Preguel that is better than the first

Director Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Absentia) follows the first Ouija film with this prequel & like with his earlier films I feel he did a very good job. For those whove seen the first film youll recognize the story as the back story that was told in that film but more fleshed out. While I'm probably one of the few who enjoyed the first film this one is the better film with some good atmosphere & some decent chills. Basic plot is a widowed mother & her daughters run a psychic business to make ends meet, the mom decides to add a Ouija board for her work, they ignore the rules & you can all guess what follows. The cast for the most part did a good job here & the film itself tries not to show too much of the supernatural elements which works well here. Special features include commentary, making of, interviews & deleted scenes. If you like the first film or just like supernatural films like Insidious or The Conjuring give Ouija: Origin of Evil a chance. One last thing, make sure to stay until after the credits (or fast forward through them) as there is an extra scene that further connects the 2 Ouija films.

Not as good as first one

"Stake Land 2" was the SyFy TV-14 title. The film is also being marketed under the title "Stakelander." Martin (Connor Paolo) gives us a quick recap of the first film by telling his daughter a story. However, don't get attache as in the next scene, a horde lead by a female vamp destroys New Eden (Canada). Martin seeks revenge and wants to enlist the help of his mentor, Mister (Nick Damici). He seeks to find him, a path that takes him to a place named "Donnersville." Okay, I give them points for that.
Like most sequels, they are never as good as the first and always leave themselves open for another sequel...even when you destroy the entire planet like that second ape picture. They live in "the new Dark Ages" as we find some history being told, and another battle between us and them.

A very depressing horror movie

“Dogs don’t got teeth like this.” Lizzy (Ballentine) and her mother Kathy (Kazan) have a strained relationship. After a day of screaming and fighting they are finally on the way back to Lizzy’s father’s. What starts off as a quiet tension filled drive changes when they accidentally hit a wolf. Things get deadly when they realize they aren’t alone, but neither knows what they are dealing with. This is a strange movie. On one hand it’s a little like Cujo with a mother and child stuck in a car trying to survive. On the other hand, it’s one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. The drama and acting gets you invested in the characters and when they get attacked it means something beyond a cookie cutter monster movie. This is a movie where I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I didn’t expect this. The movie is a decent watch and worth your time. Overall, the most depressing horror movie I have ever seen. I wasn’t sure whether to be scared or cry. I give this a B-.

Fun 80s movie

The original movie is a complete classic and no sequels really needed to be made but you know the 80's and the way they used to like churning out the sequels, poltergeist 2 is no where near as good as the original but it is still a great fun 80's horror with minor scares, the effects still look cool and there are some good practical scary effects etc, the credit is mainly due to the great cast from the original all returning to play their roles again as the family having to protect their daughter Carol Anne played by the talented Heather O Rourke who sadly passed after filming the third poltergeist movie (which was a better sequel) this sequel adds many new things to the mix and gets a bit messy and wasn't really well thought out but its still a fun 80's movie and has all the classic formula, check it out of course if your a fan of the series, its still better than the remake (2015)
Lots of great special features from Shout Factory. So much better than the no frills MGM release. The Shout Factory edition is the only one to buy.

This is by far the longest horror movie I've ever seen, but it is gripping throughout. Along with movies like 'Train to Busan', Asia continues to make great horror.

Entertaining , fun movie

A Fish and Game worker is doing a survey of beavers in a placid lake with the local sheriff when he suddenly becomes half the man he was and dies. Local law enforcement, Fish and Game, and a New York museum worker set out to discover what happened. They are soon joined by an eccentric millionaire who loves crocodiles.
Is there a crocodile in the lake? At first few believe that such a thing could be until hard evidence shows up. The Crocodile is not an ordinary one, it is thirty feet in length. The camp is quickly split between those who want to kill it and those who want to save it. To learn it's fate you will have to watch the film.
This is a very well-done piece of work. The characters are interesting and there is just enough sarcastic humor to really lighten the mood. Betty White plays a foul-mouthed local resident and her delivery of her "I'm rooting for the crocodile" line is an instant classic. This is a fun film and far from typical. It is not just a giant-lizard-eating-people film. Check it out.

