Excellent Surround Emulation
on August 17, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
The Corsair HS80 Max is a good and comfortable headset. I was going to give it 4 stars but raised it to 5 after a firmware upgrade fixed some issues I was having. I tested it on a PC which allowed to use Dolby Atmos. Make sure you upgrade the firmware for the receiver and headset first thing. In the box is the headset and a receiver specifically for it. The manual can be found be scanning a QR link in the package which takes you to the Corsair webpage for it. On the left ear are the microphone, volume, and power/connection type button. On the right ear is a Bluetooth button (BT). The headset isn't to heavy, and is comfortable. The ear-cups have a good amount of cushion on them and can be worn for a while without discomfort. The headset is plastic and has a rechargable battery rated for 24-130 hours depending on the connection type and if the RGB lights are used. For lights, the corsair light emblem is on both sides and the microphone has a light to indicate status.
Out of the box you can connect the headset with the included receiver, or connect via BT. The receiver is plug and play, while BT is a standard search and connect. The receiver blinks red when disconnected and stays a solid white when connected to the headset. Once connected voice prompts will give changes in status. The mic has a flexible boom and will stay in position once you bend it to the desired shape. When the mic is down its light is blue, and when you move it up, it changes to red and automatically mutes the mic. Pressing the power button quickly will switch the headset connection from the receiver to BT. In either mode you have access to all the features of the headset. I loaded the Corsair iCue which gives you more control over the headset, lights, microphone boost etc, and is an easy way to upgrade the firmware on both devices. When upgrading the headset is supposed to be connected directly to the computer, no dongle/hub. I could not get the upgrade to work with a dongle/hub as stated. The included charging cable for the headset is a USB-A to USB-C cable. My computer only had USB-C ports. I used a USB-C to USB-C cable and had no problems upgrading the headset.
The sound for the headset falls into two categories. For music it was good. Music sounded decent and was pleasant to listen too, nothing really stood out about it, but all genres of music sounded good. But, it’s for games and it really stepped up in them. Using the Dolby PC app, the surround sound from Atmos was quite nice. In Atmos surround demos you can hear the sound circle your head and come from different directions including height. The presence of the channels is represented well. This translated well into various games. I can play without disturbing others since my speakers are off. I didn’t have any problems with the mic, on Discord and other apps my voice came through fine once I set it up properly in the programs. Just shift up the boom to mute. For games the sound is wonderful and for music it’s average, but good enough to listen too between games. I’d say the receiver seems to have better emphasis than when it uses the receiver compared to BT mode, but not by much.
Overall, the HS80 Max is a good headset. The sound is great in games and emulates surround sound well. It’s not heavy and comfortable. A solid headset whether using BT or the included receiver. I walked around out of my room and for a good 20-30 ft had no issues with the sound or mic. Just make sure you upgrade the firmware when you get it.

Another great Robosen Transformer
on July 18, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
Now it's time for BumbleBee to walk out. Like the Optimus prime Robosen G1, this is fully capable walking and moving robot. It comes in nice packaging giving it a great presentation when unboxing. There isn’t much to set up. Just BumbleBee and a gun accessory. Over the Optimus Prime ,the charging cable a universal USB-C cable now. Just charge him up and your ready to go. BumbleBee does everything but transform. The feet compared to the height are better and it’s more stable than Optimus Prime. Besides voice commands it also has a phone/tablet controller. It has it’s own app separate from other Robosen products. The BumbleBee App can also control Optimus Prime in a joint preprogrammed mode. Just connected both robots through Bluetooth and you’re set for dual action. The unit looks nice and reflects the G1 BumbleeBee yellow Bug.
BumbleBeee is smaller and doesn’t transform, so, the feet are larger compared to the height. This gives it better stability and control. You can change the walking pace, and it can get up after falling down quite well. Make sure the gun isn’t in its hand, and it got up every single time, it may take more than one try. It turns better in walking mode and can kicks better compared to the Optimus Prime unit. BumbleBee can be used through the app or through voice commands. “Hey BumbleBee” preps the unit for voice commands. From walking to speaking, or posing, the unit had no problems executing whether in voice or remote-control mode. Same as the Optimus Prime unit, you get a remote on the app, and access to various moves. You can also download new moves to do. You can use preprogrammed sequences or make them yourself. The BumbleBee app can also control the Optimus Prime unit at the same time only for scenes together. Together they reenact scenes from the series. The sync was good between them, the only issue for me was figuring out how to place them so the movements looked good together. The scenes were just under two minutes each. The headlights in the feet and the eyes light up.
BumbleBee is as fun as Optimus Prime. You give up transforming, but you have more stable robot that can do more in robot mode. The scenes with the two units together is entertaining. The voice commands and remote all worked seamlessly and make using BumbleBee easy. Robosen keeps making a great product.

