OK but could be better

Pretty decent dash cam however it could be a bit better. Being that this is from Cobra, having an integrated radar detector built in would be a fantastic idea.
The size is near perfect. It's very small and lightweight. I previously used a Rexing dash cam which is very good albeit a tad bulky looking. This Cobra unit is small and is very discreet. Using the supplied 3M tape, I don't see any issues with this dash cam falling off.
The screen is almost useless as it's so small. In my F150, it's tucked behind my rear view mirror so having the LCD screen is useless for me. All it does for me is let me know it's on and that's about it.
The buttons and menu are quite good. There aren't too many settings to configure however the buttons work fine and is quite intuitive. Seeing the screen is so small, having it be a touch screen would've made it near useless.
As for the "radar" detector bit, that's kind of available with this unit but only if you purchase a subscription. With it, you can get notices of speed traps, cameras and such which is always beneficial. Without the subscription, it's just a normal dash cam.
Assuming you don't get the subscription, this is simply an overpriced dash cam. If you wanted a dash cam, you can get one for far cheaper than this unit. If this thing had integrated radar detector built in or the subscription prices were a bit more reasonable, then this would be a great pickup. As a dash cam, it's better to pickup another lower priced unit for the same, if not better, features and form.

So far this cell booster seems to be working as intended. I do get a noticeable increase in signal strength after installing this device. The installation of this does take some time. I was under the impression this was something you just plugged in and used however, you need to install the external antenna outside your residence and run the cables inside to the internal antenna. Installation does take some DIY knowledge so be aware of that.

Superb, top notch earbuds

WF-1000MX3 superbly top notch earbuds
I’ll start off by saying I’m quite the fan when it comes to Sony headphones. My current fav is the WH-1000MX3 headphones followed by the Jabra Elite 65t earbuds. I currently also have the WH-1000MX3 earbuds. As far as earbuds go, my overall favorite are the Jabra Elite 65t. Overall sound is great on those. The real limiting factor for the WH-1000MX3 earbuds was when making a call with them on. Sound only came out of one ear which was really annoying. The 65t worked far better in the call functionality since sound came through both earbuds. Now that these WH-1000MX3 earbuds correct this issue, these are definitely my favorite earbuds.
First thing, Sony really needs to revamp the naming conventions for the headphones. It gets a bit confusing since there are now two 1000MX3 model headphones from them. That said, these earbuds are, quite possibly, the best I’ve used so far.
As with Sony headphones, the extra bass feature is probably one of the best features they have. I’ve used other earbuds/headphones with extra bass but none come close to the sound Sony headphones put out. I listen to EDM primarily and the bass these earbuds put out is satisfying to say the least. Nice, deep bass tones without the distortion you get from other earbuds. I’m REALLY pleased with the bass these earbuds put out and it’s a testament to Sony’s rep when it comes to their extra bass feature.
Vocals on these earbuds is crisp and clear. Even with the extra bass feature, there is no muddy, garbled sound when all sounds come together. The music is crisp and vibrant as it should be. Sony really got it right with these earbuds.
The noise canceling feature on these earbuds is surprisingly good. Earbuds, in general, are all noise cancelling to some extent since you’re plugging your ear with a rubber tipped earbud. That said, as far as the noise canceling goes, they’re right on par with the larger WH-1000MX3 headphones. They block a great deal of background noise. I had these on when an ambulance drove by and it was noticeable but not loud at all. On the subway; you can barely hear anything which is great.
As I mentioned earlier, the biggest flaw they improved with these was having sound from both earbuds when making a call. The previous model was good but this one bit made them just plain irritating since I couldn’t really use those earbuds when making a call. In the event I had to take a call, I’d have to switch earbuds. BUT, these earbuds now have stereo sound when making calls which makes these earbuds pretty much perfect in my eyes.
Another slight issue I had with the WH-1000MX3 earbuds (previous gen) was the battery life. On a recent train ride I took, the earbuds died during the 3 hour trip which was quite a nuisance. These supposedly have 6+ hours so we’ll see how these hold up for long periods of use.
One thing that might be an issue for some is the size of the case for these earbuds. The previous gen case was comfortably small. The case for the Jabra Elite was a perfect size. The case for these earbuds is considerably larger which can be an issue for some people. Not so much for me since I throw the case in my backpack. For some who like to put their earbud case in their pocket or something, this case might not fit so well for them.
Overall, these a really a top notch pair of earbuds and are now my favorite earbuds. Can’t really say anything negative about these as they perform well in every category you can think of. Battery life still has to be seen but that’s not a huge concern for me at the moment. Great earbuds and probably the last ones you’ll need for awhile.

