Who says you need a big box for big bass? The Bose Bass Module 500 will take your music, movies, and more to the next level. Its rich, thunderous bass in a compact, 10-inch cube makes it easy to hide and even easier to hear. Wireless connectivity allows you to place the Bose Bass Module 500 nearly anywhere. Leave it next to the TV or put it under your entertainment center - the choice is yours.

It's OK But Could Be Better

Decent unit, but could be a little better
Please note, all of this review is the Bose Bass Module 500 matched with the Bose Sounbar 500.
The Good:
+Music sound is very good. Warm bass that is there but not overwhelming.
+Overall quality is good.
+Aesthetically pleasing.
Th "Mmehh"
=TV and movie listening, the sounds are good but not quite as rich and full as I am used to. Was hoping for a little more from Bose legacy reputation..
The kinda' bummers:
-As mentioned, the sound for music is great, but it does not seem to carry the ground-shaking thunder of other soundbar and bass-modules I have experienced.
In all, its an OK unit, especially if music is your deal, and it's utilitarian and does its job adequately well.
I would recommend it, but with defined caveats for the movie lovers.

The stylish Bose Soundbar 500 speaker is meant to be heard, not seen. Its thin profile fits discreetly under the TV screen, while its powerful acoustics fill the room with sound. And with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in, all your favorite music is just an ask away, or use it as a central hub to control your existing smart home devices.

I Mean... It's OK, But Not Outstanding
on November 3, 2018

Title pretty much sum's it up. I mean, it's OK but not what I was expecting.
Please note, all of this review is the Bose Sounbar 500 matched with the Bose Bass Module 500. Any mentione of bass will include that Bass Module and may not be reflective of Soundbar 500 as a stand-alone.
The Good:
+Music sound is very good. Rich, accurate mids and highs and warm bass that is there but not overwhelming.
+Overall quality is good.
+Aesthetically pleasing.
+The technology is there with Bluetooth, WiFi streaming, Alexa (this is my first experience with Alexa so still learning that platform).
+The microphones are very good, even at loud volume at listening for Alexa commands.
+Tech support was quite good (see later in review, but the fact that I had to contact tech support was a bummer).
Th "Mmehh"
=TV and movie listening, the sounds are good but not quite as rich and full as I am used to. Was hoping for a little more from Bose legacy reputation.
=TV and movie sound is not quite as "real" as I would expect. Don't get me wrong, its not bad per se, but it's not quite "there". I know, saying "real" and "there" are subjective and beyond reasonable measure, but I hope you can understand my intent.
=The remote is simple, elegant and functional but the light grey offset in button identifiers is not necessarily conducive with watching movie in a dark room and easily being able to identify what buttons are where.
=The exercise to calibrate the ADAPtiQ felt a little gimmicky.
=Alexa replies are LOUD. They are out of sync with the fluctuating volume of the speaker. I wish the Alexa reply volumes were either in step with the soundbar volume or were adjustable.
The kinda' bummers:
-Set-up required a call to Bose tech support because the unit was not broadcasting a beacon for the App to see it. (as previously mentioned and worth noting again, the wait, knowledge and professionalism of the tech support was quite good).
-The time-out to shut off power strikes me as pretty short. I paused Live PD for around 20 minutes to write this review and the unit went into sleep mode. Seems kinda' short.
-As mentioned, the sound for music is great, but it does not seem to carry the ground-shaking thunder of other soundbar and bass-modules I have experienced.
In all, its a decent unit, especially if music is your deal, and it's utilitarian and does its job adequately well.
I would recommend it, but with defined caveats.

The Streamlabs water monitor gives you the peace of mind that your home is protected from water damage. It attaches easily to your existing plumbing, with no pipe cutting required, and uses ultrasonic technology to measure and detect changes in the flow of the water in your pipes. It's Wi-Fi enabled, so you can check on your home anytime, anywhere using the smartphone app. And real-time leak alerts will notify you if you need to take action. Interesting Little Gadget

Truth be told, I got this really more out of curiosity than anything, but I gotta' admit, its not only pretty cool but also could prove to be a valuable tool.
Set-up was pretty straight forward and simple. One minor hiccup required to reset to unit and start over again, but that's no biggie.
Installation was simple save the exception of moving 20 Christmas boxes to get to water pipe, but other than that, install took just a couple minutes.
Calibration was pretty straight forward and not too time-consuming, but certainly an important step to get right.
To be honest, I have not dug down too deeply into the capability of the ap, but on the surface, it has tons of options for tracking.
I kind of wish I would have gotten this a couple months ago so I can really take a deep-dive into my lawn irrigation system to see if I may be having some leakage there.
In all, nifty little unit and if you have interest in this, go for it. I think you'll like it.

