Pro-Level Quality + Amazing Versatility
on October 9, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
Before we get into the drone itself, if you’re trying to decide between the drone itself and the Fly More combo, get the combo. I haven’t regretted this with all the DJI drones I’ve had in the past including the original Mavic Air and the Air 2S. It’s a great deal for the money with accessories that in my opinion aren’t really accessories - they’re just things a drone pilot will need.
For the drone itself, I’m in love with the unmatched versatility with its triple lens setup. It makes flying a drone much less stressful where I can get the shot I want with much less flight time. Having 3 lenses also broadens the kind of shots I can capture with its 3X and 7X lens. It allows for amazing close up shots of subjects extremely far away, almost making them seem like they were taken with a DLSR. I can’t express enough how much versatility this offers which is one of the main reasons to get this drone.
The image quality is also amazing - the shots I have attached are straight out of the drone - no filters as the kids say. There’s a little bit of noise with the 3X and 7X lens but it’s really only noticeable when compared to the main 4/3” Hasselblad camera which produces some mind-blowing image quality. You can also tell that the dynamic range is quite good maintaining the brightness of the sun while not darkening the rest of the image. These photos also show the versatility of the lenses - each shot was taken at the exact same location, just with the different lenses. The widest shot shows the quality of the Hasselblad camera - amazing - and the 7X lens is kind of mind-blowing where it can zoom in for an incredible amount of detail. I did not have the ND filters installed for the attached photos but they certainly are handy allowing to adjust shutter speeds to the desired range.
The flight time is also stellar where it has around a 35-40 minute flight time. Flight time will depend on many factors like wind as well as how fast you fly it. Paired with the triple lens setup, it makes for a completely different kind of flying experience where there isn’t the stress of trying to get the shot while making sure your battery doesn’t run out.
I also noticed that the propeller noise was significantly quieter than previous drones I’ve owned which makes this less of a nuisance for both myself and anyone else that may be around.
Coming from DJI drones that required me to use my phone as a display for the remote, the DJI RC is just awesome where I don’t have to mess around with mounting my phone. The display on the RC is also a nice size (5.5”) with a good resolution (1920 x 1080) and it’s also plenty bright at 700 nits. I had zero issues viewing the display outside in direct sunlight.
The 8GB of on-board storage is also very handy - especially for people like me who have certainly driven to a shot location only to realize that I forgot a memory card (face palm).
When it comes to the combo I’ve found these to be a great value with all my previous DJI drones. Even though it has ~40 minute flight time, as a drone pilot you will need additional batteries. All in all you could in theory have around 2 hours of total flight time with all 3 batteries without needing to recharge. Then there’s the charging dock for the batteries which makes it so I can even charge the spare batteries while I’m flying. It also comes with a 100 watt USB adaptor with 2 USB C cables so again, plenty of versatility here where I can not only charge up my drone, controller, or batteries, I can also use it to charge other devices that use USB C. And to store it all it comes with a very nice carrying bag that’s tailor made for everything that comes in the kit where everything fits perfectly - again something that I’ve really found useful with these combo kits.
I feel like this drone allows us non-*actual* professional drone pilots (like those $15K+ drones) to have pro level features at an attainable price. It’s probably the true definition of “prosumer” with tons of capabilities and very few limitations. This drone has changed the flying experience for me considerably. I can’t recommend it enough!

Meet the new Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum. Its ultra-intelligent detect suite gives you 4 deep-cleaning technologies that detect & react to their surroundings. DirtDetect senses the hidden dirt that hides in your home, and automatically boosts power to pull it in. EdgeDetect senses edges and corners and doubles suction* power for more powerful cleaning* (vs. ECO mode). FloorDetect senses carpets and hard floors around your home, and optimizes your vacuum’s performance based on the floor type. Lastly, LightDetect automatically illuminates dark spaces, so you can easily track down hidden dirt. All four of these technologies combine in the Shark Detect Pro to give you up to 50% better* dirt pickup (*Based on ASTMF608, eco vs. boost). Never swap nozzles with the QuadClean Multi-Surface brush roll that tackles four cleaning targets: fine dust, pet hair, large debris, and dust along edges. For incredible maneuverability, Detect Pro gives you full-sized* cordless power, in a 30% lighter** frame (*vs. IZ862H, **Based on ASTMF608, vs IZ540H). Change the way you clean with the new Shark Detect Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum.