Great in 3D

I was a HUGE fan of the original Independence Day movie when it came out in 1996 and when I saw that movie was getting a sequel after all these years I was ecstatic! What was even more awesome is that most of the original cast was returning! So we got to see Judd Hirsch, Vivica Fox, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, and Brent Spiner again in their same roles. That was awesome! And Brent Spiner? You wouldn't think a day had passed the way he easily slid back into the roll of Dr. Okun!
I am also glad they stuck with continuity where the actual aliens themselves were inside bio-mechanical suits and when they opened, you could see what the real aliens looked like. It was also good to see that we had used the alien technology to improve our own defenses and upgrade our military.
Overall, I loved it! I loved the action, I loved the special effects, and I loved the aliens! Any fan of the original movie will really get a kick out of this! Check it out!
The Queen Alien in the end of film was so neat to look at. The 3D is far superior to the 2 D version .

Shout Factory Has the Best Collector's Editions

What a great package! I never thought I would see Carrie look like this! For many years now the release has been riddled with soft focus and speckled images with dirt and dust, This blu ray release is a revelation! The image now has detail and the color image is improved. The sound now fills my room!
Nice to have extras with most of the cast members! You can't go wrong with this one! Shout Factory always has the best collector's edition blu rays. Love the special art work and reversible sleeve.

Keep the sharks a coming SyFy

I love that these movies are still being made. In my personal opinion, I think they keep getting better as the series progresses. Syfy realizes they have a hit on their hands, and they're gonna keep making them bigger, better, sillier, campier and cheesier. The 4th Awakens title is obviously a spoof of 'Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and I was happy when this film opened with the Star Wars type scroll. The trailer was very misleading, I thought the whole film was gonna take place in Las Vegas over a course of one night, but that was just the opening act.
The film takes place five years after the events of Sharknado 3. Since then, Aston Reynolds has developed the Astro-X corporation and its weather-regulating technology. Fin Shepard and his family have lived in peace and he decides to take a vacation in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, a new Sharknado awakens and puts everyone in peril once again. Not only is it just a Sharknado, but now they are more powerful Fueled by alternate materials, we're now faced with sandnados, oilnados, firenados, bouldernados, cownados, lightningnados and even an atomicnado. Will Fin and his family be able to stop these newer tougher Sharknados? I loved all the random cameos and references to other films such as The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even John Carpenter's Christine. I think this is my 2nd favorite after Sharknado 2: The Second One. If you love bad cheesy campy B-movies, you'll definitely love SHARKNADO: THE 4TH AWAKENS!!!

Finally a restored version of a classic werewolf.

The movie made its hi-def debut on the defunct HD-DVD format in 2006. Universal would then recycle that transfer for its initial bluray release a couple of years later in 2008 as the Full Moon Edition. While a definite improvement over previous DVD editions of the film, the first bluray left room for improvement. The picture quality was often noisy with poorly resolved & clumpy grain structures which robbed the film of its visual potential. Colors and skin tones were also a little bit washed out looking too while black levels suffered a bit.
Flash forward to 2016 and Universal decided to do a new 6K scan/restoration of the film for another bluray release in time for the film's 35 anniversary that same year. It was released in a new bluray dubbed the "restored edition".
The picture quality on the restored edition disc has proven to be quite controversial with a lot of people. Some say it is a big improvement over the initial disc while others claim Universal went overboard with DNR (Digital Noise Reduction). I did direct comparisons with the Full Moon Edition and can safely say that the Restored Edition blows it away in terms of picture quality. Film grain is still there, it is just much better resolved than the previous bluray. The detail is far superior on the new transfer too as I can now make out all kinds of details in the background of shots that were imperceptible on the old disc. I think what is happening is that some people upon seeing the first images of the new transfer are taken aback by how much cleaner and smoother the image looks. This is due to how noisy and bad in comparison the old bluray looked. What people were mistakenly pointing to as film grain on the old disc was actually digital noise which obscured detail. Claims that the new transfer is artificially sharpened are false too. At no point did I feel that the new transfer looked too waxy or smooth. The movie now looks amazing! Detail is immaculate. Colors are better along with improved black levels and contrast. As I previously mentioned, I did direct comparisons between the two and the new disc smokes the old transfer in my eyes.
Sadly no new extras are present but all of the previous extras which were informative were ported over. Audio seems to be as good as it was before.
I am very picky when it comes to bluray transfers of classic films and can say that the Restored Edition represents a very noticeable improvement in terms of picture quality. Highly recommended!