My First Foray In 4K
on October 20, 2018
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
OK, as mentioned, this is my first experience with a 4K TV.
On first receiving unit, it was right around 60 pounds but packaging had handles so it was easy for one guy to handle. The packaging was TIGHT which is a good thing, but it definitely required 2 people to get out of package.
The TV is very slim with a manageable bulge towards the lower portion where the guts and brains reside. I am impressed with the overall look, feel and texture. I was not sure what I was going to get with an entry level product but I was pleasantly surprised. The bezel on the front was also quite thin. In all, I am impressed.
Set-up was easy. Lay TV flat, insert both feet, screw down 3 screws per foot, plug in, insert batteries in remote and your off.
Initial software setup was quick and easy. Less than 5 minutes and I was watching Ozark in 4K on Netflix. The interface was clean and intuitive, although setting up the Google account could have been easier to find, but no biggie.
The remote is simple, efficient and effective. Nothing to brag about bit certainly capable.
After reading other reviews, I am glad I got the version that had the Android TV interface instead of the previous interface Hisense used. We are a Google/Android house so it fits nicely into our current systems. Having Google Assistant on the remote is a nice feature that the kids think is pretty cool.
The sound was honestly fairly impressive for a flat panel TV, but lets be honest, almost all users will probably have it tied into a soundbar or home theater system, but I felt it was important to note. They did a good job with the Harman / Kardon sound.
What do you buy a 4k UHD TV ultimately for? The picture, of course. To that end, the picture is really quite nice. I am not going to get into what some other reviewers probably will comparing "depths of black" and how the DLR compares to others because to be honest, since this is my first experience, I honestly don't know. I will close this subject as I opened it in saying the picture is really pretty nice.
End of the day, it's a good TV, especially for the entry-minded and/or fiscally conservative buyer.

Very Nice Monitor If You Don't Need 4K
on October 9, 2018
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
First impressions: As I met the Fed Ex driver at the gate, he handed me the box and the box had a nice handle cut into it. Not a biggie because the package was only 13 pounds, but it was nice to be able to get the mail in one hand and easily carry the monitor up to the house.
Once inside, the box was easy to un-package. One quick swipe with my trusted picket knife knife through the tape and it opened up like a brief case. Clever.
Inside you'll find the base, the stand arm, the power cables, the ubiquitous quick-start/warning/warranty info, and of course, the monitor. One nice inclusion was a 6' HDMI cable. I have units in the past that did not include that so it's nice to have. Saved me from fumbling around my cable drawer to hook it up.
Assembly was a snap. Place the arm on the base, the base has a nice screw that can easily be hand-tightened. Again, no biggie if I would have had to grab a Phillips or standard head screw drive from my pocket multi-tool or tool box, but nice to not have to. Next step, place the monitor on the vertical arm, pop it in nice and snug and you are off to the races. Apply power, put HDMI connector in, power on, a couple quick items to easily enter using the easy accessible but attractively hidden operation buttons and you're good to go.
Overall quality is what I have come to expect (and never disappointed in) from Dell. Very nice affordable consumer grade equipment. The picture is very good for a non-4K unit. The bezel is very thin. Overall, a very nice monitor.
The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5, and it is a minor one, is that while there are 2 HDMI inputs, there are no older legacy option if you have an older PC or video unit. No biggie, but just a note if you need to look at HDMI adapter options.
I have it hooked up to my Samsung 8 channel security system. It sets nicely on the stand where I can easily glance and see what is happening on any and all cameras. If I see anything interesting, I can zoom to that camera and I have nice crisp, clean, accurate and detailed view. This is a defined and measurable upgrade from my previous 1280 x 720 21" monitor. The difference is immediate and appreciated.
In all, I would most assuredly recommend to a friend. Nice monitor and it meets my needs well.
Please note: The included pictures are NOT intended to provide any information beyond overall look. The pictures the monitor are displaying are live pictures from non-lighted home video camera's taken in the dark. In other environments, the monitor displays color and live motion very well.