Panoramic 3D surround sound without limits. Experience movies, music and games with sound that puts you right in the middle of theaction, thanks to 880W of total output power and thunderous bass from the 10” subwoofer. The JBL Bar 1000 has MultiBeam and four up-firing drivers—two in the bar and two in the detachable battery-powered surround speakers—to envelop you in a sphere of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 3D surround sound with a wide, spacious soundstage with no need to draw extra cables. You’ll never miss a word with our PureVoice technology, which makes sure the dialogue is clear even when other sounds are at their loudest. When you’re ready for some music, stream your favorite playlist from AirPlay, Alexa Multi-Room Music (MRM), and Chromecast built-in and it’ll feel like the band is right there. Have a great night out without leaving your living room.

Another solid JBL soundbar
on July 9, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
The JBL Bar1000 is a great truly wireless Soundbar option for enveloping surround sound. I have the previous version, the 9.1 Soundbar and there are some improvements, but nothing monumental. The Bar1000 is a solid soundbar with plenty of features and options to make an easy home theater. There are 4 major parts to the soundbar, the wireless subwoofer, main soundbar, and 2 detachable speakers. The units are the same size as the previous 9.1 sound bar. The surround speakers are held to the soundbar magnetically and can be used there or detached to place anywhere in your room. Unlike the previous model, everything you need to mount the detachable speakers and sound bar are included, end caps, screws, drywall mounts. The only item not included for mounting are screws for mounting the soundbar holders. Although some 9.1 sounds bars came with the mounting hardware, mine did not. The endcaps hide the connections and make everything look nicer on the surround speakers and soundbar. The surround speakers have been upgraded to USB-C connections for charging. Having all of this to be ready to mount is a plus over the previous version. There is a new app for a phone or tablet that lets you fully control and connect the soundbar to various internet media, a plus over the previous version’s app. The system is now rated at 880w compared the 820w of the previous version.
The units come in a soundbar L shaped box. Lie it on its side, open the now top side and start removing the Styrofoam. It’s easy to remove the pieces, you’ll need a knife or scissors for a few straps and tape removal. A quick start guide gets you setup. Plug in the soundbar and then the other speakers and subwoofer. Let the surround speakers charge for at least 3.5 hours. All the units should connect to each other by default, if not you can manually connect them again. The unit has eARC, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It has added 2 more HDMI ports for a total of 3 in from the previous version making it more versatile. Connect your HDMI and power cables and you’re ready to go. The remote got slimmer and feels nice in your hand. There are also more options on it than before. The JBL One app recognized and immediately linked with the sound bar. With the app you can connect the soundbar to music services, home controllers etc. The major services were all there. For setup there is a built-in calibration that has two parts. Make sure you do both. First, set the surround speakers next to were you will be seated for listening. Select calibrate and wait for the tones to finish. Then put the speakers in the position they will reside and finish with the 2nd calibration. After it’s done the setup is complete. I found the calibration did a good job. All I did was raise the volume of the surround speakers and everything sounded great.
The 3D effect can be put in a low, mid, or high to better project where the sound effects come from. The surround speaker volume can be set to low, med, high, or mute for sound. Great depending on the time of day to make things quieter. Through the app is an easy way to set an equalizer with bass, mid, and treble options. There is a full remote on the app, and a way to see all of the settings and make your 3rd party service connections. I connected my soundbar by the Ethernet port. Once connected, the soundbar reached out and downloaded the latest firmware. You can check the version through the app. You can also check your wi-fi connection and information in the app. Streaming can be done directly through the app. I had no issues setting up music streaming. You can also register the product and access all of the manuals through the app. The full user manual is available online.
The soundbar sounds great, like its predecessor. The bass is more than adequate for the setup and the surround speakers fully immerse you. The 3D effects are good for height using Dolby Atmos, or DTS:X. The unit can handle what you through at is and sound good. Compared to the previous version it’s not much better, but has more options. Advantages are the PureVoice can really let voice come through above any background noise. The calibration setup is better for setting and just enjoying. The unit can get plenty loud if you want too. Although the system sounds okay with the surrounds attached, you need to move them around the room to really take advantage of them. With built in batteries, they can be placed or mounted anywhere. A USB-C connection can keep them always powered. With out a power connection they can last up to 12 hours before needing a recharge. Places them on a desk, mount them to a wall, and the 3D and surround sound becomes much better. They are designed to be mobile with no wires needed. With the soundbar and surrounds all having up firing speakers in them, the sensation of height in the sound is noticeable.
Overall, this is a good soundbar for a small to medium sized room. It has all the features for full 3D sound and streaming connections. Compared to the previous version sound wise the updates aren’t huge. You might be better off going to the next higher version, 1300X if you want more power. If you want more modern features such as stream and home connections, the Bar1000 will for fill you needs. If you are just getting a soundbar the Bar1000 is an excellent choice.

