Not a bad little film! Not terrific, but good!

This isn't the best film out there, but has it's moments! Pretty suspenseful build and a somewhat good ending! Nothing terribly original about it, but is definitely worth a watch if you're one that tries to check out all the new horror films...
What's great about it: somewhat scary, suspenseful
What's not so great: not terribly original

Pass on this poor remake; see the original 3 films

What a disappointment! I'm for any film that takes place on Halloween, but this remake of the original late '80's film stinks! The end couldn't come fast enough for me: horrible acting, no scary moments, cheezy (and few) special effects. At least the first 2 films had something going for them, especially Night of the Demons 2 with that nun that stole the show! This film has nothing going for it. I didn't even like any of the characters in it. If you're smart, skip it. Go trick-or-treating on the next block. A very good film that came on DVD last Halloween is "Trick or Treat."
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: no plot, no special effects, no likeable characters

Slow starting, but then this movie rocks...hard!

I can't believe no one else has yet reviewed this terrific little film from FANGORIA FRIGHTFEST (total of 8 films in this 2010 late October dvd series)! The first third or so of this film seems a little bogged down, but once it kicks off....whoa baby! This certainly is the kind of film one would expect from FANGORIA -- I thought the key part was 'GORE' in their name? Well, this movie certainly has that: very very gory, bloody, sick, demented...with a little political subtext thrown in for good measure -- plus, some gross-out trouble-making rednecks, a group of religious fanatics, a tough Asian chick, and a 3,000-pound murderous pig thrown in for good measure! This is the most brutal of these 8 Frightfest Films, but this one is surely one of the best! If you can sit through the first thrid or so, you're in for a real thrills/suspense ride with no holds barred! Don't be afraid of this one; give it a try -- you can handle it, and you'll love it...
What's great about it: Suspenseful, brutal second half
What's not so great: Slow-starting first half

Refreshingly different, w/o being gory! 4 stars!

Nice original story! Not gory! I wasn't grossed out exept for maybe one brief spot - and it was just the thought of what was happening in the film, rather than seeing it! No real nudity in this that I can remember; some violence near the end; good story even though it is a little silly - still great fun, and that's how movies are supposed to entertain: take you out of this world for awhile and enjoy the limits of someone else's imagination! Definitely recommend; give it a try...
What's great about it: original story; suspenseful
What's not so great: I would have wrote a few parts differently, but hey that's me...

Nice throwback to the old 1930's/'40's films

Shot in black and white, but you can also watch a (yeah right) "rare" colorized version! This is a new film which is a throwback to all the great 1930-1940's "old dark house" films which many of us remember. I guess I just thought this would be funnier, but it's really not. ALL of the actors overact like crazy, trying constantly to garner whatever laughs they can. The story of course is supposed to be simple - about a will, frightened heirs, a mysterious killer, etc. But couldn't have they found a better ending to the story? Not very spine-chilling either. Makes me want to stick to the original 'old dark house' films like "The Cat and the Canary" with Bob Hope or "Murder By Invitation" which are terrific films...
What's great about it: nice recreation of the 'old dark house' films from '30's/40's
What's not so great: not very funny or convincing

Pretty sick stuff...

"Grimm Love" is an original story that moves along at a snail's pace, and annoyingly goes back and forth between flashbacks. I must say it is pretty sick to have a man advertise for a willing subject who desires to be eaten by him. I guess this could be a good study in a psychology class, but otherwise, it's pretty boring and suprisingly not very explicit at all. I wouldn't watch it again. If I were you, I would skip this one and try some of the other 7 Fangoria Frightfest films in this series, particularly the film "Fragile" or "Hunger."
What's great about it: original concept
What's not so great: boring, way too long

very compelling story

'Hunger" by Fangoria is pretty compelling. I thought it was going to suck, but it was pretty darn good! You don't know what's going to happen, and the ending itself is a pretty good one at that! Very interesting, and a good study for those studying pyschology! If you were starved for 2-3 weeks, would you actually EAT another human being to stay alive?
What's great about it: Good story; captivating
What's not so great: much of it is too dark and dreary, perhaps

Suspenseful, eerie; unfortunately: badly dubbed

"The Haunting" by Fangoria Frightfest 8 Films, is a very suspenseful, well-shot little piece. It will definitely sends chills up and down your spine. Unfortunately, it is originally in Spanish and the English dubbed voices are truly abysmal! Purists can watch it in Spanish, however, with the English subtitles; that changes the rating of the movie to 'excellent'. But for those who don't like reading subtitles, we must endure these really badly dubbed voices that transmit ZERO in terms of dramatic performances. Consider though that the budget for this was almost non-existent and the look this film has is absolutely incredible, and the music score helps things considerably! If you can get past the bad dubbing, you will thoroughly enjoy and be lavishly 'spooked' without being grossed out (like many other horror films would do to you). This is a pretty good ghost story, without the gore, just bad English language dubbing...
What's great about it: atmosphere; terrific ghost story; spooky music
What's not so great: atrocious dubbing to English

Very poor film; do not waste your time!

"Road Kill" is an extremely poor film. No story, no suspense, no thrills.
Surprisingly, most of the other 7 in this newer "Fangoria Frightfest" are pretty spectacular. But by all means, stay away from this waste of time. And I'm not just saying this because all the actors are Australian. This film simply rots...
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: no story, no suspense, no thrills, no story