Quiet, Lightweight, and Powerful!
on September 21, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
The first thing that struck me about this vacuum is how quiet it is. In the eco mode, it’s quiet enough where you can still hold a conversation with someone or still be able to hear music playing on a bluetooth speaker. In the Auto mode where it adjust suction based on the amount of dirt it detects, it’s fairly quiet as well.
Another impressive thing about this vacuum is that it provides a great deal of suction which surprised me since its so small and light.
The automatic “DirtDetect” feature does a really good job at sensing the surface and amount of dirt, automatically adjusting the amount of suction.
The brush head attachment also does a great job at picking up debris from both hard surfaces as well as carpets. I have fairly thick carpet in my bedroom and it’s able to pick up dirt while also not getting bogged down with the thicker carpet fibers. On thinner carpet or hard surfaces, it has this very light feel to it where it almost feels like it’s floating over the surface. Kind of hard to explain but it makes maneuvering it very easy.
The only complaint I have is that I wish it came with a wall mount when not in use where it would also charge it. It does have this clever way of using the brush head as a stand when not in use but I feel at this price point it should include an attachment like that.
For its size and weight, this vacuum packs a punch offering a good amount of versatility with its included brush head and nozzle attachment.

A Great Smart Lock w/ Looks! (once it’s set up)
on September 20, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
When it comes to smart lock features, this has a ton from an auto-unlock feature, being able to unlock it with my Apple Watch, connected features like being able to check on your door status, remote unlocking/locking, guest users, it really has anything and everything that one would need.
When it comes to setup, they have very well thought out instructions through their Yale app. You simply scan a QR code, it identifies your lock, and off you go. The installation procedure is very straight forward but pairing with the app and calibration was a bit frustrating, but I figured it out in the end.
For installation, you’ll simply remove your existing deadbolt, install the keypad, the deadbolt, and then the back plate and rotating lock. Installation of the hardware took about 20 minutes. If your door and existing holes for the deadbolt match the out of the box configuration, all you should really need is a screwdriver. My house is about 15 years old and I did not have to do any special drilling, boring, or anything like that.
From there you’ll need to set it up with the Yale app. This was the part of the process that wasn’t as easy. Initially, the app could not find the lock via bluetooth. After resetting my bluetooth on my phone it found it. That part could have very well been my phone and not the lock, so no points docked for that.
After that it will guide you through a calibration procedure where you’ll need to open, close, lock, and unlock the lock so it learns how far to engage the cylinder. Although the app was guiding me through the process, the lock wasn’t actually doing anything. I tried this repeatedly and it would always get stuck at the “Completing calibration” screen. I waited for up to 10 minutes on each attempt where that screen wouldn’t go away nor did I get an error message.
After going through this procedure 3 times, I decided to do a factory reset on the lock and this did the trick. This time around, while going through the setup process it prompted for a firmware update and then the setup process was much smoother where the calibration process actually locked and unlocked the, well, lock and finally finished setup.
After that hiccup, it works great. I absolutely love that I can just have it unlock automatically when I walk up to my door if I have my phone with me, the convenience of the keypad is obviously nice, and it’s great that I can invite guests by sharing access. The lock itself looks great too and I love the fact that the keypad is very subtle and doesn’t scream “smart lock”.
Although I had some issues during setup I think this is a great product. I more just put that information in this review so others can benefit from it in case they run into the same issue. Just reset it to factory settings and it should be smooth sailing after that.