Flexible Surge Protector and USB charger
on June 19, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
This SPA 360 surge protector works well and saves some space, and charging devices by having its own USB ports. It has 4 sockets, and 4 USB-A ports, is ~2 ¼” high and ~13 1/4” long without the cord and rated for 1080 joules. There is ~1 7/8” between the center of each socket. It has an on/off switch and once on, a blue and green LED light softly glows. You get 24 watts total on the USB ports. It’s white with black around the sockets on the top. It's easy to open the box, just open up the top, make sure to remove any tape from the bottom and the package slides out. Open it up and take out the device. The only part to engage on the device is the on/off switch.
The sockets are easy to turn. Once a plug is in, turn in either direction, and you’ll hear a series of clicks as the socket rotates. This is great for large and oversized plugs since you can put them on opposite sides of each other or at angles. With a built in USB charger, I was able to plug in my Fire TV stick and earphone cases directly into the surge protector. This allowed me to get rid of other power blocks for some devices and a separate USB charger saving countertop space.
If 4 sockets, and 4 USB ports meet your needs or can save you some USB power chargers, this surge protector should wok for you.

Good for work and play
on June 17, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
This Dell XPS 15, 9350, is great for work and gaming. The overall form factor is small and lightweight. It looks like any other Dell laptop, but packs a good punch. It has an Intel 13th Gen i7-13000H CPU, NVidia RTX4050, 1 TB M.2, and 16GB of RAM. The screen is sharp and 1920x1200, which looks nice on a 15.6" screen. Large enough to see what you're doing. It has a plastic shell, and has 3x USB-C ports on the body along with a 3.5mm audio jack, and full SD card reader. It has Wi-Fi 6, ax, and Bluetooth. All of the latest versions of the major components.
The initial opening brings the computer up to you and is easy to take out from the outer box. From there, it’s takeout the laptop and charge it up. The laptop only has USB-C ports. It states any can be used for charging. It comes with a USB-C to HDMI/USB-A adapter. You can run more monitors by USB-C or HDMI, the CPU onboard Intel Iris Xe GPU can run these. I had no issues with the Intel GPU working on monitors through HDMI or USB-C connections. For web surfing and Office the laptop runs through everything easily. The CPU is quick, and the laptop is responsive. The only bloatware was some McAffee programs, but they are easy to remove through add and remove programs in Windows settings. I plugged in a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and had full download speeds. The ethernet was at 112-115MB/s and the AX averaged 85-90MB/s on the same file download. Great for a wireless connection if available, or it connects at the fastest protocol available. The M.2 is fast and getting a 1TB module included leaves lots of room for programs and files. You can also add another one. Movies and streams render fine on the screen. The speakers are really good for a laptop. They are on the side of the keyboard and are good at stereo sound. The camera and microphone do a solid job for audio or video conferencing. The keyboard is a full sized TKL. Spacing and backlighting are good. Due to the limited amount of ports I connected mice and keyboard by BT and everything worked fine.
For gaming, I played on the main screen in full screen to fully take advantage of the discrete 4050 GPU, and could setup a second screen for Discord or other secondary tasks. Make sure to set the Discrete 4050 GPU as the default video card. One of the manuals said secondary screens use the CPU GPU. I found that in windowed mode the games still used the 4050 discrete GPU even on a secondary screen whether USB-C or HDMI connected. But in full screen they come back to the laptop screen. The 4050 GPU does well with games. Use the determined default settings and getting a smooth 60 FPS is not an issue. It did not benchmark as well as dedicated gaming laptop, but the 4050 does fine at the monitor’s resolution. One advantage this laptop has over a more powerful gaming laptop is it only needs a USB-C adapter. It needs 130w, but even without a full 130w, you can charge it. Not having to lug around a huge and heavy power brick with a proprietary barrel connector to charge greatly adds to the portability of the laptop. It also does not get as loud or hot as a dedicated gaming laptop. It never got so hot I had to take my hands off the keyboard.
