// Sound Quality
For sound quality, just like all Bose products it’s very crisp and clear with a balanced sound profile with an emphasis on highs and it’s not bass heavy, which again is similar to other Bose products. However, a trick if you want more bass and less highs is to simply turn the front of the speaker away from you pointing the woofer speaker on the back to you and the main speaker away, reducing the highs. That is something to consider though with this speaker is that the sound profile changes whether you're listening to it from the front of the speaker or the rear, so it's not quite uniform sound like you could find on some other portable speakers.
It charges via USB-C and comes with a USB type A to USB-C cable which is about 19 inches long but doesn’t come with a wall adaptor.
Overall, another fantastic product from Bose.