Nearly perfect sport earbuds!
on September 15, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
These earbuds strike a great balance between sound quality, fit and security, as well as durability - a solid option for anyone looking for a great sounding, sports-oriented pair of earbuds.
Fit and Security
When it comes to fit, these have a nice blend of comfort and security where they are surprisingly secure for sports considering they don’t have “wings” like a Beats Fit Pro but still quite comfortable with the soft-feeling material they use for the outside of the buds. They feel very light in the ears while still staying put.
IP68
These earbuds have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance which is far higher than most popular earbuds available around this price range. Being that I use earbuds primarily for sports, this is a very important feature for me with plenty of sweat.
Sound Quality
I’ve been a big fan of the sound quality and signature of Jabra earbuds for quite some time and these continue that trend. In fact the reason for these is that sadly I lost one side of my Elite 9’s :( These deliver on all ranges from very crisp highs all the way to deep lows and everything in between. The clarity and depth is far beyond what you can get out of most earbuds in this price range and this is just with the standard, “flat” EQ. It also has a customizable EQ with preset sound profiles as well as custom profiles that you can set up. I tend to like the "energize" preset.
Dolby Spatial Sound
I found the Dolby Spatial Sound feature to be odd and the level of oddness depends on which sound mode you use (ANC/Transparency/Off). With the sound mode set to “off”, enabling the Dolby Spatial Sound feature makes the music sound hollow and like the artist is underwater. When using the “HearThrough” mode, the vocals start to get echoey and even more so with Active Noise Cancellation. I heard that this was a highlight feature but I found it to not usable and poorly artificial. But the sound profile/signature without it is so good that I just don’t find a use for that feature.
Active Noise Cancellation and HearThrough
Active noise cancellation works well for masking out most outside sound but louder, high pitch sounds can still get through. The HearThrough transparency mode works well for ambient sound but voices sounded a little muffled. Both these modes are good and work well for the most part but not quite as good as the AirPods Pro 2.
Battery Life
Battery life is amazing with an advertised up to 8 hours of use with ANC and 14 hours without. It’s stunning to see how much battery life remains even after plenty of use.
Even with the lackluster Dolby Spatial Sound feature, I'm still giving these 5 stars due to all the other features which work perfect for me. Highly recommended!

Super premium, super smooth!
on June 13, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
This is a well-built, high-quality mouse pad with an incredibly smooth surface! A solid upgrade to my premium gaming setup.
I’m not sure how you could get any better than this when it comes to the quality and construction - the tempered glass surface is stunningly perfect with beveled and rounded edges and adds a super-premium look to your desk. Being made of glass I was a bit worried it would be glossy but it has a matte finish to it which resists fingerprints and also seems to not show any oils from your skin.
The top provides a very fast, smooth surface with little to no friction - I’m using it with a Logitech MX Master 3 and the experience is awesome.
The matte texture doesn’t make it completely silent though where I can hear the friction from the surface to my mouse, however that could just be the particular material that’s used on the bottom of the MX Master 3.
Another thing to note is that it’s quite large! I saw the photos and read the specs but didn’t truly realize the size of this until seeing it in person.

High-quality and easy to install
on June 4, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
Other than being a very sturdy and well-built product, the other big highlight of this mount is that it’s a breeze to install with easy to follow setup instructions.
Upon immediately opening the box, I was greeted with a handy, paper wall template which is used as a guide to figure out placement on my wall. They also have the full instruction manual which was easy to follow and it’s very well-written.
For mounting I basically had to install the brackets to the back of my TV, mount the wall bracket to the wall with the appropriate hardware (it includes these gigantic 2-3/4” lag bolts for studs and it also includes concrete anchors), I then just placed my TV on the wall bracket, then secured it into place with the bottom brackets. From there all I had to do is make leveling and height adjustments.
What’s great about the setup process is that I didn’t need to have the wall mount exactly perfect when I screwed it into the wall - there are leveling and height adjustments that can be used for fine tuning once the TV is installed. I found this to be incredibly convenient. Overall the installation took about 10-15 minutes.
The mount itself is incredibly sturdy - I’ve purchased some “cheap” mounts before and they were in fact, cheap. This isn’t the cheapest mount around but it really does come down to “you get what you pay for”. The brackets are solid, they’re weatherproofed, and the hardware is all stainless steel.
The mount allows for 7 degrees of upwards tilt and 10 degrees of downward tilt so there’s a good amount of flexibility there considering the mount itself only made my TV sit a little over 2 inches away from the wall.
Being that this is an outdoor mount, they also make it convenient to remove the TV when needed where they have straps on each side of the TV brackets hidden behind the TV which release the bottom locks to then store the TV away.
Highly impressed by this mount for the construction, the well-thought out instructions, and easy installation.

