Peace of Mind at a great price
on November 12, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
I decided to pick one of these up for my mother since she tends to go off on her own around town a lot. She is aging, and there is a bunch of Riff Raffle in town now a days, so I thought this would be an excellent personal safety / alarm for her to carry around with her at all times. I remember she used to carry a similar device ( without the smart features) when I was a kid, she said it made her feel a little safer knowing she could trigger it and alert people around her. I am sure many of you are familiar with those type of personal safety alarms, Swann has taken it to the next level with this device. I am honestly quite impressed with the tech they have packed into this little device. It has bluetooth, and will text your emergency contact to alert them that the alarm has been triggered. If you subscribe to the service, I believe Swann will contact you and emergency services for you. I could be wrong but it seems that Swann will text a message to your personal contacts even without a subscription.
The device is small, fits easily in the palm of my hand. It includes a battery, lanyard and a carabiner style link for it. It has a lock so it isn't accidentally triggered, but honestly you gotta give it a nice strong tug to activate it, so I think you'd be safe leaving it unlocked and ready at all times. The red button can be pulled to trigger the siren and alert your contact, or you can just press a button and it will alert your contact and not trigger the siren. I can see that coming quite handy if you are ever in a dangerous situation and need to remain stealthy. My one and only complaint about it, is that it advertises to be 110 decibels and it definitely does not get that loud.I actually tested it with my brothers Apple Watch, and it measured it at about 80 decibels. Still loud, but not what's advertised. Don't know if it's a glitch, defect or just my device, but it should be a little louder. Would I recommend this product?
YES! They are very inexpensive and provide peace of mind for your loved ones.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sophisticated laser-based object avoidance ensures the job gets done without hangups. And with a full Auto-Empty Station that self empties, washes and dries the mop, you can keep your hands free from cleaning. Handy, indeed.