Good for quick spot cleans.

Pretty impressive little spot cleaner. If you have a pet then you probably have some stains on your carpet like I do. I have a few old stains that needed cleaning and this one did okay with them. For newer stains, this works pretty well. However I noticed for older stains, it took a couple tries to get the spot clean. Not a huge thing considering the size of this unit. For one of the larger, vacuum sized carpet cleaners this probably would've been an issue but this is fine in my opinion.
The unit is very portable so you can take it with relative ease to any of your family/friends house to let them use it. The solution seems to be okay but I'm guessing you could probably use any old carpet cleaning solution. The water tank tends to smell after a couple scrubs so just be aware of that.
For small spot jobs, I think this thing works pretty well. For some older stains though, you'll need to use some extra elbow grease.

Good quality printer. Nice ink system.

Printer is pretty good. in terms of quality and performance. Considering today's technology, printer are pretty much the same in terms of quality and performance. This multi-function printer is no different. In terms of performance, the printer, scanner, copier and fax all work as intended. I generally print office documents so I don't print out a whole lot of pictures. The pictures I have printed out turned out pretty well so no issues there.
What I do really like about this printer is the ink system. This doesn't use normal printer cartridges; it uses ink tanks which are filled with ink bottles. The printer comes with ink bottles which should last for two refills. Filling up the tanks is pretty simple and doesn't take too long; nor is it messy. I think it's a great departure from the typical ink cartridge setup. A replacement ink bottle for black/color costs around $55 for the Epson OEM cartridges so it's not super expensive which is great. A typical cartridge can cost that much for other printer manufacturers.
In the long run, the cost savings should be pretty good. I've seen some online reviews where the savings over time would be pretty good provided the printer lasts for awhile. I think that's the biggest draw for me with this printer. Provided the printer lasts for awhile, the ink shouldn't be such a huge burden like it would be with other printers. I think this is great departure from the typical cartridge setup. Print quality is good and the ink is pretty cheap.

Good, compact sound system
on June 16, 2019
Posted by: LouRevue

Previously I've been using a standard sound bar with sub and needed something a bit more substantial. The small speakers work well for a small place such as mine. Originally I had wanted a standard setup with two tower speakers and a sub but that might has been a bit too large for my place.
These smaller speakers work out better simply due to their size and having more options for spacing them out in my living room. The subwoofer is a tad bit bigger than my older one but still looks/sounds good. As far as the speakers go, the only real complaint I have is that they're wired. While the sound is a bit better, would've been a bit more convenient if they were wireless for convenience sake.
Overall, the speaker system sounds great and don't take up too much space. Sound is pretty good and this is a nice upgrade for my living room.

OK but not a great fit
on June 14, 2019
Posted by: LouRevue

Personally I'm a fan of the smaller bluetooth earphones so this one is a bit outside the norm for me. Sound wise, these are quite good and offers a decent sound from the single earpiece. Voice comes through quite nicely as well and the noise canceling mic seems to drown out enough of the background noise for clear voice. I haven't tested the battery length however it seems to hold charge for quite a bit. Plus it seems to charge quickly as well. The charger is magnetic so you just need to click it into the port.
My biggest gripe with this is the earpiece. With any/all other earbuds/earphones, the earpiece should fit snugly in your ear. This one does not and the included earpieces are almost useless. There are the usual S/M/L size rubber ear tips but they don't look/fit like normal ones. Instead of the earpiece fitting snugly in your ear, the whole headset just kind of dangles on your ear. Personally, not a great fit for this especially considering how nice it sounds. Kind of falls short in that respect so, considering other options available, this one falls flat in my opinion.