Super Smart, Tons of Insights!
on May 27, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
Having used body composition scales for years, plus being someone who tracks these metrics seriously, I can say this is a great scale that provides tons of insights, it has a well-thought out companion app, and it also integrates well with Apple Health to provide a more well-rounded picture of your health.
The scale itself is quite attractive with a glass top and metal accents. The display is very easy to read where it’s bright and has a lot of contrast. When taking a measurement, it will display your weight (of course ;) but it also shows your weight trends over the last 7 weigh-ins. Then it proceeds to measure and display your BMI, Fat Mass, Muscle Mass, Body Water percentage, Bone Mass, and Visceral Fat.
Beyond that, and these are metrics that I haven’t really seen before on a body comp scale, it can display your heart rate, vascular age, EDA (electrodermal Activity), and then it can also display information that’s synced over wifi like the weather, air quality, and also your step count which can be synced over from your health platform of choice (like Apple Health).
In terms of the body composition metrics, these seem to be very similar to another similarly priced body comp scale from another manufacturer I have. What’s interesting though is they have an “Athlete Mode” but that doesn’t seem to affect the composition percentages. I’ve found that most scales that measure body composition via impedance tend to have a harder time with the lower body fat percentages of athletes. I tend to hover around 10% (known through DEXA scans I get every couple years) but this is about the same as other scales I've used where it reports around 14-15%. Although I wish it was more inline with actual, this is something I’ve gotten used to with consumer body composition scales and realistically, the trends are more important than an exact percentage.
The additional vascular age metric was particular interesting to me being that I suffer from high blood pressure so this helps provide another data point beyond just my blood pressure reading which I monitor with a blood pressure cuff.
The app displays all of this information in a well-thought-out and nicely designed interface. Everything is easy to use and understand and what I like quite a bit is all the supporting information on what each of these metrics actually mean.
Using this scale does require using it with the app and setting up an account but I couldn’t imagine benefiting from the wealth of information it can collect without the app.
Another feature I liked about the app is that it can connect to Apple Health and the neat thing about this integration is that it can pull information from Apple Health into the app such as steps, heart rate, and even fitness metrics, along with updating Apple Health with the information that the scale collects.
Overall, this is a fantastic scale if you’re looking for nearly every data point imaginable along with a very seamless and friendly app experience.

Wide, Zoom, Close-Up…Super Versatile!
on May 24, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
My previous favorite Sony full frame lens was the 24-105 F4 but this new 20-70 F4 is my new go-to lens.
The range on the 24-105 is quite versatile but there are two complaints I have about it: it wasn’t wide enough for vlog-style shots and the minimum focus distance was lengthy (0.38 meters/1.25 feet). The 20mm on this 20-70mm makes it much more usable for vlog-style shots and allows much more of the background to get into the frame. It also allows for expansive cityscape and landscape shots and more creative shots at low angles.
One feature of this 20-70mm that may not be as well-known is the minimum focus distance where you can be as close as .25 meters or 0.82 feet from your subject allowing to get near macro-level detail. Compared to the 105mm at 1.25 feet vs the 70mm at 0.82 feet, you’re able to get much more detail.
Another great thing about this lens is its size where it’s quite compact and lightweight considering its range and speed. Pairing this with the new ZV-E1 is a killer combo where you get all the full-frame goodness along with a versatile lens.
I wouldn’t get too caught up that this is “only” an F4. The super fast G-Master lenses are great lenses but I’ve found that with enough separation of your subject with the background, F4 is plenty fast enough and you can still get plenty of bokeh.
For the controls, the focus ring is nice and smooth, the aperture ring has both click and de-click modes in the scenario where you need to ensure you’re not shifting your aperture, and it also has two customizable buttons.
I literally don’t have any complaints about this lens - its the lens I’ve been waiting for!