Awesome Little Robot Vac
on November 4, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
My girlfriend and I are pretty busy people. We like to keep our apartment clean, so we usually take quite a bit of time out of our busy schedules to clean. So having the Yeedi Cube Robot Mop/Vacuum
around to do some of the chores that we do often is a big help and time saver. It was super easy to set up. Right out of the box, everything is pretty much put together already. You just have to remove a few protective stickers, connect a couple of parts to the robot and set up the app on your phone. When you do the first run, it recommends to just run the vacuum setting. You set it into the base, open the doors to every room in your place that you would like for it to explore and learn and let it go. It was really cool watching the little robot maneuver its way around our apartment. I let it map its way around our living room, kitchen and restroom. Our bedroom and closet aren't very big and have lots of obstacles for it to avoid so we opted to clean those ourselves. Anyway! After the first run, the app saves your floor layout and you can choose which rooms you would like mopped or vacuumed and you can even set a schedule to let it auto run. I didn't set a schedule, and just manually start it with the app, since I would like to be home while it is doing its thing. Just in case it has a little accident. But in my week of using it, the only problem it's run into is that it got caught in the power cable of my internet modem. That's my fault, I should have better cable management. But keep that in mind. Make sure you try not to leave too many things laying around that it could get caught on. Other than that, it has been working great. It maneuvers its way around chairs, tables, very well. It even goes underneath our couch to clean! lol I loved that. Our mop and old fashioned vacuum don't fit under the couch, so having the little guy run under there to clean for us is so cool. The base (station) will automatically empty the dust bin of the robot vac, and will also empty out the dirty mop water into a tank for you to clean out later. Our apartment isnt very big, so I can do about 3 mop jobs before I need to empty out the tank. The Base has a vacuum bag inside that needs to be emptied out also. I'm not sure if it needs to be dumped yet, or if the bags are one time uses. It came with 4 bags in total. I think Im going to use them until they look worn. I'm pretty sure they are reusable for a few times. You can buy all the accessories for the little robot through the app, or by browsing online retailers. The Yeedi app has a bunch of settings in the app for the robot, You can choose quick clean, vacuum only. Vacuum and Mop. You can set how much water you would like it to use, and even change settings for the power of the vacuum. I'm not entirely sure if you can use a cleaning solution in the tank. I've just been using bottled water. (the water in my area has a lot of calcium and minerals in it) So to be on the safe side, I use purified or boiled water, so that it doesn't clog the machine with calcium. I can't find any type of soapy water to use in the vacuum, but it seems to do a decent job at mopping with just plain water. When I empty out the tank, the water is quite dirty. I was surprised! It does a pretty decent job at vacuuming dust and small trash / food crumbs. I like that you can even have it just do a spot clean in any area of your home. All in All, I am very happy with the Yeedi cube. It is so easy to use, so easy to maintain, and having the little robot running around helping with the chores is so cool. I kind of feel like it's a pet of ours lol. I named it Lurch. I love it, and I think you will also.
Pros: Very Easy to Set Up and Maintain
The sensors are quite accurate, and it maneuvers its way around nicely
Vacuums and Mops without wetting your rugs.
Cons: Have to purchase vacuum bags and mop pads, as well as filters every now and then
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fun camera but takes a lot of practice to shoot
on November 1, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
I’ll start my review by saying that I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve when it comes to cameras. I own quite a few lol, I love shooting photos and have been doing so for the past 30 years so. I’ve got thousands of photos in my digital / physical collection. Anyway.. the Polaroid Instant Now is a cool little instant camera. People genuinely smile with excitement when I take it out to snap a photo. It is very fun and joyful to be able to snap a photo of family and friends at a get together and then hand it to them. People typically respond very positively to having a snapshot taken and gifted to them with this Polaroid camera. Because of the experience that you get to have and share with family and friends with this type of camera, I recommend that you buy one and have around for special situations. The build quality of the camera is quite decent. It’s mostly plastic but it feels sturdy and rigid. It kind of creaks a little if I squeeze it too hard, I was afraid there might be some light leaks in the camera but it is fine. It has a rechargeable battery that charges with a usb C cable and will get you through a pack of film. I typically charge it a bit before refilling it with another pack. I believe it states that it will shoot 15 photos before needing a charge. So that’s about 2 packs of film. It has a built in flash that you can turn off by the press of a button. It focuses automatically and is easy to load film into. The viewfinder is pretty accurate, and the big red button for snapping a photo is easy to find while your eye is upto it. The camera has a “tongue” that pops out when you snap a photo and covers / protects the film when it slides out. Sometimes I leave the film there for a minute to let it start developing a bit before removing. Polaroid recommends that you leave it in a dark place for 10-15 minutes while it fully develops. No need to shake it! My only complaint about the camera is that the exposure tends to be hit or miss. I’m still trying to perfect the method for getting an accurate exposure. My photos tend to come out a little dark sometimes. I am going to watch some tutorials and I highly suggest you do the same before shooting photos with this camera. The film isn’t very cheap and it can be a bit of a let down if you get a very dark photo. For that reason I have to dock a star from my review. Would I recommend this camera? Yes. If you can afford to buy film and waste a couple here and there. Your results will always vary when snapping with a Polaroid. I suppose that’s part of the joy / experience. But it comes at a cost.
Pros: Fun experience
Self timer, double exposure and flash control
Cons: Film is expensive

The Goldilocks of earbuds
on October 27, 2023

Ive been using these cool tiny earbuds for the past few days and I gotta say that they are pretty awesome. Battery life is excellent, I’ve yet to charge the tiny case (which recharges the earbuds) and when I put them in this morning for use, the voice told me battery 100%! Jlab claims 5.5 hours per session and 20 hours per case charge. It seems very accurate because I haven’t charged the case since day one and I’m average about 2 hours a day + the one night I fell asleep with them in my ears and the little case still has juice. I gotta mention that when I fell asleep with them on, they didn’t fall out of my ears. Something i appreciate because I tend to lay down for bed with earbuds in so I don’t disturb my partner while listening to podcasts while falling asleep. The buds have a very nice and tight yet comfortable fit. Sound quality is very decent. No it’s not the best I’ve heard, but considering their size and fit. They sound quite good and I have no complaints. If you download the JLab app, which I recommend. You can use an equalizer to give them a bass or treble boost. I like the “JLab signature” preset. It sounds quite nice and balanced to my ears. You can also update the firmware with the app. My only complaint about these earbuds is that the touch controls are a little finicky for my big fingers because the earbuds are so small that my ear covers some of the touch surface of the earbud :D. It’s not a huge deal since you can use the app to control everything. They work, but they take some getting used to. All in all, I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good set of wireless earbuds without spending a ton of money. They’ve held a steady and reliable connection, they connect quickly when I put them in my ears, they sound good and are comfortable in my ears. You don’t need to spend a lot to get great quality. JLab provides an excellent value with these tiny earbuds. The case is so small, I forget that they are in my pocket sometimes!