Surprisingly Unique and Useful
on September 22, 2018
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
On arrival, the box was bigger than expected. I opened the outside brown box and found a nicely padded factory box. After opening the factory box, it was pretty straight forward. It had the oven itself, the drip tray and the cooking and crisper trays. After pulling the oven out, it was larger than I was expecting. I checked the dimensions prior and knew it would be a Hoss, but it was BIG. Please note, you'll need some counter real estate to place this Bad Boy.
Set up was expectedly easy. Insert drip tray at front base, insert the baking tray and crisping tray and that's about it. I read the instructions and it was suggested to run a "Clean" cycle before first use. No problem. After running that we were good to go.
Our first test was pretty dang simple. Toast! We placed a couple pieces of whole wheat bread, rotated the dial to the "Toast" position, chose our preferred level between 1-7 (we chose 4) and pressed "Select" and then "Start" and it immediately started. Approximately 5 minutes later we had 2 surprisingly moist but crisp pieces of toast. The taste was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality. I know that 5 minutes seems like a bit long for toast, but on a matter of scale, our regular toaster can do a maximum of 2 pieces in 2.5 minutes where as this unit can do 6 to 9 pieces (depending on size and shape of bread) in just a little over 5 minutes. The same 9 pieces in our regular toaster would have taken more than 12 minutes so this unit could be a real time saver and offer a superior product.
Our next test? The classic frozen waffle. Again, using the toast mode, we did 3 pieces in the same 5 minutes and the end product was great. The waffles were really moist yet crispy and they had a great texture. Very impressed.
Third test was an interesting experience. We purchased 2 thin crust frozen pizzas. My son did the first one per the box instruction. Truth be told, it turned out a little over-cooked. It was still tasty and moist but a little rubbery. I looked at the included card and it suggested to go a little more than half the suggested time for a thin crust pizza. So I put the second pizza in at suggested temp but I ran about 40% less time and the second pizza was excellent. The crust was crisp, the toppings moist. Very good. IMPORTANT NOTE: I am cooking at just around 6000 feet above sea level, so some of this feedback may be slightly different depending on your unique location.
Fourth test was some refrigerated fried chicken from our local grocery deli. We put stove on bake mode and placed on crisp tray at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. The end result? Another home run. The chicken was considerably more moist than from an oven but the crust was still crisp. Excellent.
Fifth and final test was the most surprising one. My wife and 16 year old son went to run a few errands and my 13 year old daughter said she wanted to test the oven with chocolate chip cookies. Great idea! Long story short, we made 2 different recipes and cooked half of each recipe in traditional oven and half in this unit. Both my daughter and I preferred the cookies from this stove. They were moist, crisp on the base and had a great texture.
The real test for this was just as we pulled the last batch out, my wife and son came back from errands and we had them blind test. It was an overwhelming and immediate preference from both of them for cookies delivered from this oven. Pretty impressive!
Truth be told, when I first saw this I thought it was a bit of a gimmick. I mean I thought it was cool gimmick, but a gimmick nonetheless. After these tests and a few days use, I humbly stand corrected. This is a truly unique, efficient, effective and useful kitchen appliance. The other impressive aspect for me is that it uses considerably less energy than a standard electric oven. Anything to save a buck or two and I am all in.
Another important note, this stove DOES NOT require pre-heating, so in addition to saving that pre-heat time, you are saving also the pre-heat energy expense waste. Very cool feature
In the end, this is a great unit if you have the room for an additional large-small appliance. Important to note that this unit will take a little bit of experimentation and I highly suggest (can't believe that I am saying this!) to read the short manual and instructions first, but if you do, you can't go wrong.

