This laptop has many things going for it. For a PC, it feels pretty sturdy (compared to, for example, a 2011 MacBook Air) given its metal body. But it has a few fatal flaws which translate to making it unusable, for me at least. The first is the trackpad is very erratic. It will work fine sometimes for the first 10-15 minutes, then it begins to just freeze up. By freezing up, I mean I will slide my finger across the trackpad in ANY direction at ANY amount of pressure and the pointer will not move. I must wait another half second, try again, then if I'm lucky the pointer will move. While using a bluetooth mouse, this did not happen so I am assuming this is an abnormality of the model, or maybe just the one I happened to get.
I also experienced multiple episodes of the "display driver" not working and the computer freezing up. I deleted driver, reloaded it and that did not seem to make a difference. There may be more options for that problem but given the trackpad issue, and the vitality of that, I'm not willing to explore it.
At $550, it is decently priced with a beautiful screen, good amount of RAM and great SSD (toshiba also). But I need a portable laptop that can function as such and this is not that laptop.

I think this will be a really good tool in about 18-24 months. As of right now, I'll be returning it. There is an annoying delay from device to device, I never expect seamless but this is just clunky and non-working at some points. It seems the combination of bluetooth and wifi is holding harmony back?

I decided I wanted to be more bi-operating system and the tablets Samsung have been putting out the past few years have caught my eye, especially given I only have one eye that works and the size of some of these tablets are insane. I took a leap of faith and instead of upgrading to the new iPad x360, I decided to give this a try. It's been a month and i like 1. The screen and accessibility features, 2. The limitless amount of apps available, 3. The freedom to get things done while the tablet upgrades many things in the background on a daily basis (it can't do this at night like Apple?) Who knows what I'll do when it comes time to upgrade, allot will depend on is it going to be Airplay or Chromecast who will let me use multiple speakers from the pad/tab without all the 3rd party grief..

Does this work with in a MacBook Pro mid-2012?
it works, but not as fast as in a PC. Now, I found if you can get another SSD (any type, and you can even borrow one as you will only need it for about an hour) and use one of the HD clone programs (CC Cloner, etc.), the magic seems to be to clone your old HD to another SSD, thennnn, clone that SSD to your new (or whichever is the better SSD of the two) SSD, and then you can really see the SSD working in the IOS environment.

Is there proprietary software with this drive? My normal hard drive crashed, took all the software with it, now I have a SSD EVO850 250GB model MZ-74E250B, installed with no software.,
I'm not sure about your question but I'll give it a try...it does come with Samsung Magician and Data Migration (which works only you are transferring your old drive to a new Samsung ssd)...but it will only copy from a functioning hard drive (I think). You might have to try one of the partition programs which claim to be able to rescue data that has been erased and/or damaged). They have never worked for me so try out the freeware titles before spending your money on anything.