Outstanding headset

I've been using a variety of headsets over the past several years. I've used Turtle Beach, Sony, Logitech however never Astro's. Astro vs TB has always seemed to be like Coke vs Pepsi, Android vs iOS, etc. I've always been fine with TB's and they always seemed to work well. However, after using the Astro's for a bit, I can see why these are regarded as some of the best gaming headsets on the market.
I've used the TB Elite Pro 2 which are the closest competitor these A40's. Both are wired and both have an amp that is used in tandem with the wired headset.
As far as fit/comfort, I think both are equal in that respect. I like the TB's a little better just due to the material on the earcups. Both bands feel a bit tight however I have a large head so that's normal for me.
As for appearance, I think that has to go to the A40's. They look quite nice and don't look like some normal headsets out on the market.
For performance, the A40's seem to do it for me. While the TB Elite Pro 2 are quite good, the A40's seem to extend beyond the TB's just a bit in all aspects. Sound is a bit clearer/crisper on the A40 as well as range. Bass notes seem to sound a bit better on the A40 too. Mics are about equal for both headsets. Both headsets provided clear voice chat both from me and my teammates.
I'm not too big a fan of the amps however. Personally, I like the simplicity of the Sony Gold wireless headset. Seems everyone is going the wired route these days however I preferred the wireless headsets. That said, the wired headsets from TB/Astro seem to be on par with each other in most respects. However, I think the A40's are it for me.

Not bad. Definitely useful
on May 29, 2019

from Washington, DC
I'll start off by saying I never gave these Pop cases much thought. They seemed kind of gimmicky. Almost like the next fad in cases. However, after using the case for a bit, I'll admit, it's quite handy and not too shabby.
The Otterbox Symmetry case is my favorite case period. It's slim and it aesthetically pleasing. This Symmetry Pop case isn't that much thicker than the original. The Pop case is about 2-3mm thicker than the original Symmetry case. Two things that are better on this case is the rubber is a bit more grippier which is nice. Also the buttons are raised on the Pop case so it's much easier to use than on the Symmetry case.
The Pop thing is kinda useful and definitely offers a better grip over a normal Symmetry case. Using it as a stand also adds a nice benefit as well.
One issue I noticed is when you use a wireless charging pad/stand. The box states there isn't any issue with this case when using a wireless charger however, with mine, the charge doesn't always connect. I have a Belkin BOOST UP charger and it worked perfectly with the regular Symmetry case. With the Pop case, sometimes the charge will engage, sometimes it won't. Technically the wireless charger does work however the added thickness of the case does impact wireless charging for me.

Decent portable gaming laptop
on May 23, 2019
Posted by: LouRevue

With this being a gaming laptop, it should come as no surprise that it’s not going to beast of a gaming machine. The specs on this laptop are quite good, moreso than other gaming laptops. The processer, 16GB RAM and SSD all make for a very nice gaming experience.
I tested this laptop playing Destiny and…..Command & Conquer.
Needless to say the C&C worked/looked/played just fine. It was nice to see this game being played on something other than a Pentium III chip.
Destiny 2 looked nice without lag (aside from the lag in the game). Rendering was nice and the screen didn’t experience any hiccups/lag. I play PVE mostly however it may be different in PVP.
The fans on this laptop (at full power) are noticeable but not annoying.
As a laptop, this works out fine as well with the hardware on it. There is no camera FYI on this laptop.
For use as a “normal” laptop and for portable PC gaming, this is a nice choice. Lightweight, good screen and performance is also very good too.