Nice Little Speaker With One Minor Issue
on September 5, 2018
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
I just received the LG PK7 from Fed Ex. The box was a little heavier than I expected, but with speakers, that's generally a good thing. On opening the box, the speaker was well packaged yet easily accessible. In the box, in addition to the speaker, was a small box underneath that had the charging chord and the usual obligatory warning and set up sheet. In all, the unit had the typical quality we have come to expect from LG consumer grade equipment. This did not disappoint.
OK, here is where the one minor issue comes... As I stated above, it came with a charging cable, not the usual USB I have come to expect with all of my other wireless products. The problem (and yes, I get it, it IS a minor issue) is that if you are traveling, this is yet another cable you need to pack instead of using the almost universal USB chord that you use to charge your phone, earpiece, headphones et al. Is it a deal breaker? No, not even close, just a minor inconvenience.
The speaker is now removed and plugged in, I let it fully charge. Only took an hour to get the battery charged. Powered the unit up and it came right up and was automatically in pairing mode. It paired immediately and I was off and running. I tested it with "5 Finger Death Punch" "The Bleeding" and the sound was really good for a portable unit. Honestly, it was one of the best portable speakers I have heard for sound quality. The bass was impressive, the mids were clean and solidly separated from the equally clean highs. I am not a self described audiophile but as a father of 2 busy active kids who were splashing in the pool, the sound was great.
And the kids splashing in the pool brings me to the next nice feather. The speaker is IPX5 weather resistant. Please remember, this does NOT equate to "water proof", but it is splash resistant. I was perfectly confident in setting it on the pool deck and had no worries the several times it got splashed. It took it like a trooper. Nice feature.
The unit also comes with two features that are interesting but maybe just slightly more than a gimmick. One feature is a "Clear Vocal" button that probably adds a little something, but after toggling on and off a few times, I could tell a difference but not overly definable. The other feature is an :Enhanced Bass" button that I also tested. I could tell a little more defined difference between when it was on and off. In the end, I left them both on because, why not?
As I was testing the music, my wife called and I took the call on this unit. The sound on my end was great. Very crisp and clear. At the end of call, I asked her how it sounded on her end. She said it was pretty good but I sounded a little bit "distant". Considering that I was about 6 feet from the speaker the entire conversation, that's honestly pretty impressive. I called her back when I was closer and she said it sounded great.
Another "interesting" feature is the LED that beats and pulses with the music. To be honest, its kind of cool, but can get tiresome when just sitting there in front of you. That said, I think it could be a pretty fun feature in a party or social gathering environment. That said, my kids absolutely LOVED it, so I have to mention that in an effort to be fair in my review. The good news, there is a solution...
Make sure you download the "Music Flow Bluetooth" ap. Using the ap, you can not only turn the LED on and off, but you can also adjust the pattern / color scheme so that's a nice inclusion. Again, the kids loved messing around with it so in all, a cool feature.
One final feature it has is the "Dual Play" option that allows you to connect a second LG PK7 in order to play in true stereo. While I can't vouch for or comment on the efficacy of the feature, I did find it important to mention.
End of the day, it's a really nice, large Bluetooth speaker that will work for the active family at the pool, beach, camping, fishing or other busy outdoor activities. Other than the power chord bummer, its a very good option. I would certainly recommend it to a friend

Very Good Depending On Your Needs
on August 30, 2018
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
Truth be told, this is my first foray into any Jabra product so I came in with no predisposition whatsoever. My initial thoughts, it certainly looks and feels like a quality product Has nice tactile feel and feels of good material. It's lightweight yet feels solid and substantial.
In the box you'll find the headset / mic that has a standard 3.5 mm headset chord, the 3.5 female to USB adapter to hook up to soft-phone on computer and a small carry bag, for what that's worth. Everything fit into the case easily and my 13 year old daughter really liked the black on the outside and orange on the inside. Also included are the quick start guide and the obligatory but almost never read "Warning and Declarations" book.
All right, lets put them to work... They are comfortable on the ear and the boom mic has a nice magnetic feature to hold the mic when in the full "up" position.
Our (my 13 y/o was my official assistant tester) first test was plugged into a Samsung S8 with a live call to a land line. The sound quality of the stereo headset was crisp and clean. The mic delivered accurate and crisp sound as well. For a phone headset, it's perfect. My daughter liked the fact that she could use her phone aps while talking on the phone. She also liked the fact that the headset did not cover the full ear, thus allowing her to still hear when mom or dad hollered at her or the dogs barked in the yard.
Our next test was listening to 5 Finger Death Punch on a Google Pixel 2. To be fair, the sound was not bad, but it is certainly not anywhere near our Sony or Beats full ear noise cancelling headsets. And to be honest, that is not a fair comparison so I will give them a solid 4 on music sound. Really good, especially for what they are, but for pure musical enjoyment, there are more robust (and expensive) options.
Our final test was from my PC using Skype to make a call to the Pixel 2 on Google Project Fi cell network. Again, they did a yoemans job and delivered above expectation. Here is where I have an opportunity for improvement... The adapter from 3.5 mm to USB did include volume * / -, mute and phone control buttons in-line. I would have preferred to also have those options for the 3.5 connector.
In all, I think these are a great option for long-term phone use and certainly capable to double as a music / TV headset. in all honesty, a very nice choice if you need a wired unit that can work both on 3.5 mm and USB platforms. These will provide quality sound, mic and all day comfort.I would certainly recommend them to a friend.