Upgrading the laptop is easy. Just flip the laptop over and unscrew 8 screws, you’ll need a T5H bit, and starting on the middle of the sides use a plastic tool to get the shell off the base. Once you work your way around, the shell pops off. Inside is simple, two DDR5 slots and two M.2 slots. Both memory slots and one M.2 slot will be occupied. I removed the default 2x8GB modules and put in 2x16GB modules, and added another 1TB M.2. You’ll want 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM DDR5 4800 (PC4 38400) Laptop Memory if you want to upgrade. The M.2 slot is a size 2280 and does not come with a screw to secure the 2nd M.2, you’ll need your own. The paper over the Memory modules is a map of the component locations and can be slipped on and off the memory. Upgrading to Win11 Pro is as simple as getting the upgrade through the Microsoft store or buying it elsewhere. After changing the hardware, a reboot and the laptop was ready to go.
Overall, this laptop blends in gaming and working in a small package. With only needing a standard USB-C connection for power, it’s easy to take with you for whatever you want to do. The screen is a good size, and the 4050 GPU does a great job. You will need an adapter for HDMI, but one is included and very small, so it’s easy to carry around with you. At $2K it is a more expensive laptop, but you get a lot for it, and you can expand the memory and storage. It’s compact and the battery life is pretty standard, up to a few hours, depending on what you are doing. Work or play, this laptop has you covered.

Solid multi function lens
on May 22, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
This lens has great flexibility and comes through in multiple situations. I am using it on a Sony Alpha 6000 camera, body ILCE-6000. The camera came with a 16-55mm lens and a 55-210mm telephoto lens. This F4 20-70mm lens strikes a good balance between the two. Its range covers a good deal of the other two lens and does it very well. It also comes with a lens hood and carrying case.
The F4 lens is thicker than the other two lens, and it fits great in your hands. It is the heaviest of the three lenses. Big, but the extra girth makes it easier to handle. Putting it on the camera is as easy as any other lens. Just put it on and rotate until it clicks into place. The camera recognized it with no issues. The buttons and dials on the lens are easy find and manipulate. Everything feels in place like the other Sony lens. At the same 20mm the F4 has a wider field of view than the 16-50mm lens, and this holds throughout the travel range of the lenses. The F4 is an Ultrawide lens. Against the 55-210mm lens the field of vision is wider for the same settings. The F4 lens does seem pepperier then the others and auto focus is faster. All the pictures came out excellent. Everything was in focus, there were no flaws in the photos for what I was doing. The dials for focus and zoom operated smoothly. The F-stop ring was easy to operate and let you know with each detent you had moved over to the next setting.
If I could only take one lens for pictures/videos, this would be the one lens I would take as it has a good range, wider field of vision and takes great pictures. Less to carry around in the camera bag or just lug with you on the go. Unless I really need to go to 210mm, this lens is good at a variety of shots. Taking it will have you covered for a variety of shots without having to changes lenses. I used it for pictures and video only. Videos also came out GREAT. This one lens can cover a board range of your photo/video needs.