Quiet, Efficient, Great Looking
on May 20, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
I was in search for an air purifier for my large living room where I spend a lot of time including using that space for workouts and this was perfect for my needs.
The first thing that struck me about this air purifier is just how good looking it is. I can easily have this sitting in plain sight and it fits right in.
Other than looks, the other thing that struck me was how quiet it is where it’s basically silent at the lowest fan speed, it’s very faint at half speed, 3/4 speed is kind of like a light hum, and at full speed you can certainly here it but I could still have it on full speed and watch TV without much interruption.
Setup is incredibly simple. The first thing that’s nice about the setup is that you’ll actually slide the unit out from its box vs having to lift it - a very nice touch. All you have to do then is just plug it in, fire up the Blueair app on your phone and add the device. I have a previous generation Blueair purifier so I already had an account set up but you’’ll have to create an account to get it paired with the app.
The app is well designed and provides plenty of information like the current air quality, a breakdown of different size particulates that are currently detected as well historical data, your filter status and if you need to replace it, you can switch between the auto mode where it adjusts fan speed based on particulates or you can adjust the fan speed manually, you can enable a night mode where it disables the LEDs on the outside of the device, and you can also create a schedule.
In addition to the app it has touch controls on the unit itself for all of the functions and you can also cycle through the particulate information that are currently detected.
This particular 211i model is fairly large (a little shorter than a 13 gallon trash can but just a bit wider) so make sure to check the dimensions before purchasing but it’s surprisingly light so it’s easy to move around for the most part.
Literally the only thing I would like on this product are some handles on the side in situations where I would like to move it to a different room. Other than that this is a fantastic, quiet, and attractive air purifier that does an amazing job for large spaces.

Analog Satisfaction!
on May 5, 2023
Posted by: gwtbike
This speaker is a nice blend of technology with the satisfaction and fine adjustment of analog controls, all with the classic look of a Marshall amp.
I’m a pretty big fan of the design of Marshall’s home audio products where they stand apart from the maybe-too-modern look of most electronics nowadays where it brings some classic design like a mesh speaker grill, the leather-ish looking material surrounding the speaker (appears to be rubber), and the brass analog controls on the top of the unit.
The analog controls on the top of the unit are awesome for fine-tuning the volume, treble, and bass and there’s a distinct satisfaction vs just up/down buttons that you typically find. Along with that you also have an aux port (3.5mm), a button to switch sources from bluetooth, aux, or RCA (yes it even has RCA jacks on the back), there’s also a play/forward/back toggle/button, as well as the power switch which is probably the most satisfying to use.
For sound, unsurprisingly, rock sounds amazing with the sound signature they chose for this speaker where guitars are crisp and earthy, bass is deep but not overly punchy, and vocals are clear and crisp.
Hip-hop also sounds great with a very clear distinction between vocals and beats.
Overall, vocals are a highlight of the sound signature so singer-songwriters will sound fantastic.
Electronica didn’t seem to fit the characteristics of this speaker as well where the low end may not be as forward and clear as other speakers, even while adjusting the bass level.
One thing to note though is that if you’re looking for smart-home-like connectivity options you’ll have to look elsewhere - it only has bluetooth 5.2 and doesn’t have Google Assistant or Alexa support however you can pair it with the Marshall smartphone app where you can adjust the equalizer settings wirelessly.
Happy to add this to my collection of Marshall gear - great sound, awesome design, all with that retro feel.