A must have dor Capturing life’s moments
on October 19, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
I’ve been using the DJI Osmo Action 4 for the past week or so and I have to say that it has quickly grown on me. It’s earned a spot in my daily carry book bag / pocket. I’m no action junkie but this camera has become my go to for recording life and everyday moments. Even though I’m not jumping out of airplanes or riding a motorcycle down a freeway, this camera is perfect for vlogging and documentary style video recording and photo captures. It has an amazing wide angle lens, the built in Rocksteady stabilizer provides a beautiful and clean stable video every time. I choose the standard rocksteady setting because it keeps a good wide angle. I like that it has a “quick shot” function so that I can just pull the action camera out of my pocket or bag and press the record button and it will turn on and start recording at the setting I have pre set. It has a small front facing screen so that you can see make sure you are still in the frame while recording. I pretty much leave the resolution set to 4K 60fps, the front facing screen will not show your frame in that mode (I’m assuming because of power consumption) but it’s ok. All you have to do is lower it to 2.7K and you’ll be good to go. It has a maximum setting of 4K 120fps. Pretty wicked! I popped in a 512gb SD card, and I can get about 9 hours of footage on it at 4K 60fps. Speaking of, the bundle doesn’t come with a micro SD card so don’t forget to get one. The included bundle items are very convenient. I love the magnetic mounting system. You can quickly move the osmo from one mount to another. Battery life is quite good. I’ve recorded about an hour of footage so far and spent quite a bit of time digging through the menus and I’ve yet to charge the battery. It comes with 3 batteries that will charge at the same time in the case, very cool! The 3 batteries will easily get you through an even filled day. I wish the included monopod was collapsible, i feel a little awkward carrying it around lol, but that’s just me. It is great for getting low or high angle shots that you just wouldn’t get using your arms. My only complaint about the camera is that the iOS app seems to be buggy still. I’ve yet to successfully transfer a video from the camera to my iPhone or iPad with the DJI app. It just refuses to do it. I’m sure DJI can fix the app later, but as of today it still hasn’t worked for me for file transfers. But it did lead me to discovering that you can tether the Osmo to your MacBook with a USB C cable to transfer files and use it as a webcam! So cool! It made me so happy to know that I can use my Osmo Action 4 to FaceTime, and to record myself playing guitar on my MacBook with it. I use my MacBook screen to frame my shot and hit the record button. The footage looks and sounds great!
Would I recommend this camera? Most definitely!
You are able to get amazing videos quickly and conveniently that you just couldn’t with a phone. The footage is certainly more stable than any smartphone camera. It has many resolution and frame rate options, it has a 2x digital zoom, hyperlapse, horizon balance and many other software features that make capturing moments so cool with it. I love it, and I think you will to.
Pros: Beautiful and stable video /audio quality
Bundle comes with lots of accessories and 3 batteries.
Compact and super convenient in any situation.
Can be used as a webcam
Cons: the iOS app needs some bug fixes