Good basic laptop
on May 20, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
This Asus is no thrills laptop with Windows 11 Home S installed. Home S means the laptop is limited to only installing items from the Microsoft store and other restrictive measures. This can be useful for people that aren't careful by default on the internet, or just added protection for yourself. You can remove the S setting if wanted. To surf the web, do basic office work, and play some less hardware required games, this laptop and the S mode do fine. You cannot upgrade to Windows 11 Pro if wanted without removing S mode. Besides the Asus programs for monitoring your computer there was no other bloatware on the machine. The Asus programs don’t interfere much with your experience.
The device is not a thin laptop, so it has some weight, but not heavy overall. By default, it only comes with a 128GB M.2 and no room to add another M.2. There is space for a standard SSD, but no connections were put in, so you can’t add one. Wireless is AC, not the fastest, but available is more places, and good enough for just web browser and basic needs. 8GB RAM is also enough for web surfing and office work. The i3 does fine for the workloads this is meant for. Hooking up a second monitor, and Bluetooth devices went without a hitch. Whether using ethernet through a dongle or the built in wireless, website came up fast, and office and PDF’s could be used with no issues or lag. The camera and microphone are good for meetings and other online virtual meetings. Sound was clear and the video was good. The screen is sharp and displays well. You get one USB-C, one HDMI, three USB-A, and one 3.5mm audio jack. In the manual is only lists using the included power adapter with barrel plug to charge the device. I could not get any USB-C charger to work from 45w to 90w. The included charger is only 45 watts. You are limited to only this one-barrel charger instead of USB-C charging devices.
After seeing what could be done in S mode, I removed it and upgraded to Pro. The laptop worked well and installed all of the programs I wanted not in the Microsoft store. If you have people who somehow keep getting virus or other problems getting on their computers S mode might be a good idea for them. The Microsoft store has enough programs to take of anything you want. Edge is a decent browser and can get you around the internet fine. Overall the laptop does what it is designed to do at a good point price. A full laptop vs a chrome book always gives you more options. You are limited in the hardware but you can always save items online if space is an issue. It’s an all plastic build, but is solid and doesn’t get too hot under loud. Fan noise isn’t too loud. For the price it is a good deal, just make sure you realize the limitations of what you are getting.

Great, versatile, and quiet
on May 17, 2023
Posted by: grimmace
This Logitech MX Keys S combo package is a MX Master 3S mouse and MX Keys keyboard. They are both cordless and connect to a through a small USB dongle, or by Bluetooth (BT). The dongle is the newer Logi Bolt receiver. Both can be linked to 3 different computers by BT. Or, just move the dongle as needed and your good to go with plug and play. I tried BT and the dongle on several computers with and without the Logitech Options + software and had no issues with either device working. As these are full size items, they aren’t light, but aren’t meant to be, they are full sized devices.
In the box, you get the two devices and the charging cable. Both use USB-C for charging. Depending on what is activated, the devices can last from days to months. Both have built in batteries. The mouse is great for larger hands. The top scroll wheel can change from click to smooth with the touch of the button just behind it. In addition to the scroll wheel and 2 buttons there is a thumb scroll (volume by default) and a forward and back button just below it The Master 3S feels good in your hands and glides easily. Response is good and never had any tracking issues. It has up to 8000 DPI. There is just a small green led light for status on the mouse. It tracked on desktops and mousepads with no issues.
The Keyboard is pretty silent and has a good feel. Compared to the mechanical version it’s more quiet, and the layout is a little different. Comfortable for typing for long sessions. Presses are solid, you know when the key is registering. The keys are more recessed, and the keyboard has single tilt angle. The keys are responsive. The backlighting is good and can be adjusted in the Options + software. As your hands approach the keyboard, the lights will come on and brighten. Stop typing and they will fade away. Lighting makes seeing the keys easy. It’s not to bright is great in low light or dark settings. The top row of keys are functions or double for media controls and other functions. The wrist rest is comfortable and feels like gel under your wrists. It can slightly change your typing angle and is comfortable. Being a full sized keyboard, spacing is nice and having a number pad is always a plus for entering in digits fast.
The Options + software lets you customize the devices as you see fit. All of the buttons can be changed, macros assigned, different settings depending on the program you are using, and changing the lighting. It’s versatile and keeps getting better. Make sure you update to the latest version when using this set. You can log in and setup an account to cut and paste between computers with the mouse and keyboard. Overall, this is another great Mouse and Keyboard combo. Whether for business, internet surfing, or gaming, you can customize them to meet your needs without worry of running out of battery. A good option for quiet responsive backlit typing. Devices worked just as well in BT as with the dongle.