Excellent laptop for everyday use
By LouRevue from Washington, DC
Having had the chance to use this laptop, I must say it’s quite an impressive model for almostn any use. With an abundance of features housed in a sleek, stylish body, it’s a solid laptop for anyone in the market for a new/replacement laptop.
Using a 7th gen i5 dual core processor, the laptop functions on par with just about any laptop in its price range. With 8GB of RAM (12GB max) and a 1TB hard drive, it offers plenty of speed and room for all your files and enough power/speed to perform almost any task.
As far as the aesthetics go, this is an impressive looking laptop with clean lines, brushed aluminum cover and beveled edges. It’s a very nice looking laptop no doubt and the design, overall, is quite appealing. It comes with a full size keyboard as well as backlit keys which is a nice touch. Only gripe with the keyboard are the arrow buttons as the Up/Down buttons are smaller due to keyboard layout. The power button is on the right side of the laptop which is a bit unique as well as a dedicated volume button. There are 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI, SD Card and USB-C port. There is no CD drive for anyone wondering. The laptop (closed) is only about ¾ inch tall however it’s a bit wider than most due to the full size keyboard.
Power/performance. Using a dual-core processor I was under the impression this would be relatively slow and have choppy performance when opening multiple programs. Being this is the latest gen processor from Intel, this is not the case. Opening 2-3 programs at once was done with relative ease and switching between them was pretty flawless. The 8GB RAM comes in quite handy here and even with a 5400 RPM HDD, this laptop was able to perform tasks with very good speed. Battery life is pretty good. Using it “normally” and leaving it on for about 5-6 hours, there was about 50% battery left. Also, one very noteworthy benefit to this laptop, it doesn’t get that hot when left on for long periods of time which is VERY nice.
The display is probably the most impressive feature on here. A full 1080p display is quite vibrant and displays bright and dark colors extremely well. Those wanting to watch Netflix/Hulu will have no issues with the display. In addition to visuals, the sound from this laptop is equally impressive. For watching movies or just playing music, the speakers on this laptop deliver quite nicely without too much reverberation or distorted sound.
One of my initial thoughts of this being a 2-in-1 was that the tablet was an afterthought/gimmick. Having used previous 2-in-1 laptops, I was expecting the tablet functionality to be quite lackluster. Again, this was not the case. In this unit, you have, both, a well built laptop as well as tablet on-the-go device. Once in tablet mode, the screen orients itself to that of a normal tablet using Windows Tiles. Touch sensitivity is surprisingly smooth and using paint programs worked well without any lag or drops in sensitivity. Using the tablet form works really well when you want to sit back and watch videos or movies. Very nice.
A couple concerns with this laptop were;
The hard drive. While it’s a large 1TB drive, I would’ve expected something, at least, in the 7200 RPM range. Being fast enough for normal business related tasks, anyone wanting to use this laptop for video editing or other processor intensive jobs might find it to be a bit slow. This can easily be remedied by replacing the HD for a faster spindle drive or a SSD. However it would’ve been nice to have a tad faster hard drive here.
The keyboard, for me, took a bit getting used to since I have previously used standard laptop keyboards without the number pad. This is a personal preference so nothing against the design. Just noting that those of you used to that type of laptop keyboard, there will be a bit of learning curve involved however I think the addition of the number pad is great thing and should be standard on all laptops.
While the brushed aluminum case is aesthetically appealing, I’m a little concerned about it getting scratched/dinged from normal use or if when you’re changing it to be used as a tablet. This is the case with some laptops that use this metal casing so just something to be aware of.
Overall, this is an impressive laptop, reasonably priced with enough up-to-date technology that will last you for several years to come. Being that it’s a 2-in-1, it’s an added bonus which allows you to use this device in ways you should be able to do and with relative ease. There is some bloatware included (this should be no surprise) so make sure to uninstall/delete the stuff you don’t need. Aside from a somewhat slow hard drive, the other features on this laptop more than make up for it. Very nice buy for a new work laptop or student.

Can an owner of the original non active 65t comment on the fit and stability difference with the active version? Curious if that and the extra IP rating is worth a look, or negligible.

I own both the active and regular 65T's and I don't see any noticeable difference between them. Aside from the IP rating, there's really not much difference. Both fit exactly the same and fit pretty snugly in the ear.

Brighten your day and night with this Philips Being Hue ceiling light. The dimming function lets you set an ambience for different moods, and it works with the Philips Hue dimmer switch and mobile app for versatile control. The ZigBee technology of this 32W Philips Being Hue ceiling lamp provides smooth, efficient interoperability with multiple Hue lighting units.

Can this light be controlled by a existing wired wall switch? I plan to replace the light that is already there with this one, but I would prefer to use the wired switch.

Yes you can...that's what I did. One thing to note is that the light won't come on immediately like your current light fixture does. There's a second or two delay after you flip the switch. I'm planning on replacing the switch with a dimmer switch so maybe that will correct the delay.

can i use the samsung note 2 in africa right after buying.

Only if you have the international unlocked version (the N7100 model) All other models will be tied to a carrier. You can still use those phones in Africa however you'll get hammered with roaming charges.

Does Samsung upgrade its android smartphone OS as soon as a new one is released? (4.1 Jelly Bean to the soon to be released 5.0 Key Lime Pie).

No. Samsung has its own UI built in (TouchWiz) so whenever a new OS comes out, Samsung won't release the update until they've adjusted their TouchWiz to work with the new OS. Judging from previous releases, new updates are generally released 4-6 months after a new OS has been released.