Solid performer, great battery life and repairable
on October 6, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
This Acer Aspire Vero is a pretty simple “no frills” laptop that has sufficient power for most day to day tasks for the average customer. The sku has a 13th Gen Intel i7 processor with a base clock speed of 1.7ghz. It comes with 16gb of ram which is plenty for most applications. You’ll get 512gb of SSD storage with this machine. It’s fine but I feel like laptops should have a minimum of 1TB now a days. It is easy to fill a 512gb drive. The laptop is very eco friendly, and is the selling point of this machine. It is made of mostly recycled material (plastics). It is surprisingly light but feels sturdy. The chassis and keyboard don’t flex very much at all. The screen has a matte anti reflective coating, so it is quite usable in any lighting. The keyboard is decent, something about it makes me miss keys often when I’m typing. The keys aren’t very tactile and are quite flat. It has a backlight which is a plus, it’s nice and has a pleasant glow. The touchpad is my biggest complaint about this laptop. It tends to glitch a little and doesn’t pick up my finger slides and gestures. So I find myself having to repeat taps and slides more often than I would like to. It does have a left and right click function so there is a positive thing to it. Also the touchpad is aligned more to the left. It isn’t centered. As a right handed person, it fatigues my wrist after a while because I have to turn my hand to the left in an uncomfortable position to use it. The fingerprint sensor is small but reads your fingerprint accurately and quickly. It’s nice for windows hello. The screen is bright enough for most indoor environments, colors and contrast are nice . Not sure on the color accuracy but they look vibrant enough to my eyes. It’s only 1080p but it looks crisp to my 40 yr old eyes. The laptop can handle some light gaming, I wouldn’t recommend it to someone as a gaming laptop but you’ll be able to play some games at low/medium settings. I installed an old MMORPG that I used to play a lot as a teen and that runs flawlessly. The battery life of this machine is what impresses me the most. I haven’t charged it in about 4 or 5 days and I still have about 70% battery life. I would say that was with about 2 hours of YouTube streaming and about another hour web browsing, and gaming for about half an hour on Lineage 2. Not sure what the battery life is claimed to be but I would guess that you can probably get at least 8 hours of casual use before needing to recharge. Quite impressive for a windows laptop with an Intel i7!
The laptop does come with a proprietary charging brick, but it also will take a charge via USB C. It has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 usb C thunderbolt ports, a full size hdmi port and an aux port for headphones. All in all, I think this is a great laptop for anyone who wants a snappy and productive laptop. If you are conscious minded and want to support the use of recycled materials it is an added bonus. The laptop also opens up easily. It has standard Phillips screws and it looks like just about every part is replaceable. Even the speakers, battery and motherboard are easily removable. I think this laptop would be especially useful for businesses, offices and schools because it is more repairable than most laptops these days. It’s a keeper for me and will be using it for photo and web work.

Bring your 90s headset to work day
on October 5, 2023
Posted by: Ponskippa
I’ll start by saying that even though I’m giving these a 5 star rating, don’t expect to be blown away by their sound quality. I’d say that considering what these headphones bring to the table / at the price point they are in, they kind of deserve a five star rating but I also don’t want to steer people in the wrong direction because I could see some people being disappointed with these if they see a five star. Anyway.. I digress. These Jlab headphones have throwback style reminiscent of the headphones that used to come with walkmans in the 90s. So they give me a lil smile / nostalgic trip. They feel pretty similar to those lol. The cushions dont really cover your ears, they just sit on your ear and the sound spills out. Build quality is good, the headband is all metal and the earcups are connected with stiff and rigid plastic. The fabric over the earcups feels like the sponge material the old headphones used to come with but these are definitely made better and will last longer. The microphone can swivel in either direction so you can position it on the left or right side of your head. The earcup doesn’t seem to have a mute button for the microphone, and a power button and volume buttons. Sound quality isn’t going to blow anyone’s mind. But they sound pretty decent. They definitely remind me of the old headphones I had with all my old walkmans. You cant feel much bass through these, but mids and treble sound clean and crisp. I’d say they say their sound profile is is on the flatter side with a hint of bass. What these headphones do excel at is voice communication. I used them in a phone call, PlayStation and Discord chat apps and my friends voices came through very loud and clear. They said my voice came through loud and clear as well. Battery life is great. I’ve yet to charge them even though I’ve used them for at least 6/7 hours over the last couple days. It comes with a usb c cable for charging. Would I recommend these? If you want a great microphone and earphones for working from home / chatting or podcasting. I would say sure! The microphone is pretty good and they get the job done for just about everything else. They don’t have amazing sound quality but it’s nice to just keep
One pair of headphones on when working / chatting / occasional music listening and it’s always fun to have some nostalgic gadgets around the place to use and share.

Great for working remotely or in the office
on October 5, 2023

I've been using this pair of JLab Go Work Wireless Headset to chat with friends, family and coworkers through various applications on my MacBook and iPad mini. They are great for voice communication apps and phone calls / zoom / FaceTime. Voices come through loud, crisp and clear. The microphone picks up my voice great also. I haven't had any complaints about clarity or volume while communicating with this headset on. Build quality is quite nice and premium feeling. The ear pads are very and soft comfortable. My only complaint about them is that I wish they were a tad larger. I have a big head and ears to match so they feel a little small for me. But for most people I think they will be fine. The headband is metal and plastic and has a memory foam type pad on the part that rests on your head. They don't put a lot of pressure on your head or ears so they stay comfortable for long periods of time. The microphone boom is about 5" long and can swivel in either direction making it usable for either ear. The microphone perfectly positions near my mouth. It has a push to mute/unmute button on the ear cup. It charges via USB C and pairs with Bluetooth to just about any device with bluetooth capabilities. I didn't have to download any software or apps to use them. They are easy to pair and use. These headphones aren't very great for music listening, they are tuned quite "flat" to my ears. So I don't think you'll be too impressed with their sound quality for music, movies, etc. I don't think that's what they are intended to be used for BUT they are totally usable for listening to music or videos in a pinch. Would I recommend these? Yes. Especially to those of you who need a quality headset with a very good microphone and comfortable ear cushions for working remotely or in the office.