Solid backup UPS

This APC is for mid to small computers or other IT devices. It has the standard APC LCD screen and three buttons to control the functions and display of the device. It's not to large or heavy. It has 8 plugs total, 4 connected to the battery backup and 4 that are just surge protectors. There is also a data port on the back for connecting the UPS to your computer/NAS/Router etc. A wiring fault indicator light and circuit break reset round out the functions on the back of the unit. To have battery work, you turn over the unit, slide the battery cover door off and connect the positive wire, red, to the positive plug on the battery. A battery usually lasts 3-5 years in the ones I have owned. Then you can decide if it's worth buying another battery or a whole new unit depending on price. With the battery connected and then the unit plugged into a wall socket your UPS is ready to work.
The screen will allow you to cycle through input voltage, load, time remaining, etc. Connecting the UPS to a computer gives you full control over the device. Load the APC power chute software on a PC, power it from the battery side of the UPS and you have all the information on you screen. You can see voltage, loads, time remaining etc. You can easily set when the UPS should shutdown, time remaining or time from loss of power. It will monitor when power outages occur, under/over voltage, and electrical noise. If you put in your power cost, it will estimate the cost of running the devices it backs up. Time remaining on the UPS and watts used per day are also shown. The UPS condition, and self-testing are all easily done from the software. You can set the alarm, voltage parameters, and notifications. Powerchute works well to setup and monitor the UPS. You don't have to use the front of the device at all. You can access the most of the functions through the buttons on the device. You can put it in any location and still monitor what it's doing through the serial to USB cable.
I used this UPS to backup my ONT, modem, and few other devices I'd want to keep going for a bit if the power goes out. For a small load I have over an hour of run time. UPS's aren't just for a computers. My IO Safe/Synology NAS also saw the UPS with no issues. APC has built another solid UPS, easy to setup and protect your gear until a power shutdown, or keep your gear going for a bit longer. For short power outages, you'll never realize one hit for the devices connected to it.

This G1 Optimus Prime is fantastic

This robot is a marvel for what it does. Looks like Optimus Prime from the Transformers and has all of the sounds you would expect. Even opening the box up is a feel-good experience. The specs talk about the servos and motors needed for it to work, and they work in a flawless way. There are only a few parts to assemble, adding the mufflers and for certain actions you can add a gun or battle axe. Besides that, it is all put together. Charging is done via barrel charger, so make sure you don’t use it.
With no connections to anything, once charged and turned on, the unit is ready to work, which makes it easy to use. The prep words are “Ok Optimus Prime” the unit responds and then does the command you say, 40 of them. No phones or tablets needed. It worked fine with male, female, and child voices. Never missed a command, it got them all right. With just voice commands you can move, transform, and command the unit threw many functions. If you get the app, I used the one from the Android store, it opens up a remote control and advanced functions. With the remote you can steer, walk, and transform from one screen. You can also video record through the app. The app opens up the unit for programming and making your own sequences. Connecting to the app was simple, just make sure the Bluetooth is on and the app finds and connects without needing any manual steps.
My biggest worry was it being a one trick pony to get bored of quickly. But, with the app or voice commands it will do a lot and keep you engaged or entertained for a while. There are missions through the app to give you something to do. At 16” tall it’s a little smaller than the original unit they made, but it seems to be just as functional. The only issues I’ve had are on a small pile shag carpet it would slip sometimes and fall over. Not often, but be careful of the surfaces you use it on. Falling over didn’t seem to harm the unit at all. Also, the transformation occurs with Optimus facing the rear of the unit not the front, so make sure you know where you want the robot mode to be headed before transforming. When off the unit does not keep its form and will ragdoll, so turning off in truck mode is best.
Overall, the Robosen Optimus Prime Elite is amazing. It does a lot and besides nostalgia is a fully function robot that can be entertaining for yourself and others. Be careful with it as it’s expensive, but adults and children will love to use it.

Just average router for now
By grimmace from MD
This is a high end router from Linksys. Hooking it up was easy, and starting it was not a problem.
Positives-
8 ports – lots of ports to plug directly into the router.
Interface and setup are easy
Dual band worked fine
Multiple VPN ports can be designated
Neutral-
The have icons to attach to your network devices. They have the Wemo series of products and some other generic icons, but not much else if it matters to people.
Negative-
No aggregate ports
No bandwidth monitor (couldn’t find it in the regular Linksys screen location or any other pages)
Have to use an app to connect with mobile devices
Keeps trying to get you sign up for Linksys smart-fi
Requires adobe flash for the speed test. Flash is going away.
Wireless range was not as great as other similar range routers.
All of the comments are from the original firmware shipped with the router. The issue is, for a top end router with the matching price, it needs to have features others in the range do. Firmware upgrades should be able to fix many of these issues I think, but they should be there from the start. So, average overall since it has room to improve and should.

Range update.
June 8, 2016
I did play with the position of the antennas, The link you provided has very basic information. I tried the antennas at all angles, mostly 45 and 90. The range was still not as great as other routers in this price range.

Unleash the power of the Samsung 980 PRO with Heatsink for next-level computing. With a PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ interface, get up to 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe® 3.0¹ while remaining compatible with PCIe® 3.0. ¹Results are based on a comparison with Samsung PCIe® 3.0 NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs.

Anyone know if the heatsink is easily removable in case I want to use it in a gaming laptop? I am not sure this will fit my laptop 2nd bay, Asus ROG m16 SSD slot. Thanks!

I tried to get it off. It has 5 small screws. I tried all of my small head. Philips, star, hex, etc, I couldn't anything that fit right to remove the screws. It's a big heat sink. If on a MB or laptop that has a heat sink built in to a cover it's not going to fit. If it doesn't have a heatsink cover built in it might fit, but measure or something first. It's a really big heat sink.

On the 2nd M.2 slot (for expansion), how do I access it? Where is it? Where is the schematic of the laptop? What type of driver do I need for the screws? Please confirm the primary M.2 contains the operating system and is rated at Gen 4 speeds.

Yo have to remove the motherboard and flip it over. The memory and 2nd M.2 slot are there. The M.2 slot has a screw in it already. Cover screws are hex and internal Philips. I found no schematics. The M.2 that comes with it is a OEM Samsung and has the OS on it. I added the 2nd M.2 and upped the memory to 32GB. See a better explanation on the process in the review I did for it.

I currently stream directly from my LG OLED. Is it possible to do this and still have the audio synced? If not how do I accomplish this without another box of some sorts?

From the manual.
Audio sync
With the audio sync function, you can synchronize audio and
video to make sure that no delay is heard from your video content.
1. On the remote control, press and hold for more than three
seconds and then, press +.
2. Within five seconds, press + or - on the remote control to
adjust the audio delay and match with video.
→ The audio sync timing is displayed.
NOTES:
− If no action is taken within five seconds, you will exit the audio sync
mode.

I connected jbl 9.1 soundbar with my tv through hdmi arc and playing atoms content through Netflix but on soundbar it’s showing Dolby surround not atoms. How to get atoms ??

Your TV has to have an eARC HDMI port for Atmos or DTS:X formats to be passed. So, an HDMI 2.1 port. Without that you won't get Atmos from a TV. If you have a steaming device you can connect to the HDMI port on the soundbar, you'll get Atmos through it.

None of your microwaves show a wattage. How are we supposed to know?

On the microwave page under specifications and electrical specifications, it says 700 watts and has a power consumption of 1100 watts.. Same as most .7 cu ft microwaves.

Does the Sony 1000XM3 InEar have it's own volume control? I need to amplify my listening, while my wife listens to the normal TV volume. I have a pair of the Sony 1000XM# over the Ear Head Phones and of course they DO have volume control. Thanks.

No. Volume is controlled by the device outputting sound. There is no volume control on the earbuds.