Bose has set the bar High
on September 25, 2023

I've been listening to music, podcasts, and watching movies with these Bose QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Over The Ear Headphones for the past week and I am smitten with them. They have become my go to / primary dedicated headphones for listening. They are very comfortable for extended listening sessions. I've fallen asleep with them on, I am a side sleeper and they don't bother my ears. I don't fall asleep with headphones on often lol, but the couple times I have.. they did not bother my ears or sleep. Once I woke up with them on the floor, so I guess I knocked them off my head and they did not take any damage. Build quality is excellent, I wouldn't snooze with them everyday or just toss them in a bag without the case though. The headband is quite strong and sturdy. I gave it the old twist / flex test and it doesn't creak at all or feel like it will break. The headband is actually a little flexible. I own quite a few sets of headphones and earbuds ( I won't mention brand names) But These Bose Quiet Comfort are quite possibly the best sounding headsets I've ever owned. My music library touches just about every genre, and it all sounds amazing with these headphones. I like to use the bass booster setting in the Bose app because I like to feel the bass a little, but I leave mids and treble at 0 and every note is loud and crispy clear. The bass does not completely overpower everything else but you can still feel the bass thumping on your temple a little.I think Bose has re-established themselves as the best in sound quality with these. I smile every time I hear a little note or sound I missed / didn't notice before with other headphones before. You definitely will not be disappointed with them. Battery life is excellent but they do take a lil while to charge. So I would recommend topping them off when they get between 20-40% if you plan on being away from a plug for a while. The right ear cup has volume controls, charging port and the power slider. The left ear cup has an AUX port and a button to toggle between "quiet and aware" modes.
Would I recommend these headphones? For sure!
I love them and would gladly buy another pair if I need to replace them.

Expand your Ally's Internal Storage
on September 16, 2023

I've been gaming with this Western Digital 2TB drive installed into my Asus ROG Ally for the past 4 or 5 days and I am pretty impressed with its performance. I haven't run any benchmarks but My ROG Ally boots up pretty much instantly, and majority of the games I have installed onto it, load up rather quickly as well. There is not many options out there for upgrading the ROG Ally's internal storage yet but this is a great option. 2TB is a lot of space for starters. I recently installed Starfield and about 10 other games on it and I still have about 1.3 TB of space available.I've been playing Starfield quite a bit on my Ally and it keeps its speeds constant. It doesn't seem to suffer from any throttling or overheating when loading the different sections of the game. It was really quick and easy to install in my Asus Ally. There is no OS or software on the drive, so you'll have to have a way to clone or reinstall windows onto your device. The Asus ROG Ally has a cloud backup built into the motherboard, that will boot up automatically after installing this drive in it. It made reinstalling the OS and Windows the quickest and easiest experience I've ever had with a windows device. Would I recommend this drive? Most definitely. Especially if you are looking to expand the internal storage of the Asus Ally. Im not 100% certain, but I think it is compatible with the Steam Deck as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Blink video door bell does it detect you even if you don't press the door bell button? Or how it works to notify you? Would you receive alert notification if some one is at door just standing?

Yes, you can choose to have motion detection on and or just doorbell. They both work great. Motion detection is so good on it that it captured a video of my neighbors cat running by chasing a squirrel lol

Does it connect with iOS

I assume that it will, although you might need a lightning to USB C adapter. But I can confirm that it does connect to iPad OS on iPads that have a USB-C port

i have a hard time with my airpods pro my ears are just so small and they always fall out. Will these work better? i just want something that won't fall out so much and use all-day

That’s hard to say, since Ive never had issues with AirPods or AirPods Pro falling out of my ear, but I can say that these are very comfortable. They come with three different sizes of rubber tips so you can find a fit that works for you. But I think the design of these are great and they shouldn’t fall out.
